Re: Updating Marvell Yukon ethernet driver on an Equium A300D

About a month ago I think it was I got an alert on the Toshiba Tempro tool to update a driver for the Marvell Yukon ethernet driver on my laptop. I downloaded the zip file as instructed from the Marvell website (an updated driver was released on 18/8/08) and attempted to install it, but it was then I hit a problem. When I try to install it I'm told a previous version is already installed, and to uninstall the previous version first.
The problem is when I go to the Device Manager and try and find the driver, the only entry there's for a "Marvell Yukon 88E8040T PCI-E Fast Ethernet Controller" , but the driver I was prompted to install was for a Marvell Miniport Driver.
At the time I simply ignored it, thinking the update wasn't relevant to me, but since then I've had a number of BSODs - the latest this afternoon - and in all the cases when Windows has finished doing it's error reporting thing, it comes back with the advice that I need up update the Marvell Yukon Semiconductor driver...and directs me to the same download that I was originally directed to by the Tempro alert. Of course again, it tells me I have to uninstall the previous version before installing it, but as I can't find a previous version of this Miniport driver to uninstall there's nothing I can do about it, so again I ignore it. Everything appears to be working fine (apart from my ongoing dropped internet connection problems with my wireless network and the fact that I can't seem to set up a wired connection (maybe because of this driver problem?), but then sooner or later I get a BSOD again, and it blames the Marvell Yukon driver, and I'm back to square one again. I've had the BSOD now 4 or 5 times over the last month.
Any advice appreciated.

Hello
Have you tried to roll back the OS to earlier time using system restore tool?
Try it and let us know if everything works well again. If yes leave it and be happy without updates.

  • Slow internet speed due to Marvell Yukon LAN driver

    Hello all!
I am a newbie here so not sure if I am supposed to ask this question here but anyway hope my problem gets solved somehow.
I am using Toshiba Satellite A200 Notebook, I got this last week and everything works fine except for my internet speed, its too slow. I am on a 10Mb/s plan but my speed is no where close to that. I am getting speeds near 200kb/s to 300kb/s max. After a lot of googleing I came to know that the Marvell Yukon LAN driver is the problem here.
According to some websites, we are supposed to roll back the driver to a previous version, I did this but still the speed does not want to increase. I have tried almost all the things I can do but getting nowhere so far. I have called my ISP, they say everything is looking good on their side, ran Norton Antivruis scan on this machine, disabled firewall, and the list goes on but nothing.
It would be great if anyone could help me out here.
    Thanks in advance...

    Hi,
did you checked your connection with another computer, if the problem still exists with another machine??
Would be really interesting...otherwise I suggest you to recover your machine to "factory-default". Maybe it solves something.
Another idea would be to remove the "Qos" (Quality of service)service from your network connection which virtually slows down the connection due to software reasons.
Please give some feedback and please tell me which system youre using (Vista, XP)
    Thx
    bye

  • Do I install the Marvell Yukon Ethernet Controller in Windows Update?

    Hi all,
I have a MacBook Pro 2.4GHz with Vista Home Premium via Bootcamp. I installed all the Bootcamp supplied drivers and all the major components seem to be working fine. When I run Windows Update, however, it keeps on recommending that I install the following:
Marvell Yukon 88E8058 PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet Controller
Its listed as "Optional" but keeps coming up. Has anybody installed this successfully without issue? Given that the Ethernet connection is working fine, is it worth it to try and install it?
    Thanks,
    JLC

    Kenny:
I am not very clear on what you are asking however I am assuming that you are on a wireless LAN and that you can see the Router however cannot connect to the internet wirelessly.
You are right about the "Network Cable Unplugged" icon. That is just to let you know that a wired connection does not exist currently for your laptop.
Did you install the Boot Camp Drivers in Windows yet?

  • Can not install Ethernet Driver on my Equium A100-147

I am trying to install my ethernet drivers and the drivers I got from the site, apart from not being able to access them on sunday they do not work, windows does not pick them up and there seems to be no install/setup file?
Please can someone help this is really annoying now...
    OS: Windows Media
    Wireless: Working
    Ethernet : Not working
    Help!

    Hi
It seems that the Equium A100-147 belongs to the PSAABE.
Please be sure that you have used and installed the right LAN driver for this series!!!
I think the notebook uses the Intel Ekron-R(82562GZ) Chip.
If you want you can download the Lan (Ethernet) driver from the Intel page.
    This will works for sure!!!

  • 10.8.5 update breaks ethernet driver?

So after updating my mid-late 2007 MBP to 10.8.5, it crashes hard when connected to the wired ethernet.   By crashes hard, I mean the clock stops, the machine stops responding and turns itself off.   This does not seem to happen when I am connected to the wireless.
Is it possible that the update broke the ethernet driver --at least for my machine.
I have tried the following to fix it:
Boot off of restore partition--repair disk, repair permissions
    Reset Pram
Reset system (pull the battery, press the power)
Install the update from the Combo
Delete and re-install the ethernet from system preferences
There were no detectable problems before the update and I'm connected to the ethernet everyday for 8-10 hours.   This problem began immediately after the update.
Anyone else having this problem?  Thoughts?   I know this update worked on ethernet speed--is it now broken?
    Thanks!
    Chris

Do you have recovery partition? Disconnect ethernet cable and Boot to recovery mode. Then connect your ethernet cable and run Get more help as this will open Safari (test a bit longer than just a 1-2 mins, give like a 10-20mins). If problem persist in Recovery Mode or Mac has problem with connection then you have a hardware issue. If in Recovery mode is ok, try boot to Safe mode, create new user and see if still is the same.
If above doesn't help, then go to /Library/Preferences and rename SystemConfiguration folder to SystemConfiguration.OLD and then restart your computer. This step will reset all network settings and create new config files - although there shouldn't be any problems but Time Machine Backup would be recomended to have it anyway.

  • I got internal error 2738 after trying to install the marvell yucon ethernet adapter driver

I got the marvell yucon ethernet adapter driver on the acer support page. My laptop is an extensa 5420-5038 with vista sp2 32 bit. My wired lan is not working but the wireless is. The version of the acer driver is 10.12.8.3 if that would help. I think uninstalling the old software for the adapter must have failed during installation and I don't know what to do. I don't know how to find any old applications or machine language software for the adapter in the computer to uninstall before trying again if that is what I have to do. Do I have to go to the command prompt and do something?

  • Which kernel module should I use for Marvell Yukon 88E8001?

Which kernel module should I use for Marvell Yukon 88E8001?
    a. sky2
    b. skge
    c. sk98lin

    I found this in the kernel''s /driver/net/Kconfig:
    config SKGE
    tristate "New SysKonnect GigaEthernet support"
    depends on PCI
    select CRC32
    ---help---
This driver support the Marvell Yukon or SysKonnect SK-98xx/SK-95xx
and related Gigabit Ethernet adapters. It is a new smaller driver
with better performance and more complete ethtool support.
It does not support the link failover and network management
features that "portable" vendor supplied sk98lin driver does.
This driver supports adapters based on the original Yukon chipset:
Marvell 88E8001, Belkin F5D5005, CNet GigaCard, DLink DGE-530T,
    Linksys EG1032/EG1064, 3Com 3C940/3C940B, SysKonnect SK-9871/9872.
It does not support the newer Yukon2 chipset: a separate driver,
sky2, is provided for Yukon2-based adapters.
To compile this driver as a module, choose M here: the module
will be called skge. This is recommended.
Looks like your module is "skge"

  • BartPE boot disk and MacBookPro Ethernet driver

    Hi,
I have spent the best part of the last 2 days fiddling with BartPE to get it to boot our MacBookPros so that I can use Ghost to image them.
I am having problems with the Ethernet driver. I have added the Yukon Marvel v10.60.6.3 drivers to the drivers folder as Bart documentation says but this driver does not seem to be the one for the MacBookPro. It works on a friend's MacBook where his windows reports the Ethernet to be a Generic Marvell Yukon 88E8053 based ethernet controller.
Has anyone got Bart to boot and network the MacBookPros and if so, can you give me a few pointers as to what I must be doing wrong.
    thanks

For you to have the best experience in the HP forum I would like to direct your attention to the HP Forums Guide Learn How to Post and More
I understand that you were unable to boot into Windows,  and you suspected the hard drive and tested it, but it passed both short and long test.  With that being said and the fact that it also passed  leads me to believe the hard drive is fine.
You tested the memory and it failed.  You tried reseating and swapping slots but they  still failed the test.
I would test each card individual with the memtest to determine if it is just one or both cards that have an issue.
When you installed it in another computer, you did see the recovery partition.  Once the memory issue is resolved, if you are still unable to boot into Windows, I suggest you do a recovery with the minimized image.   Here is a link to Performing an HP System Recovery (Windows 8) to assist you with that process.
    I hope this helps.

  • Ethernet Driver Not Installed and Yet It Is - Network useless

Device Manager reports the network port on my W500 (4063-3FU) suddenly lacks a driver (Code 28). This is odd since I had manually installed it myself during the upgrade to a 64 bit (Win7 x64 SP1) ... because even the recent SystemUpdate utils don't work very well (as evidenced by the many tips on the forum to manually install things in a certain order).
Multiple attempts to install Lenovo's latest network driver manually appeared to go smoothly, but Windows still says there's no driver. Astra32 calls it an Unknown device which may be odd, and the diagnostic tool "Lenovo Service Center" (LSC) is too vaue to be of use. I am adding screenshots .
So I let Device Manager and Windows Update try to get an updated driver, but it could never find a driver. Or it would get various errors (Red X marks that tell the user nothing useful).
Programs & Features shows what i think may be the entry (highlighted in blue) for the network/port/driver but it's vague. I've been reluctant to uninstall it just yet.
Does anyone know what I should do next? I need to get the network port going.

What about the blue-highlighted entry in the last graphic (from Programs & Features)... Might that be the LAN driver? How could I check?
When I go here for  the LAN driver
    http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/products/laptops-and-netbooks/thinkpad-w-series-laptops/thinkpad-w500/4063/3fu
It says Ethernet driver (Intel PRO/1000 LAN adapter software) for Windows 7 (32-bit, 64-bit), XP - ThinkPad is the driver for the W500.
The page on the network chipset is here:
    http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/products/laptops-and-netbooks/thinkpad-w-series-laptops/thinkpad-w500/4063/3fu/downloads/DS019225
The network chip should be one of these: Intel® 82567LM Gigabit Network ConnectionIntel® 82567LF Gigabit Network Connection
Question is, how do I get the system to evaluate the network hardware? LSC is useless.

  • Moving to an external Ethernet Drive - Libraries and Photos are a mess - Cant Find Images

I am in the process of wanrting to consolidate my LR3 files to an 2TB external ethernet drive (connected via airport extreme).  First, are there any issue with using the networked drive.  I've heard that there may be.
Second, my libraries and photos are all over the place.  I cant seem to find the proper catalgues and sometimes files go missing or offline.  So, duringn this move to the new 2TB drive, I want to use this opportunity to find and move all the LR3 "stuff" i can and make the workflow better organized.
How can I simply do that???
    Thanks!

First, let me suggest that there are two issues here ... Storage (exactly where your photos and catalog file are located) and organization (how do you find/search for the photo(s) of interest. These are different issues.
    First ... storage:
You can move your photos and catalog file anywhere to meet your storage needs. You move the catalog file simply by moving it in Windows or Mac Finder to the internal HD (or any other non-network drive). Recommended: put the catalog file on your fastest hard disk. Recommended: move the previews (that are located in subfolders where the catalog is) along with the catalog file. Once moved, you open it by double-clicking on it.
You can move your photos anywhere you want them to be, including a network drive. Although I recommend you move them in Lightroom so as to not break the links, you can also move the folders outside of Lightroom and then reconnect (in the folder panel, right-click on a folder and select "Update Folder Location").
Now, you have your files whereever you want them to be. They are stored properly. It makes sense to consolidate your photos on a single drive if possible, and it makes sense to set things up for ease of backup (i.e. all photos in subfolders under a single parent folder) but other storage schemes are fine if they meet your needs.
    Next ... Organization
This is how you set things up so that you can find a specific photo(s) quickly. I strongly recommend that this be done in Lightroom, using keywords, metadata and collections. I strongly dis-recommend that you do this by moving this folder to that location or folder hierarchy to help you be able to find things. I strongly dis-recommend that you do this by renaming photos or folders. Leave them whereever they are (after you have met your storage needs above), and organize via keywords. Assign keywords and metadata religiously to your photos. Keywords give you much more organizational power than folders, because you can have many many keyworkds assigned to a photo, but a photo can be in only a single folder.
I strongly recommend consolidating things into a single catalog. This will enable you to search for any photo, because you have one catalog. If you have multiple catalogs, and catalog A is open, you cannot search for a photo in catalog B.
Once all of this is complete, your photos are where you want them (storage) on your networked drive, your catalog (singular, not plural) is on your fastest disk (storage) and your photos are completely well organized in Lightroom, enabling you to search for them quickly, using the Lightroom filter bar, the keyword panel, or smart collections.

  • Xp ethernet driver

Right I am new to Mac's and this forum so hello everyone.
My problem is with bootcamp and ive only found one forum entry on the net that points to this isuue so i hope you lot can help me.
I've got Mac OS X 10.6.7 and have decided i also need xp on a partition to run Solidworks for work. I went through the bootcamp setup wizard.
    1) set a partition of 80Gb using NTFS
    2) installed xp pro from my install cd and used my cd key.
3)it booted from that partition and went to the logon screen but is prompting me to activate my copy of xp, not a problem normally when i install to a pc. BUT i cannot connect to the internet as the ethernet drivers are not installed yet so i tried the telephone way but it will not show the ID for registering on the telephone as i have no ethernet driver!
Therefore i am stuck as i cannot access the normal desktop until i have activated and i cannot activate because i cannot load the drivers from the OS X cd. I tried in safe mode but it will not install the bootcamp exe or recognise any of the drivers.
Please help, someone else must have this problem.
Its a Macbook 2.16 dual core running mac os x 10.6.7 and xp pro sp2 on the partition with proper cd and key.
    Many thanks.

Are you now using Boot Camp 3.2 drivers, after installing off OS X DVD 3.0 and upgrading a couple times.
    http://www.apple.com/support/bootcamp
Sometimes even with Apple drivers you still want/need to update audio, ethernet, graphics drivers yourself.
Then add what I think is the best AV -
    Microsoft Security Essentials
There are a number of people running SolidWorks I know from over the years here.

  • Add external ethernet drive to time capsule

    Hi!
Is possible to attach an external ethernet drive (Seagate or Western) to the timecapsule to expand storage space?
    Thanks!
    J

    Hey Bob,
Thanks for your response! I have no need to back up onto the 2nd drive through Time Machine.
Basically the 2nd drive is an offsite back up of an archive, so doesn't even need to be updated.
I was actually looking at purchasing a regular FW drive, but saw the ethernet drives are pretty cheap. The ethernet option will mean it is faster to upload my files, and if plugged into the Time Capsule I was thinking I could access the files remotely if need be. Would that work?
I just wasn't sure if the Time Capsule would immediately recognise the 2nd drive through the ethernet connection. Will there be much (network) tweaking? I'm not too savvy in that regard. I was hoping it would just plug and play like a FW drive, but visible on my network.
    Thanks!
    James

  • Internet doesn't work with Killer Ethernet driver installed! PLEASE HELP!

    Hi guys,
First of all I might as well start off by saying that I recently upgraded my system to a new build, and so bought some new parts. The motherboard I chose was a MSI z87 gd65 gaming and by gosh is it good to look at, my only problem is that when I install the driver of the disc is that the Killer Ethernet driver doesn't allow me to get internet access (but I am connected to my router).
I have reset windows, reinstalled the driver, restarted my pc, made the bios default and it still persists not to work! I am not sure if it doesn't won't to work with windows 8 because I had to boot from the installation cd. I can't update to windows 8.1 either because I don't have the internet connect/access Nd I can't get another driver because of the same reason!
Has anyone else come across this issue?

Remove Killer driver and suite using >>Killer Cleaner<<. After reboot just install pure drivers: https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=174229.0

  • Updating BIOS without floppy drive?

Hi I wish to update my BIOS so I can use my new dual core cpu but it seems incredibly complicated.
Like the title says, I don't have a floppy drive. However I've heard some say this doesn't matter and I can install the new BIOS from the hard drive.
My motherboard: MSI K8N Neo2 Platinum
    The Bios (top one): http://global.msi.com.tw/index.php?func=downloaddetail&type=bios&maincat_no=1&prod_no=587
Does anyone know what I can do?

I gave up and tried inserting my old athlon 64 3500 in and it now works, although sometimes the screen gives no signal so I reset.
However now my ethernet controller is not working so I can't access the net through my router. I've installed the NVIDIA nForce3 System Drivers from http://global.msi.com.tw/index.php?func=downloaddetail&type=driver&maincat_no=1&prod_no=587
as well as getting the Realtek Gigabit Ethernet Drivers off there and installing a 'LAN utility' off it. Couldn't execute anything else with it.
But no luck. My pc recognises the LAN as connected but I can't access my router nor the net. In System it shows my ethernet driver as a question mark.
At the moment I just want to get back online.
p.s.: I was flashing so I get my dual core to work. My bios at the time (never been updated) only saw it as single core.
EDIT: In system I've tried updating the ethernet driver that way but no luck.
"I gave up and tried inserting my old athlon 64 3500 in and it now works, although sometimes the screen gives no signal so I reset."
Try with just one memory stick, also provide details about memory sticks used.
You can try to setup memory voltage in BIOS to 2.7V && re-test.
Also try with another PSU as suggested.
"However now my ethernet controller is not working so I can't access the net through my router. I've installed the NVIDIA nForce3 System Drivers from http://global.msi.com.tw/index.php?func=downloaddetail&type=driver&maincat_no=1&prod_no=587

BIOS update may need OS re-install in some cases.
    Also check BIOS settings and ensure that they are properly configured. {"LOAD BIOS OPTIMIZED DEFAULT" 1st}
