I have a 2011 Macbook Air and i've updated to 10.8. I then downloaded the 10.8.2 combo update and it said i dont have enough storage space to update, so then i deleted a whole heap of stuff but now its saying i have less space than before. WHYYYYYYY?
The 10.8.2 has been causing absolute havoc for several different models of machines, mainly the 2012 machines. Older machines, from what I've encountered handle it perfectly fine. I can dig up another 20 or so if necessary, there's plenty to pick from as of this evening.
The combo update you pulled off the website is not compatible with your MacBook Air, that's why your receiving the error message. Currently it's "sit tight at 10.8.1" for many newer models.

5GB is typically not enough space to download a movie. Often, movies take from 3 - 5 GB to begin with. The only option you have is to delete more things from your iPad. You can remove unused Apps, pictures, music, text message (messages with pictures can take up a lot of space), email messages, books, magazines etc.

Problem with Storage and iCloud
Hello! I have a problem, and I've read some other threads here and tried what was suggested, but it's still not working for me.
I am using an iPhone 4s. I have purchased 15.0 GB total iCloud storage and I have 10.5 GB available.
This is my problem. I get an error message constantly saying that my storage is full, even though there's barely anything on my phone---and when I say barely anything, I mean it: I have about 3 pages of apps, no games, no large apps, and the most photos I can take before I run out of space is about 30 (!!!) which *****. As I mentioned, there is plenty of space on the cloud (10.5 GB free).
I read on another thread that this is a bug and that I should restart my phone and then do a new backup to the cloud. Only when I try to do that, it says it will take 80+ hours to complete. I suppose to could just leave my phone at home where there's a wi-fi signal and not use my phone for 3+ days, but realistically, that is just not an option; also my wi-fi *****, is slow, and goes out from time to time. If I leave of course I lose my wi-fi signal and the backup stops, and then I have to start it over when I get back.
What should I do? This has become a problem and is getting worse; I used to be able to take 100 photos or more before it filled up and cut me off, but the number has been steadily decreased over the past 2 months, to now filling up at 30 or sometimes less with short videos. Halp!Sound like there may be something corrupt on your phone if you only have a few apps. 2.46 GB for Other is also quite large, unless you have a massive amout of app data from one of your apps. I would suggest you back up your phone on your computer, then restore it. To do this, do the following:
Connect your phone to your computer, open iTunes, go to File>Devices>Transfer Purchases
Click on the name of your phone in iTunes, go to the Summary tab of your iTune sync settings and click Back Up Now.
After the backup finishes, go to the Summary tab and click Restore.
Your phone will be restored, then it will restart and reappear in iTunes and give you the option to either set it up as a new phone or restore from backup. Choose to restore from backup, selecting the backup you made at the beginning to restore from.
When finished, check to capacity bar again to see if the values look more reasonable. If so, try your iCloud backup again. -
I cannot acces my IPhone due to i get a notification saying that i dont have enough storage and i need to back it up with ICloud but it wont let me click close or settings there for i cannot recieve calls or acces my email or text messages. I even tried turning off the power but it wont let me do anything please help !
If the iPhone won't Restart you should be able to Reset it. Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button together for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
For the future (in case you don't' know), go to Settings > iCloud > Storage & Backup > Manage Storage, and choose your Device under the Backups list.
Under the Backup Options turn off anything you don't care about (being backed up, that is). This will let you reduce the backup size so that it fits in iCloud again. You can also delete the current backup here.
You should also check Settings > General > Usage and look at how much data each app is storing. Identify problem apps and go clean out unwanted files.

Can't find the storage and backup link to start an icloud backup
Why is it that when you create an icloud account the Storage and Backup link isn't always there. I need to create an icloud account and then create an icloud backup right away so that I can setup multiple ipads using the icloud backup. How do I force an icloud backup?
ThanksYou can check your Junk/Spam folders, sometimes the e-mail gets sent there. Also, double check that the primary e-mail address in your Apple ID account is hers. If none of this works, I suggest to wait it out, sometimes it can take up to 24 hours!

I use two different Apple ID's for two iPhone 4's and for iTunes on my PC. I use one for purchases and the other for Find My iPhone on both phones. How can I set up iCloud for both phones using each ID for it's user for storage and backup but keep one ID for purchases and one for Find My iPhone on both phones?

I know it saounds crazy maybe but I dont know much about this kind of thing.. I dont know how to get the storage fixed. I purchased the extra storage on Icloud a while back and it still isnt backing up like it says it is.. I took alot of apps off that i use even. I wanted to try to get more storage for the 7.1 and it says to manage storage so I deleted apps and it still didnt work so I looked to see if it has backed up anything. It says it did but the storage in Iclous was the same as it was two montths ago. I am not sure what I am doing wrong. I am sure it is simple and I am over looking it.

I have an iPod 4s and I am trying to update to IOS 6.1.6. I keep trying to download but it will not allow me to click download and install. I have checked my storage and I have more than enough storage space available. Do you guys have any suggestions?
The only available, signed, iOS, for your iPod, is iOS 7.1. That's why you can't install iOS 6.1.6.

Can I use two Time Capsules? one as an extension of my laptop (for music and video storage) and the other one to back up everything from the laptop and Time Capsule (for music and videos)
Not via Time Machine. It cannot back up from a network location.
The 3rd-party apps CarbonCopyCloner and ChronoSync may be workable alternatives.
EDIT: And, if you're going to do that, you could back up from the Time Capsule to a USB drive connected to the TC's USB port. Second TC not required.

I have an old Ipad and an IPad Air. I used one Apple ID for both IPads. Now I wish to split the iCloud storage and separate the two. I want to change my new IPad Air to a New Apple ID. How do I do it?
Go to Settings > iCloud > Delete Account, and enter your Apple ID password. Then sign in with the new ID.
NOTE: "Delete Account" just means it will be deleted from the iPad. The account itself will not be deleted. -

My iphone 4s keeps saying it does not have enough icloud storage and icloud cannot be backed up. When I go to icloud Storage & Backup in my settings, it says that I have 5.0 GB total and 5.0 GB available. The only thing I have selected, at this point, to be backed up are my contacts and the Find My iPhone app. Why does it always say I have no icloud storage available when I have ALL of the icloud storage available?!
It says that my next backup size is 7.3 GB, but I have no idea why, because the only thing selected is the Find iPhone app, which takes up 0.2 KB...How do I get rid of whatever it THINKS it's backing up?

How long did you wait for the systm to catch up to your request for more storage? it can take a little while, up to an hour sometimes I have heard.
If you don't see any more room after waiting a while, try resetting your phone to see if it appears then.

For the last month or so my icloud won't back up, it keeps telling me that there is too much storage and I need to delete some data. But I have deleted between 3-400 photos and it is still saying the same, can anyone please help
If they were deleted from your camera roll that should have resulted in a corresponding decrease in the estimated size of your next backup.
If it's still saying that you don't have enough storage to back up, read through this article: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4847. It provides some suggestions for reducing your iCloud storage, such as deleting unneeded email.
The other area to look at is your text messages. These are included in the backup. If you have lots of photos and videos attached to your messages, that can significantly increase the size of your backup. If that's the case, deleting these may make a big difference. -
I have a Time Capsule with 2tb of storage, and an I-Mac with 500Gb. (which is at capacity) Can I use the Time Capsule to store data from my hard drive that I want to access later in addition to backing up the hard drive?

Yes, but if you move the "original" data on your iMac to the Time Capsule....then the "original" data is now on the Time Capsule disk.
When...not if...the Time Capsule disk has a problem, you have no backups for this data.
Perhaps a much safer plan might be to add an external hard drive attached directly to your iMac. Then, move the data to that drive from the iMac.
Now, Time Machine will back up both your iMac and the external hard drive so you have "originals" on one drive and backups on another. Would that plan work for you? -
