Re-synching problem after iTunes purchase

My husband bought some new songs on iTunes & went to re-synch iPod Classic, but iPod screen went dark. He hit "restore" for the iPod (Don't ask!) and now the iPod keeps flashing "Do not disconnect." I have tried restarting the computer, changing USB port, resetting the iPod per the iPod Support instructions (and got the Apple logo & check mark at appropriate times), but the farthest I get is that the iPod screen flashes "Do not disconnect" and never goes past that. All the songs are on our playlist. It seems maybe the computer is no longer recognizing the specific iPod we are trying to synch??? My other iPod is working and synching just fine. Any ideas?

Close iTunes
Delete the iTunes folder and any othe folders that you believe iTunes is creating.
Copy the ENTIRE iTunes folder from the old computer to the new computer.
Hold <SHIFT> while launching iTunes.
When prompted to create new or locate an iTunes library, point iTunes to the iTuneslibrary.xml file in the iTunes folder.
Everything will now be as it was on the old computer.

  • Apple TV loses synched Photos after iTunes restarts

Everytime I restart my iTunes Server ( Mac mini with iTunes program- attached external drive with iTunes content) all my synched photos on Apple TV are gone and I have to synch again. Happened also before Apple TV 3.0. Why?

I have the same problem with my setup (all Mac OS versions, all Apple TV versions) since I purchased it back in March of 2009. Since then I have gone through all the different versions of Mac OS and the Apple TV OS and I am now on the newest version of everything involved (Apple TV, iTunes, MacOS and iPhoto). Nevertheless, this problem persisted the whole time.
I just got off the phone with Apple and they would look into it if I pay for a one-time support event ($49 or something) since my Apple TV is passed the initial 90 day warranty. If somebody is having this same problem and is within the first 90 days after the purchase or has the Apple Care package for the Apple TV you can call AT NO COST and get this fixed. Can anybody do that and help everybody with this problem? If you have support you can call them or ask them to call you right away, it certainly would be a great help to everybody.

  • Anyone have their credit card info being stolen after iTunes purchase?

Well, I tried using my credit card this weekend and it was denied Friday night. I tell my friend that is odd because I just checked my balance and knew I wasn't overdrawn or anything. He knew I had just purchased some music on iTunes that day and the day before and told me he has had problems with his credit cards and he thought it was related to iTunes purchases. I guess I can't prove it, but the only purchase I made with my card Thursday and Friday was on iTunes and the next day I had someone buy $105 worth of pizza at Papa Johns somewhere in Florida (I live in Missouri) and then they tried to charge $1800! I don't mean to accuse iTunes, but I was wondering if this is something that is happening frequently and should be brought to iTunes attention?

I too have had issues with fraud on my credit card on the iTunes App store.
From the day after I registered my credit card on the app store (3 Aug ) till 12 Aug there were 14 fraudulent transactions on my card.
What makes my case slightly different is that I had no fraudulent activity on my actual iTunes account but rather various declined authorisation fees from lastminute. Some successful transactions for EasyJet and some online telephony service safebillinc.com (ironic I know). I live in South Africa – these were all UK based transactions. Then there were 3 transactions from Telkom ADSL – our local telephone service company.
How that happened is beyond me.
Apple’s response to my problem was laughable and unhelpful.
After looking online for about an hour to find a PHONE number to speak to a PERSON – after holding for 10 mins – I got redirected to the website to send an email.
    The response I got was:
“I understand you are concerned about iTunes Store purchases that were made with your credit card on someone else’s account. I can certainly see how disappointing this would be and I’d be happy to provide any information I can to help.
I’m glad to hear that you have cancelled your credit card and disputed the unauthorized transactions. A member of your credit card company’s fraud department will contact the iTunes Store directly to resolve this issue. I am sorry, but I cannot reverse those charges for you.”
Seems like a standard response since they are addressing some other issue other than mine.
I have changed my itunes account to reflect no card – only free apps for me for now.
I have cancelled the card – moaned to my bank but I guess other than waiting for all the charges to be reversed (once the letters of dispute have been assessed) it’s out of my hands now.
I think Apple really need to wake up and take these security issues seriously.

  • Problems after iTunes 9 installation

I have got several problems after the iTunes 9 upgrade:
    - all browser I use (IE8, Firefox, Safari) crash once I try to see any of the tutorials on www.apple.com, IE8 says "An error occured inside a plug-in contained in this page.", Firefox restarts, Safari just crashes
    - once I connect my iPod touch to iTunes 9, it offers me upgrade to 3.1.1 OS, after extracting, it quits with information "The iPod could not be updated. An uknown error occured (3001)".
    - my Apple TV doesn't show up in iTunes 9 (other devices connected to intranet are visible, iPod connects with Apple TV without any problem via the Remote programm)
    Does anyone has similar experience?
    Thank you in advance

The problem where Genius says, "Genius results can't be updated right now. The required file cannot be found." is related to BranchCache.
    Disable BranchCache and try again.
You can find a bit more on BranchCache here:
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd637820%28WS.10%29.aspx
You can disable it from an administrative command prompt with "netsh branchcache set service mode=DISABLED."
    Best of luck

  • Problems playing iTunes purchases from external drive on new computer.

My computer recently died and I had to get a new one. Luckily I had copied all of my iTunes purchases onto an external drive. However, when I connect the external drive to the new computer I can see the purchases but cannot see them in iTunes-I try adding the files in iTunes, but this doesn't work. I have authorised the computer, so it should be able to play the purchases but I have tried dragging them all into iTunes, copying them to the computer but no joy.
    Any help would be appreciated.

In Windows Explorer, right-click on your media folder and click Properties, then go to the Security tab and click Advanced. If necessary grant your account and SYSTEM full control of this folder, subfolders and files, then tick the option to replace permissions on child objects which will repair permissions throughout the library. This is the XP dialog but Windows 7 shouldn't be too different.
If it won't let you change the permissions use the Owner tab to take ownneship from an account with administror privileges.

  • Problems syncing itunes purchases

I have an ipad1 which I sync with my macbook pro.  All software is up to date.
My last two purchases from itunes store (a movie and a TV series) download to the macbook (and can be veiwed as normal) and have synced to my Appl TV without difficulty.
However they will not sync to my ipad, and I get a message telling me they will not sync becasue the computer is not authorised.  But it is.
I have tried restarting, and deauthorising then reauthroising the laptop, but they just won't sync.  I am reluctant to make any more itunes purchases via the laptop as I am not sure whether I will be able to get them onto my ipad.
    Anyone have suggestions?

Try a system reset.  It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until the screen blacks out or you see the Apple logo.  Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears.  You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.

  • Problem with iTunes purchased track.  I purchased an album from the store and downloaded.  I contacted support as one track was defective and had this one track setup to re-download, which was successful.

I purchased an album with 11 tracks from the Store.  When the download was complete, I edited the name to make it easier for me to find. I then synced my iPod and iPad with the new album.  However I found that one of the tracks was defective and after writing to the support community, a second download was setup and this fixed the bad track.  I was surprised that when the track downloaded, it went to the track with the new name.  However it works perfectly on my computer.  For some reason, the iPod and iPad have synced a few times but the track for this album on these is the original track with the defect and this has not fixed, though there have been multiple times that it has synced. The laptop with its corrected track works fine.
The message from support told me to be sure that the software on my laptop was the current version and I did correct this before getting that corrected download.  However I notice that my iPod says that it has the latest version and won't check for an update until 2/24.
Can you help me figure this out.  I thought if I could delete this track off the iPod and iPad that it would sync the correct version, but I can't see how to delete these.
Thanks for any help you can offer.

Assuming you are in a region where you are allowed to redownload your past music purchases, delete the problem tracks from your iTunes library, close and then reopen iTunes, go to the iTunes Store home page, click the Purchased link from the Quick Links section in the right-hand column, then select Music and Not on this computer. You should find download links for your tracks there.
While downloading select Downloads in the left-hand column and make sure Allow Simultaneous Downloads is unticked.
If the problem persists, or that facility is not yet available in your region, contact the iTunes Store support staff through the "Report a problem" links in your account history, or via Contact Support.

  • Why do I have problem importing iTunes purchases to iMovie 6?

I am quite frustrated. Because of all the problems I was having with iMovie 4, I recently upgraded my system to OS Tiger 10.4, my iMovie to version 6 and all other iLife components to version 8 (my processor doesn't support iMovie 8).
Now I have a whole batch of new problems. Every time I try to import a song I purchased through iTunes into a movie, a dialgue box tells me my computer is not "authorized" to play that song and prompts me to authorize my computer. After going through the process of authorization I am told my computer is now authorized, but the same thing happens when I try to import music again. I've tried the authorization proccess many times now with no success, although iTunes tells me I have 2 computers authorized (where did it come up wioth a second computer?).
What is this "authorization" bull crap? I never had this problem with my old OS and iLife 4 components. Rather than getting easier to use, everything seems to be getting more difficult with upgrades.
    At "wits" end,
    Richard Witt

  • Unable to 'report a problem' with iTunes purchase

    Hi all.
I have a Season Pass for Castle, Season 1 in the UK store. They have, as usual, been releasing the episodes for download approx 24 hours after transmission (yes, US readers we're THAT far behind you in being able to get this programme.). However, last week Channel 5 broadcast the final 2 episodes of season 1 back to back on the same night. Only one episode, episode 9, appeared in iTunes.
I thought I would use the 'report a problem' feature to ask if they're actually going to put the last one up to download, or if it's been forgotten. However, clicking the 'report a problem' link in My Account on any episode of Castle just opens the default Apple support webpage in Safari. If I use the link on any other purchase then I get the correct "Problem: Choose One" drop down within iTunes.
So, how can I ask a question of iTunes support about the currently missing episode if I can't use the "report a problem" link?

Doh. Didn't expect it to be that simple. I don't know why but I had it my head that they don't deal with iTunes store queries except via the in app reporting method.

  • Vista video playback problems after iTunes upgrade

Itunes worked perfectly with my Vista OS prior to the recent upgrade. Since installing the upgrade, videos will not play (I just get a blank screen) and I am bombarded with messages about "authorizing this computer" every time I try to view one. I authorize the computer using the Itunes "store" link, and then get another request to authorize the computer with every replay request. After "authorizing" again and again, I still get a blank screen. The scroller indicates the video is playing, but there is no picture. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling Itunes, including the Vista "repair" option, but still have the same problem. I followed all the instructions--including using the "show artwork" option in the "View" link---nothing helps. Is it possible to uninstall the "upgrade" and reinstall the prior version of Itunes, which worked just fine????

ADDENDUM: The exact same problems (repeated requests to authorize computer, blank playback screen) occur when I try to preview any video, so the issue is not related to any specific video purchase. The preview "plays", but there is no video picture.

  • Report a problem with iTunes purchase

I need to report a problem to Apple on a recent App purchase. After logging in to my account in iTunes, following the links to the purchase I want, the 'Report a Problem' link opens the iTunes Support link in my browser, where I see no place to get to the problem purchase and file a report. The links used to work in iTunes, as I have successfully reported a purchase problem in the past.
    Hope you can help!

  • Problems after itunes upgrade.

I recently upgraded itunes to the current version on two of my windows/xp pc's.
On the first one I didn't have any problems.
On the second one, after the pc rebooted, all of the personal settings for the administrator account that was used to do the upgrade were gone, and the itunes library for the account was gone.
After some looking around on the pc, I found that the path for My Documents for the account had been changed from C:\Documents and Settings\account_name\My Documents to C:\Document and Settings\TEST\My Documents.
Everything under the original path for the account is still there, so all I need to do is get the My Documents path pointed back to where it originally was, but when I try to do this, I get a message saying that the path I am trying to point to is not authorized.
Does anyone know why the itunes upgrade would have changed the My Documents path? And does anyone know how I can change it back to where it should be pointing to?

    Good news
I had no problems updating my ipod and iphone to iOS4. But all I wanted was the folder option, I knew that my 3G does not support multitasking due to the slower CPU and build in memory.
Here's a little help to decide about your update, in case you haven't see this yet.
    Enjoy your ipod.
    Compatibility
The iOS 4 Software Update works with the second- and third-generation iPod touch. Not all features are compatible with all devices.
Not all features are compatible with all devices. For example, multitasking, custom wallpaper, and Bluetooth keyboard support are available only with iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, and the third-generation iPod touch (32GB and 64GB models from late 2009).
Multitasking is available with apps that have been developed to work with iOS 4.
Books are available on the iBookstore. Title availability is subject to change.
Faces works only with iPhoto on the Mac.

  • Synch problems after upgrade from Office 2010 Beta

I updated from the beta version of Office 2010 to the pro version. Now I can not synch my calendar. I get the message "no supported calendar application can be found" on the info page of my device in Itunes (seems it can not find Outlook 2010), even though it did find my contacts in Outlook and continues to synch those without a problem. it appears others have had some version of this problem. I followed the steps outlined to delete all the itunes and related programs in a specific order and then reinstall, no joy. any body have a clue what I should chase next?

    Hi Daniel,
What OAT tool are you using? Is it the Office Customization Tool?
Where did you get the "Do not create new ost file during Migration" option in the tool? As far as I know, OST file cannot be migrated. If you were able to use the old OST file, Outlook will prompt that it
    doesn't match the server mailbox.
The ForceOSTPath applies only to new profile, it can't be used to force Outlook to use the old OST file.

  • Problems with iTunes purchase/support

I purchased the Matrix trillogy last night, and did not have time to download all of the content before I went to bed. I woke up this morning I tried to download the content, but iTunes is saying that I only purchased the first Matrix. I tried to contact support and was successful the first time. After that first contact (no response yet), I decided to try to puchase the trillogy anyway (it is cheaper that buying the remianing two movies), and iTunes will not allow me to purchase the trillogy now.
If I try to contact support now, I get a popup dialog that takes control of the window and does not respond to user input(close, no and yes buttons do not respond). The only way to do anything in the browser after that point is to back up or close the window.
    Any advice?
    Harlow

    Hi,
Check to make sure you do not have In App Purchase restrictions set up: General>Restrictions. If Restrictions are on on your device, make sure the In App Purchases is ON.
If Restrictions are not turned on, contact iTunes Support:

  • Smart Playlist problems after iTunes upgrade 10.6.1.7

Hi, I updated my version of iTunes to 10.6.1.7 and since then my smart playlists are not syncing to my iPhone properly. The selection of songs is scrambled, and so I have a variety of my top rated, audiobooks and other random songs. I have tried removing and resyncing the smart playlists to my iphone, but this has the same outcome. Also, the sync doesn't complete all stages so I end up with roughly half of my music from my smart playlist on my iPhone.
Not sure if this is an iTunes problem or iPhone problem, but it definitely only started after I upgraded iTunes.
Any others out there with the same issue or any suggestions?

Yepper.. got the same issue.. it is not sync'ing my Itunes play lists to my I pod touch.
