Re-setting and re-registering E1000 wireless router

My ex-girlfriend moved out but left the wireless router to me. I cannot acess the wireless network because I don't have the password. I would like to re-set the router and register it under my name so I can use my wif-fi on my my iPhone and iPad. How do I go about doing this? Juno915

How can I use my time capsule as a time machine backup without using it wirelessly and not as a wireless router?

I have a wireless transmitter already, would like to use the capsule just as a back up drive, I tried hooking up from the ethernet port on the imac to the one of the ports on the capsule but then my Wifi would not work. do I hook the cable to the port with the circle or the arrows?
It is better to have the TC as part of the main network in bridge. You do not need to run wireless.
If you want to use the TC plugged in by ethernet and still use wireless for internet, that is possible but the setup is rather more complicated.. the computer must not get confused about which device to use as a gateway or dns server.
See info in this thread on setting this up.

I need to add.. a USB drive would be cheaper, faster and more reliable. It is really poor use of a TC.

  • Need help setting up my d-link wireless router to my imac

I need some help trying to set up my D-Link WBR 2310 wireless router to my iMac. I currently have Bell Sympatico high speed.
The reason I want to set up the wireless router is because my girlfriend works from home sometimes with her office computer downstairs and needs a wireless connection (she has a PC). I tried to call D-Link, but they're useless.
Anyways, any help would be greatly appreciated. It would be great to know what settings to change and as much step by step info as possible. I realize it's probably pretty simple to set up, but I'm fairly new to Macs and also to wireless.
    Thanks again

    Hello,
Connect the D-Link to the iMac by Ethernet.
    Open Safari (or Firefox)
    Navigate to http://192.168.1.1
Enter your password (default user is Admin and password "admin" - change it!)
Find the Wireless Security section and change the SSID to your own name i.e. "home network" .
Set the Encryption setting to "WPA" and enter a password of your choice. This is the encryption key and is different to the router's admin password.
Configure the WAN part of the router (which will vary depending on your ISP).
Configure the DHCP to serve clients (should be a simple on/off).
    Disconnect the iMac
Go to the iMac and turn on Airport on (on the menu bar).
When the iMac finds your SSID select it and enter the encryption password.
Check to allow Keychain to store that detail.
    Hope that helps

  • How to setup and print USB001 via wireless router

Hello,My printer M1136 MFP was able print via usb001 port on RT_N13U_b1 wireless router..this enable me to scan and print without any queue print errors..Now the problem is.. due to recent system setup i removed the printer and tried to re-add. Now am not able to print via usb001 errors but direct usb hardconnect to my system can print and scan ..I've forgotten the steps in the first place how i did the set-up  by chance to print via usb001 on wireless router. TCP/IP print works but with queue errors more than 3+ print jobs. I want to setup to print via usb001 through my wireless router, so that i can do a scan wirelessly since tcp/ip always gives error due to multiple queues....but didnt encounter any queue errors on usb001 setup. How can i setup to print via usb001 on my wireless router?

Hi , Welcome to the HP Forums! I noticed that you cannot setup your HP Laserjet Pro m1136MFP on Windows 7. I am happy to look into this for you!  According to your printer's specifications, and page 39, of your printer's user guide, states this printer can only be direcly connected to the computer with the USB printer cable. The M1210 Series Laserjet, can connect to a network but not the M1136 MFP Laserjet printer.  Hope this answers your question, and have a nice day!  “Please click the Thumbs up icon below to thank me for responding.”

  • Macbook and linsys wrt54g v5 wireless router

I was getting random lockups when my macbook used my wireless router. I did some research on the internet and discovered it was a very common problem. There were various solutions that seemed to work for people, but I figred one out that is very easy to do. I changed a setting in the wirless section of my router under the advanced settings.. original value for beacon interval was 100 msec I changed it to 90 msec and all is working well. No lockups on the router in 2 days so far. My firmware version on the router is 1.02.0 .
    Hope this helps someone.
Does anyone know how I can change these same settings on the macbook?

macbook black   Mac OS X (10.4.9)

i traded with a friend of mine for a wrt54g v4 router so i could use hyperwrt firmware instead of being stuck with the linksys firmware. there was nothing compatable with v5 and i had the same problem,no problems anymore tho. v5 does suck tho, no problems with the macbook.

  • How do I set up my SSID to wireless router

Have HP3052A J611g printer that I cannot get to connect to my 'Clear' brnd wireless router.  It is a plug in and go to electical outlet,  There are no buttons on this unit..
My Mac Air Book does recognize this printer with correct model number in tact, but cannot connect.
I do have a SSID number from my Clear internet connection product.  I cannot find a way to get my HP printer network name to match this wireless outer network name (SSID) exactly.
I can get the printer to get the wireless connection to 'on', but goes off on it's own within seconds.
    Please advise.

Ensure that the Airport base station is configured to not distribute IP addresses.
    On the iMac
System Preferences > Sharing > Printer Sharing
    On the PowerBook
Applications > Utilities > Printer Setup Utility
    Add Printer
It may work with the HP driver (which you will need to install on the PowerBook)
It may work with a third-party driver such as the HPIJS drivers or the Gimp-Print drivers, but this is not the case with all printers.

  • Can I use a WRT54GX2 as wireless bridge for my Blue Ray to an E1000 wireless router?

I recently replaced my WRT54GX2 router with an E1000 for networking in my home.  I now have a Blu-Ray disk player, and thought I may be able to use the old WRT54GX2 to wirelessly bridge a network connection for the Blu-Ray.  I am having trouble fignuring out how to configure it, if possible at all.  Any help would be appreciated

A WRT and a E1000 are wireless routers, i.e. router with an integrated wireless access points. They accept client connections. They don't connect to other access points. They always require a wired connection to your main network.
Running a wire is the best solution anyway, in particular for video streaming and similar.

  • WDS setup with Airport Express and other(non-Apple) wireless router

    Hi,
I am trying to configure a wireless network with one airport express and one Planex Wireless access point. Can anyone please point me to the settings to be made for such a scenario? I can use either of them as the main WDS device, and have a (wired)router provided by the ISP in the network.(so total 3 devices : airport, planex a/p , ISP router)
    Thanks.

I'm having the same problem, both with a Linksys WRVS4400Nv2, and a WRT54G. I've not put much effort into the WRT, but the WRVS was such a pain that I don't think I can get it to work at all.
The WRT doesn't have a section on WDS, but I've read that it's supported anyways, and nothing needs to be enabled on it. Is there a good step-by-step available here or elsewhere that uses close to the same router and Airport Express units, on the latest Airport setup software?
Basically, I'm trying to set this up for a guy in an ~8000 sq. foot house so he has wireless throughout it, and he wants itunes streaming from the AX. Has anyone done this?

  • Problem with my Macbook Pro and D-Link 615 Wireless Router

Supposedly other people have had similar issues but the router doesn't seem to "like" my Macbook Pro. If i connect the mac to the modem, it runs beautifully on the internet. When I try to connect via Airport or Ethernet to the router, the internet refuses to work and connections are never completely established. The wireless doesn't work but it will find the wireless internet signal but no matter what, it won't connect. The ethernet cable says that it is connected but "may not be able to access the internet" which it can't. What in the world do I do?

I am having similar problems. I have updated firmware, set the router to g-only broadcast, have WPA personal security, tried the power down technique. What I'm experiencing is that the macbook will see the network, connect to it, browse web pages, but will only go to a certain point. IE-it will load facebook, let me log into my page, but after that anything I click on(check messages, check friend's pages) it gives me a lost connection to server error after a few minutes. Same thing with my forum group webpage. It'll let me log in and view all the forum posts, but when I try to reply to one it times out. Also cannot connect using MSN messenger for mac.

  • Is there anyway to get a CD image of the Installation CD for E1000 Wireless Router?

My CD-ROM drive broke and i'm not sure what to do now?

Hi Cruztol, you may just download the software from the website and use it to reinstall the router when needed. You can get the files from this link, http://support.linksys.com/en-us/support/routers/E1000. Click on the Download tab and choose the correct version. Hope that helps.

  • Set Up Time Capsule as Wireless Router - Now How set up Time Machine?

Time Capsule is performing great as wireless base station set up today. Extended the network and added AirTunes Airport Express - everything works great.
Started Time Machine to configure the TC as the backup device for TM. Time Machine prompts me to "Set Up Time Capsule" and clicking that button brings me to Airport Utility. But there are no settings in the Airport Utility which allow me to configure the Time Capsule as the TM backup location.
    Any ideas? Thanks.

Thanks for your reply and the article. It turns out the problem was that when I initially set up the Time Capsule in Airport Utility I checked the "not now" box when asked if I wanted to set up the TC for Time Machine backup. (I figured I could easily come back later to configure the TC for Time Machine.) I had to restart the AirPort Utility process and revert the TC to factory settings and then re-configure the TC while also setting up the wireless network and the Time Machine at same time. All is well now and after 6 hours overnight for the initial backup my iMac is backed up by TM on a regular schedule.

  • NAS and Verizon's MI424WR wireless router

I want to get a NAS drive for my home network but am very computer dumb.  I have 1 wireless desktop, 2 laptops, 2 smartphones, and 1 android tablet that would be sharing the content of the NAS drive.  What I want to know is can I just get a NAS and plug it into the LAN port on my router or do I need to get something else to share the contents of the NAS drive out wirelessly thoughout my home network?

That's exactly what an NAS is designed to do; just plug it into your network and you can share the storage. They usually come with some software that you run on one of your computers, or you can access an embedded Web page using any browser. This helps make it easy to configure so that the other computers can "discover" it for sharing. If your computers can "see" each other on the network -- whether they have a wired or wireless connection -- they'll be able to see the NAS device.
I'd encourage you to make sure that the NAS device supports DLNA. It's not a big deal, but this makes it simple to find music, photos, and other media files that are stored on it. It makes it easy to enjoy your favorite music on your various devices.
Also, if space permits, don't forget to use the NAS as backup storage for your computers and smartphones. People are storing more and more data on these devices -- some of it irreplaceable -- but don't back it up. Copying any critical files to the NAS device just takes a minute, and is valuable insurance against a disaster.

  • Airport Extreme (802.11n) and ATT U-verse wireless router (2-wire)

I am attempting to use my new airport extreme with my new U-verse service. Prior to the U-verse service my router worked fine. I have to use the U-verse router as it is the brains behind the internet/TV applications of the U-verse service. I tried to run a eithernet cable from the U-verse router to the Airport Extreme, but the U-verse router says that I cannot use a third-party router behind the U-verse router. The U-verse router gives me the option to resolve the problem and it makes some configuration changes. The U-verse router show my Airport Extreme as a DMZ+ device. I can use my computers that are on the Airport Extreme network but my Xbox's will not work.
Is there a way to use the Airport Extreme as a wireless hub and not have the Airport Extreme compete with the U-verse router to assign IP addresses?
    Thanks,
    Larry
Just switched to Macs and never want to go back to Windows!

Run an ethernet cable from a spare LAN port on your "U-verse router" to one of the LAN ports on the Airport Extreme Base Station. Then run the Airport Utility, and configure the Base Station so that it does not distribute IP addresses (ie so-called "bridge mode").
What this will accomplish is allowing the "U-verse router" to perform DHCP server and internet connection sharing services for your entire LAN. The Base Station's DHCP server and router will be disabled, allowing it to function as a wired-to-wireless bridge device.
