Re sizing photos again

Playing about with keynote I have found that I can get the right size by using Appearance in Slide Inspector and the image fill option. Very slow as I can only do one slide at a time but at least it works. Only problem is that if the slides do not fit the screen in say the width (as in a portrait) then I get white bands down the sides. I have tried all ways with selecting black themes and masters but with no success. Any ideas?
I keep thinking this should be easy as all I am trying to do is pull in a iphoto file to fit the screen and be moved on by a manual click on the remote.

Thanks LarryHN - can see why and how you and accumulated so many 'points' (whatever these are!) - you're answered my question and it worked: so thank you "fit to frame" is all i needed/previously used. My problem was trying to edit without a mouse - the keypad drives me nuts but when you use a mouse and right click - aha! I'm amazed at how much traffic and questions there are - so thank goodness you were reading this one. I think my next question is a tad more tricksy.

How to print a series of index photos billfold sized photos

I would like to know how to print index sized photos as well as a series of wallet size photos (all of different subjects) on teh photosmart 7520 all in one....there has to be a way to do it.

How can one send email-sized photo files as attachments in Apple Mail, without the photos appearing in the body of the email? If it can be done, it's not at all obvious, at least not to me. Thanks for any help you can provide.

The "View as icon" option shrinks the photo to an icon in the sender's Apple Mail, but how it appears to the recipient varies dependingy on what e-mail client he/she uses.
Using Apple Mail 5.0 (the Lion version) at both ends, the sender can use the "View as icon" option to shrink his view of the photo to an icon, but the recipient also using Apple Mail 5.0 still sees the full photo in line with the message text. The recipient can then use the "View as icon" option to shrink it to an icon, but I don't think that's not what jackofarabia is looking for.
As far as I know there is no way in the current Apple Mail to do what jackofarabia wants. There should be, but there isn't.

Can I print wallet sized photo's in iPhoto '11?

I've always printed multiple wallet sized photo's on a single sheet of photo paper. After upgrading to iPhoto '11 is there is no option to print wallets?

There does not appear to be a way to do this with a single image selected. But if you select multiple images, and then select to print and then select Contact Sheet from the examples shown in the right hand column that appears, then this will print all the selected photos onto a single sheet.

Wrong full-sized photos show up in "Publish to Folder" web site

I just tried to add a new album to an iWeb-created photo albums site (hosted on my own server), but when I "Publish to a Folder...", the resulting site has some bugs. In particular, the newly-added album has two (of 16) photos in which the thumbnails are correct, but they point to full-sized photos that are part of one of the other albums. It's not that the pointer is wrong, but simply that the .jpg copied into the album's Media folder is wrong. For example, I have a photo titled IMG_0895, for which iWeb creates a subdirectory of the Media folder. Inside are IMG_0895.jpg, micro.jpg, mip.jpg and thumb.jpg. The latter three all show the photo I expected, but IMG_0895.jpg is in fact a photo from a different album. So when you navigate the site, all looks fine until you try to view the full-scale photo. Oddly enough, that original photo from the other album is named IMG_6922.jpg, so there should not be any name confusion. In fact, the album looks fine and has the right large photos when viewed in iWeb, so I'm guessing the error is introduced in the Publish process.
I have just today updated to iWeb'08 v.2.0.3, but don't know if this problem is new or would have happened with older versions too. Any hints or fixes from Apple would be appreciated.

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. On the premise that it's a damaged library that's causing the problem make a temporary, duplicate copy of the library and try the two fixes below in order as needed:
Fix #1
1 - delete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your Home/Library/Preferences folder.
NOTE: If you're moved your library from its default location in your Home/Pictures folder you will have to point iPhoto to its new location when you next open iPhoto by holding the the Option key. You'll also have to reset the iPhoto's various preferences.
2 - delete iPhoto's cache files that are located in the Home/Library/Caches/com.apple.iPhoto folder.
Fix #2
Launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys depressed and follow the instructions to rebuild the library. Select last three options.

Exporting Full Sized Photos?

I made a movie using all still photographs. (It's basically a cartoon) Can I export from iMovie 09 and have the full sized photos show up, in order, in a file?
Basically, I want to export the pictures of the movie and have them in order without any transitions or music or anything.

You can certainly place photos in any order and choose not to apply any transitions. However export is limited to the video resolution of your choice which at best is 1920 x 1080. You shouldn't expect any better despite the original resolution of your photos.

Yes, you ran into a very understandable problem.
When you use Migration Assistant, it cannot over-write the account that you happen to be using at the time. Upon migrating accounts, it will tell you that it is going to create a new one, but that message is easy to miss.
If you have three identical accounts, log in to the account you want to keep, and delete the redundant ones in System Preferences > Users & Groups.
Now that you know, the easiest way to migrate accounts is to use Setup Assistant when you first get a new Mac. That eliminates any possibility for this to occur, but most people are so eager to use their new Mac that they elect to migrate later.
That's OK too, but in that case you would want to create a temporary account whose sole purpose is to run Migration Assistant so that you may migrate your old one with an identical name. Be sure to give the new account Administrator privileges. When that finishes you would log in to the newly migrated account, and delete the temporary account.

When ordering large batch of photos - "transferring" seemed slow. I hit cancel. Did I lose my order? When I try to "buy photos" again it says "connecting" but doesn't seem to connect...

You might want to download something called an undelete utility. These can find files and recover them even after they appear to have been lost. There are some undelete utility programs that are free. Look at tucows.com
Also, it appears that you have POSSIBLY overwritten the actual files, which you moved manually, with I don't know what, which you moved in PSE's folder location view.
Next, in the future ... NEVER (that's: don't even think about it) move your photos in Windows. NEVER. NEVER. Not ever. Not once. This always (that's ALWAYS, as in 100% of the time) causes problems and usually makes things difficult to fix.
Lastly ... make regular backups! I must say this in the forums about seventy bazillion times a month. Make regular backups! Regular depends on how often you take photographs and edit them. Since my photographic activity usually happens on the weekends, I make backups every Sunday night. You may need a different schedule, depending on your activity level. MAKE REGULAR BACKUPS!

How do I download photos again that were previously imported ?

Have PSE6 - Canon G9. I download raw then save as .dng - and edit/save as .jpg. Normally when the Editor is closed, the new dng images are displayed with the option to add to catalog. I do this and then delete the .cr2 image, stacking the .dng and .jpg. The last group of photos done did not display the .dng immediately (has happened before but they updated next time). I did another set and the same thing happened. I then searched for them but couldn't find them. However, when I collapsed the version set created after the .jpg edit, my .cr2 image is gone - only showing a broken photo icon. I want to keep a raw version so I tried to download the photos again from my card but only get the photos that I chose NOT to import. I did go into Prefernces - Camera or Card Reader - and unchecked the "Copy New Files only-ignore already imported files" box but I still cannot import the photos again.
Any thoughts on why this happened in the first place and how I can get my raw image into PSE again? What does this broken photo indicate? I cannot find it mentioned in the online manual or any other Photoshop book I have?

1. The broken photo icon means that the Organizer can't find the photo it is expecting. If you have proceeded for this batch as you did for previous ones and deleted the cr2 file, the broken icon will be the result of this.
2. It's much easier and faster to upload the photos directly from the camera's data card to a folder on your computer using a card reader, then opening the Organizer in Folder View, right-clicking on the folder icon and choosing 'Add Unmanaged Files to Catalog' than it is to upload from the camera itself directly into PSE. If you use the cardreader-to-folder option, you also have complete and hassle-free control over what comes off the camera and what goes into PSE.

Why does my i mac shut down when sizing photos?

I have a new 27' i mac with 2t drive and 16 gigs of ram the Pentium i5 quad core 2.8 ghrtz computer running OS 10.6.7. I have the Adobe Master collection CS5 installed and when sizing photos in photoshop my computer shuts down completely. It crashes the computer not just the program.I have re-installed all software including the OS twice. I have all the latest updates installed.
I have tried using earlier versions of the OS and still have the same problem. One apple tech said there was a letter put out by Adobe in January talking about a conflict with Adobe CS5 and mac OS 10.6.7 but I can't find it. I am also having problems online when filling out online forms or copying and pasting can turn it off as well. Has anyone run into this or similar problems.

I took my computer to the apple store and they tested the hardware for a week and they did replace the power supply but said they could not find anything else wrong and that the ram was ok too. They said the stressed my computer to the max and could not produce the errors that I could do be sizing a 2mg photo.I've been trying to get this fixed for months.
One apple tech said that the error message when he saw it crash said it happened in Quartz? I think thats what it was. They reinstalled my OS to an earlier version and thought that might fix it until Adobe came up with a fix. When I got home I found they installed the wrong version of OS. They walked me through a few downloads to put my computer on 10.6.6 they thought the10.6.7 was the issue but its not.

ICloud wants to upload the same photos again...

I just uploaded 24,000 pics to the iCloud. Now when I tick the setting "iCloud Photo Library" and select "Download originals to this Mac", it wants to upload all the photos again... and of course tells me that I have to upgrade my storage plan... I already have the 500GB plan. It's as if iCloud doesn't recognise that all the pics I uploaded from the same computer. Help...

Hmm, no reply so far... so this is what I did. I saw that all the pics were in fact in the iCloud. So I decided to take the risk and delete all the pics and videos on the hard drive (I have a backup!) and then download them all from iCloud. This seems to have worked. Now all devices are in sync.
However, even now after a few weeks, none of my devices, iphone, ipad and Macbook Pro are able to browse all the pics. It's incredibly slow and very often I get the message : Cannot load Photo! Very annoying. Does anyone else get this? It seems the cloud cannot handle this mass of pictures. Surely I am no exception out there with this number of pictures...
I am very frustrated. I just can't find a good solution for my picture library. Photos seemed good, but it's not working smoothly enough. Am looking at Adobe, Amazon Cloud Drive, Flickr - but they all have certain deficiencies - iCloud would have it all - syncing, editing, storing, sharing, uploading RAW files... but it's the most expensive out there... and it's not really working...
