Re: Solution Manager & SAP Netweaver

Hi,
I would like to know about the solution manager, whether it is pre-configured one SAP R/3 or external tool for monitoring sap.
SAP R/3 is an ERP. If i need to install BW then i need Netweaver to be installed to have components like BW APO XI etc.
My understanding is rite or ...
Please give more information about solution manager.

Hi,
The SAP NetWeaver technology platform is a comprehensive integration and application platform
that helps reduce the total cost of ownership (TCO). It facilitates the integration and alignment of
people, information, and business processes across organizational and technological boundaries. SAP
NetWeaver easily integrates information and applications from virtually any source.
SAP ERP is the underlying technology on which all the packages work like SAP BW, EP, NW etc.
SAP Solution Manager is SAP's new service and support platform that helps to implement and operate SAP solution efficiently.
SAP Solution Manager consists of:
1. Central documentation of system landscapes and core business processes
2. Implementation tools, key functional implementation aspects such as blueprinting, configuration and testing
3. Access to SAP Support Services and Best Practices
4. Periodic service level reporting and real-time monitoring of system components and business processes
5. Advanced message handling for fast problem analysis and resolution including the SAP Note Assistant and a direct connection to the SAP Support Back Office.
Note : Be aware that you require an SAP Solution Manager system (minimum release 3.2 SP8) to install or upgrade to SAP NetWeaver 7.0. An SAP Solution Manager system is required to generate the SAP Solution Manager key needed during the installation or upgrade process. Without this key, the
installation or upgrade process cannot continue. For more information, see SAP Note 805390.
For more informaton on SAP NW & SOLMAN you can download the guides from SMP :

  • Digital signature in SAP Records Management (SAP Netweaver Folders Manager)

    Hi experts,
I have a record with various documents and I want to implement digital signature in documents (Transaction: ORGANIZER). I read in IPS640 SAP Manual that there are a button (key symbol) to do this but I don't have this button. Can you explain me how to implement this?
A lot of thanks in advance.
    Regards,

    Hi JV,
You need to define the repository in OAC0 transaction. As per my analysis now your document are stored in sap database.
If you are using separate serever then confuigure as follows in OAC0:
Document area : SAP Records Management
    Storgae type : RFC Archive
define IP address and port. Then goto CSADMIN and activate the certificate for the same.
or if using SAP Database then make the changes in above areas.
Then these archived documents will get saved in content server instead of sap database.
    Hope this will help.

  • SAP NW Solution Manager 4.0 Administrator/J2EE_ADMIN password locked out

    Guys,
I was successfully able to install SPA Solution Manager v4.0(ECC 6.0)  JAVA+ABAP Stack.
Post Installation, I am tried to logon to the SolMan (User Management & SAP Netweaver Adminsitrator) through HTTP (IE) URL  http://<localhost>:port
The homepage displays just fine. When try to authenticate to User Management & SAP Netweaver Adminsitrator using following commbinatioln, the authentication fails.
    user = J2EE_ADMIN  password = <ADMIN>
    OR
user = user = J2EE_ADMIN  password = <admin> (Not sure if the password is case sensitive)
Now, I looked at the alerts and found that J2EE_ADMIN user is locked.
Does anyone of you know how to unlock this id and what its password should be ?
Any alternative user id/password can be used to login ?
Should I have to install SAP GUI for Java or ABAP ?
Please help me login to solution manager.
    Thanks for your help!!
    Chris.

    Hello,
as far as I know you can login with a sapgui to your installed system. If you did an standard installation, then the J2EE stack is bound the client 001. Therefore logon as DDIC or SAP* to the ABAP part with SAPGui and unlook the J2EE_ADMIN user.
You had tp specify the passwort of all users during the installation process of SOLMAN 4.0. If you did an standard installation, you only specified one password for all kind of users.

  • SAP Solution Manager - Enterprise Support Report bw cubes

We are looking at the Infoproviders in Solution Manager BW and noticed the data for SAP Solution Manager - Enterprise Support Report.
When we look at these cubes, we are particularly interested in the Software Component Versions.
Unfortunately, all of these data cubes are empty.  Based on some discussions among our colleagues we are wondering if this data is only activated for customers that have the full Enterprise Support agreement in place with SAP?
If that is the case, then so be it (we don't have that level of support).  However, if that is not the case, can anyone suggest a way to populate these cubes.
    thanks,
    Jeff Henke

    Hi,
Solution Manager is a separate component and needs to be installed separately (not possible to install on top of R/3 Enterprise).
You can order SAP Solution Manager Software from SAP or download from http://service.sap.com/swdc
Solution manager is free from SAP and no additional license involved for it's customer for normal use.
You can get more information on Solution manager from http://service.sap.com/solutionmanager
btw: as far as I know for R/3 Enterprise you can still download patches via http://service.sap.com/swdc  without solution manager, For Netweaver 7.0 systems, use of Solution Manager (Maintenance Optimizer) became mandatory.
    Cheers !!
    Satya.
PS: Pls reward points if the answer was helpful...Thx.

    Hello Richard,
    (1) regarding network connections see document [Draft:Technical Support Network Connections for VAR Scenario|http://service.sap.com/~form/sapnet?_SHORTKEY=00200797470000089947&_OBJECT=011000358700000880802009E] as overview and with a lot of detailed information.
    (2) yes, you have to setup once all your customer connections at the beginning but then only add/remove with customer contract changes
    (3) the workaround by sending by email can handled a anexception. EWA has to be done for productive systems like nowadays done by SAP. Additional EWA services could meas additional business case for a VAR - that's contract between VAR and customer.
    (4) whatever you think may be a business to sell - do it ! (and get a monetary bonus from your boss
    Kind regards

  • Upload of Test Cases in SAP Solution Manager.

    Hello,
I am trying to create a project and its component in SAP Solution Manager with 12 Test Plans. The Test Plans have different number of test cases. I do not have the Test cases now, but I shall have them in future. I currently have the following data.
    Test Plan ID
    Module
    Business Process
    Business Area
    Sub Business Area
    Test Case Description
    Test Case Details
    Transaction Codes
    Priority of Test Cases
Can I create a structure of a project in the development system in which I have 12 Test Plans and n number of Test Cases under every Test Plan? The structure would have place holder for each test case in which I can upload the Test Cases later. Is that possible?
    Regards,
    Namrata.

    Hi Namrata,
Yes, you can create project structure before using solar01 tcode. later once your test cases (either manual or automatic) are ready then you can upload them using solar02 on test cases tab,
refer Link Test Case to Transactions/Reports - Configuration - SAP Library
Assignments - SAP Solution Manager - SAP Library
