Re: Tecra M5 Wakes Up from hibernation for no good reason

Spec M5 2GB Xp Pro SP3
Placed into hibernation (Shut Down ->Hibernation) the machine happily hibernates and then, for no apparent reason, 'wakes up'. Power mamangement settings are, I think, OK
* Network Cards all have power management allow this device to bring the computer out of standby unticked
* Modem has this box unticked
* USB Root Hubs all have this box unticked
The PC is in hibernation so there is no software running so why does the damn thing wake up?
When it does wake up, Event Viewer says the first thing to run was e1express (Event 42 Intel(R) PRO/1000 PL Network Connection driver had been started.) so something seems to have kicked off the network card but sadly it does not tell me what.
There are no scheduled tasks
So what is waking it up
TFAI
W

Barry
Yes - so it would seem but I find that strange
In hibernation, memory is written to disc, nothing is running so nothing that has been installed should wake up the PC. The only options that can wake it up are, I think
Wake up on LAN - Disabled in BIOS.
Network Devices: Device manager there are 3 network devices (LAN, Wifi and Adapter). Those that have a power management setting (LAN & Wifi) have it set to Do not wake up
Modem: set to Do not wake up
USB: Wake up in USB There are 6 USG Root Hubs. All set to Do not wake up. Nothing else has a power management setting
Scheduled Tasks: there are no scheduled task listed (unless something writes a scheduled task on hibernation)
Or have I misunderstood hibernation?
If someone knows of something else that can wake it up, please let me know and I will search some more.

  • Qosmio G20 wakes from hibernation for no apparent reason

    Greetings All,
For a while now I have noticed that my Qosmio G20 tends to wake from hibernation at random times for no apparent reason. When I place it into hibernation overnight it successfully transitions into a hibernation state but (usually) after a few hours suddenly wakes from said state for no reason.
Obviously this isn't a critical issue but I do prefer to hibernate whenever practicable (as opposed to standby) and it is rather annoying to awoken at 4:00am by the Qosmio's triumphant burst of music (still it's better than windows 'ta da!' :P)
    Any ideas?
    Kindest,
    Lee.

There is indeed such an option available on screen 1 of the BIOS setup, unfortunately it is presently set as disabled so I guess that isn't the cause of my woes. :(
Thanks for replying though, always nice to learn a new thing. ;)

  • Equium A110: Cannot use LAN after wake up from hibernation or standby

    Hi guys

One other problem. when i try to cut some thing i cannot paste it if i open a new folder. I have to keep the folder open go back cut it again and then paste it. I mean if after cut i open any folder it wont paste it.
    Please help me out .
    Thanks

    Hi
Did you try to refresh the connection? Something similar happens on my notebook but not with LAN but with WLan. If you right click on the small lan icon you will see the option repair. Check it.
Have found also this possibility. I dont know if it will help but try it.
    1. go to [Start] -> [Control Panel] -> select [System]
    2. On system properties dialog box select [Hardware] tab -> click [Device manager]
    3. On Device manager dialog box select [Networking adapters] -> double click [Intel(R) PRO/100 VE Network Connection]
    4. Go to [Advanced] tab -> select [Wake On Settings] property -> Select [Wake on Magic & Directed]
    5. Press [OK] to close the dialog box.

  • Satellite P200-144 shuts down after wake up from hibernation mode

Sometimes when I resume my computer from hibernation, I come back to it (after going to make a cup of tea whilst it boots up, for instance) to find it off again.
I have since observed it more closely and discovered the following: if I resume from hibernation and do not touch the mouse or keyboard, the computer will load up Windows but then hibernate itself again immediately.
If I move the mouse pointer at some point whilst Windows is finishing loading the desktop, etc., then the computer doesn't automatically hibernate.
Has anyone else had this problem and is there a solution?

Thanks for your reply. I am, and always have been, running the latest BIOS. I have never experienced the issue with standby, but that is probably because of the way I use my computer -- with standby, I start using it immediately. I have not tested resuming from standby and not pressing any buttons or moving the mouse.
Have you tested it as I described, by not moving the mouse or pressing any keys when resuming from hibernation, or are you just recalling from memory that you have not experienced it?

  • Firefox crashes when Mac OS X 10.6.8 wakes up from hibernation

Firefox has crashed now multiple times within a month in following event:
    - Firefox browser is open (with 1 or more tabs) and Mac OS X 10.6.8 wakes up from sleep - whenever clicking to Firefox to continue browsing, it crashes immediately.
Open tabs have never been really heavy pages or something.
Simple as it is; If browser is open when waking up the Mac, it'll crash immediately when trying to use it.
EDIT: Browser was updated the same day question was posted::.

    Go to System Preferences/Users/Login Items
Select the application you want to stop opening and click the minus button.

  • T61p: Cannot wake computer from hibernation despite changing the power settings XP

After some time away from the computer, it seems to be sleeping or hibernating (I don't know the difference). The screen is dark. Sometimes, I can wiggle the mouse or pad and it wakes up, but now, I have to hold down the on/off button and power off and restart.
I went into Power Management and turned off everything I could. I've tried using the FN keys. Hibernation is unchecked.
I'm so frustrated. The troubleshooting was useless. And I called Lenovo twice and got a complete runaround. They sent me to dealers for government!
I love my two Lenovo computers, but their support is the worst I've ever seen. I hope someone can help.
    Thanks,

  • Windows 8 wakes up from hibernation on its own

    Hello guys,
I recently updated to Windows 8. I've found that everytime I hibernate my PC it will automatically wake up on it's own at random times.
I had this issue with Windows 7 and fixed it by disabling wake armed peripherals. I've done this in Windows 8 with no luck.
I checked the automatic maintanance option and that is also disabled from waking up my PC.
I have no idea what else to do. The powercfg -lastwake command shows me no devices, it only says:
    Wake History Count - 1
    Wake History [0]
    Wake Source Count - 0
Any ideas on what the issue could be or where I could start looking?

I  have that exact problem as well unfortunately the "powercfg
-devicequery wake_armed"  is largely useless as it is showing only USB mouse and keyboard to be able to wake the computer up and I know nobody touched it in the period when the computer decided to wake up by itself.
Additionally when I physically disconnect the network cable then the computer does NOT wake up by itself anymore. But I already disabled my network card from being able to wake up my computer - why is it waking up with the network cable in? And more
importantly - how can I stop this from happening?
Today I noticed the computer got woken up and immediately clientwindowsupdate program installed some updates. But I have configured the windows update to NOT wake up my computer..

  • Computer wakes from sleep for no obvious reason

    The console tells me this:
    11/09/2010 21:36:54 kernel Wake reason = UHC4
    11/09/2010 21:36:54 kernel System Wake
    11/09/2010 21:36:54 kernel Previous Sleep Cause: 0
11/09/2010 21:36:54 kernel The USB device IOUSBWirelessControllerDevice (Port 1 of Hub at 0x1a000000) may have caused a wake by issuing a remote wakeup.
There are no USB peripherals plugged in. What's going on?

    Got the culprit!
After a couple of nights where I switched off the mouse on the one hand and the keyboard on the other, I found the guilty party who keeps waking my iMac up: the keyboard. My computer slept all night, peacefully until I manually woke it up this morning.
The night before with the mouse turned off, the same issue kept happening as previously described.
So here is the cure for anyone suffering the syndrome:
Turn off your wireless keyboard (by pressing and holding the power button on the side until the green LED has gone off), then use your mouse to put your computer to sleep, it will sleep undisturbed until you wake it up again yourself.

  • Dell XPS 8700 Wakes up from Hibernation on its Own

My Dell XPS 8700 which is set to hibernate most of the sleep suddenly wakes up on its own in the middle of the night. It has happened since the last few days every day almost.
Can someone suggest how to overcome this problem.
    BEst
    Rohit

I was able to solve the problem.
Dell XPS models has 'Allow Wake Timers" enabled on it by default.
I was able to disable it by going to Power Options >Change Plan Settings > Change Advanced Power Settings > Sleep> Allow Wake Timers > DIsable
Hopefully now my Desktop will get a good night sleep.

  • Unable to create Sales order from "BAPI_SALESORDER_CREATEFROMDAT2" for Free Goods

    Hi Experts,
I am facing the issue while creating the Sales order through "BAPI_SALESORDER_CREATEFROMDAT2" , all is going well in normal cases but when I process the contract with FREE GOODS line items for which free goods condition record is maintained it fails to create the Sales order. Is there any special treatment for this Free goods case. Is there any Flag to be passed from BAPI?
    Regards,

    Hi Paaavan
You can set a break-point include "FV45PFAP_VBAP_BEARBEITEN_VORBE" that is called by both the SAP Standard and BAPI where the data is prepared and checked in the internal table XVBAP. Compare both SAP standard VA01 and your 'Z' program for what may be different in XVBAP.
I think the problem my be with regards to the business_object number that is hardcoded in the standard function module. It has given me issues before and hence I tend to use the function module  SD_SALESDOCUMENT_CREATE to create sales documents with.

  • Tecra M5 laptop keeps typing iiiii for no obvious reason

    Hi,
Started last night, my 1 year 2 month old M5 suddenly started typing iiiii almost as if the key had stuck down, but its not physically stuck (that I can see). Problem persists even after a reboot. I'm hoping its just a "stuck" key. Anyone else experienced / heard of this and can it be cleared with a blast of cleaning air or is a keyboard off job (or even something more sinister like a virus; checkers and firewall all up to date and active though)? Laptop is running XP.
    Thanks in advance
    Mark

A friend of mine had another strange issue.
The cursor jumped all the time and it was not possible to use the keyboard and the touchpad.
Finally the keyboard was replaced and this has solved the problem.
I presume you keyboard malfunctions and you should contact some ASP technicians for the help. If your warranty is valid then everything should be done for free!

  • Space Between Tables For No Good Reason

    Hey everyone.
I sliced up my web design in Photoshop and imported it into DW.  So far, so good.  Everything looks perfect.  Then I inserted a .swf into one of the tables and started to see a little bit of space between my tables.  Since the .swf was the same size or slightly smaller than the space it occupied, I have no idea why this happened.
To make matters worse, when I made my navigation text into links, I got ugly blue outlines around them and even MORE empty space between my tables!  I didn't move anything, but the space just keeps getting worse!  Does anyone have any thoughts?

This is often because a site has not been defined in Dreamweaver so DW does not know where the web site is in relation to the images on the hard drive so it has little choice but to directly link (locally) to the image on the hard drive.
Have you defined the site in DW?

    Hello, all!
I have disabled all overclocking on my mobo and am using 1T settings on my RAM. For some reason(s), I am occasionally getting reboots under Windows XP. I am not playing a heavy game or anything, just burning music and surfing the web. Maybe downloading stuff with Agent as well. I installed all the latest drivers per the FAQ on this site, in the order prescribed.
One time I got a message saying "Windows has recovered from a serious error" after one of the random reboots and I screen-captured the Windows XP error message after getting back up:

Any ideas what is causing my random reboots? Is this software-related? ... Or hardware, you think?
I have the "use aggressive timings" option enabled in the BIOS. Should I disable that? I have my "AGP aperture" set to 512MB (my total system RAM is 1G). Is that right? Should I allow my RAM to work at 2T instead of pushing 1T? Are this settings even likely to be causing my reboots?
    Thanks for any help.

Relax your RAM timings a bit, till you find a working combination.

  • Apple ID Disabled for no good reason

    Hi, guys.
My apple id has been disable by apple on 3rd April.
I've sent out email to them, and apparently they replied it was due to the fact that the card holder whose card purchased the ($100)iTunes Gift Certificates redeemed to my account has refuted the charges with his or her credit card company. The buyer will need to contact the credit card company to discuss the disputed purchase.
However, I'am totally not involved with purchasing the itunes gift card certificate, i'm only redeeming it.
I'm okay if apple deduct the $100 from my apple id balance, but it is unfair and illogical for apple to disable the id of the receiver.
I've sent 2nd email telling them about this, but they close down my case before i even knew it. I still have $15 balance on that id, and I don't want to create another id. Im guessing that even if i do call them, they wont even bother about my case. What should i do?

All you can do is call them:

  • New Connection Cancelled for no good reason

Hello I'm posting here in a bit of desperation, hopefully someone can help. I'm with Virgin Media and got a "come back to BT" letter so I phoned up, liked the deal and signed up, install at the end of the month.
On Monday night, I downloaded 2 programmes iPlayer and realised I'd downloaded over 3Gb so maybe a 10Gb allowance wouldn't be enough, I spent ages trying to get through to change to option 2. When I finally got through, I was told the BB install had been cancelled, this turns out to be due to the phone side being unable to port my number from Virgin - odd as it's been with Virgin then off to BT (Orange BB) then back to Virgin and now unable to go to to BT? I was told the address on BT is different from the address Virgin hold for me, I've checked with both and they are identical....right down to the post code.
The result is I have a cancelled order and even re-submitting it isn't looking likely to get anywhere. I've been trying to track down an email address for BT to try and follow up - I really don't want to spend another 30 minutes on the phone listening to the ringing tone.
The only good thing out of it so far is that Virgin have price matched so my choices now are:
BT unlimited calls (inc 0845/0870), 5.5 MB, 10Gb allowance, BT Openzone and FON
Virgin: unlimited calls, 10Gb BB, no other extras
Personally I like the Openzone and FON but think 10Gb these days isn't enough and the deal I was offered won;t discount option 2 so I would have to pay the extra for Option 3 which then gets me back to the VM price which I didn't want to pay in the first place!
Ahhhgggghhh! CAn I ever escape from Virgin!

    Hi Johnny_ boy,
Welcome to the forum.  I can help you with this.
Please drop me an email to [email protected], include your full address, contact telephone number and any order numbers that you have received from BT, I will check from my end to see what has happened to your order and if need be, I can get a new order placed.
    Cheers
