Re- Setting N97 predictive dictionary.

Does anyone know how to reset the predictive dictionary. If i want a full stop i have to go through question mark, comma before i get to it and its highly annoying. Any help appreciated.

Hi, you can't reset predictive txt. However there are two other methods of entering symbols. First tap the options icon top of screen three horizontal bars and choose insert symbol ( rather slow) or a quicker way is to use the star/plus button bottom left key, tap symbol you want and carry on ( much quicker) . You can of course use the qwerty keyboaed, which if you use on a regular basis can be much quicker than traditional keypad ( that's the reason the phone was designed the way it was). Hope this helps.

How to set a default dictionary on iPad

This is weird - it certainly stumped my local Apple Store bunch.
I have a number of keyboards active on my iPad - English UK, Swedish, Icelandic, Russian, Greek, Emoji and Japanese Romaji/Kana. However, should I ever wish to define a word I've typed, it insists on giving me the Japanese dictionary. This seems to be tied purely to which keyboards I have going on.
I'd like to keep the UK English dictionary up front, while keeping hold of my extra keyboards, but there doesn't seem to be any way of setting a default dictionary. I've been through all the menus twice, as have the Apple Store staffers - nothing. A reset of my settings brings the English dictionary back to the forefront, but loses my keyboards - soon as I put one Japanese keyboard back in, even if it's Emoji, wallop - back come the moon runes.
Something to address for iOS 6.0.2, perhaps?

Are you saying that when you have the English UK keyboard active and do Define on a selected English word, you do not get the English dictionary? On my machine the reference dictionary follows the keyboard which is active (English US, English UK, French, German, Spanish, Japanese, and Chinese can be available).
If yours doesn't do that, I think it's something messed up on your device and not an OS update issue. Have you tried a Reset?
I don't think Apple is likely to replace the dictionary follows keyboard approach with settings for "default".

I am using Firefox on widows with a dictionary add-on, and now that I've installed a french one, it goes to french every box. Can i set a default dictionary?

Worked fine with just english, now with french it always makes me change. I type a lot online, so if you add up the 2 seconds each time, it's hours wasted in a year.

What is the order of the installed languages?

Current Firefox version may select the dictionary based on the language that is send in the HTML file. 
You could try to create a user.js file to set the default dictionary (copy the spellchecker.dictionary from prefs.js to user.js) to reset the default dictionary on startup, but I'm not sure if that will have effect with loading web pages.

I am having problems to change the application preferences - Dictionary language from English: UK to Ex. Swedish or Danish.
When i look at property of ex. "dictionary preferences" most of them has access get !
Is it posibel to chance this preferences and how ?
( The script has to set up InDesign with default settings before a user takes over )

It makes next to no sense to change the dictionary preferences by script. What are you really trying to do?
The dictionary preferences allow you to set dictionary options for the various special characters (like smart quotes).
To change the language assigned to text, you need to change the appliedLanguage property of the text, either directly as a local override or (more likely) by changing the property of the paragraph or character styles.

What is the oracle dictionary that contains information of
oracle character set and national character set?
I checked v$database, but there was not the information.
It seems that there are some differences between "nls_* " init parameters
and the database character set.
"Alter database backup controlfile to trace" gave me the character set of db,
but I would like to know whether there are oracle dictionary regarding them.

I found the dictionary which contains the information of character set and
natiional character set of database.

How do I set a default dictionary for spell check?

I work in three languages, mostly in English, and I would like my spell check to be set to the default of English. Right now, every time I start Firefox it will spell check in Ukrainian. I have to manually adjust that to English---and that is for every window that I open. It's become rather annoying since I compose emails all day and must constantly switch it to English.
Any advice?

Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode|Safe Mode]] to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

Set up password dictionary for prohibiting password

Hi guys,
I've seen that it's possible to import a file contaning prohibited passwords (password Policy tab of the identity store).
But It seems that it is not possible to use placeholders.
Ex : *PASS* to specify that the password can not contain the word "PASS"
According to my configuration, i cannot use the password Policy of the netweaver JAVA (and here it is possible to use * as placeholder).
I just can not believe it is not possible using password dictionary of the identity center..
Am I using the wrong placeholder?

Hi Guillaume,
you can use the regex (Java Regular Expression) on the attribute definition (attribute values tab) in order to define your own - much more flexible and complex - password policy on the attribute itself. If you need some examples just ask your internet search engine for java regex password example.

How to set the default language in preferences- dictionary- language

i like to set the default dictionary language as well as the lookup path of the dictionary via script. I've found the property dictionary path as well as some settings for qoutation under languages with vendors:

Thats fine, but how can it set a certain language with vendor as the default language for the application itself? Under the Preferences->Dictionary dialog, I can find a dropdown showing the default language. But how can I access this default or set it?
The application object has a property object called dictionaryPreferences, but this object only contains some flags like the merge behaviour but not the default language itself. So where is it?

Ok guys,
in the meantime I think I got it. I can setup several dictionaries for several languages. Depending on the language I use in my paragraph styles the according dictionary will be used. Fine for the desktop.
But what about the InDesign Server! I use the server via scripting and SOAP ports, webservice calls. I've launched several webservice ports, like 10001,10002,10003,10004. In this case, I can set up a vendor dictionary by providing a path via script send to one port 10001 for example. But here are two problems:
1. The other InDesign Server instances aka webservice ports and engines won't get informed about the change. I have to run the script on all instances.
2. The change only lives as long as the instance is running but doesn't get saved. After restart the instance, the setup got lost.
So can I save the dictionary-setup with an pref-xml file, all InDesign Server instances would use and read per default?

N97 Mini Nokia messaging hangs

hi all....
nokia messaging used to work fine on my N97 Mini until I updated the firmware to v30.0.004 from the earlier 12.x
now after i configure my gmail account the messages either dont update or the phone hangs. i cannot remove the mailbox either!! i cannot get rid of the nokia email software from the phone.
please help

If that word(phrase in your case) is added to the predictive dictionary you can't do that and the device consider it as a single word, if the word is not used frequently you will not get this so stop using it for sometime(as a single word) or a better way i can think of now is to hit the space bar without fail for those kind of words.

Creating a custom dictionary for Acrobat and Reader.

I want to create a custom dictionary to be used by all of our users when they access a “forms document” through Adobe Reader/Acrobat.
Here are some of the issues:
The default dictionary name under Custom Dictionaries has a .clam extension.
Is there a way to edit this?
Does it contain the index settings for all the other added.txt and excluded.txt dictionary files?
The Reader's default location is under a user’s LocalLow folder.
C:\Users\PIN\ AppData\LocalLow\Adobe\Linguistics\Dictionaries\Adobe Custom Dictionary.
The Acrobat default location is under the user's Roaming folder.
C:\Users\PIN\ AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Linguistics\Dictionaries\Adobe Custom Dictionary\.
This is buried under the users profile and we need to be able to update these files on all the user’s workstations prior to log on.
This could be done by redirection of the new custom dictionary. What is the location of that setting in the registry?
Is there is a way to append to the standard dictionary file so as not to replace any setting that a user may have made to the dictionary?
Is this done to the .clam or .txt file outside of the Adobe Reader application?
What is the “All” setting in the dictionary?
Does that imply the program will look through all the dictionaries?
Is there a way to create a new dictionary name that would appear under the preferences\spelling\dictionaries list. Is there an Index file that would point to a newly created Dictionary folder?

Custom dictionaries must be created with a 3rd party program provided by Proximity (http://www.proximitytechnology.com/spell_correction.htm).
The spelling support files are installed in this directory for all users (this is only the default)
C:\Program Files\Adobe\<product>\Resource\Linguistics\Providers\Proximity
File types include:
ENV - eg: grmphon.env - the phonetic rule file for the spelling dictionary language. There is one of these “ENV” file for each language.
CLX - eg: grm32.clx - a language related part of spelling dictionary. There is one of these “CLX” file for each language.
LEX - eg: grm104.lex - an actual spelling dictionary. There may be several dictionaries for a given language, for example, grm104.lex, grm10401.lex.
So the answer is:
Create a custom dictionary with Proximity and use the Wizard or some other method to deploy the files in the correct location.

Automatic delete of dictionary baseline versions

Hi,
I'm using Grid Control 10.2.0.2.
I'd like to set up nightly dictionary baselines so that I can quickly see what has changed if we experience a problem. However, I don't see any way of automatically purging data so that we avoid ending up with huge numbers of baseline versions.
I guess what I want is a rolling window of baselines - so that I've just got a 1 week history.
Has anyone else faced this issue? Any ideas on how to solve this? Does anyone know if this is in 10.2.0.3?
Should I start filling out the enhancement request in Metalink?

They have not automated the process of purging baselines for a reason. The reason, they presumed that one wouldn't have daily baselines and would have periodic baselines (taken at different milestones- meaning when something changes) to compare.
Looks in your case you have a need for that. You may have to set up a job via dbms_scheduler or cron to delete the baselines using oracle provided PL/SQL packages.(may be dbms_workload_repository)

I had a situation where I had to run log miner to undo some changes. I ran the log miner on the database where SUPPLEMENTAL_LOG_DATA_MIN was not set nor the dictionary was specified. I ran the following and was able to get the undo. I am a little confused there, as Oracle doc stats that SUPPLEMENTAL_LOG_DATA_MIN should be set to YES, before you can mine the logs.
These are the commands :

DATABASE는 SQL COMMAND 'CREATE DATABASE'를 포함하는 STATEMENT를 수행할
때 만들어지는데 우리가 그 STATEMENT를 수행하기 앞서 고려해야 할 사항 중의
하나가 DB CHARACTERSET이다.
DB를 CREATE할 때 DATABSE CHARACTERSET을 명시해야만 하는데, 한번 선택되고
난 후에는 CHARACTER SET을 변경하는 것은 쉽지가 않다.
DATA DICTIONARY에 있는 DATA를 포함해서 모든 DATA는 선택된 CHARACTERSET에
의해 입출력 되기 때문에 USER가 다른 CHARACTERSET으로 ACCESS한다면 한글 데이
타가 ???로 출력된다.
또한, 분산 DB 환경이나 UPGRADE할 경우에는 DATABASE CHARACTERSET이 같아야
하므로, 사용자들은 DATABASE의 CHARACTERSET을 알아 두어야 한다.

REGISTRY 변경 후에 PC를 REBOOTING 할 필요는 없습니다.

WINDOWS NT 에서도 WINDOWS 95의 경우와 마찬가지로 REGISTRY에 기록된
정보를 변경해 주면 됩니다. 다음과 같이 합니다.
DOS 창에서 REGEDT32.EXE 실행
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE -> SOFTWARE -> ORACLE 선택
메뉴를 선택하여 NLS_LANG을 수정
* 서로 다른 character set 을 갖는 DB를 access 하는 client에서는 다음과
같은 setting 을 하면 편리합니다.
예를 들어서 SERVER의 character set이 US7ASCII이고 PC의 NLS_LANG이
American_America.KO16KSC5601과 같이 서로 다르게 설정되어 있는 경우
다음을 각 client의 환경에 추가하면 한글 문제가 해결됩니다.

두 디비가 다른 캐랙터 셋을 쓴다고 해도
디비 자체에는 문제가 없다고 보는데 말이죠..
두 플렛폼을 비교한번해보시고요.
그래도 문제가 생긴다면 님 말씀 대로 바꿔보심이.
위에건 그냥 보시라는거고
중요한건 imp,exp할때 약간 조정이 필요할거 같은데 말이죠.
