Re: Tecra M11-11J - I'm searching Active Management Technology driver

Looking for a driver for the Intel active management technology (AMT), on my Tecra M11-11J
Although there is a category for it on the downloads page, even when searching for all operating systems no results are found!
Thanks in advance,
Nathan

By the way, Xardas is right you can find it on the Toshiba driver page:

  • Tecra M11-11J - cannot install Windows 7 64bit

Tried to upgrade a Tecra M11-11J to Windows 7 64-bit.
The install gets as far as the 'Loading Windows Files' screen, then goes blank and freezes, with the CPU fan maxing out but no HDD activity.
Have tried reinstalling XP (works fine), reflashing the BIOS to the latest version, re-seating the RAM, changing the HDD to 'Compatibility' mode and reinstalling Win 7 - same problem.
Have tried Win 7 32-bit - same problem.
Install from USB, instead of DVD - same problem.
Different flavours of Win 7 - same problem!
    This is extremely frustrating.
I upgraded the memory to 8GB, hoping to take advantage of this with W7x64 and now I'm stuck with an XP machine and 4GB of RAM going to waste.
Would be very grateful for any suggestions.
    Thanks.

If the IT guys dont have an idea why this happens, I guess this will not be easy to resolve.
Fact is that Tecra M11 was preinstalled with Win7 32BIT PROFESSIONAL system.
The CPU Intel Core i5-430M processor which is built in the notebook supports 64bit too. Therefore it should not be a problem to install, run and use the 64bit version.
    I recommend you trying this:
Go to BIOS, set it to default (F9), additionally change to AHCI mode.
    Save the changes.
No search on Intel page for Intel Rapid Storage Technology (Intel RST) driver.
Add this driver during the Win 7 installation setup (F6)
But if this would not be possible, I guess there is something wrong with your Win 7 disk
As last option could be the installation on Win 7 using USB port.
You would need to create an bootable USB flash memory stick containing Win 7.
Check some step by step instructions in the net

  • Intel Active Management Technology Status

    Hello
4 months ago I bought Lenovo X61 ThinkPad notebook has Intel Centrino vPro, just few days ago, each time I start the notebook a pop-up note come up into my screen that the status of Intel Active Management Technology (AMT) is disable, and I should contact authorized system administrator; on the same pop-up a note stating "click here"; I done that and it took me to Intel website, when I read the page, it made me to understand that AMT has something to do with my notebook security.
I shall be grateful if could help me to solve this problem/technical issue to enable the AMT.
    Thank you

    Hi Rado
    > Can you specify what do you mean by recover the system to install after formatting the disk?
I think the Macdreamy means that you have to use the Toshiba original Recovery CD to reinstall the system on your notebook.
The point is that this error could appear if some necessary and essential system files are damage/removed/changed.
    > the first time I install my Toshiba XP no key was required but I am not sure for the second formatting and I only have Vista key on the bottom of the laptop. Do you know how the situation with the XP key in such case is?
As far as I know the Toshiba image (on the Toshiba Recovery CD) is already activated and you dont need any keys for OS activating.
The key at the bottom of the unit belongs to the installed image and it cannot be used with second Windows XP operating system!!!
If you want to use and install the XP on this machine then you would need a original MS Windows XP CD with the right key!
    However, back to the Recovery procedure;
Just put the Recovery CD into the CD/DVD drive -> boot from the recovery CD -> follow the instruction and after a short time the new OS with all Toshiba drivers and tools should be installed correctly.
But note; As Macdreamy already said the data backup could be needed because the Recovery CD formats the whole HDD.
    Good luck

  • W540 no Intel Active Management Technology?

As per subject, I don't see any options enable intel AMT in the bios, and when i log into intel Management Engine I don't have intel AMT settings either, instead I have Intel Smart Business Technology in place of AMT. I went in and i only have 2 options, nothing much to configure here. Is this intended for W540? What does intel SBT does?
    Solved!

    Hi, Edmund_Tan,
Quoting from Intel's site: "Intel Active Management Technology (AMT) is hardware-based technology for remotely managing and securing PCs out-of-band. Currently, Intel AMT is available in desktops, servers, ultrabooks, tablets, and laptops with Intel Core vPro processor family, including Intel Core i3, i5, i7, and Intel Xeon processor E3-1200 product family."
I did some research, and found out that vPro is not supported by the following Intel processors avaiable in W540 models:
    i5-4200M, i7-4700MQ.
If you have one of these, you probably won't find any options for IAMT in the BIOS.
I myself bought the model with i7-4800MQ and can find options for IAMT I the BIOS under: Config  > Intel (R) AMT.
    Hope this helps

  • Enabling Intel AMT (Active Management Technology)

I have a P67A-G45 and would like to be able to remotely administer my desktop PC with Intel AMT.
I have BIOS 1.A and have installed the latest Intel Management Engine Driver for P67/H67 from the MSI website. In Device Manager, I have Intel(R) Management Engine Interface in System Devices.
I've downloaded Intel SCS, but when I run the wizard, I get the message "This system does not support Intel AMT, and therefore cannot be configured."
There doesn't seem to be any option for Intel AMT in the BIOS.
Is it possible to enable Intel AMT on this board?
    Thanks.

Google is your friend if you want to look for answers on your own.
     To use AMT:
Hardware requirements for desktop PCs with Intel vPro
Desktop PCs with vPro (called “Intel Core 2 with vPro technology”) require:

  • X200 Intel Active Management default password??

    Hello,
I brought a Lenovo x200s and directly downgraded it to windows XP.
Then I installed a personal firewall and recognized huge harddrive activity. So i checked the log and recognized the initiator: lms.exe. It belongs to Intel(R) Active Management Technology Local Manageability Service.
I don't need the whole thing and checked the settings in control panel, but noting can be configured. This has to be done during boot. After pressing CTRL+P the Intel Management Engine Bios Extension asks for a Intel ME Passwort
I have never entered any. What's the default one?
    Thanks...

  • Fingerprint utility is not working for normal users - Tecra M11

    Hi All,
I installed windows 7 pro in Tecra M11 laptop and the Toshiba finger print utility is not working for normal users.
It is working only for domain administrators. The TFPU is not working for, normal domain users, local users, local administrators. If we run the utility it will ask to enter the windows password and once we applied the password then the message saying "entered password is not valid" will prompt even if we are trying to use the utility first time.
If we try with a domain admin account it will work without any problem. Can somebody help me to trouble shoot this issue?
    Thanks.

People nowadays experienced that no matter How many times we glide our finger it have no response. In this instance, you might be very afraid of Windows password lost by reason that there is a plenty of important data on your PC.
Then what should you do? One choose is fix the Fingerprint scanners, but this method will cost a lot of money. The other is use the Windows password function to solve the problem. Certainly, this is a very safer, faster and easier to use method for you.
According my personal experience, you can try these three ways to re-access to your PC:
Method 1: Login with the default administrator account
    * Step 1: Start Windows PC
    * Step 2: When you can see the Windows login screen, press ctrl+alt+del keys Twice and it'll show Classic Login box
    * Step 3: Type Administrator as Username and leave the password field blank
    * Step 4: Press the Enter Key and then you can be able to login the default windows administrator account which is it created by default when install windows.
*Note:* This trick is only work for Windows XP. And when you input the key combination Please don't put the cursor on any account. And if you change the name or password before, you cannot login by this way.
Method 2: Use the previous password reset disk
This method describes how to create and use a password reset disk for a computer that is a member of a domain. You can use a Windows password reset disk to gain access to your Microsoft Windows Professional-based computer if you forget your Windows password. Please click here to learn more.
Method 3: Using Windows Password Unlocker
Using Windows password remove software is could be the fastest and easiest way for you to reset your Windows password while you didn't create a password reset disk before.
There are 2 options for you: recover Windows password with a bootable CD/DVD or recover Windows password with a USB flash drive.
Before starting, a bootable CD/DVD or USB flash drive and a computer with CD drive are required. (Internal CD drive and external CD drive are both OK.
Option 1: Recover Windows password by burning a bootable CD/DVD
Option 2: Recover Windows password by burning a USB flash drive
The whole Windows password recovery process can be divided to 3 big steps:
    * >> Step 1: Burn a USB flash drive to remove lost Windows password
    * >> Step 2: Set your target computer to boot from USB
    * >> Step 3: Recover forgotten Windows password with the burned USB flash drive
In fact, all you need is a *Windows Password Unlocker www.passwordunlocker.com/windows-password-recovery.html which can help you directly reset your windows xp password, and then you can login your XP without a password required. Of course, there are also some other ways to do it, but this way may be most convenient one.

  • Tecra M11: How to get 1080i/p from DisplayPort?

I've hooked up my Tecra M11 via a mini-DisplayPort to HDMI adapter to my digital TV but it seems like the best it can do is 800x600!! (WIndows XP)
How do I get 1920x1080 out of this laptop?
    Remove Intel drivers?
    Add newer Intel drivers?
    Patch from Microsoft?
Is it possible to also output HD audio over this port?
Other laptops with HDMI ports can do all of the above, why can't the M11?

Display Port is the successor to HDMI and will eventually start appearing on TVs and other A/V equipment in the coming years.
The evolution has been VGA -> DVI -> HDMI -> DisplayPort.
The Tecra M11 has a mini-display port adapter in lieu of HDMI as do many other current model laptops today. It does not have a HDMI adapter (or even a mini-HDMI adapter, as found on some digital cameras.)
Adapters are available that convert from DisplayPort to HDMI and mini-DisplayPort to HDMI.
If I connect a mini-DisplayPort to HDMI adapter to the laptop, the best resolution that I could successfully view via the cable was 1280x720 (720p). It is not even possible to select 1920x1080 with the output set to "Digital TV" (the maximum resolution is 1600x900). If I say that it is a "Monitor", then it lets me select 1920x1080 but video is only generated at 800x600 and no other resolution.
It's hard to say whether the limitations here are being imposed by the driver from Intel or the actual hardware itself.
    Which model do I have?
    Tecra M11.

  • Tecra M11 - a few questions

Hi everyone, just got a new TECRA M11 laptop, a few quick questions please:
    A. Is it possible to change the settings for the eco button? I.E. to make it opperate a program? if so how?
    B. How can I see the volume graph when i turn it down or up?
Some kind of graphics or a meter showing how high it is, like system contgrol manager in my previous laptop which was generic...
    C. Is the mouse pad multi touch? if not is it possible to install something or whatever to make it so?
    Thanks E.

    A
I have tested it on my Satellite U500 and it is possible.
    How?
    -open Toshiba Assist > Optimize
    -start Toshiba Button control
Button name must be set to eco
Click on Deregister and when the TBS message is shown confirm with OK
Click on Browse and choose right exe file for your favourite application > confirm with open
    Click on Register
Your favourite application should start when you press eco button.
When you want to have eco utility again just deregister your last settings
    B
I think this visual graphic level status doesnt exist under Windows 7. The volume level you can see when you click on volume symbol placed in taskbar (Windows volume level)
    C
Usually on every Toshiba notebook is preinstalled additional touchpad driver with many additional settings. Go into mouse properties and check additional settings.
By the way: this must be described in users manuals document.
Have you already check this document?

  • Re: Tecra A10-11J - Display rotates 90 degress if I open a game

Everytime I open a game, my display rotates 90 degrees to the right. I have no ideea how to fix this problem.
I have the right graphics driver. My notebook is a Toshiba Tecra A10-11J.
Please help me, I've read a lot on this subject but nothing helpfull.
    Thank you for your time.

Your notebook uses the Intel graphic card and pressing the certain key combination you could rotate the display to a different position.
As Im not mistaken you can use this key combination
Rotate to normal -> press CTRL + ALT + UP buttons
    Rotate 90 degrees -> press CTRL + ALT + LEFT \
    and so on.
you can also check this in Control panel -> Intel Graphic Media Accelerator

  • Why has the Tecra M11-11M only got the 32-bit version of Windows 7?

Why has the Tecra M11-11M only got the 32-bit version of windows 7 and not the 64-bit?
Surely the i7 and 4gb can cope with the demands and the 64-bit version would allow more efficient use of the computing power.
    Many thanks,

Good question but Im afraid only Toshiba marketing division has right answer to your question.
I just presume they create own decision based on market research.
You can try to install own 64bit version if the drivers, tools and utilities are available.

  • Tecra M11 - Random Crashes with Windows 7

We have a Toshiba Tecra M11 running Windows 7 which has a problem in which it randomly crashes, forcing the user to hard reboot it. When it crashes, the fans spin up, not sure if this means anything. We've tried many things to fix it.
At first we thought it may be overheating, which would explain the fan, but the laptop got through a 24 hour stress test absolutely fine with normal temperatures. The laptop also isn't necesarrily doing anything stressful when it crashes We also tried reinstalling some of the main drivers and also intalled the newest (2.60) BIOS but still the same problem.
It crashes up to 2 times a day, but can also go some days without crashing. It's a very strange problem and we'd very much appreciate a fix for it.
    Thanks
    George

I just posted this answer on another thread. However, for me, the following worked. The laptop was locking up at least once a day with no clear cause since I bought it.
I've been trying for the last few weeks to get a fix for this. However, I've removed the fingerprint reading software and disabled the fingerprint reader in device manager. This appears to have finally fixed the issue (fingers crossed, one week no crash). I'd also removed Toshiba reeltime and eco utilities but had less success. The various BIOS updates have not helped.
All the latest drivers were installed. I also rebuilt the machine and could not get a crash from it with the factory build though I didn't setup the fingerprint software. USB connections also seemed to have a bearing on stability, though everything has been fine since the fingerprint reader was crippled.
    Hope that helps.

  • Tecra M11-11M - Resume failure

My Tecra M11-11M does not resume to the position I left, once it goes into harbenation. It resume a few times, but after few times, the Windows 7 32 bit systems resumes, but does not log into my user progile, hence I have to do a cold reboot of the system.
I need help how to over come this problem.

    Hey,
Im a little bit confused about your posting
How do you get into hibernation mode? Do you press FN+F4 key combination or do you choose hibernation from start menu?
And if you try hibernation, does the notebook power off or is it still on?
How do you wake up your notebook from hibernation? Do you just open the lid or press power button?
Why it does not log into your user profile? Does the notebook freeze or what happens exactly?
A lot of questions I know but otherwise its not possible to give you detailed answer.
