Re: Skype number renewal

My skype number is 3 days away from expiry.  I have NOT set up the automatic renewal, and now I am unable to renew it, or change payment or renewal options.
I don't want to have the Auto renewal setup, however I would like to manually renew my subscription every year, but this does not seem to be an option?!?

Your account shows that you have been charged correctly. A subscription to a product sets up a recurring payment. This ceases when you cancel the product. If you have canceled you won't be  charged again. Cancellation is effective on the next renewal date and you can use your Skype Number until then.

    I am consistently receiving email notices from Skype that my number will expire in x days.
    For what i read here, it seems the only solution is to wait for it to expire and then apparently it renews automatically.
    If this is the case, why doesn't the automatic message that is sent out say that instead of saying the number willl expire.
    Very poor customer communication for an allegedly top comms company.
    Of course it remains to be seen what actually happens when i reach the due date for expiry of the number!

    If you have changed your payment method from what was originally used or designated when the Skype Number subscription was started, then yes - you will need to wait for the subscription to expire and then sign on to your account dashboard to renew the subscription ("reactivate") using the new payment method. 
    Otherwise, if there is no change in the payment method, the renewal will occur automatically.  I can confirm the automatic renewal works as I just recently had a Skype Number renew.   Interestingly enough, I did not receive an advance notice e-mail alerting me to the impending renewal, although I received a payment and renewal confirmation e-mail.  I will raise the e-mail inconsistency with those to whom I report.
    Skype's billing systems should try to renew the subscription again, three days prior to the Skype Number subscription's expiration.  In Basil's case, now that his PayPal account has been funded, the renewal should process as usual.
    If I understand Basil's post correctly, however, he changed his payment method from PayPal to Skype Credit.  Therefore, upon expiration, Basil should sign on to his account dashboard, where there should be a triangle icon alert announcing the Skype Number subscription needs to be reactivated, and then proceed with the renewal process where there is a step to change the payment method.

    One possible reason why Skype Number does not work is "it already expired". Skype always send email notification on the primary email address of the account about the order confirmation, status of your account/subscription.
    I would suggest that you do the following to see the status of your Skype Number:
    1. Check the inbox of your primary email address on the account. Skype may have sent you an email notification about the status of your Skype Number.
    2. Log in to your account and see if the order for your Skype Number renewal has been delivered. When youlog in to your account in the website, go to Billing and Payments then click on Purchase History. You will see the status of your Online Number renewal, if you dont see the order as Delivered, that means the payment for your Skype Number was not successful.
    If you have any other concerns and questions about your Skype Number, I would suggest that you contact Skype Live Support for real time assistance:

    Here's how to get to Skype Live Support:
    1. Sign in to your account using that link.

  • Skype STOLE my Skype Number after 4 years of ownin...

    I have been in a whirl with Skype's customer service now for 3 weeks. I can't believe how poorly I have been treated. Here is the story:
    I had a Skype number for nearly 4 years now. It was apparently up for renewal on Nov 8, 2013. I can't say why it did not renew. Skype claims my CC on file was expired which it was not. In addition they never notified me that it did not go though. The also did not notify me when they disconnected it. I only found out when a fried tried to call me then called my cell.
    I have at least 4 Skype operators in writing admitting they messed up and never contacted me. There is not a shred of an email, message, text, call nothing to indicate an issue with my number. Since I can still make outbound calls why would I know anything???
    Anyway the moment I became aware of the issues I tried to renew the number. It was FEB 14th and the number had gone back into the available pool. Someone of course had already reserved the number. Luckily the Skype operator ABIGAIL M said it was ok as they did not pay for it and it would be available again on MARCH 4th so I should sit tight and grab it again then. I am sorry I decided to calm down and agree to this...
    March 4th I sign on at 11:20AM Eastern and surprise the number is still not available. I get back on with Skype operator CHERRY O who tries to tell me I can't get the number back for another 60 days and that ABIGAIL M was wrong to say 30 days. I lose it at this point and sign off to try again with another operator later.
    At 7PM Eastern I get online with JAIME T who now informs me that ABIGAIL M was right and it was CHERRY O who was wrong. Problem is that before I could grab my number back that someone else had already taken it and paid for it! WTF!!!!!!!!!!!
    Then March 5th from 7:20PM Eastern though 11:30PM Eastern I go through RACHEL N, JESUS M and finally RYAN M. I am begging every one of these people to SIMPLY CONTACT THE NEW BUYER and POLITELY ASK THEM TO SWITCH NUMBERS. They don't have to agree to change but would assumingly as they wouldn't want to get calls for me from 4 years of business contacts, etc.
    NOT ONE OF THE 5 SKYPE OPERATORS HELPED RESOLVE THIS. None would agree to moderate between myself and the current number holder to do a transfer. If that person simply gives up the number it would be a 90 day wait with no way to guarantee I'd get the number back. They need to do a transfer as this is the only way to make it work. I have no way to contact them aside from calling the number and leaving voicemails.
    Skype has done nothing for me other than to repeatedly say "sorry".
    SOMEONE STEP UP, GO UP THE LADDER TO WHOEVER CAN RESOLVE THIS. I mean really it shouldn't be that hard and it's 100% Skypes fault - over and over in this incident.

    What you so well describe here, a number transfer (highlighted by me in orange type) is not something Skype has the facility to do:
    None would agree to moderate between myself and the current number holder to do a transfer. If that person simply gives up the number it would be a 90 day wait with no way to guarantee I'd get the number back. They need to do a transfer as this is the only way to make it work. I have no way to contact them aside from calling the number and leaving voicemails.
    In the system's simplicity, there is no flexibility. 
    Just out of curiosity ... and curiosity alone, have you checked the e-mail address on your account to double-check it is the correct registered e-mail address?  I ask because I recently did a Skype Number renewal, and I received e-mail alerts every step of the way.

    Incoming calls from telephones to my skype number drop after 3-5 seconds
    I spent a while trying to seriously diagnose this problem with Skype support a year ago, but didn't get anywhere; I came to the conclusion that there was something wrong with the network at my end. But it's irritating me again now, so I thought I'd check whether anyone else gets this problem. It's incoming calls only, to the skype number only. I can recieve incoming calls from Skype fine, I can make outgoing calls to Skype and to telephone numbers fine, the problem affects both Skype on my Android Mobile (when it's connected to my home WiFi) and Skype on my Windows Desktop - so, not a software configuration thing.
    When making a test call from my mobile to my Skype In number, it drops at the Skype end several seconds before the mobile notices the line is dead; definitely dropping out at the Skype level, and not the telephone network level.

    Trying to get an answer to
    "How do I change the setting for my Skype Number renewal from 3 months to Annual renewal?"
    is proving to be the usual "what should take 2 minutes" is proving to be MISSION IMPOSSIBLE!!!
    This in the 2013 where we supposed to have "arrived" technologically as far as Microsoft are concerned!

    the only way to accomplish what you wish is to cancel the quarterly subscription and purchase an annual one
    if you cancel the existing sub, it runs to expiry, but you won't lose the number because it is reserved for you for 90 days

  • Unable to renew Skype Number

    When I log into Skype, it tells me my number is about to expire. When I click on "Settings" to renew it, it simply tells me I have insufficient Skype funds (I don't). All it will allow me to do is "Update" my payment settings, even though it actually won't (when I press "billing" nothing happens). When I go to the section of the site to download a number, it only aks me to purchase a new one. HALP.

    On the day your Skype Number subscription expires, it will be automatically renewed for the same period of time for which you initially purchased it.
    To change your Skype Number payment method:
    Sign in to your account.
    In the Manage features section, click Skype Number. You’ll see the next payment due date under your Skype Number.
    Click Settings. 
    Here you can change your existing payment method.
    You can change your payment method as long as the new method supports recurring payments, such as a credit card, PayPal or Skype Credit. This is not possible in countries where the payment cannot be made from your Skype Credit balance.
    When you cancel your subscription and your Skype Number expires, you can reactivate it from your account within 90 days.

  • My Skype number had been renewed but I'm not getti...

    I have an active subscription at the moment, so I'm expecting my Skype # will get a discount when it renew.
    However, I was charged full credit, what's going on? Can I arrange to get a refund on the incorrect transaction and re-subscript to my skype number again on a discounted rate?

  • Skype number subscription unwanted automatic renew...

    it is inconvenient when a subcription lapses, one might beleive it cancels. not so, it will instead automatically renew without further authorization. i no longer need a skype number but wish to use the land and mobile call out feature so when i added skype credit, it was intended for calling out only and i feel i did not authorize a payment for the skype number, it just deducted my skype credit anyway. now i don't have enough money to pay for my call out script since no refunds are available.
    perhaps skype can charge a correction fee and refund at least some of the unexpectedly deducted funds or cancel a script when it lapses? this would seem a friendlier approach.

    I am sorry to bother you with this but after 15 minutes of searching I could not find any support number, email address or anything for Skype. Is this true??????? A paid service with no support? Just a bunch of FAQ items that does not help?
    The problem is: I have some Skype Numbers. Before they expire, I usually receive a warning and then I go there and manually pay $60 to extend them for another year. At least this is how it worked in the past.
    Now I received an email saying that my automatic payment (whaaaaat???) failed and my Skype Number will expire within 2 days.
    The problems are:
    1. I have never asked them to debit my account automatically.
    2. And especially not with $18 which is 3 months only. I want another year.
    3. Nothing changed with my credit cars do why did it fail?
    4. Where have all the manual payment options gone???????
    There is no button or any option to pay manually. It only allows me to change the payment method. There is no way I can pay the annual fee.
    Is this a Microsoft trick so that I will lose my number? Can anyone help me as apparently there is no support for Skype but a bunch of useless FAQ items. I pay for this service but I cannot get help.
    Anyone, please, help. I do not want this to expire. This is the number my mother calls me at from the other side of the planet. This is VERY important to me. This is the only way she can contact me. Please, help.

    Hi,
    As I understand it, the process is simply to cancel the three-month subscription (you can do this via your account or by contacting Skype Customer Service).  You will not lose your current Skype Number; it will be held for you for 90 days following the end of the current subscription term).  Then, after the subscription expires, sign on to your account and renew your Skype Number for the term you wish.  If you wish to cover the cost using Skype Credit, ensure there is enough credit on account prior to renewing.
    Here is a link to the instruction on how to contact Skype Customer Service via their secure portal: Contact Customer Service
    As you know you intend to contact Customer Service, skip past Step 2 of the instruction where several articles from the FAQ library will appear for you to review, and proceed to Step 3, Continue Support Request (the "button" appears at the lower right corner of the website page). You may also skip past in Step 4 where you will be referred back here to the Community; no need to do this as the Community is where you started.
