Re TB not defaulting to default printer: I removed the old printer and TB now defaults to HP 4500 as it is set for!
This is on my W7 laptop; TB 24.3; my WXP laptop does not have the default problem even though I have some old printers installed; it also has TB 24.3.
What is asking you for an admin name and password? What does the dialog say, exactly?
What model iMac are you using, and which OS version?
If it is earlier than Lion or Snow Leopard, try deleting the printer and adding it again as explained in this document

you could see if that make of printer has an uninstaller (may come with the installer)
or go to preferences, print and fax, and press the minus key ( - ) which should maybe remove it. Or ,do a a find, then type in the make of printer, and anything that looks like a printer driver for that make, well, maybe it's gotta go

I am having problems getting Firfox to open. I have unistalled the 14. version and then installed the 15. version hoping that it would fix the problem. It didn't. I have even tried restarting the computer, which also did not solve the problem. I know it is not the computer, because all other applications open properly, except this one. My computer crashed. When I reinstalled the ITunes on my computer a new version came up and I lost all 3500 songs? Ooooch. I started downloading music from Amazon and have created a new list. I really would like to be able to down load the new music without losing the old music. It will not let me sync otherwise. Please help.
Your music is stored in the iTunes folder (under pictures on a Mac or My Photos on a PC).
If you have downloaded new music, you can always copy your iTunes folder to another place (called iTunes backup or something), then restore your old iTunes folder from your backup. The old music is gone if you don't have a backup. You have to reload it from CD or download it again (hopefully they won't charge you twice).
Once the old music is restored, make sure the newly downloaded songs are still there. If not, copy it from the iTunes backup folder into iTunes. -

Until last week, my printer and Macbook worked fine together - could print any doc or pdf, web page from my computer. Then it stopped - my printer will still make copies but will not print anything I send from my Mac. I have checked network connections, the printer WiFi connection works. Make sure you’re on the same network

Add your printer again
Try to add your printer again in Print & Scan preferences. If you can print to the newly added printer queue, delete the old printer queue.
If you can’t add the printer because it doesn’t appear in the list of available printers, it may be turned off, or your computer may be on another network now. if the printer was shared by another user, the user may have stopped sharing it, or the user’s computer may be offline. If you don’t manage the printer, ask the person who does for help.

I bought a new touch and tried to plug it into my pc. itunes said I need the 10.5 version with new ipod. I downloaded the latest version and when I try to install it to my pc it gives me the message that it can not remove the old version and contact tech support. Please help.
A window pops up when I try to install that says the old version of itunes can not be removed contact tech support. Then another window pops up that says the feature you ar trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable.

Download the Windows Installer CleanUp utility from the following page (use one of the links under the thingy on the Major Geeks page):

To install the utility, doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file you downloaded.
Now run the utility ("Start > All Programs > Windows Install Clean Up"). In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select anyiTunesentries and click "Remove", as per the following screenshot:
Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try another iTunes install. Does it go through properly this time? -
Using Windows XP and Firefox 3.6.15 web pages print with some of the script as unintelligible weird looking script or maybe some kind of computer script. This problem also occurs with the web page on which this question is submitted. This doe not occur using IE 8.0 with the same printer.

My advice is to uninstall that extension. IMO, you have too many extensions installed, and are asking for problems with Firefox. I used to print all my BioBench data by first exporting them to Excel and then print from there. Recently I need to print some of the screen shots and some data directly from array analysis, but when I click on the "print" buttons, the "Error, the printer is not set up correctly" message occurs. This problem is a result of a limitation in Windows 9x regarding the size of an image that you can send to the printer. The problem does not occur on Windows 2000/NT. I have been using Adobe Photoshop Elements 11 for along time now. When I first used the program I had a different printer than I have now. Although I changed printers I never removed the software from my old one. Now this was never a problem until today. When I choose a printer I still had option to use the old one but always chose my new HP Envy 5530 and Adobe never had a problem printing from that new printer. However today I decided to remove my old printer from my computer and now my Adobe cannot find my new printer. How can I make it find the HP printer?

You likely need to change the default application(s) assigned for opening files to point to the new ones. HOw you do that depends on which operating system you have. If you search Google you should be able to find out how to change the default programs for different files.

How do i remove my old printer icon/software?
i recently bought a new printer and installed in on my mac, and am no longer using the old HP as the wireless radio doesnt work. the HP icon is still on my dock, and i want to remove the software and the icon. new printer is installed, but the icon isn't on the dock, and i have to search for it when i want to scan something. also, i want to put my cisco router icon on the dock as well. i am a longtime PC user who switched to this mac in march last year. still learning the ropes!

On your Dock, drag the Old Printer icon away from the dock. (A puff of smoke should show - this means you have removed it from the Dock)
Navigate to [System Preferences > Print & Scan].
(On the left of the Print & Scan window will be a white colored column, titled 'Printers', with a '+' and a '-' symbol at the bottom.) Click on the Old HP Printer, that is located in this column, and click the '-' symbol that is at the bottom of the white colored column titled 'Printers'.
Select 'Delete Printer' when the dialogue box shows.
Adding Printer Icon to Dock:
Navigate to [System Preferences > Print & Scan].
Drag the New Printer Icon (In the White Column titled 'Printers') and place it on your Dock.
Please note: You cannot add the Printer Icon next to the Icons near the Trash Can.
Keep moving the Printer Icon along the Dock until a gap opens for you to place the Printer Icon.
Adding the Router Icon to Dock:
As far as I am aware, this is not possible. Wi-Fi settings are located on the Title Bar at the top right hand corner, of every window.
There is no need to have the Router on the Dock.
