Re: "save as" command

I have the PS and LR cc subscription and the latest updates. I deleted PS6 aand Bridge6. I convert my images to dng upon import, I edit in Camera RAW,
then some other minor adjustments in PS. When I "save as" (as a copy) to create a jpg, it results in an overly exposed jpg.

Thank you R_Kelly,
You got me to go through my workflow carefully. I tried converting to 8 bit before saving, importing as CR2 or dng, etc. I tried several different approaches that I use. I had this problem over several days but it is not happening right now. It probably has something to do with moving between LR and PS. I'm fairly new at LR. I think I better make sure I understand the difference between the LR and Bridge folders and saving to one or the other. We're going out of town for a few days and I'll try again later. I can see benefits to using LR but I'm an old guy and I'm very comfortable in PS. Thanks again for getting me to focus.

  • "Could not complete the Save As command because there is not enough memory (RAM)"

I'm trying to save a file and an error keeps popping up saying ""Could not complete the Save As command because there is not enough memory (RAM)". I'm using Adobe Photoshop CS5 Extended. I have no other windows open. I checked the RAM allocated to Photoshop, in the Preferences > Performance tab, and I have tried it at 60% (980 MB) and 90% (1483 MB), still with no luck. I tried Purging the undo, clipboard and history with no help either.
I read a couple of other posts that were similar to this and people suggested " resetting the preferences as described in the FAQ." but is there any way to do this without closing Photoshop?
I can't loose this file, so any help woudl be appreciated.

I'm sorry to hear it locked up on you, and with only a GIF saved (which is probably useless).  Perhaps I should have suggested Select All / Copy first.
As far as what went wrong...  It might be helpful to know some of the specifics:
What operating system are you running?
Do you see any errors in the Windows error logs corresponding in time to this problem, and if so, what are the specifics?
Do you have Photoshop updated to 12.0.3?
What video card do you have, and do you have updated video drivers?
Is OpenGL enabled in Edit - Preferences - Performance?
What kinds of operations did you do since you started the session of Photoshop that ultimately went bad?
What other applications were you running?
What kind of computer is it (specifically, can you install more RAM)?
It might not be possible to pinpoint just what went wrong, but perhaps we could make some general suggestions that might help.

    Hi Shikha021,
As Hendrik said, please make sure the destination file name is valid, make sure the path is accessible.
Also please make sure the file extension matches the Excel interop library version.

  • "Save As" command with very slow Finder response in Tiger

Ever since upgrading to Tiger using the "Archive & Install" option, my applications have had very slow operation of the "Save As" command. The Finder takes a long time to open and display the Save As window with folders and file name etc. This has occurred on all of my computers - a PowerMac G5, an iMac G4 and a PowerBook G4. It has not changed with upgrades as far as 10.4.5. I have tried the following suggested in another post about slow Finder actions without success:
Refreshing and reblessing the following system files and the folder followed by reboot.
    1. /System/Library/Extensions.kextcache
    2. /System/Library/Extensions.mkext
    3. /System/Library/Caches/com.apple.kernelcaches/
Trashing the following files and a folder followed by reboot
    1. /Library/Caches/com.apple.LaunchServices-xxxx.csstore
    2. /Library/Caches/com.apple.LaunchServices-xxxxxx.csstore
    3. /Library/Caches/com.apple.ATS/
I have also deleted the /User/Library/Preferences/com.apple.finder.plist file and rebooted.
Does anyone else have this problem and how do I solve it?
    PowerMac G5   Mac OS X (10.4.4)

Thank you Roger - this does seem to have solved the problem - my local Apple service people did not have an answer on this, so I'm grateful

  • "Save As" Command in Word for Mac 2011

My Word for Mac 2011 "save as" command no longer defaults to the same file as the main doc. Is there a fix or work around? It used to be when I "Save As" it stayed in the same file. Now it defaults to the root directory: Documents.

Thanks for replying..., but I'm referring to the "Save As" command (unlike the Duplicate in iWorks). When I begin to "save as" a document the current file flashes in the drop down window, but then suddenly reverts to the root directory--Documents. Prior to a recent update, it would--as you suggest, remain in the current file of the document I am "saving as". What makes me suspicious is this 'flash' and switch. (i.e. I use  the previous day's journal entry and "save as" for the current day. These are not to go into the 2014 File in my Journal File. But instead, the "save as" command flashes from the 2014 File the goes all the way back to the Main Documents File.) Do I need to save the daily journal entry as a template to work around this?

  • File save as command

Hi is there a way to get acrobat to retrieve data from the first form input field and then use it in the file naming convention when using the "file save as" command. is there a javascript or something to do this?
In other words, I have a savable form that I created. it is going to be a template that will be filled out by people in my organizatin. Once they complete the form, they will save it to a network directory. I don't want it saving as the same file name and having people accidetnaly overwriting files already saved. Some people are not smart enough to change the file name. I would like acrobat to retrieve informatino from the first input field and use this as the name of the file to be saved. MS word does this when you create a document. I don't see why acrobat can't do it either....many thanks for anyone that can help.

The only way is to install a folder-level JavaScript file on each user's system or use a certified document and get the users to trust it for restricted JavaScript. For more information, see this fie tutorial: http://acrobatusers.com/tutorials/how-save-pdf-acrobat-javascript

  • How to save terminal command and output history to pdf on exit?

When I exit a terminal session (terminal.app), I would like to automatically save the commands and output from the session to a PDF (or text file) as a reference.
I can do this manually in Terminal by selecting Shell --> Print... --> PDF --> Save as PDF...
Unfortunately, I'm too forgetful to remember to do this each time before I exit.
Is there an alias I could set or some other method to automatically save the contents of my session to a PDF when I exit?
    Thank you in advance,
    jjw

    Frank,
Your response was helpful, but I realized after looking at my .bash_history file that only the commands entered are listed, not the output.  I would like my commands to be printed out, but also the result from the commands (in this simple example, the directory listing):
    myuserid[~/galaxy-dist/tools]$ cd ncbi_blast_plus
    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ----------------------------------------------------- 09:48:37
    myuserid[~/galaxy-dist/tools/ncbi_blast_plus]$ ls
    blastxml_to_tabular.py   hide_stderr.py           ncbi_blastp_wrapper.xml  ncbi_tblastn_wrapper.xml
    blastxml_to_tabular.xml  ncbi_blastn_wrapper.xml  ncbi_blastx_wrapper.xml  ncbi_tblastx_wrapper.xml
    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ----------------------------------------------------- 09:48:38
    myuserid[~/galaxy-dist/tools/ncbi_blast_plus]$
I'm thinking that there is an automator script or an alias that I could use so that when I type, "exit", the commands and output for the session would be sent to a PDF and then the session would close.
I know it seems like an odd thing to want, but sometimes I'll forget the sequence of commands that gave me the correct output (plus, my command prompt has a timestamp on it, too).
Thanks, though, for the .bash_history information.

  • Photoshop CS3 Ext./Quits on "Save As" command in Leopard

    IMac Leopard/3GB RAM/500GB HD:
CS3 worked fine with IMac Tiger; just upgraded to Leopard and "Save As" command crashes the whole program. Message: "The application Photoshop has unexpected quit. A crash report has been generated." Then Photoshop goes off completely. Command "Save" works; command "Save As" generates the crash. Any help will be appreciated.

    Barbara,
First thing I would do is reset Photoshop's preferences at launch. (Press and hold Command + Option + Shift until dialog box appears.)
But other concerns come up here. Before upgrading or installing anything, have you been booting from the OS X disk, then launching Disk Utility and repairing permissions and disk? And doing similar, booting off Alsoft's Disk Warrior? And then repeat repairing permissions immediately after doing the installation or upgrade?
Also, how much free hard drive space do you have?
Last, please know that many of us who have machines that can still run Mac OS X 10.4.11 have not migrated to OS X 10.5.x as there are some compatibility issues we're still concerned about. As a last resort, you may wish to reinstall Mac OS X 10.4.11.
    Please get back to us.

  • Saving 0% 'Could not complete the save as command...'

    Hi,
    I keep running into this issue on my Mac Pro (Mountain Lion 10.8.4 - 3.2 GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon 16GB 1066 MHz DDR3 - 2013) in Photoshop CS6 13.0.5.
I have just finished working on a file and saved the .PSD
The only problem is it appears to be stuck at 0%.
The filename in the current document photoshop tab is followed by '-Saving 0%'
If I try and save the file again via 'Save as' I get the following message:
'Could not complete the Save As command because the document is currently being saved in the bavkground. pleae try the operation again after the save has been completed'
Any ideas how I can force this to resume saving or am I about to lose hours of work?
    Thanks for your help!

    Hi Mike,
I have no other apps running, the only thing using CPU in Activity Monitor is Photoshop at 1%. I currently have 6GB of RAM free and 100+ GB of hard disk space. There is also 100GB free on my scratch SSD for photoshop.
What do you mean by dismount server? I'm not currently connected to any networks and have unplugged all external disks just incase.
How long will it take to 'error out'? It's been over 30 mins now
I didnt switch apps during the save, I wasn't actually doing anything else at all.
As far as I know this isnt a background save because I went to file - save as. Or do you think this has conflicted with a background save?
I also just made a new document and saved that as a .PSD without any problems. The other is still stuck at 0%.
    Thanks for your help

  • Override action "save as" command with save for web batch processing

    Hi everyone,
I've created an action that uses the save for web dialogue to optimise images for the web. When I use the batch command to process a full folder of images, even though I have "Override action "save as" command" checked, it ignores this and still uses the location that was used when the action was created.
Apparently this is a known issue in CS6 and previous versions but I wondered if anyone knows whether this has been fixed in Photoshop CC?
    Appreciate any advice.
    Thanks

Since save for web is an export plugin, none of the destination options have any effect on where the files are saved
    or the file names.
Save for web only saves the files to the folder specified when you recorded the action.
(it's always been that way and still is in photoshop cc)
You might look at the Image Processor Pro
(included in Dr. Brown’s Services 2.3.1)
(has a save for web option)

  • When will the "SAVE AS" command return?  In Lion have to "Duplicate" then rename, then reopen new document

When will the 'SAVE AS" command return, or is there a work aroiund the "Duplicate", rename, then reopen new document procedure that is now in Lion / Pages.  I just want my old save as command back.

    Roger,
What Peter said, plus, you're making it sound worse than it is. You Duplicate, work on the duplicate and when you're done working on it, you save it.
After Duplicating, both copies are open until you do something with them.
You can continue to edit both or you can close one of both of them.
