Re: TDR with onboard Intel HD 4600

Should i consider switching my ram to a 1600mhz ram based ones?
If not, what settings should i use to have my ram set to 1600mhz so my system is stable.

  • Intel hd 4600 crashes while playing games

I have an HP ENVY 700 series PC with an Intel i5 processor and an Intel HD 4600 onboard graphics processor running Windows 8.1 64 bit.  When playing high graphics games the computer will restart itself.  This happens with all full screen games, (Diablo III, Starcraft II, Sim City, etc).  I have tried all of the suggestions given on other forums.  None work.  I have the game graphics set to the lowest settings and the resolution in the game set to the same resolution the computer uses.
Does anyone have any REAL solution to this problem.

    Fred, welcome to the forum.
The best solution is a discrete video card.  Integrated video simply is not designed for gaming.  This will no doubt require a power supply unit (PSU) upgrade, as well.
If you would like more help, you should provide the full model of the computer.

  • 16:10 with a Intel 900GMA

    Hi !
I have a desktop with an onboard Intel 900GMA graphic card and a 16:10 LCD Flat Panel.  I want to have a 1280:800 resolution (or anything 16:10 would do actually), but when I set it and run X, I got a different resolution and most of all, I have to drag my mouse to the screen border to see an hidden part of the screen (like if I was zoomed in).
Here a part of my xorg.conf:
    Section "Monitor"
    HorizSync 64.6
    VertRefresh 59.9
    Option "DPMS"
    DisplaySize 433.4 270.9
    EndSection
    Section "Device"
    Driver "i810"
    Option "Accel" "true"
    Option "DRI" "true"
    EndSection
    Section "Screen"
    DefaultDepth 16
    SubSection "Display"
    ViewPort 0 0
    Depth 16
    Modes "1280x800"
    EndSubSection
    EndSection
    Section "DRI"
    Mode 0666
    EndSection
I used the official spec of my monitor for the refresh rate and the screen size.
Thanks a lot for your help !
PS: Forgot to mention that I use arch64 ... but suppose that it's the same as archLinux.  I have an archLinux install on my laptop, and I get everything right and the same screen, but with an nVidia driver ... so the problem really seem to be from the i810 driver.

to the kernel at boot time should put your framebuffer at 1280x800x8 bit. I've tried it with 1680x1050 but it doesn't work even though it should. I don't even get a warning or error or anything.
If you use a different framebuffer driver than vesafb, you probably need a different boot argument.
1280x800 may possible not a mode in the vbe, nor does it look to me that this resolution is vesa compliant.

  • T540p (20BE) Intel HD 4600 Lenovo Version drivers will not install. (Fix provided)

    Hi all.
I figured I would post this issue. I recently did (another) re-install of my Windows 7 Professional OS from a Windows OEM DVD. I noticed that when I attempted to install the Intel HD 4600 Video Graphics drivers from the Lenovo site, I got an error saying "This computer does not meet the minimum requirements for installing the software." I have the dual-video graphics system (Intel HD 4600 & NVIDIA GeForce 730M) T540p Lenovo package. In order to install the NVIDIA mobile chipset drivers, you must first install the Intel drivers which fails to run.
Resolution:  Download and install the Intel HD 4600 drivers from Intel's website, install, and reboot. Once installed the NVIDIA drivers can then be installed.
Hope this saves people some headaches in the future.
    Thanks.

Ok, Gyz... since Lenovo driver team has hands grown from the arses.... they manage to forget adding proper HW id to the inf file provided in the recent drivers.
My sys has id : PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_0416&SUBSYS_221117AA&REV_06
    Thats what I did:
    1) Downloaded recent drivers from lenovo (sfx exe).
    2) Ran it and got error "your system is not ... something"
    3) At this point it made folder with intel crap on c:\drivers\video\
    4) I edited c:\drivers\video\graphics\ki103976.inf by adding tis line:
    %iHSWGT2UT% = iHSWM_w7, PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_0416&SUBSYS_221117AA
Just find simular hw id string under "; HSW Classic" and add.
Then I ran setup exectutable and have my updates. This works for win7 x64. If u need fix for win8, go your windows/inf directory and find oem92.inf, then you can find your hw id string and add it in same manner to the proper section of the inf.

  • Intel HD 4600 - Switchable Graphics not Switching

    HP,
My laptop is currently up to date with your software (9.18.10.3324) for Intel HD 4600, however - not up to date with Intel's Iris drivers (15.33.22.64.3621) - what gives?
My current issue is attempting to load DayZ using the ATI (in Switchable Graphcis Settings) High Performance Settings, which i've set everything to default to "High performance" but it defaults to software settings (Intel HD 4600) instead of the builtin AMD Radeon HD 8600/8700M. I've attempted to disable hybrid graphics in BIOS, which takes away the option for the AMD chip once i return back to windows so that was a dead end. I've attempted to add the applciation as "high performance", which did nothing. I've attempted to update my outdated drivers to Intel's release but they don't "match my system"
How can I disable the Intel HD 4600 so the only video card running on this laptop is the Dedicated Graphics Card?

  • DISPLAY DRIVER PROBLEM INTEL HD 4600 GRAPHIC WILL RESTART

whenever i am going to use any software on my laptop such as skype, media players any app which using intel hd 4600 i am getting pop up massage about graphic card driver crash. it started from the time when i have installed windows 10. please support me regarding this issue.

    Hello MoeC,
I understand you are having issues with your graphics driver crashing since you upgrade to Windows 8.1. I have found another driver for your computer on Windows 8.1 that I would like you to try. This is Intel High-Definition (HD) Graphics Driver and according to the specifications for this driver is supports only the Intel HD Graphics 4600 running Windows 8.1 64-bit.
Uninstall the driver you currently have installed and download and install the one I am recommending.
I believe this should resolve your graphics issue. Thank you for posting on the HP Forums. Have a great day!

I have a Lenovo V460 with the following specs:
    Intel Core i5 - M450 (http://ark.intel.com/Product.aspx?id=49022)
    4 Gb Mem
    +- 300Gb HDD

The graphics card driver is the latest @ version 8.15.10.2008 (from Lenovo site).
So, my issue is the graphics performance:
When I right-click My Computer -> Properties -> System -> Rating = 2.2 (For 3D Business and gaming graphics performance)...
I can`t even play Age of Empires III on this machince.
Is there a way to update the graphics drivers or something? According to the Intel site the performance should be a lot better...
    Any input would be appreciated!

    please help me

Some of the CMOS nonvolatile memory chips are really difficult to clear.  Try doing a clear CMOS as follows:
    1. Pull the power cord or turn of the rear power switch if you have one.
    2. Pull out the CMOS battery (it looks like a coin)
    3. Push the front power switch several times to clear the power caps
    4. Push the clear CMOS button a few times with something like a bent paper clip.  Make sure you feel it click and hold it in a few seconds.
    5. Replace the CMOS battery - make sure the side with the "+" is facing up
    6. Turn on the rear power switch or plug in the power cord.
    7. Hit the front power switch.
If this doesn't work, you will at least know it's not a clear CMOS problem.  It's actually surprising how many people have to pull the battery before the CMOS will clear.

  • [SOLVED]Intel HD 4600 HDMI - Monitor won't standby

    Hi,
I bought a new desktop with the intel i5 4440S - intel hd 4600 and I have a problem with the monitor standby.
When the monitor go to standby, the monitor's led is orange for only 2 seconds then it goes blue and try to catch the hdmi signal and again like a loop.
Normally when the monitor is standby the led is always orange until I move the mouse to wake up from the standby.
The monitor is a Iiyama prolite x2382hs connected via HDMI.
I am using the latest kernel 3.13rc6 from AUR but the same thing happens with 3.12.

Ok, after a long research it seems that this behaviour is normal for HDMI (first time I use HDMI).
I also tried with the DVI cable and it works fine, confirming that is an HDMI "issue".
    Problem solved.

  • P55-GD65 BSOD With onboard audio enabled

    Hello all,
I bought a new computer with a P55-GD65 motherboard 2 weeks ago and Im getting a random blue screen when the onboard audio is enabled in the BIOS.
Im using the latest BIOS version mainboard drivers. Im running a legal version of Windows 7 home premium and installed all updates.
The blue screen appears in all situations, browsing the internet, playing a game, even when the machine is just turned on and im not working on it.
Here parts of the latest dump files:
    1. string:SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION
    bug check code: 0x0000003b
    caused by driver: win32k.sys
    2. string: KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED
    bug check code: 0x0000001e
    caused by driver: ntoskrnl.exe
II did search a lot for this errors and found no relationship with onboard audio, the weird thing is the BSOD are only happening when onboard audio is enabled on my system.
Any idea how to fix this, it would be great because the onboard audiocard is working alright with games and teamspeak. I have tried a X-FI Titanium card of Creative that was not working.
    Hope someione can help.
    Kind regards,
    Lex

Sorry, here is a full list of my hardware and software configuration.

Installed all latest x64 MSI drivers for the motherboard.
I am not overclocking the system, the BIOS has default values with onboard audio disabled at the moment.
    Now once again the problem:
If I enable the onboard audio controller the systems crashed with a blue screen. Somethimes it takes an hour, somethimes it crashed within 2 minutes after booting.
It doesnt matter what Im doing, even when I just startup the machine and aint using it because Im making some cofee its stuck at a blue screen when I come back.
If I disable the onboard audio controller It does not crash, I can leave the system on all day without a problem.
    Hope someone can help.

  • Can't install windows XP to a macbook pro with an Intel X25-M SSD

    It's a strange problem:
We just bought some new unibody macbook pro 2.8Ghz machines, (4GB ram)etc. We also obtained some of the new Solid State Drives (SSDs) from Intel, the X25M-80GB.
    (part number: SSDSA2MH080G1C5)
After installing the SSD into the macbook pro, everything works.....in OSX. Installation of 10.5.5 went without problem, all updates/firmware applied, everything works fine.
The problems start when you try to install XP. We used the boot camp assistant, and created a 32GB partition, put in a XPSP2 disk, and start the installation.
Everything starts up nicely and goes to the blue/white text based installer for XP. It loads drivers, and then reaches the point where it would ask you to select a disk to install to (where you would normally see the three partitions, 1 being the FAT32 you select as C:).
However, what you get instead is an error message that: +"Setup did not find any hard disk drives installed in your computer...."+ and then you have to exit.
If you use the original 320GB drive, everything works as expected, (nothing wrong with the laptop hardware, or the installation CD). If you stay in OSX, everything works as expected. (nothing wrong with the Intel SSD either)
To further add information, we also installed the Intel SSD into a Mac Pro (2008) as a second drive, booting to a windows installation (through boot camp) on the first disk. Windows boots fine, but there is no sign of the other drive AT ALL. (not a driver issue here - there simply isn't any hardware here as far as windows is concerned.)
That brought us to our conclusion that there is something awry in the BIOS/EFI
being presented to Windows, that doesn't support the Intel X25M drive at all.
However, there is no user customisation (or even access) to the settings or what's happening at that point in the boot cycle, so I'm unable to diagnose further.
Given the Intel SSDs are using their SOC (system on a chip), (I believe - but I could be wrong on that one) perhaps that just isn't supported by the EFI?
Would appreciate some advice on where to go from here? These SSDs cost about 1400AUD+ each, so we'd rather like to actually use them....
I suspect we're asking/requiring for an EFI update.
(to head off some questions: Yes, we've used different discs, and also different computers...The disk and hardware themselves are just fine. Also, the drive WAS formatted with a GPT paritition.)
    Thanks!

From reading Vista forums support for SSD is one of the things Vista SP2 and Windows 7 hope (need) to improve upon. I was in a similar discussion once befoe on SSDs:

    http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&rls=com.microsoft%3Aen-US&q=IntelSSDVista
I don't think it is EFI issue, but with XP and drivers, lack, and wonder if you can try with Vista?
    http://arstechnica.com/news.ars/post/20080908-intel-tosses-hat-into-ssd-ring-wit h-80gb-launch.html
That won't solve performance issues, but should work.

"My guess is that [Samsung and Microsoft] are maybe working on the OS recognizing an SSD with a 4K-byte sector size instead of a hard disk drive with a 512-byte sector size," Wong said.
Sun is already working with Samsung to bulk up SSD support on the ZFS (Zettabyte File System), which is included in the Solaris OS, and will also be supported in Apple's upcoming Mac OS X 10.6, codenamed Snow Leopard. Sun is adding capabilities to boost the durability and performance of SSDs on ZFS-based operating systems. For example, Sun may add defragmentation capabilities for SSDs, which organizes data in a particular order to enable quicker data access.
SSDs were not considered ideal for defragmentation because of limited read-and-write capabilities, Wong said. However, Samsung and Sun in July jointly announced an 8G-byte SSD that bumped up durability from 100,000 read-and-write cycles to 500,000. That brings defragmentation in SSDs closer to reality, which could improve its caching and provide quicker access to data. Sun plans to put SSDs into storage products later this year.

  • Problem with i915 Intel driver panic..

    Hello,
I just recently reinstalled Arch on my laptop.  I have a problem with my laptop. When I went to install the Nvidia Optimus stuff and configure my Xorg.conf I was met with problems with the Intel Driver timing out.  When I boot up I get the normal post screen, then grub, I then go to see the GDM login and instead of getting it I just get a black screen.  When I remove the /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/10-monitor.conf I can boot into Gnome Shell, else I have to switch run levels and login that way.  I have every package up-to-date.  And I haven't seen an /var/log/Xorg.0.log either else I would have posted it.  One other thing is I have added my user account to the Bumblebee account.  One other thing is when I move my web browser around my video flickers..  Any help I can receive with this would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi
I assume you have installed the graphic card driver from the Intel website and you use NOT a Toshiba graphic driver which was designed especially for the notebook usage.
Well, Toshiba recommend using the Toshiba drivers. In this case you should try to use the recommended graphic driver which you can download from the Toshiba driver page.

  • HT201364 I'm currently running OS-10.6.8 on my IMAC with an Intel Core 2 duo and would like to update to at lease 10.7

I'm currently running OS-10.6.8 on my IMAC with an Intel Core 2 duo and would like to update to at lease 10.7. Can this be done and if so how?

Only if you cannot upgrade to Mavericks.
Upgrading from Snow Leopard to Lion or Mavericks
To upgrade to Mavericks you must have Snow Leopard 10.6.8, Lion, or Mountain Lion installed. Purchase and download Mavericks (Free) from the App Store. Sign in using your Apple ID. The file is quite large, over 5 GBs, so allow some time to download. It would be preferable to use Ethernet because it is nearly four times faster than wireless.
         OS X Mavericks- System Requirements
Macs that can be upgraded to OS X Mavericks
             1. iMac (Mid 2007 or newer) — Model Identifier 7,1 or later
             2. MacBook (Late 2008 Aluminum, or Early 2009 or newer) —
                 Model Identifier 5,1 or later
             3. MacBook Pro (Mid/Late 2007 or newer) — Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             4. MacBook Air (Late 2008 or newer) — Model Identifier 2,1 or later
             5. Mac mini (Early 2009 or newer) — Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             6. Mac Pro (Early 2008 or newer) — Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             7. Xserve (Early 2009) — Model Identifier 3,1 or later
To find the model identifier open System Profiler in the Utilities folder. It's displayed in the panel on the right.
    Are my applications compatible?
See App Compatibility Table — RoaringApps.
    Upgrading to Lion
If your computer does not meet the requirements to install Mavericks, it may still meet the requirements to install Lion.
You can purchase Lion by contacting Customer Service: Contacting Apple for support and service - this includes international calling numbers. The cost is $19.99 (as it was before) plus tax.  It's a download. You will get an email containing a redemption code that you then use at the Mac App Store to download Lion. Save a copy of that installer to your Downloads folder because the installer deletes itself at the end of the installation.
         Lion System Requirements
           1. Mac computer with an Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7,
               or Xeon processor
           2. 2GB of memory
           3. OS X v10.6.6 or later (v10.6.8 recommended)
           4. 7GB of available space
           5. Some features require an Apple ID; terms apply.
