Re-Sync after a Restore

I know this has to be simple but I can't for the life of me find how to resync my music from iTunes back to my iPhone. Most of my music came from a CD that was then pulled into iTunes after I saved the music files as mp3s. Only had a few ringtones I bought and if I never get those back so be it, but I ought to get all my CD music back, right?

More questions:
When you restored your phone, did you restore as "new", or from a backup?
Is this the same PC you've been syncing with before?
Have you tried just checking what music you want on your phone under the appropriate tabs in itunes and then syncing? Under the info pane when your phone is connected to itunes, do you have a check in the box labeled "Manually Manage Music" or just "Checked songs & videos"? If you have manually manage selected, you can't sync. It's an either or deal.

  • IPod Touch iOS 4.2.1, Mac OS 10.6.8. ICal will not sync after a restore of iPod Touch. What's up?

iPod Touch (iOS 4.2.1) second generation; Mac (OS 10.6.8). After a restore, the iCal no longer syncs, Contacts do not sync, etc. What gives?

    Greetings,
Sounds like something is wrong with the sync history.
    Troubleshooting:
    1.) Backup all your data:
    Backup your iPhone: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1414
    Backup your computer Addressbook: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=AddressBook/4.0/en/ad961.html
    Backup your computer iCal: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2966
    Backup your calendars on MobileMe.
    Follow http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4226
Go to "backing up data" and then "Backing up from me.com/calendar"
2.) Reset the computer's sync services and then restart the computer: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1627
3.) Plug in the iPhone and attempt a sync.
If that does not resolve the issue, where is the information "good", on the iPod Touch or the computer and are you using MobileMe to sync or do you just plug in your usb cable.
    Hope that helps.

  • ITunes sync after iCloud restore

So after retoring from an iCloud backup, I found that I can't sync apps with my computer without deleting all of them from my iPhone? Anyone find a worksround to this?

Thanks! I was hoping there was a way to store page/folder info for apps too, but this is more than fine.
Looks like the backup includes all the user data for each app as well (or it's stored somewhere, anyway), since all the app configs and data seem to be there when I re-download the app. Nice!
Followup question: what is "transfer purchases" for if you can't transfer them back to the device after a restore? I'm not complaining, just asking. What can you do with the transferred purchases?

  • Transport Directory and queue are out of sync after the restore

    Hi all
I got a DEV server. Running ECC6 on MAXDB over linux. One user deleted some tables and we restored the database. No file system is restored.
Now we are having issues with the transports as the tranport directory is the latest and database is having old data about 3 days old data.
I am not able to see the same objects that we released in the old transports before the restore neither I am able to re-import the transport.
Please let me know the best way to make this in sync with the file system transports available.
    Thanks
    Shafquat

Thanks for the response. I think I am not clear in my problem statement.
We restored the whole database. Nothing at the fie system level is restored. So Trans directory is having up to date work done (Released transports etc) but after the restore the information coming through the database is the old information. Like in SE10 the transport that was released earlier still showing released but showing less number of objects than the one we actually released before the restore. Even if we try to re-import the same transport it ends up in the error.
Please let me know how we can make file system and database in sync.
    Thanks again for the response.

  • Will my third party apps sync after a restore?

After I upgraded to IOS7 I lost most of my album art on my iPhone 5. Everthing is their in iTunes on my Mac. The Mac Geniues suggest that I resrtore my iPhone from a new account and not from a back up. So my question is will my third party apps sync  all my information after a restore?

So do and some don't. It's up to the 3rd parties apps developer to implement this feature.
Best is talk to the app developer that are important to you.

  • IPhone won't sync after a restore?

So my iPhone all of a sudden had a capacity over load. I only have 436 songs and 54 apps, no way it's completely full. So I read up on stuff and I backed up everything on my iTunes and then I hit "restore" and it did a restore, and now my phone says either: "set up as new iphone" "restore from icloud" or "restore from itunes back up", and the third is what I want. Well when I hit that it starts trying to sync, and then it stops and says "your iphone cannot sync because there is not enough free space another 2.6gb is required. So now I can't use my phone at all!! And if I restore as a new iphone will I lose everything? Even on my itunes will it be deleted? I don't know what to do and why my phone has "corrupitble files" on it that is taking up space? Everything is up to date on the the phone and itunes. HELP!

  • Syncing after system restore

I recently had to reinstall all my system software and was able to bring back itunes libraries from backup cd's however now my iphone and appletv are no longer recognized by itunes. Is there a way to get my computer to recognize all my peripherals again?

I found the answer...I had multiple authorisations on my itunes store account. It thought I had 2 computers like I suspected. Have deauthorised one. Here is the article makes interesting reading and reminds us to deautorise a computer before selling or system restoring.

  • Ipod nano won't sync podcasts from iTunes after I "Restored" the ipod.

iPod nano won't sync podcasts from iTunes after I "Restored" the iPod.

If you've read the Technical Specification you will find that the nano can only use Firewire for charging, not for syncing:
    http://www.apple.com/ipodnano/specs.html
"Charging via USB or FireWire to computer system or power adapter (sold separately)"
So you can rule that out.

  • IPod won't sync after restore - Please Help!!!

    Hello,
Thanks for taking the time to read my posting.
I have a 3rd Gen 40gb iPod which was running the 2.2 firmware on Windows XP, which has been fine up until recently. The songs started to randomly skip during playback; this went on for a few weeks. So I decided to restore/reformat the iPod using the iPod updater software and this is where the problem started.
I downloaded the most up to date updater from Apple and updated the firmware to version 2.3. However when I came to sync my iPod with iTunes (ver 6) it would start transferring tracks and get about 5 or 6 on there and then it would hang and not transfer anymore and my iPod would just say Do not disconnect. This happened about 3 or 4 times. I decided to restore the firmware on my iPod to 2.2 using an older updater and now iTunes won’t see / sync my iPod at all…
Does anyone have any idea what could be wrong or what I should do to sort the problem?
Thanks in advance for any help.
    Windows PC   Windows XP

I would suggest that you go to firmware version 2.3 again (as opposed to 2.2), as this may be why iTunes isn't recognizing it now.
But, I understand that after you restored your iPod (with the 2.3 version), iTunes would bog up after updating only a few songs.
I think it's probably better to have 2.3 instead of 2.2. Try assigning your iPod a different drive letter when you connect it.
Log off of any other users on your computer.
Then, connect your iPod. When you connect your iPod, press and hold the "Ctrl" and "Shift" keys for about 20-30 seconds. This will prevent automatic-syncing from happening in iTunes.
After you've stopped automatic-update setting, assign your iPod a different drive letter (see below):
1 - Go to "START -> Control Panel -> Admin Tools (if you don't see this, click on "classic view" button on the left panel) -> Computer Management."
2 - Click on the "Disk Management" button in the left panel area.
3 - Right-click on your iPod's listing there (after a few moments when it gets recognized in this drive window), and click on "Change Drive letter and Paths". Then the "Change..." button.
Here's what it should look like:
Assign your iPod the letter "M" "N", "O" or the like (further along in the alphabet).
For more details, see this article:
Windows confuses iPod drive letter / Changing drive letter
If you need any additional help on how to follow these steps, post back with the details of your issue, and I'd be glad to try to help.

  • Unknown error 0xE800002E in regard to syncing applications after a restore

I recently had to restore my 2G iPhone. Since then I have had problems syncing and updating some of my applications. I get the message, "Some of the applications in your iTunes library were not installed on the iPhone (name of iPhone) because one or more errors occurred. The arror is always the same and is referred to as "Unknown error (0xE800002E). None of my searches for this error produce results. The four applications referenced are on my iPhone, contrary to what the message says, but when there are updates the sync process breaks down. I visited the Genius Bar and they managed to clear the logjam of unsynced updates but they could not explain how and I still get the error message every time I sync. There have been no new updates since the logjam was cleared so I do not know if updates are still a problem. The fact that I continue to get the eror message suggests that I still have a problem. Can someone explain to me what error (0xE800002E)is and how I might resolve it?

Thank you. The discussion thread that you recommended was very interesting. It started about the same time that I began having problems of another sort with my iPhone and ended up doing a "restore". The first updates after the "restore" would download but not install. The updates began piling up, etc. as I explained in my initial inquiry. In checking my log, I see that I updated to iTunes v.8 on Sept. 11 and started having problems and did the "restore" on Sept. 13 and visited Genuius Bar an the 14th to resolve some issues from the "restore" (iPhone was jittery, jumping from app to app, stirring up icons, etc.). Following that I started having problems installing updates. I was on vacation from Sept. 17 to 29, began getting the 0xE800002E message approx. Sept. 15 and by the time I returned, I had three updates that would not install--Bloomberg, Units and Ecco Note Lite. Back to the Genuius Bar on Sept. 30, got the three updates installed but continued to receive the error message but no new updates. The error message references only four apps, three of which are the ones that would not install plus Sol Free. So there is somewhat of a disconnect between the sequence of events in my case and those described in the discussion that you referred me to. I am a very senior citizen, and since I had problems following my "restore" the first time around, will delay doing another "restore" until I am having an "I can tackle anything" day. I would ask the Genius Bar to do it but it takes too much time and I don't want to wear out my welcome. It is also a chore to lug my computer to the Apple Store. Thank you for your suggestion. I think I will leave my question up a while longer to see what else turns up and will jump into the new discussion as well. One has to also fault Apple in that I was not able to locate that discussion through the search feature before initiating my own discussion.

  • Iphone 4 will not sync after restore

Iphone 4 will not sync via itunes via USB cable after restore.  Rebooted PC and iphone.  Latest version of itunes and iOS.  Device appears on left hand window, but the main window only shows the Apple logo, and empty white box, and a small LOCK symbol.  Other iphone and ipad still sync properly, but restored iphone will not.  Please help.

I had the EXACT same thing and I have appeared to fix it thanks to Amand99:
    1) Make Sure you are running latest Itunes.
    2) Plug usb cord into computer with itunes on. DO NOT PLUG INTO PHONE.
    3) Do a hard shut down of your phone, where you hold the home and lock button and don't let go until the phone completely dies.
    4) Hold down home button for three seconds. DO NOT LET GO. While continuing to hold, plug chord into phone, connecting it to computer.  DO NOT LET GO. Hold for an additional five seconds.
    5) A window should appear in itunes saying that a phone is connected which needs a system restore.
    6) Itunes should allow you to restore and update.
    7) Now this was key for me because this might have been my mistake which originally caused this issue.  After the restore, Itunes shows the iPhone grey with a spinning wheel (like bofore).  I looked at the iPhone and it looked like it wanted me to go through the setup options. DON'T TOUCH THE PHONE.  Be Patient, iTunes will eventually recognize the phone and finally ask if you want to restore it.  Choose "restore from backup", and let iTunes do it's stuff.
My iPhone is back, Baby!  <phew>

  • IPod won't sync after restore - now iTunes freezes up and iPod is empty

Two days ago my iPod started acting up - playing a song for about the first 10 seconds, then freezing up. I did the 5 R's - many, many resets, switching the USB port, reinstalling the software, and several restore attempts. The new and more pressing issue now is that, after a restore attempt, the iPod syncs to about song #50 (of about 1500) and then iTunes freezes up. Because of the restore, the iPod is now empty...no tunes...and I can't get it to sync. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
I fear this is a glitch with the new update? What is the solution here?

I am having similar problems. My ipod was working perfectly fine in the morning and then at lunch time it said i needed to "connect to computer source and restore" i didnt have a computer at the time so i waited till i got home. when i got home i let it sit on my computer charging before i did anything. i took it off when it was fully charged and went to go listen to it. i listened to one song and in the middle of the second song, the music started to flicker and skip. i just shut off, when i turned it back on again ALL THE CONTENT ON MY IPOD HAD JUST DISSAPEARED. i was so angry and ive been calling around, reading the internet site pages and trying all that i can to fix this **** of a problem but nothing works. HELP ME PLEASE!!

  • After fresh restore phone is unable to sync."Other" space and nothing else.

Before I restored my iPhone 4S I couldn't sync my phone on iTunes. When connected itunes shows the space in my phone was all "other". Nothing new was able to be synced. I have now restored my phone and tried to add the music portion back in. First there was an error about not having enough space even after the restore and it said I had 27GB free. Now there's only a small "other" bit and the rest is 27GB free. Every time I try to sync it or apply a setting it loads it and immediately stops and back to square one.

I had the same problem. I doubt it is the firewall software on your cpu but rather then one on the router itself. On your linksys control panel, go to applications and on the port list enter 3689 to 3689, enter the ip address for your appletv (you can get it from the apple tv or from the DHCP client list under the status tab on the router). Click enable then update. Or, you can simply disable the firewall on the security tab of the router but I would not recommend this. Even after updating, I had to unplug the apple tv to reboot it and then it worked fine.
