Re: Stellite U400 BIOS update crashes - Windows 7 64-bit

Hello!
1. I upgrade Vista >> Windows 7 64-bit version (not upgrade) I do the complete installation.
2. Everything is okey after installation and computer runs well, but...
3. I tried to update the latest bios version... ...and installation crashes. The computer should restart, but...
4. I can see blank screen only. I can hear 3 "beep" messages and nothing happens (1 long beep - 2 short beep).
5. Computer does not start
It shows that the bios does not run at all. I need help on this issue! How I can put the bios back in the system?

I want to upgrade my bios if possible due to all the upgrades, when I looked in this site it doesn't mention windows 8 operating system with my PC? My system info is below.
Compaq Presario SR2129UK bios update for windows 8 pro 32bit.
    Any help would be appreciated.

    Hi:
The only BIOS update for your model is for Windows Vista (v5.23).
There aren't any newer BIOS releases than that one.
You would need to be running Windows Vista in order to update the BIOS, or you would run a better than 99% chance of completely wrecking your PC.

  • Crashing Techra TE2000 Needs Bios Update, Using Windows XP. Any Advice?

I have an older Toshiba TE2000 that has been crashing lately due to an insufficient BIOS update. It also states there is a problem with the RAM. Each time the computer crashes and reboots, it sends me to a Windows supports site that has diagnosed the problem, referring me to a BIOS update.
I have been doing my homework and know that a BIOS update is very tricky and can lead to permanent damage. It may be necessary.. however I don't want to have to buy a new laptop.
Can anyone offer any advice or support?
It started crashing a few weeks ago, and crashed three times the other day. Are the crashes affecting my computer and what will happen if I don't update soon?
    Thanks for all your help

    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Go to the Product Support Link at the top of this page, enter in your model, then clik on the Download Tab to find the available bios files for that model.  DO NOT update the bios from within Windows.  Don't do it, don't even think about doing it if you want to use your computer again.  When you double click on the download you will be presented with the choice of creating a CD to flash the bios from.  USE THIS METHOD.  You can use a CD-RW so you don't waste a blank, but even the cost of a regular blank CD is cheap compared to the $100 that most places will charge you to fix a botched bios flash.  Be sure to burn the CD at the slowest possible speed to ensure the best possible quality.  Make sure that your battery is fully charged, installed, and the AC Adapter is plugged in just in case.
And don't forget to go into the bios and hit the F9 key to load Bios/Setup Defaults then F10 to exit and save just prior to and immediately after updating the bios.
If you don't post your COMPLETE model number it's very difficult to assist you. Please try to post in complete sentences with punctuation, capitals, and correct spelling. Toshiba does NOT provide any direct support in these forums. All support is User to User in their spare time.

  • Notebook does not start after BIOS Update crash

    Hi all,
I just want to ask whether is a chance to reactivate my Satellite A300 after a BISO update crash without send it to the Toshiba service.
I downloaded the new BISO and started it from the Windows menu. After a few seconds my PC crashed and everything was frozen.
    I switched off the PC.
Now when I press the power button to start the Notebook the monitor is black and I can hear a sound brrr, brrr, brrr from the CD-Rom drive.
Do you think it is possible to boot from a CD or something like that. Is it possible to reactivate my notebook?
Your help would be really appreciated!
    Thanks a lot
    Best regards,
    Chotte

Sorry but if the BIOS chip is damaged there is no much you can do about it. You must contact authorized Toshiba service provider.

  • Qosmio F50-10Z Bios update crashed - how do I reset cmos?

I have a Qosmio F50-10Z and as prompted by toshiba I downloaded the Bios update and began to install.
My screensaver came on and the whole thing crashed.
Would not turn off (even after holding down power button for 15 secs).
Took battery out and then put it back in. Computer powers on but screen is blank and won't boot up.
Tried to take it apart to flash the bios by taking out rtc/cmos battery (whatever it's called) but can't find the battery and got to the point where I wasn't willing to take it apart any further (has no-one else ever taken one apart?
Couldn't find information or diagram or photo of where the battery was on net...manual for laptop really unhelpful)
Have found comments about crisis disks but I don't know what this means.
So, how to I reset bios?
Please help - you are my only hope.

Thanks for your comments. Do you know where I can download a Bios flasher or Bios recovery crisis disk from? There seem to be a lot floating around forums but I cannot find anything specifically for my laptop. Am I missing something on the Toshiba website? I have seen people mention downloading a bios flash utility from toshiba (specifically for the F45) but can't figure out where they are getting this from...
In response to your recommendation - I know that is what I am encouraged to do but I'm in the UK - my nearest Toshiba recommended technicians are PC world conglomerate - the sort of guys who pat me on the head when I ask for specific RAM (rather than 'some memory, please'), look blankly at you when you say the word Bios, and bang their mouse when the computer freezes! Besides, they want 50 up front whether or not they manage to fix it, and given how many of my friends computers they have failed to fix that my boyfriend then fixed in ten minutes, I might as well burn my money as send it to them.

  • ITunes update crashed windows, no bootable hard drive

When I went to shut down my computer last night, there was an iTunes update.  I clicked ok, then put the computer on the table.  Next thing I know, I get the dreaded blue screen with a bunch of characters, saying, I think, Windows has encountered an error.  It tried to re-boot, but said that there was no bootable drive.  Naturally, I panicked.  Ran the entire Pre-boot check, everything passed.  Tried to re-boot, same thing happened.  Frustrated, I turned my machine off, then back on and everything appears to be ok.  However, I'm afraid to try the update again.  Any suggestions?

I believe you boot your windows and update immediately will help.  Sometimes when windows run for a period of time, the system is unstable. Then when you install something, it may crash windows.  So anytime install a software, reboot windows first to ensure system clean.

  • EQUIUM U400 BIOS Update link broken

    Hi,
I'm trying to download the Bios update for my Equium U400 (dated 4th November) but the link appears to be broken. I have hunted high and low for a way to contact Toshiba about this but can't find anything helpful.
Does anybody have any ideas as to where else I may be able to find a suitable bios upgrade?
    Cheers.

    Hi
I think this could be a temporal server issue and I think this should be fixed in the next time
You should try to download this BIOS later

  • Bios update on windows 7?

    Hi
Ideas how to get the windows bios updater work on windows 7?
    I my case: pr60v200.exe
or.. How to update from an USB stick?
    Thanks

    Hi
Your question is a little bit confusing but if you install the BIOS update nothing will happen on XP. If you make a dual boot system you can still boot from XP and Windows 7 too.
As Lars already wrote the BIOS has nothing to do with OS that you install. ;)
Furthermore there is no BIOS update that only works with Windows 7. This is not known to me. The only difference is that for some notebooks are BIOS versions for 32bit OS and 64bit OS. If you install Windows 7 32bit and XP is 32bit everything will work properly on both OS.

You have big problem now. Obviously the BIOS is screwed up now and in such case only authorized service provider can help you with this.
What you can do is to check this thread and try to follow advice described there. Maybe you will be lucky and bring your notebook to work again.
    Check it out.

Is there any chance to make a Bios update (acutally I have 1.50)
Is there an ISO image or dos tools - so I can create my own ISO image...

    Hi!
Why do you want to update the BIOS? Is it really necessary?
I mean a BIOS update is always a little bit risky because in worst case you could destroy the ROM module and then it must be reflashed from a notebook technician or in worst case the mainboard must be exchanged.
Anyway, I think a BIOS update is not possible on your OS. This update can only be done on Windows a running Windows system.
In your case I would ask the nearest ASP as Eldorado suggested. Maybe they are able to do the update on DOS.
    Bye

  • ThinkPad Yogo S1 BIOS Update makes Windows unbootable

    Model: 20CD0032US
On Saturday I updated the BIOS on my ThinkPad Yoga S1 to the latest version, v1.24. Beginning on Sunday, I started getting numerous BSoD erros when booting Windows 8.1. Previously, this laptop has been absolutely ROCK SOLID for the year I've owned it.
    A few errors I recieved:
    Critical System Driver Contains Errors
    fltmgr.sys
    0xc0000221
    bfadi.sys
    0xc0000221
"Digital signature for this file couldn't be verified" (didnt' specifify a file)
    0xc0000428
    ntoskrnl.exe
    0xc0000428
After trying all the usual MBR and file system command line tricks, I still couldn't get it to boot. I tried playing with the SecureBoot settings in BIOS to no avail. I finally reinstalled Windows 8.1 since I had nothing significant on this laptop. (I pretty much use it for basic Office and automotive diagnostics. My desktop is my primary PC.)
That was Sunday. It all seemed fine except for one random BSoD due to some driver file. I didn't think much of it since I had installed dozens up Windows updates and updated drivers. I went to bed Sunday night with everything being fine.
The laptop was unplugged for a few hours and when I went to boot it up I started getting the same random BSoD's as above. No matter what, I couldn't get Windows to boot. I finally did a Reset to OS Optimized Defaults in BIOS and it magically booted. Everything seemed fine. I walked away to get some dinner and the laptop went to sleep. When I tried to wake it up, the BSoD's started all over again. Reset to OS Optimized Defaults once again worked.
I went into the BIOS and enabled installing older BIOS versions. I reinstalled 1.23 (GQET43WW) and everything seems fine so far.
    Question is this:
Do I have a larger problem than a buggy BIOS update?
Could it be just a bad BIOS flash and is it worth trying 1.24 again?
Has anyone else experienced this problem with 1.24?
    Thanks for the help!
    -Erik

Good news. I've managed to resolve the problem. Just in case anyone else has the same issue. I reset the bios to factory settings, and disabled the secure boot entirely and it updated! You could try with just the latter first, else do a full reset. If you reset you might find that the system won't boot from the hard/ss drive. You have to switch UEFI to "Both". At least that is what I found.

  • Satellite U400 - Bios update procedure failed

    Hey Guys,
    I need some help!
I was updating my works laptop Bios and i had the power cord conected and (no battery, it was at home).
Anyway we had a blackout right in the middle of when i was doing the up date.
Now when the computer starts up all the lights come on and there is no display and then a long beep.
Any ideas on how i can fix this?
    It's still under warenty
    thanks
    Michael

    Hello
Sounds like that the BIOS update failed because the notebook doesnt start anymore
How can you fix this? Yourself you cant fix it I think because the ROM module must be reflashed or the mainboard must be exchanged but you can go to the nearest authorized service provider.
The technicians can check this and repair it. On the Toshiba website you can search for the nearest ASP:
http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com => Support & Downloads => Find an authorized service provider
    Good luck!!!

  • Satellite L500 - BIOS update crash

    Hi,
I attempted to update my BIOS on my notebook because it was suggested on Tempro, and now I wish I hadnt have bothered.
My laptop has now been updating for 3 hours at the programming step 3 of 37 stage on BIOS flash and is completely frozen it wont do anything at all.
I know I shouldnt turn it off,but gave that a try and even that wouldnt work.
Its just sat humming and I dont know what to do with it.
    Any ideas would be great
    Thanks

    Hi,
    > My laptop has now been updating for 3 hours at the programming step 3 of 37 stage on BIOS flash and is completely frozen it wont do anything at all.
The Bios update takes several minutes to complete. it looks like that the Bios failure process goes wrong. If you turn it off, you will get a blank screen. I even don't know what to advise you. You can wait but I don't think it finishes well.
The bad thing is that you have to go to ASp (service center) and ask them to reflash for money. Unfortunately, there is no warranty for Bios failure
