Fake Pull Down Menus (alternative to the real thing)

To anyone who followed my tortuous post re: mouse-over menus ("my crippled site"), my resolution to the problem was to create fake or static pull down menus. I'm sure other people have done similar menus in iWeb.
This is certainly an easier - but no where as usable or effective - alternative to the real thing. Maybe someone looking to implement pull-downs will find value in checking this out.

Please don't tell me you haven't even read the article and
you're not
reading my posts either because it would make this whole

So, the menu works the opposite of what you said actually. It
does *not*
make all links "accessible" and that's why I offer a "plan
B", not just for
keyboard users but also for *people using Internet Explorer
with scripting
disabled*.

these pages,
*how do they access* the sub-menus? Unless you reveal them on
each one of
these main sections pages - as I do - they are *not*
accessible, period.
They do not exist for keyboard users nor for IE users with

*disconnected*
elements.

Don't tell people I need more than one rule, I'm the one who

Also, my stylesheet takes care of styling all lists
horizontaly in case
there is no JS support; and for *each* page (using different
color for each
one), to make sub-menus *accessible*. For sure that does
require more rules,
but it does make these links accessible :)
It's easy to say that a stylesheet is "lighter" if it does
not even do half
of the job. Please do not compare oranges with apples.

Actually, browsercam screenshots would *not* reveal that bug.
If you say you don't have it "anymore" then I take your word

Cawe see who is planning ( using the real time cube ) currently?

I have a real time cube and users are updating through BEx 7 Planning worksheet.
Can i see which user is accessing the worksheet and doing planning?

Go to tcode RSPLSE, third tab 'Lock' and specify the RT cube name. It will show you all the users that are holding locks currently and their lock records. You can also look at the last locking conflict in the next tab.

You can run GarageBand 6.0.5 on your Mac - the version is described here: http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1507
But you cannot download a full version any longer from the AppSTore, the current App Store version is 10.0.2, and that is incompatible with your system. To get a compatible version, buy an iLife '11 installer from Amazon, or check, if your Mac came with bundled applications on an instller disk.

Why is InDesign is using fake small caps instead of the real ones included in the font?

I was trying to use the small caps in Hoefler Text, which I did by hitting the small caps button. Instead of using real small caps (which should be in proportion to the capitals), InDesign created fake small caps by scaling down the capitals (which is disgustingly ugly). I know Hoefler Text includes real small caps because I can see them in the glyphs palette. How do I get InDesign to use the real small caps instead of creating the fake ones?

Just checked the font file. "Hoefler Text" comes courtesy of Mac OS X, pre-installed with your system. It's an OpenType font with TrueType outlines (actually a collection of four styles into one single file), and its typographic features, including the Small Caps charrington42 noticed in the Glyphs panel, are guided not by OpenType features but by Apple's AAT features.
InDesign cannot use AAT features; only Apple's own software can. TextEdit, for example, can access the real small capitals:
You could submit "Please support AAT" to Adobe using the Feature Request form -- I don't see anything against it. Or perhaps just the fact that it's only applicable to a small amount of fonts, and on Mac OS X only.

Background:
TLF is making this possible by implementing a TLFTextField class. It is a Sprite that uses TLF to implement the same properties and methods as the legacy TextField class in the Player. Thanks to the createInFontContext() bottleneck method in UIComponent, it can be used by a properly-written Halo component (such as those in Flex 3) without any modifications to the component.
Note: Text should render similarly -- but is unlikely to render identically -- when a component uses TLFTextField vs. TextField. The width and height may be different, affecting layout; text could wrap differently; etc. This is a fact-of-life based on the fact that TLF/FTE and TextField are completely different text engines.
Whether a Halo component uses TLF or not to render text will be determined in Flex 4 by a new style, textFieldClass. (Gumbo components always use TLF.)
TLFTextField is currently only partially implemented. It does not yet support scrolling, selection, editing, multiple formats, or htmlText. Therefore it can only be used for simple display text, such as a Button label.
Details:
The TextStyles.as bucket 'o text styles now includes a non-inheriting textFieldClass style. It can be set to either mx.core.UITextField or mx.core.UITLFTextField. These are the Flex framework's wrapper classes around the lower-level classes flash.text.TextField (in the Player) and its TLF-based workalike, flashx.textLayout.controls.TLFTextField.
The global selector in defaults.css currently sets it to mx.core.UITextField using a ClassReference directive. For the time being, all Halo components will continue to use the "real" TextField.
The new UITLFTextField is a copy of UITextField, except that it extends TLFTextField instead of TextField. This class has been added to FrameworkClasses.as because no classes in framework.swc have a dependency on it. It will get soft-linked into applcations via the textFieldClass style.
The TLFTextField class currently lives in a fourth TLF SWC, textLayout_textField.swc. This SWC has been added to various build scripts. The external-library-path for building framework.swc now includes all four TLF SWCs, because UITLFTextField can't be compiled and linked without them. However, since they are external they aren't linked into framework.swc.
Properly-written Halo UIComponents access their text fields only through the IUITextField interface, and they create text fields like this:
textField = IUITextField(createInFontContext(UITextField));
(The reason for using createInFontContext() is to support embedded fonts that are embedded in a different SWF.)
The createInFontContext() method of UIComponent has been modified to use the textFieldClass style to determine whether to create a UITextField or a UITLFTextField.
With these changes, you can now write code like
to get two Buttons, the first of which uses UITextField (because this is the value of textFieldClass in the global selector) and the second of which uses UITLFTextField. They look very similar, which is good!
Currently, both Buttons are being measured by using an offscreen TextField. A subsequent checkin will make components rendering using UITLFTextField measure themselves using an offscreen TLFTextField so that measurement and rendering are consistent.

Use the new functionality "multiple page size" in an indesign book

I've creating an indesign book, in wich one chapter has a different (bigger /A3) page size. Indesign creates the book in pdf using the bigger page size, and do not use the real page size of every chapters. Why?

How to verify RTSJ use linux real time kernel?

Hi,
I'm complete newbie into this area and I'm trying out the RTSJ 2.1 beta Linux. I'm using this on Ubuntu with the linux real time kernel. Is there anyway to find out whether the real time kernel is being actually used or in other words is there a way to find out whether RTSJ works fine with the real time kernel on Ubuntu? I see that the programs get compiled and run irrespective of whether I use the real time kernel or the generic kernel.

Hi,
I would assume, like other distributions, that you either boot the real-time kernel or you don't. uname should show you what you are running, but you'd have to ask the Ubuntu folk what you should see for the RT kernel.
To see if you are benefiting from real-time, you need to run a RTSJ app that tracks deadline misses or measures latency/jitter. Try it on the non-real-time kernel and the real-time one and see what you get. Some of the examples in the "Getting Started" guide should be usable for these purposes.

It has messed up my being able to work on Facebook. It stops me from using the posting process and other things.

I am unable to using the posting feature on Facebook to share my comments. I also cannot "like" a feed or "comment" on a feed. It has also stopped me from accepting gifts sent to me, and I cannot message anyone.
Someone suggested that Firefox is blocking the pop-ups on Facebook , which is why I cannot use those features.
I also cannot use my media programs such as Lexmark Productivity Studio, HP media center, Windows media Center. It won't let me load pic from my camera into my computer.
All this is happening since I switched from IE to Firefox as my browser and recently to Firefox Beta. I like the speed of FF but not happy about certain features.
I am NOT a techno-nerd or whatever, and I can't afford to pay someone to fix things for me. However, I am a very good learner, as I am/was a grade school teacher.

All depends on what you're starting with and what you're exporting to. If you are exporting a self contained file using the sequences current settings then the export should happen pretty quickly. (length of the sequence and whether it has been rendered being the only real factors) Exporting a non self contained reference file should take even less time.
If you are converting your sequence on export then it will of course take longer depending on how much you are changing or compressing the file. And if you're working with HDV things can slow down dramatically as everything has to be conformed to i-frame.
