Re: Tecra A10-11J - Display rotates 90 degress if I open a game

Everytime I open a game, my display rotates 90 degrees to the right. I have no ideea how to fix this problem.
I have the right graphics driver. My notebook is a Toshiba Tecra A10-11J.
Please help me, I've read a lot on this subject but nothing helpfull.
Thank you for your time.

Your notebook uses the Intel graphic card and pressing the certain key combination you could rotate the display to a different position.
As Im not mistaken you can use this key combination
Rotate to normal -> press CTRL + ALT + UP buttons
Rotate 90 degrees -> press CTRL + ALT + LEFT \
and so on.
you can also check this in Control panel -> Intel Graphic Media Accelerator

  • X201 display rotates after undock and opening the lid

    Hi,
I'm supporting some guys here in my company. One of them is using a X201 with Win XP and Presentation Manager.
When he undocks the notebook and opens the lid afterwards the screen is turned upside down after a few seconds without hitting a key or anything. He says that this doesn't happen every time,  but almost.
I can bring the correct view back with Strg+Alt+ Arrow Up.
Is there a way to avoid this behavior?
    Thanks

    hey Mithrandir,
try removing Presentation Manager and check if there is any new driver for that unit's graphic card. Install if there is and try again.

  • Tecra S11 - Display display rotation on hotkey

    Hi all,
    I'm using a Tecra S11 with Windows 7 64bit.
By pressing "crtl + alt + down-arrow" my display rotates 180 degrees.
Unfortunately this hotkey is one of my favorite hotkey in Eclipse, so I need to disable the display rotation hotkey.
after a long time searching I havent found a solution.
does anybody know how I may disable the display rotation hotkey ?
    Thanks for any tips
    Regards

    Hi All,
after spending some hours of searching in the internet for a solution for my problem I actually found a solution for it.
    @Horwath
Thanks for your tip with the 'graphic card settings' but unfortunately this didnt solved the problem.
After using the "Process Explorer (Sysinternals)" an taking a detail look on what's happening while pushing the hotkey I found out that there is an special utility from toshiba which executes the monitor rotation.
This utility is named: "TOSHIBA 180 Degrees Rotation Utility". After removing it over the system control, the hotkey was not bound anymore and the system behaves as expected.
And if I need "monitor rotation" anytime again, Ill use the nVidia control panel.
    best regards

  • Re: TECRA A10 - 16D - Is this WXGA or WXGA+?

There seems to be some conflicting info on the Toshiba website regarding the TECRA A10 - 16D model. In the summary it shows the screen display as WXGA whereas in the detail it is defined as WXGA+. Can someone from Toshiba please clarify this. Thanks.

    Hi
As far as I know the notebook has been equipped with the 15.4" (WSXGA+) TFT Color LCD screen.
I assume the + has been forgotten in the details ;)

  • Suddenly no sound Tecra A10 156

    Hi, can anyone help?
all of a sudden I have no sound on my laptop. Before you ask, it isn't on mute! I've tried downloading BIOS and sound driver on this website. no good.
    any ideas?
here are the details of my laptop
    Tecra A10-156
    Part Number : PTSB1E-022005EN
    Key Features
    - Genuine Windows Vista Business 32-bit Edition (pre-installed, Toshiba-HDD recovery) + Downgrade to Windows XP Professional Edition (Toshiba-Recovery DVD)- Intel Centrino with vPro Technology featuring Intel Core 2 Duo Processor P8600- DVD-RW SuperMulti drive (Double Layer)- 2048 MB (1024+ 1024) DDR RAM (800MHz)- 15.4" Widescreen XGA (1280 x 800) High Brightness display
    Thanks

    Dear Emily
I note from your posting that you are an owner like myself of a Tecra A10-156.
I am fellow owner of a A10-156 toshiba Tecra, which, as you will know, came bundled with VISTA pre-installed, but also with a Disk that allows one to downgrade to Windows XP. As I accidentally forgot to back-up the Vista intallation and recovery partition prior to loading Windows XP, I have lost the Vista software.
I understand from TOSHIBA that if there is another A10-156 owner that can let me have a copy of their VISTA recovery DVD I would be able to use this to restore my machine to factory setting.(vista intalled and vista recovery partition ). I would of course have to activate the vista as my copy which would be done using my own product key which is of course on a sticker under the laptop
As I am keen to do this and don't personally know anyone who owns this model (it has to be this exact model) I am asking if you would please be willing to let me have a copy which if you would be able to produce from the windows vista system.
I would be very grateful indeed if you could help and would of course be glad to pay expenses incurred including of course postage and cost of media.
If you ( or any other owner of a A10-156) could help out here I would be greatly indebted.
    Yours sincerely

  • Tecra A10 - Refurbished - unable to get it connected to my home network

I just got this Tecra A10-104 refurbished Laptop...before I take it back I am asking here just in case theres something I have missed as I am unable to get it connected to my home network.
I am running a Belkin Wireless Router that has 2 main PC's directly connected (LAN), and another PC wirelessly connected.
    This is my router: http://www.belkin.com/uk/support/article/?lid=enu&pid=F5D8233uk4&aid=9238&scid=0
All PC's working fine and connected.
Now I'm trying to setup this laptop to connect.
I uninstalled the Vista Business and ussed the XP Pro Product Recovery disc that came with the Tecra.
My WiFi card is: Intel(R) Wireless WiFi Link 5100 (Driver Date: 27/04/2008 - Driver Version: 12.0.0.73)
It sees the network but no matter what i try just won't connect.
What I have done so far (read before suggesting stuff I have already tried):
Reconfigured routers WPS to Shared Key system.
Made sure the wireless adapter has settings set to 20/40hz (auto)
Restarted router, cable modem & laptop several times
Wireless button on side of Laptop is ON.
FN + F8 to enable WIFI (ON) BLUETOOTH (OFF)
Added wireless network to Auto Connect settings along with SSID and passcode end encryption method.
Clicked connect when network appears in network viewer dialogue and retyped passcode.
    Not working.
I should add the Laptop has no problems connecting via its Gigabit LAN port.
    Anything else I'm missing?
    Thanks in advance.
    EDIT: Dual post removed.

    UPDATE:
The next thing I tried was to reinstall Vista Business from recovery disc to see if this suffered from the same problem.
The wireless connection worked fine on Vista and, despite the updates that I was being offered, worked without needing to update any drivers.
This made me think...so the issue is probably XP DRIVER related.
What I have done now is backup all the driver updates I was told to download by TEMPRO (BIOS & wireless manager updates included).
I think part of the problem is that TEMPRO only works in Vista (not XP) so you are not informed of any updates that may be required if you downgrade to XP straight after purchase (which is what I did).

  • Tecra M11-11J - cannot install Windows 7 64bit

Tried to upgrade a Tecra M11-11J to Windows 7 64-bit.
The install gets as far as the 'Loading Windows Files' screen, then goes blank and freezes, with the CPU fan maxing out but no HDD activity.
Have tried reinstalling XP (works fine), reflashing the BIOS to the latest version, re-seating the RAM, changing the HDD to 'Compatibility' mode and reinstalling Win 7 - same problem.
Have tried Win 7 32-bit - same problem.
Install from USB, instead of DVD - same problem.
Different flavours of Win 7 - same problem!
    This is extremely frustrating.
I upgraded the memory to 8GB, hoping to take advantage of this with W7x64 and now I'm stuck with an XP machine and 4GB of RAM going to waste.
Would be very grateful for any suggestions.
    Thanks.

If the IT guys dont have an idea why this happens, I guess this will not be easy to resolve.
Fact is that Tecra M11 was preinstalled with Win7 32BIT PROFESSIONAL system.
The CPU Intel Core i5-430M processor which is built in the notebook supports 64bit too. Therefore it should not be a problem to install, run and use the 64bit version.
    I recommend you trying this:
Go to BIOS, set it to default (F9), additionally change to AHCI mode.
    Save the changes.
No search on Intel page for Intel Rapid Storage Technology (Intel RST) driver.
Add this driver during the Win 7 installation setup (F6)
But if this would not be possible, I guess there is something wrong with your Win 7 disk
As last option could be the installation on Win 7 using USB port.
You would need to create an bootable USB flash memory stick containing Win 7.
Check some step by step instructions in the net

  • Model Number for Tecra A10 PTSB3U-008027?

I am trying to perform updates on my A10; however, I can't find the model number for my laptop.  What is the model number for Tecra A10 PTSB3U-008027?

    Tecra A10 (PTSB3U-01G01401)
    Same situation as above.
That model is in the same part-number family as this one.
    Tecra A10-S3553 (PTSB3U-0T3044)
Consequently, the drivers, utilities, and BIOS upgrades here should work just fine.

  • Where can I buy a Tecra A10

I'm looking to replace my current M10 series laptop to the top of the range of Tecra A10 series.
However, I cannot find a single online supplier that stock them.
Does anyone know where I can buy one either from a shop or online for next day delivery (UK)?
    Thanks in advance.

    @R2D2
I've been gooling it for ages now :-) Would you know how long I have to wait before Toshiba starts distributing them?
Since someone modified my post at his/her own will I have to make a correction here. I don't own Tecra M10 I own Satellite Pro M10 series that is 5 years old. Everything is in perfect working order after 5 years by the way :-)

  • Tecra A10 - BIOS updater doesn't work on Windows 7

Upgrading BIOS for TECRA A10/M10 and Satellite Pro S300/S300M to version v1.90 using P0065v190.exe (bios-20090304141534) fails with message:
"[Error] BIOS Update is not supported OS. Unsupported OS or service pack is installed."
Note: Executing as an Administrator returns the same error.
Probably Windows 7 is not supported but, it must be an explicit protection since the Vista version should work in 7. There's any updater parameter to skip this protection?

BIOS update is designed and tested for certain OS. Win7 is not on the market and at the moment Toshiba offers tested BIOS updated for Vista only.
Sorry but what else to say. You probably know how sensible BIOS update is and how dangerous it can be. So don't play with this and don't make not-tested experiments with this stuff.
In few months Win7 will be on the market and Toshiba will start official support. You can wait few more weeks isnt it?

  • Tecra A10 - Wrong date and error messages

Hello, Toshiba Tecra A10, PTSB0A-002001 running XP pro,
I keep getting the wrong date & error messages on my laptop when I leave my laptop for long periods off without charging, so I guess that the Cmos battery is no good, so I am asking: what is cmos battery number and where can I purchase one?
    Thanks

    Hi joe75,
Before you exchange the CMOS battery: Leave the AC/DC adapter connected for at least 24 hours. During this procedure the CMOS battery will be recharged and the notebook should be able to store the correct date & time settings again.
    Check this!!!

  • Re: Tecra A10 - where are the release notes for updated BIOS?

    Hi,
I have a problem with my Tecra A 10, it occassionally shuts itself down.
I've updated from BIOS 1.4 to BIOS 3.0 to see if this fixes it.
I can't find any release notes to see what has changed between BIOS revisions, can someone point me to them?
    Thanks
    Dominic

    Hi as***,
Thanks for that, exactly what I was looking for.
I won't know if it's fixed it or not until I run the laptop for a few days as it only happens every now and again.
I can already see faster boot times after the bios update though, which is one of the things listed in the bios change history so it was worth updating it.
The laptop is only a few months old, I checked the heat sink before I updated the bios as I read this shutdown problem can be caused by overheating due to a clogged heat sink but mine is clean already.
It also has a problem with the USB ports, sometimes when I plug in a USB device it blue screens, again not consistently, just every now and again. I'm hoping the bios update might help with that as well but still going to look at any other firmware that might help as well.
    Thanks
    Dominic

  • Re: Tecra A10 - Can I install Windows 7 64bit?

    Hello Toshiba & Forum
I want to buy a Tecra A10 1GV, but always Toshiba delveres the Notebook only with a 32 Bit Windows 7 Prof.
In my eyes seems that like a Ferrary with a steam-engine.
The recovery version sometimes offer 32 and 64 bit Installation.
Does someone know, if that would be possible with the Tecra A10?
Is something wrong with a Tecra and a 64 Bit - system?
    Michael
    derEntwickler

    Hey Micheal,
In my opinion the Windows version (32bit or 64bit) has nothing to do with the hardware of the notebook. If you are using 3GB RAM or less in my opinion 32bit is enough because its not slower or faster as 64bit. This is just necessary to use 4GB RAM.
But as Al-eX already wrote you can download all drivers on the Toshiba website. Check this!!!

  • Tecra A10 SDHC Max Size

Have run out of hard drive space (was only 104gb) with Tecra A10 I use for my work.
Laptop still going well and don't want to replace yet but don't want the hassle/cost of upgrading hard drive and transferring files.
Thought was to buy a 32gb SDHC card and leave it permanently in the bridge media slot with my less critical files. Also seems more convenient than having to carry around an external USB HD.
Any idea if media slot will work with a 32gb SDHC card?. I do use it with an 8gb SD card no problem.
Other option is to use the PCMCIA card slot with an SD adapter. Any idea of max card size and whether any speed difference than using the media slot?.
    Thks.

I don't have a card with me today, but a while ago I tried out a 16GB SDHC in a M7(older than your A10) and it worked fine.  I can't imagine that they'd go back to not working.
