Re:update windows 7 Service Pack 1 for x64 based system (KB976932)

Hi, I tried to updte automatically and mannually : windows 7 Service Pack 1 (KB976932) for windows 7 x64 based system. However error 404, happened, no solution suggested I can find online. Could someone can help me?

Hi,
From your error message,  error 404 generally means whenever someone asks for a page that’s simply not
available on your site. The reason for this is that there may be a link on your site that was wrong or the page
might have been recently removed from the site. As there is no web page to display, the web server sends a
page that simply says "404 Page not found".
Did you get this error when you download or install process?
Please disable your firewall and antivirus temporarily and then download the package from the following address:
Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 Service Pack 1 (KB976932)

Note: make sure choose the proper version (x64) for your system.
After that, run this "Fix it" tool below and install the update again:

  • Service pack 1 for windows vista home premium

Recently my computer had a virus. I had to do a complete system restore. Now that I have done this I am trying to install the service pack 1 for this operating system and I get to the third step and the progress bar hardly moves. I have let it run for
up to 8 hours and no progression. I tried to install the service pack 2 but it says I need 1 first. Need lots of help on this issue please. Windows update not catching that I need this.

    Hi,
During the Windows Vista SP1 installation, this issue occurs when a third-party application holds open a file or locks a file that the Service Pack installation program
has to use. For example, a third-party antivirus or antispyware application may cause this problem. If you are running any third-party applications such as Spyblocker, Internet or web accelerators (programs designed to boost the speed of the Internet connection),
security or anti-virus programs (McAfee, Norton, etc.), I recommend temporarily disabling or shutting them down during the troubleshooting process. Please be sure to re-enable them once the process has completed.
I recommend running Reset Windows Update Tool and System Update Readiness Tool. System resources, such as file data, registry data, and even in-memory data, can develop
inconsistencies during the lifetime of the operating system. These inconsistencies can be caused by various hardware failures or software issues. In some cases, these inconsistencies can affect the Windows servicing store, and they can cause software updates
not to work. We can run Reset Windows Update Tool and System Update Readiness Tool to resolve these inconsistencies. When Reset Windows Update Tool and System Update Readiness Tool detects incorrect manifests, files, or registry data, it might replace the
incorrect data with a corrected version. Please follow the steps below.
Step 1: Run Reset Windows Update Tool and System Update Readiness Tool
    1. Please download and run Reset Windows Update Tool from the link below:
    http://go.microsoft.com/?linkid=9665683
    2. Please download and run System Update Readiness Tool from the link below according to the System Type:

    2. Please save it on the Desktop.
Step 2: Install Windows Vista SP1 in Clean Boot Mode
    =========================================
Please disable all startup items and third party services when booting to avoid conflict when installing
    Vista SP1.:
    1. Click "Start", type: MSCONFIG in the search box and press Enter.
Note: Please click "Continue" if the "User Account Control" window pops up.
    2. Click "Services", check the "Hide All Microsoft Services" box and click "Disable All" (if it is not gray).
    3. Click "Startup", click "Disable All", click "OK" and restart the computer.
Note: Temporarily disabling the Startup Group only prevents the startup programs from loading at startup. This shouldn't affect the system or other programs. We can manually run these programs later.
    4. Please double click the downloaded Windows Vista Service Pack 1 Standalone Installer and follow the instructions to install Windows
    Vista SP1.
To restore the computer to use a Normal Startup, repeat step 1 above. Then click "Normal Startup" on the General tab, click "OK", and then restart the computer.
Please take your time with the steps and let me know the results at your earliest convenience. If there are any questions or concerns, please post here for further

    Hi,
Try to use Chkdsk tool to check if it could fix this issue:
    1.
Type cmd in the Start Search box, right-click cmd.exe in the Programs list, and then click Run as administrator.
If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type your password, or click Continue.
    2.
At a command prompt, type the following command, and then press ENTER:
    Chkdsk /R X:
In this command, X: is a placeholder that represents the drive letter of the volume that you want to check.

  • Problem installing Service pack 1 for Windows Vista 32-bit from windows update

I have been trying to install Service Pack 1 for Windows Vista Home (32 bits) through Windows Update many times. The Update panel shows Windows Vista Service Pack 1 (KB936330) is available. I install the update, which by the way, just takes me few minutes curiouslly. The "update succesfully installed" message with the green circle checked on appears. But then, when I check my computer properties, the Service Pack 1 is not there and Windows Updated keeps showing again and again the update for Windows Vista Service Pack 1 (KB936330) is available and that needs to be installed. I don't know what else to do, can you help me please.

    Hi:
Try downloading and installing the standalone SP1 file.
    http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=30
If you get it to install that way, go straight to SP2 with the standalone download.

  • Cumulative Security Update for Windows XP Service Pack 2 Warning!

Not sure how many of you guys remember the problems associated with the Windows XP Service Pack 2 when it was first released, but the latest Cumulative Security patch completely disabled my Plextor 708A DVD drive and locked up Windows Explorer.
    Here is the problem patch:
o Cumulative Security Update for Internet Explorer for Windows XP Service Pack 2 (KB883939)
It caused my Plextor 708A to give off two blinking Amber lights, which according to Plextor indicates the drive is defective.  Plextor actually tells you to get a RMA ticket and to return the drive.  Luckily I found it odd that my DVD drive became defective after I installed the latest windows update and tried uninstalling the 'fixes' before going that route.  Fortunately, removal of one of the 'fixes' solved my problem.
If you find that your DVD or CD Player no longer works after doing a windows update, then do the following:
     o Go to Control Panel
     o Select Add Remove Programs
o Scroll to the bottom and select Security Update for Windows XP (KB883939)
     o Click 'Remove'
     o Restart your computer
I might not have the latest security fix right now, but at least my computer is running.
Stu:  Can you report this to MSI and have them get in touch with M$?

i will, if this is a problem affecting a lot of users.
has anyone else experienced this problem?

  • Can't update AIR application on Windows XP service pack 3

We've run into another AIR update issue with our AIR 2.0.4 sidecar product.
Our application uses the standard ApplicationUpdater.checkNow() method to look for and download updates. Just such an update was issued recently, and one of our team members has reported an issue attempting to download the new update on a Windows XP service pack 3 machine.
They are getting an Error 16818.
    Thanks for any insight.

    Hi,
Error 16818 is "IO error while saving data to disk".  Is there any way we could get the installer log from this machine?  It might give us additional clues.
