Re-schedule metric collection in EM Gc 10g

Hi all,
I installed OEM/GD 10gR3 on my Linux box and I configured it to monitor 7 databases.
I configured all the credentials to gather metric information, and every night at around 10.20pm, all the metric collection of the 7 databases start in the same time. As a result, all collection falls into errors:
myrl04db Database Instance Dec 5, 2008 10:52:49 PM PST Target has encountered metric evaluation errors.
prod02db Database Instance Dec 5, 2008 10:36:09 PM PST Target has encountered metric evaluation errors.
dev01db Database Instance Dec 5, 2008 10:31:58 PM PST Target has encountered metric evaluation errors.
totyr32db Database Instance Dec 5, 2008 10:28:54 PM PST Target has encountered metric evaluation errors.
And I have to reconfigure the databases to start collecting/monitoring again. Otherwise, I cannot see/operate the database. So every morning I have to go through the pannel to reconfigure it:
This database is not configured -> Configure Database Instance: Properties -> Next -> Finish
It takes few minutes every day :'(
My OMS machine is pretty slow, and I would like to change these jobs to not run in parallel as it is now (~10.30pm).
The documentation is not very clear on this point. Has somebody already done this ? Where could i find the information ?

Metrics are gathered all the time according to metric and policy settings. Is there a job in the repository scheduled for that time of day? Did you pursue looking at all of the log files to see what was running at that time? More info would be helpful.

Metric collection error for Oracle 10g(10.2.0.4) database.

i just confirured OEM11G(11.1.0.1) on my client test machine and installed 11.1.0.1 agent on one target where 10.2.0.4 database is running. OS is windows 2003 R2.
after installing the agent, i am able to see the database name in the oem --> database tab. but its status is "metric collection error" how ever i am able to see the details about datafiles etc..but in the status sheet it is showing as "metric collection error". i checked the dbsnmp user name and pasword. both are working. i tried to reconfigure the databae manually. it is erroring out with the following error.
oracle.sysman.emSDK.emd.comm.CommException: IOException in sending Request :: Connection refused: connect
Can any body help me to take it forward.

I would check the agent trace file (<AGENT_HOME>\sysman\log\emagent.trc) to see if this gives you any information. To give the Log on as batch privilege will not help (to what user?) I think. It will if you start patching using Grid Control.
Are you sure the target db is 10.2.0.4? Because it was a issue in 10.2.0.3 and cursor_sharing=similar

Metric collection

hello
i have created a tablespace that does not autoextend and i specified that at 80% i should get a warning
i created a table in this tablespace and inserted records
millions of records
but didnt get the warning yet
i am wondering whats is the schedule of collection for metrics of such warning?
i mean ill get the warning within a window of 30 minutes or 5 minutes;
can i edit such collection?

Metric Collection Errors

I am using a 10.2 OEM agent to monitor various database versions (8i,9i,10g). I understand that using a 10.2 agent on an 8i database is not supported.... from what I have seen, you must use a 10.1 OEM agent. However, we would like to upgrade our 8i databases and therefore do not want to lower our OEM agent version to accomodate something that will phase out soon. In the meantime, I am getting collection errors. Some I was able to fix since error message had perl line number in it.... I know this is unsupported, but hopefully Oracle could list it as a valid work-around. There are just a few messages left:
Target MYDB
Type Database Instance
Metric Data Base parameter collection, Remote Password File, Remote OS Roles and Authentication, DB Password Setting

Error Type Collection Failure
Message ORA-00900: invalid SQL statement
This was really 4 different metric error messages. Does anyone have suggestions of how to clear these error messages? I am fine with not collecting this info for our v8 databases. I was wondering if I could delete from sysman.MGMT_CURRENT_METRIC_ERRORS?
Or if someone knows how to fix these last few errors, that would be even better.

No, all oracle8 dbs are at 8.1.7.4 (none at lower version).

Steps I have taken:
1. Used Note:373394.1 to grant appropriate privs
2. modified perl scripts until collection errors were resolved.
a) Ran the following statements on Oracle 8.1.7.4 database:
alter system set "_new_connect_by_enabled" = TRUE;
grant select on sysauth$ to dbsnmp;
3. have a handful (5 or 6) of errors left with no perl filenames, line numbers, etc. I would like to figure out how to either suppress these or resolve them so that I don't have to manually filter through metric errors trying to determine which are valid and which are not.

Unfortunately there is no way to stop a job once it is being executed. Yes as you read, it is not possible once job has started.
Same thing applies for running queries.
Once queries are sent to the DB BIP loses control over them. The message you see (if any) "Click Here to Cancel" does not stop any query
it is just a message.
I guess you will have to stop/kill the process in your DB

Grid Control EMC Clariion Metric Collection Error

Hi,
I just deployed the EMC Clariion plugin and I get a metric collection error:
Storage Processor Configuration Collection Failure
Can't call method "che_freemem" on un undefined value at /<agent_path/sysman/admin/scripts/emx/emc_clariion_storage/emc_clariion_processor.pl line 127.
Anyone got any idea?

It could be a parsing error due to unstrucured format of the navicli out put.
other metrics and reports should work fine.
Not a consistent error . Not seen on other deployments.

Not sure if you got the plug-in working. If not, read on...
The error is due to failure in internal computation of the SQL Server Host related information.
Ensure that
1. All pre-requisites (specified in SQL Server plug-in Installation Guide) are satisfied
2. Provided property values for discovery of the SQL Server target are correct
- JDBC URL has correct port number
- If you are using older version of SQL Server plug-in, the name of SQL Server
instance that you provided is correct

+ASM1 and +ASM2 Metric Collection ERRO

My database targets in my GRID are OK, but my ASM instance have Metric Collection Erro. Someone know what can i do?
In database, i just ADD then manually and after CONFIGURE including the PASSWORD for DBSNMP and it works.

I configure in GRID ALL TARGET with user SYS, but nothing hapens.
I alredy insert the CREDENTIAL for ASM instance in my Automatic Storage Management Preferred Credentials .
I think in REMOVE and put the again just to see if works, any other idea?

Exlucde mount point from host metric collection

Customer is using 10.2.0.3 GC, Can a mount point on a host be excluded from metric collection? If so how? Is it possible to specify multiple mount point to exclude from metric collection.

I have seen documentation that says to set the warning and critical thresholds to null. You can give that a try but it isn't working for me. Only difference is I am trying to exclude an UNDO TS.

Scheduling in collective order

I need some hint on a problem I'm facing here...
We are using collective orders(Proc. E- SP. 52) and no scheduling parameters are defined in our workcenters...
When I create a production order on the top level (finish good) for 10/ 31, the component that has an In-house production time =1 scheduling margin key = 000 is scheduled to finish 11/03
I tried using "backwards" scheduling, "backward in time" scheduling...
I would like the component to have start date 10/30 and finish date 10/31
Any ideas?
If I remove the in-house production time, the finish date of the component is the same as the finish good...

Check with Route time for the component. It is likely the route time is higher than 1 day. Production order schedules on route time & hence likely the order has a finish date of 11/3.
If your only looking at the planned order planning then it will take the material master inhouse production time. Also please check if you have 31 Oct as a non working day in your factory calendar. If yes then it is likely 1 & 2 Nov( SAt/Sunday) are non working too & hence the order plans to finish on 11/3( monday).
That also explains if you remove inhouse time, system takes 0 days & has finish date as 10/03.
Hope this gives you with some hint about what might be going on in your system.

You need to add khazaei to the Local Security Policy "Logon as Batch Job". if you have already done so and you have logged on to a Domain, then add the domain to the username. e.g domain_name\khazaei.

In Oracle 9i, the below scenario works find, but in Oracle 10g it won'nt, The scenerio is ,

set test_collection = ' '; -- works fine in Oracle 9i , but it wont works in Oracle 10g,
Update tabel1
set test_collection = null; -- works in both the versions.

Do I need to restart agent when metric collection was disabled ?

table with 400 000 entries per 24h .
I'm not sure where can I disable that :).
