  • Skype Connect & Unlimited Call Plans

We are currently using Elastix (Asterisk based) to receive and make calls in our office.  Since we are already using Skype on our laptops, it would make sense to use Skype in the office as well.  However, as a startup company with minimum needs, we need to keep an eye on cost.
I already browsed through the forum and it appears that people are using Skype with Elastix successfully, but what about the calling plans?  Can we just sign up for Skype Connect and link to an unlimited plan to make outgoing calls?  I am guessing that we would require one plan per channel?
I saw the call limitations for the unlimited calling plans, but we would never exceed the listed totals.
    Thanks!

With a Skype Connect SIP channel subscription and Cisco SPA504g, am I able to use my Unlimited World calling plan for outgoing calls, or am I forced to use the standard Skype calling rates for outgoing calls, or is another entirely different option possible?
If I am forced to use the standard Skype calling rates, does that mean 4.5¢1/min for Johannesburg, South Africa?
    Thank you.
Unlimited world or other calling subscription available for personal accounts won't work for SIP account(Skype Connect). Calls using Skype Connect will use Skype Credits or the 5000 calling minutes to US (The only calling subscription for SIP).

  • Have a discontinued calling plan. Will I be forced into new plan when my contract is up next month?

I looked around for the answer, but couldn't find it.
I have an old plan, "family national freedom 900", with two lines on it.  The total is 59.99 + 9.99 (talk only, no texting). My contract ends 9/29.  We have two samsung hues.
When my contract ends next month, will I be forced to change to one of the new, more expensive family plans?
Both phones are eligibe for Ne2.  I'd like to get a droid2, and I understand that I'd have to do the data plan for 29.99, and I'd be happy keeing the hue for the other phone (or we could upgrade it to another feature phone that does not require a data plan), but I'd really like to be able to keep my current calling plan.  Any idea if this will work?  Should I just hold off on upgrading until I know what is going to happen with my plan?

You may want to ask this on the Alltel board  - Former Alltel Customer Assistance - (if you haven't already) where those more familiar with Alltel, the changeover, and all the nuances and ramifications can give you a better answer.  It may be possible to do what you want and still keep your Alltel plan, but my guess is you would be switched to a Verizon plan.
The closest would be the Talk plan for 69.99 for 700 minutes (same price, but fewer minutes) and then add the data plan for the Droid 2.  If you do not upgrade, you will be able to keep your plan indefinitely.  When you do upgrade, most likely you will need to change your plan to a Verizon one...there are some people that have kept their Alltel calling plans with smartphones though, so it IS possible. I'm not sure of the details of the plans and phones involved though....

  • Error message when I calling planning layout in the STS

    Dear
I'm trying to use Status and Tracking System with BPS ( SEM 4.0 SP10,  BW 3.5 SP14 ).
But I got some error messages when I calling planning layout in the STS screen..
    I designed 2 lower unit(A,B) and 1 upper unit(C) for the test. and using Bottom-up work-flow.
    I did
    1. Create Planning Area in the BPS0 ( also Level, Package, Layout ..)
    2. Created Web Interface in the Web Interface Builder using the upper BPS Layout .
    3. Customizing STS
        - Create Sub Plan & Session
        - Asssign Hierarchy to Sub Plan
        - Determine attribute for created planning session ( Bottom-up, Auto mail )
        - Define Header characteristics for planning session to contains the planning package completely.
        - Determine Date, Person Responsible and Layout.
    4. Send Start mail
    5. Open STS Web Start Screen ( using B Unit responsible user .)
When he click "Open Planning" icon in the screen the following error messages were happened...
I've no idea for that because I didn't use any variables or offset settings.
I guess that comes from header settings for the planning session because when I deleted the header settings for the planning sessions, I could see the planning layout.
but I could not use lock processing in the STS.
Could you tell me what's happening to me?
      [ Following error message ]
Correct the data on variables and offset in character string "?
    Message Number  UPC_FW092
    Long Text  Diagnosis
Character string "", which contains data on the variables and offset, has an invalid format, and cannot be converted.
    Procedure
Correct the character string, so that it has the correct format. A correct entry on variable and offset has the following form:
    <VARIABLE_NAME> [{ + | - } OFFSET]
    Examples:
    VAR0
    VAR1+1
    VAR2 - 2.
Also check whether the variable, that you want to use is available in the planning area.

    Hello,
this seems to be a bug. The error message should include a variable name between ''. Since there is none, the function that raises the error was not called correctly.
It's not likely that this is related to STS since STS does not use variables at all. It's probably a problem with the layout. If you can't resolve it, please open a message to SAP Support.

  • Change calling plan

We are on a 1400 minute calling plan and are not using nearly as many minutes as we used to. We want to scale back down to 750 minutes. I have been told repeatedly by Verizon I can do this online, but I cannot find where. Under the Plan area of My Verizon it only asks if I want to change messages, Internet spam and other stuff, not my basic plan. It's like finding a needle in a haystack, maybe by design. Can someone plese point me to exactly where I can do this?

Under "My Verison" , choose "Calling Plans and Services" then "Change Minutes, Text, or Data". Note that if you have an old grandfathered plan (Like I have family shared 450 from years ago that is no longer offered), your plan may not be visible. In this case for any options on that page you should see a warning that you must call support to make the desired changes. DO NOT make changes in this case since doing so may change your minutes.

Also note if you use a substantial amount of Friends & Family minutes, these will disappear if you lower your plan to the 700 minute plan.
For example, on the 1400 minute plan you receive 10 Friends & Family #s. If you call these numbers for a total of 500 minutes/month and all of your other calls total, lets say, 500 minutes/month, then the minutes usage on the 1400 minute plan would only show up as 500 minutes counted against your allowance.
If you were on the 700 minute plan, you would not get the Friends & Family #s and your usage would show up as 1000 minutes, which would be your entire allowance and 300 minutes of overage minutes for an overage fee of $135 for this month.
Before you make this change, be sure that you will not fall into this category, as this could get very expensive.

  • Anytime Call Plan

I recently signed up to The Unlimited Anytime Plan........and was under the impression that Caller Display was Free......however the caller display has never worked, so I called BT and was informed that it should have been activated and apologised but it would be activated within 24 hours.
Later that day I was browsing BT's home page and checked the Anytime Plan and it was as set out below :
    The Unlimited Anytime Plan includes:
Phone security and privacy See who's calling before you answer, keep your number private and stop unwanted sales calls – all for no extra cost when you sign up.
But Under The legal stuff at bottom of page -
    Calling Plans and line rental:
Unlimited Anytime Plan – 3 months free. Offer extended to 30th June for orders placed via BT.com or by special invitation. Available to new Unlimited Anytime Plan residential customers signing up for 12 months. Usual cost of Plan (£4.99 a month) payable from month 4. Discount via bill credit. Line rental payable at £11.54 a month with Direct Debit and paper free billing. Cannot be used in conjunction with any other offer and may be withdrawn at any time. Exclusions and conditions apply.
Call Features at no extra cost. Customers must make at least two chargeable calls with BT per month, otherwise BT reserves the right to charge £2.59 a month for BT Caller Display or £1 per a month for the standard BT Answer 1571 service.
So I rang BT again and the operator confirmed that I would have to make two chargeable calls per month...I asked for it to be deactivated which was confirmed.
The following day lo and behold the Caller Display started working on my phone. I again phoned BT and was told that NO the charges did not apply as set out above but I asked for it to be deactivated, which was confirmed.
Lesson learned - All that glitters is not gold.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

That's not what it says in BT's official price guide. For Privacy at Home, the eligibility criteria are:
"In order to be eligible, Consumer customers must make at least 6 chargeable or inclusive calls per quarter with BT, (excludes calls made with BT Broadband Talk or Chargecard). Should these calls not be made, a charge of £7.77(Inc VAT) per quarter will be applied for the Caller Display service. Business customers are excluded from the BT Privacy At Home package.
Consumer customers who are billed monthly must make at least 2 chargeable or inclusive calls per month with BT otherwise a charge of £2.59(Inc VAT) per month will be applied for the Caller Display service.
The Caller Display element of Privacy At Home is subject to availability."
    http://www.bt.com/pricing/current/Exch_Lines_boo/2-3410_d0e53.htm
In other words you only have to make 2 calls a month, NOT 2 paid calls a month.

  • Will there be new Canada or Mexico calling plans thanks to the Share Data Plan?

I recently signed up for Verizon service (back in March, 2012) and go the 700 minute family plan (2 smart phones with data and one "feature" phone).  One of the reasons I chose Verizon over AT&T was because Verizon had coverage in a portion of Canada that I visit and had a Canada Calling Plan to cover that area.  My goal was to switch to that plan for the month of my trip so that I could make/receive calls while in Canada.  Now, however, because of the new share plans, I would not be able to switch BACK to my preferred family plan (which gives me the upgraded 4GB per smart phone instead of 2GB).  So, I have a great plan now, but if I switch to the Canada plan for 2 measly weeks (or the full month), I can never switch back without having to choose the new share plans (which won't be as good a deal for me).
Hence, I don't plan to switch to the Canada calling plan.  So, is there ANY other kind of add-on service that I can use on my existing family plan that will let me make/receive calls for a reasonable rate in Canada?  For example, Sprint has a $.2.99 add-on that let's you make/receive calls in Canada for $0.09/minute.   Without any kind of add-on, the per-minute rate is $0.69 and I think that's just airtime, it wouldn't include the long-distance cost of calling a Canadian phone# (I can work around that by using Google voice, but still...not as nice).

Thanks for your response. The plans are still there, but I don't want to switch to them because then I can't switch back to my current plan (700 share minutes for 3 phones plus 4GB or data for each phone).  The equivalent service under the new plans would be far more expensive.  So, I'd really prefer to keep my current plan and use some kind of long-distance rate plan while in Canada.  This was one of the main reasons why I chose Verizon over Sprint (the town I'm visiting only has CDMA coverage, no GSM, so T-mobile and AT&T are out).

  • Upgrade Calling Plan and stilll incur overages...Hogwash

    Dear Verizon,
I recently began a new job and after a short stint with a company phone I decided it would be simpler to just upgrade my phone to unlimited and circumvent the need for another bulky phone in my pocket.  I also have began talking to and texting a sweet blonde haired blue eyed gal on another network.  Before I upgraded, I closely monitored my minute usage and text messages to avoid costly overages and to see if unlimited talk and text was really necessary.  As I would approach a limit i would upgrade the phone plan to avoid the extra cost and, as I thought, steered clear from a $300 phone bill.  I changed my calling plan twice, ultimately to Unlimited talk and text as i mentioned earlier.  To my dismay I saw my monthly bill was $300 this month, I calmed myself down and called a soft spoken customer service associate who kindly explained that I was being billed overages due to the PRORATED minutes and texts that incurred as I upgraded from the previous plan.  ...
This is very upsetting and unacceptable.  For those of us who closely monitor our usage employing the on-line services to AVOID overages and then to get duped by the fine print to incur equal overages if i had not upgraded my plan.  I know what some will say "You should have just upgraded earlier" or "Well since you are now unlimited you won't have that problem again".  To that I say, hogwash.  I trusted Verizon's online services and I am paying out the nose for it.
    Thanks but No Thanks Verizon.
If AT&T's service was medicore, I would switch.
    Colton Janes

It's possible you can get the overages covered by asking the CS rep to BACKDATE the plan change to the beginning of the billing cycle; then you will be covered for the whole month.  Pay the unlimited pricing for the entire month, and have no overages.  SInce the bill has already been generated, they may not go for that....but it's worth a shot.
If you were "approaching your limit" when you made the plan switch, then you would be getting overages with prorating....
For example, you were on the 450 minute plan, but one week into the month, you saw had used 400 minutes....so you switched to the 900 minute plan.  One week on the 450 minute plan would net you about 100 minutes allowance for that week - so you'd have an overage of 300 minutes.  The remaining 3 weeks on the 900 plan would give you an allowance of about 600 for the remainder of the month - or less if you switched plans again.  It's tricky, it's going to get you almost every time, and the way to avoid it is to BACKDATE the plan or have the new plan start at the beginning of the next billing cycle.  If you are already over, backdating is the only way.  Saavy reps MAY tell you that, most will not, and just let you find out whenyou get the bill.

  • Area codes and calling plans

Is it possible to get a phone on a calling plan that has a different area code than the "home" area?  I have 3 phones that are all 970 area codes (Colorado), but I need to get another phone for WV (304).  Can I do that on the same plan, or does it have to be on its own?

You can have different area codes and "home" areas on the same plan. When we added a line for my Mom (she's in NY, we are in CA) we had to initially set it up with a local number, then change the number to her area code to get a number that would be "local" for her.
You do not need a separate plan, a long as there are 5 or less phones on your plan. You said this would be the 4th one, so there should be no problems with adding a the line and getting a 304 area code.

  • I have an AT&T locked phone valid contract for another year. I am planning for India visit for 3 months and I want to unlock my phone to use for my purpose. Apple care can help on this? or AT&T Customer care?

I have an AT&T locked phone valid contract for another year. I am planning for India visit for 3 months and I want to unlock my phone to use for my purpose. Apple care can help on this? or AT&T Customer care?

It's not going to happen. Even a cursory reading of the forums would have revealed this fact.
Apple can NOT help you. AT&T WILL NOT help you.
Leave your iPhone at home or in airplane mode while you're in India and buy yourself a cheap disposable phone to use while you're in India. I believe AT&T still has a program where they will put your account "on hold" while you are gone for a small fee.

  • Call Plan Charges....The Call Plan Costed More Tha...

I recently called BT regarding getting a cheaper Broadband and phone tarrif.  The net result was that I got a reduction, but that this reduction ( of around £7 a month ) meant that I no longer had the Evenings and Weekends call plan.
Now this was the first I had any idea that I was actually PAYING to have a call plan. Maybe I'm silly and should have looked this up....but then again, nothing in my phone bills EVER mentioned any specific charge for a call plan, though they do mention a call plan. I have BT's latest tarrifs document and trying to understand the plans in it is like quantum mechanics....especially when it says 'includes line rental' yet the monthly line rental of £16 is more than the call plan !
So I am utterly confused. All the more so as having checked my bills for the last few years I see my average QUARTERLY phone use has been around £3.50....yes...barely anything at all. Yet it would appear I have been paying more than that...what exact figure I cannot work out....one source implies it was £22 a quarter and another implies £12.....for the privilege of making hardly any calls at all under this 'call plan'. In other words....paying at least £12 a quarter to make £3.50 worth of calls.
Am I just confused, silly for not having woken up to this earlier, or ( given that I have been with BT on this line for 19 years with similar usage ) should I never have been sold this 'call plan' in the first place ?

The basic line rental includes free weekend calls. You have been paying extra for free weekday evening calls, so it depends on how many calls you make after 7pm in the evening.
Some of the broadband packages include free evening calls, so that must have been part of your original package.
There are some useful help pages here, for BT Broadband customers only, on my personal website.

  • Maybe dumb, but can you get the iphone without a calling plan?

I am currently on a sprint employee plan because a relative works there. I only pay 20 bucks a month. Regardless of how bad I want an iphone, I can justify switching while only paying 20 bucks a month for unlimited data and 500 peak minute voice calls. I am on the instinct, which i am not a particular fan of due to how basic and elementry it is. The only nice thing about it is that I can connect to the internet on my computer wherever I am by using the phone as a modem. Oh, and i will say that the navigation features are great as well!
On the other hand, the iphone is sick. I love the apps that it has to offer, and due to the fact that i get such a great deal on sprint, I was curious to know if the iphone can be purchased with only a data plan. I dont want the calling plan, just the data so taht i can use all of the apps. Is this possible? I was thinkin about an ipod touch, but i like the apps on the iphone that would require a 3g signal.

It may be possible to cancel the unlimited data plan for the iPhone 3G and if so, you would also need to request that data access be disabled for your line/number or you will be charged by the KB for all data uploaded/downloaded via AT&T's data or internet network, which isn't cheap. You would also lose visual voicemail since visual voicemail messages are downloaded to the iPhone via AT&T's data or internet network only.
The iPhone is designed to always have an internet connection as long as there is an available wi-fi network that you have access to, or you have cellular reception. If you don't use the iPhone as designed and intended, you might as well get a different phone - a phone that isn't in the smart phone category and isn't designed to always have an internet connection or access.
