Re-syncing a computer after a crash

I had synced my new computer with my old computer and had no problems. My new computer crashed and I had to clear my H on the new machine. When I tried to re-sync the new computer again, it will not work.
when I set up the sync on the new machine, it generates the sync code, I go to sync on the old machine and put in the sync code, it just goes back to the set up sync, pair devices screen and nothing is synced.
I tried to look up my recovery key, but when I go to the sync tab, I don't have a Manage Account tab to click on
I just can't get the new machine to re-sync

Both devices need to be online at the same time if you want to pair a device with the (3x4) 12-character code.<br />
Sync needs to be set up and working on at least one (desktop) computer, so you can enter the 12-character code that is provided by the device (computer) that you want to pair on the computer that has a working Sync setup.
Enter all details like the account name (email address) and password and the 26-character Sync key manually to connect to an existing sync account instead of using the 12-character code to pair a device if pairing isn't possible.
# open "Tools > Options > Sync" or "Firefox > Set Up Sync"
# click "Set Up Firefox Sync" to go to "Firefox Sync Setup"
# click "I Have an Account" : Connect
# click "I don't have the device with me" at the bottom to enter the account settings (email, password, sync key)

I cannot sync with my computer after installing IOS 8 on iPhone 5s. In iTunes I get a dialogue box that says that the computer is not authorized (it is) I deauthorize and then authorize and it comes up again that the compeer cannot synch because it is not authorized. ???

If it's not an authorized Apple charging cord, it may no longer work. When I updated the iOS on my iPhone 5, it did the same thing; iOS 8 is just better at recognizing non-Apple cords. There are a couple that are still recognized, but most no longer work. I'd already seen it happen when I upgraded to an iPad Air -- it will definitely only accept authorized Apple cables -- so I knew what was happening.

Restart computer after EVERY crash????

I heard or read somewhere that its BEST to restart the pc after a crash or the problem may just lurk there....this helps most of the time but again is Very frustrating......Here's another question it was said to look at nVidia - I have the GeForce 7500LE - are they any known problems with this one? It's been 2 months of work on and off to get a 25 minute, 100 photo slide show put together with transitions,music and titles.....on a bad day (lots of crashes) I leave the project alone for a day or so (to rest) but I had envisioned loading the pictures with automatic cross dissolve and tweaking a few transitions and adding titles and music and expecting it to take but a day or so....would a dedicated pc striped to the bones and even without internet acess do the trick....I'm grabbing at straws. Remember I'm a novice about pcs so just finding the specs can take me awhile......I thought the PrElements was for someone like me.

For crashes, take a look at this ARTICLE. It might help you gather "clues" as to what is happening, and maybe even point out the problem.
This ARTICLE will give you some tips on getting a computer ready for an editing session.
Last, let's talk about your still images. What size are they? For a DVD Project, the rec. is for no larger than 1000x750 pixels. This ARTICLE will give you tips on resizing, if necessary.

HT1660 How can I get my library from my i pod back to the computer after a crash?

I lost my library after a computer crash. I'd like to transfer everything back from my I Pod if possible. I reinstalled I tunes and the screen looks totally different There is no 'file' to work from and the disc does not get picked up from the drive.

Have you failed to maintain a backup copy of your computer? not good.
You can transfer itunes purchases: File>Devices>Transfer Purchases.
You can purchase programs to get the other music.
The ipod is not a storage/backup device.

I pulled the bookmarks html file off of my computer after it crashed, and am trying to get my old bookmarks into firefox. How does one do that?

When my computer crashed, we managed to recover a bunch of the files and information from it. One of the files we pulled was the bookmarks.html from the firefox folder. The computer was running on Vista when it crashed, and I now have it running 7 Professional. The file is recorded as a Chrome html file on the new computer, and when I click on it, it pulls up a basic html page within Chrome or firefox that has links to the firefox website (kind of like a webpage version of the bookmarks folder from the toolbar, but without any of the bookmark adding capabilities). I'd like to get my old bookmarks loaded into firefox. Help?

Firefox hasn't used the '''bookmarks.html''' file for storing bookmarks since the Firefox 2 versions, in 2008. Later versions use '''places.sqlite''' for bookmarks and history. What you have is the default file that Firefox uses on new installations and new Profiles, which has like 6 bookmarks.

Alright so this is what happened, the last time my computer crashed my dad had to restart it because the virus was so bad, he even reinstalled windows and all for me, except when I went to find my Photoshop elements that was included with my deal on my mini hp tord boontjie, I couldnt find it. I must have thrown it out when I moved without realizing it, and I was wondering if its possible to get a reinstall of this product because im not willing to pay that much for photoshop elements. If anyone could help me on this issue, i would be very glad. Thanks in advance.

It didnt come on the computer, it was in a seperate box inside the same box, so you had to upload it on there with a memory card, im asking about the photoshop elements, if its possible to recover that, because the only reason I bought the laptop was for the photoshop included in the deal..

Reauthorizing my computer after windows crashed

Hi,
My Windows crashed 2 days ago and I had to format my C drive and reinstall everything again. Now with the new installation, iTunes is telling me that I have "one more computer" authorized beside the one I am using now.
Is there a way to remove my old computer from the authorized computers list? And is it possible to view that list at all?

This isn't a concern until you reach 5 authorized computers.

Getting music back onto my computer after it crashed. Using same computer.

My current computer caught a virus of some sort. It erased almost the entire memory. Needless to say, my Itunes library was erased. I still have all of my music on my ipod. I am simply trying to put that music back onto the same computer. I have downloaded Itunes 10 and I thought I was ready to simply sync and the music would appear on my computer. That isn't the case. I need help putting the music back into my Itunes on my rebuilt computer. Any suggestions?

I'm going to assume that you never backed up any of the music on your iTunes library to an external source and that you weren't running any current antivirus software.
Might I suggest you purchase a Mac Mini with an external hard drive? Then you could use Time Machine to back up and wouldn't need the antivirus software.
But in the meantime, also assuming the music on the iPod was not purchased from the iTunes Store, download and install YamiPod from here: http://www.yamipod.com/main/modules/home/ then follow the instructions.

In the meantime, get yourself the appropriate 3rd party software (TouchCopy, for example) to work around the iPhone's enforced one-way (computer to iPhone) sync. But remember - the iPhone is not a backup device!

If all your apps and music are in your iTunes library, try to make a backup of the iPod. Right click on the iPod under Devices in iTunes and select Backup. Once you have a backup, restore the iPod from thatbackup. If you can't make a backup (or get a backup from the computer backup) you must restore the iPod to factory defaults/new iPod and sync as necessary.

ICal on Leopard fine - but now synced 10.4.10 iCal crashes after startup.

Just installed Leopard at home. iCal works fine. But on my Work computer running 10.4.10 my synced iCal now crashes shortly after starting it up.
I eventually tried deleting everything related to iCal and Sync in my Library and restarted. Re-synced .mac and still iCal crashes shortly after starting. Also, now .mac is giving me errors when syncing.

Same problem here, I can see all my OD users but I can't add shared contacts.

Transferring photos back to my computer after a hard drive crash

my macbook harddrive crashed and there were some photos on my iphone that werent backed up. i tried to import them onto the new hard drive but it wouldnt allow me to import some of them. i went to iphoto and said "import all" but it told me not all the photos could be synced and now when i tried again they just didnt show up at all in iphoto but theyre still on my phone. im hoping that i dont have to resort to emailing every picture to myself and acessing them that way from my computer but i dont know what else to do! can anyone help me??

Or did this crash require the hard drive being reformatted prior to performing an erase and install or a re-install or OS X and all apps?
Either way, your prospects are good.
When a hard drive has not been reformatted, it is usually possible to recover data that was deleted from the hard drive as long as the area on the hard drive where this data had been stored has not been overwritten since the data was deleted.
Stop using the computer or computer's hard drive followed by using a data recovery utility on the hard drive ASAP are important - the sooner the better.
If your hard drive was reformatted after the crash, your chances for recovering this data are greatly reduced if not impossible.
Backup, backup, backup - always maintain a regular backup of all your important data stored on an external drive used for backup purposes only.

Hot Sync and Computer Crash

Since I have spent hours with Palm technical support and the problem is not yet resolved, I thought I would turn to the broader Palm community.
I recently upgraded from the Palm V / Palm OS 3.0 to the Treo 680. In that process, I had to upgrade the Palm OS from 3.0 to 4.1.4 to 6.2.2. When I did it on Saturday, everything worked and sync'd. Yesterday, when I tried to sync, the computer went the to dreaded "blue screen" crash. After talking with technical support, I uninstalled / reinstalled the system and it still happened.
My third technical support visit said I need to do the clean uninstall. I did as it instructed / reinstalled and still got the blue screen. One note here, I think I got all of the pieces removed during the REGEDIT session but when I re-installed, it still came up with an existing user and datafiles.
What now?
