Re: Viewing web site

Hi Nadia
Thankyou so much for your very valuable help.. I never dreamt
in my wildest
dream someone would go to that trouble for me. I really do
appreciate it.
I think I have learned more from your file in the last hour
than the last 3
weeks of playing with it myself! I now need to get into how
you did some of
them!
I have completed what you suggested. The real picture in the
header table
will have a couple of photos and text however I have created
a gif file with
a photo on the left and one on the right.
When I view it in a smaller resolution I lose the photo on
the right.
I would be very grateful Nadia if you would go one step
further for me and
let me know how would you handle it ?
Once again thankyou very much for you help Nadia
Regards
Helen

No problems Helen, really glad to help and I've so happy that
you are
learning along the way.
The problem with your header iimage that you have it at a
width of 993px, so
if you drop the window size to less than that it won't work
as a fluid
layout. What you need to do is create a background image of
that greenish
gradient only and use it as a repeating image across that
table...
repeat-x; and then maybe insert another couple of cells in
that talbe and
put the actual house and logo graphics into those cells. that
way, there
won't be any 'restrictions' on that table (being an image set
at a certain
width) and the page will expand and shrink like it should.
I hope that helps, I can't really do a demo for you as it's
rather late here
and I'm just about ready to close for the night. Post back if
you are
having problems, and I'm sure someone will be along to help
while I'm
catching up on some sleep :-)

  • Viewing web sites with Adobe Flash contents

How can I view web sites with adobe Flash player plugin for safari on iPad?

    Sorry, you can't.
    Thoughts on Flash
But a lot of sites are converting to HTML5 and there are other options.
Examples from Steve's link above, "YouTube, with an estimated 40% of the web’s video, shines in an app bundled on all Apple mobile devices, with the iPad offering perhaps the best YouTube discovery and viewing experience ever. Add to this video from Vimeo, Netflix, Facebook, ABC, CBS, CNN, MSNBC, Fox News, ESPN, NPR, Time, The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, Sports Illustrated, People, National Geographic, and many, many others."

How do I get firefox to change the color of recently viewed web sites? Mac OS 10.6.8 Latest Firefox Update

It worked. It is not where it should be by my logic, but I didn't write the app. I cannot see why a history thing should be under privacy, but it is working and I thank you.

  • Strange problem viewing web sites.

    Hi everybody,
I am having a strange problem viewing web sites. There are certain web sites that when viewed on my mac certain content that shows up on other computers (mac and pc) does not seem to show up on my mac. At first I thought it was a safari problem and maybe I installed a filter or some thing but regardless what browser I use, the content is not there. For instance: Spinepodium.com one of the sites I am building - I just recently added Google Adsense to the page. When I view the page on other computers (mac and pc) the ads show up just fine. However on my mac it is as if the code is just not there. I have noticed similar things on other pages as well.
    Any help would be great.

Video plays for me on the site you posted.
As I suggested, install the Flip4Mac plug-in. After installing, open the preference file via System Preferences>Flip4Mac. On the Plug-in panel, 1st and 3rd boxes are checked. On the Movies panel, 1st box is checked.
Just in case, go to the Utilities folder>Disk Utility and "repair permissions" via the First Aid panel (click on your HD on the left of the window, "repair permissions" will appear on the right. Restart the computer. Try the video in Safari.

Try the Firefox SafeMode. <br />
    ''A troubleshooting mode, which disables most Add-ons.'' <br />
''(If you're not using it, switch to the Default Theme.)''
    # You can open the Firefox 4.0 SafeMode by holding the '''Shft''' key when you use the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut.
    # Or use the Help menu item, click on '''Restart with Add-ons Disabled...''' while Firefox is running. <br />
''To exit the Firefox Safe Mode, just close Firefox and wait a few seconds before using the Firefox shortcut (without the Shft key) to open it again.''
If it is good in the Firefox SafeMode, your problem is probably caused by an extension, and you need to figure out which one. <br />

  • I want to view web sites in more than one open window instead of tabs. How do I change the settings to do that?

I want to have more than one window open with firefox at the same time instead of having multiple web sites up using tabs. but every time I try to do this a tab opens instead. I am using windows 7.

You can copy a bookmark from one folder and paste it in another folder to have a copy in more than one folder.

  • USB to VGA? or how view web sites greater than 800x600?

My young children have a couple of hand-me-down iBook G3 clamshells. They're loaded with the newest version of OS X that they can handle (can't remember what that is off the top of my head - 10.3?) They're working great for how they're needed with one exception. Some modern web sites are configured to display a page that is larger than 800x600 AND are configured to disable the browser's scroll bars, so it's impossible to navigate to the parts of the web page that are not visible within the 800x600 resolution native to these laptops.
My first thought was to override the web site and show the scroll bars, but I haven't been able to figure out how to do that. That may be the best way to approach my problem if anyone can tell me how to do that.
My second approach was to look at USB-to-VGA adapters and attach an external monitor (I have an unused one collecting dust). But every such adapter I've looked at lists various versions of the Windows OS as a requirement. Are there any USB-to-VGA adapters out there that have been tested and proven to be compatible with Macs?

You can try Opera Webbrowser (Minimum OSX 10.3)
    http://www.opera.com/download/index.dml?platform=mac
Opera allows to set the global Zoom to 80% which looks like 1024x768
Just an idea for VGA output: You will need a firewire Clamshell which allows you to hook the iBook to a TV with a special cable
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TA27234?viewlocale=en_US
Buy a composite-to-vga converter. But i don't know if it will work and the result will be worth the money.

  • My expecthat there would be no ads, vulgar picture ads, when viewing web sites. How do I remedy this? Thank you.

I opened the web site to a local newspaper and there was a ad, with a all hanging out lady and I am seeing this and so is my 9 and 6 year old. Someone who I know that uses Firefox told me he doesn't deal with the ads. So we are now trying out Firefox upon his recommendation but I am not sure what to do to eliminate ads.

You should not be getting any ads using Firefox unless the website specifically put the ads on there.
You can scan your computer for malware and get an addon: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/adblock-edge/?src=ss
Sometimes a problem with Firefox may be a result of malware installed on your computer, that you may not be aware of.
You can try these free programs to scan for malware, which work with your existing antivirus software:
    * [http://www.microsoft.com/security/scanner/default.aspx Microsoft Safety Scanner]
    * [http://www.malwarebytes.org/products/malwarebytes_free/ MalwareBytes' Anti-Malware]
    * [http://support.kaspersky.com/faq/?qid=208283363 TDSSKiller - AntiRootkit Utility]
[http://windows.microsoft.com/MSE Microsoft Security Essentials] is a good permanent antivirus for Windows 7/Vista/XP if you don't already have one.
Further information can be found in the [[Troubleshoot Firefox issues caused by malware]] article.

  • Viewing web site

    Hi All
I am experimenting with different colours and page designs
    with a client but
the site comes up using probably two thirds of the screen on
    their PC.
They can view other websites without a problem.
We can view it ok here on several PCs
They have a new PC with Windows XP not sure about explorer
    but probably 7
and I think they have a 19inch screen.
    The address is www.hitechdemo.net
Could I please have some views on this problem and if it can
    be fixed does
anyone know how ? We cannot go forward until this problem is
    out of the way.
    Regards
    Helen

I'm not exactly sure what you are seeing as a problem? Can
    they *not* see
all of the web page and are only seeing a portion of it, or
    is it the fact
that it is sitting on the left side of the screen with empty
    real estate on
the right (if they have a larger monitor with window open at
    full screen?)
I viewed the page in FFox, IE6 and IE7 and the page was left
    aligned and no
    problems viewing the whole page.
Only problem I see is on the
    http://www.hitechdemo.net/Houses.html
    page,
where the text (graphic) in the footer is being repeated
    twice in Firefox
    and IE.
Also, you have a table width declared:
    <table width="993" height="465" border="2"
    bordercolor="#006600">
Is that what you intended? Or did you want a 'fluid' design.
    Also,
bordercolor is decrepated and shouldn't be used. You should
    define the
    table border via css.
    table {border: 2px solid #006600}
That will look much cleaner across browsers.
PS: You also need to define a color for your page background,
    for the
header and for the middle content area, I'm seeing my
    browsers' default hot
pink which I don't believe you want :-) I'm not sure what
    color it's
supposed to be... white I'm guessing.... so you need to add
background-color: white to the body tag.
If I've got it all wrong, please explain further what exactly
    you have
    having a problem with :-)

  • Problem with viewing web site- feedback needed

I have a friend who had his site redesigned and integrated with Paypal recently.
He is a Windows user and I am a Mac user.
For some reason I am unable to view the blue Buy Now buttons on his site and if i keep trying long enough the browser will suddenly tell me that the site server cannot be found.
I was told by paypal that it was a cookie problem but i completly cleared out everything and it still does not work.
I have tried both IE and Firefox. IE will work for me sometimes, but once the problem begin happening in Firefox then IE stops working also.
I have also tried using my PC and if i use it before the Mac, i can see it fine but if the Mac starts messing things up i will no longer be able to view it on my PC. I called a friend while having this problem and he said he could see it fine on his PC (not Mac).
I am beginning to think that it is a wireless network problem since i have tried everything else i can think of.
Could some of you please view this page and just let me know if you have any problem seeing the two top Buy Now buttons?
Please also let me know what browsers you used...
The BUY NOW buttons in question should be just below the Download buttons...
Please give me some feedback. This will help me decide if it is a local issue or not.
    URL for the page is:
    http://www.butlerofficepro.com/products.html
Thanks, this would be a great help to my diagnosis 8-)

    Works fine here in Safari.
I think you have a Router problem, or a Modem with a Broadcom Chipset in it.

  • Safari on iPhone 4 doesn't render web sites correctly, white rectangle hides most of web site view

I started having a problem with Safari on the second day of using my iPhone.
Since today, Safari will not render any web site correctly anymore, there is always a white rectangle hiding most of the web site view, web site browsing is now impossible, only a small area on the top and right remains visible.
How can this be fixed ?

Well, try restarting your phone, if that doesn't help, restore it with iTunes.

  • Bank statement will not view/open. can view pages of bank web site fine

i am logged into one of my bank web sites... trying to view recent statement. i click their "view" button.. and nothing happens.
I'm able to view statements in all of our other bank web sites.
I called the bank.. they tested on their end. when logged in as me they are able to view statement. they suggested it may be my browser.
    thank you

One option might be to change the way PDFs are opened from opening in a tab to launching outside the browser in Adobe Reader or Adobe Acrobat. To change this setting:
    Tools menu > Options > Applications<br>
(''If necessary, tap the Alt key to display the classic menu bar so you can access the Tools menu'')
In the search box, type '''pdf''' and pause while Firefox filters the list. Use the drop-down on the right to change the action, for example, to Always Ask which presents the Open/Save/Cancel dialog.

  • Custom column in a list view web part for a multilingual site does not take on custom language labels. Stays in default language.

    Hello all,
I have what so far appears to be a fairly unique problem.  We are running a multilingual SharePoint 2010 environment with English as the default language and French as the secondary.  We have setup the sites in a variance relationship, but the
issue I am discussing happens outside of a variant as well.
We have created a library outside the variant (but within the collection) that the two sites must share.  A list view web part was created via Designer to add to each site to provide a quick view into the list.  If we are in the libary and switch
to French, then update the column label it will remember the setting (because of the resource file) and maintain it as the language is flipped back and forth.  Where it doesn't work is as a web part in a variant or where the language is different.
If the language is different, the out of the box columns work find, but the custom columns (all site columns not library\list columns) remain as the english label.  It doesn't matter if within a variant or outside with the browser language changed.
It always reverts back to English.  It's like it isn't using the same resource file that was used in the list itself.
I created a custom view and modified it with xslt as per
http://sharepoint.stackexchange.com/questions/50004/how-to-change-column-title-for-a-view-but-not-modify-the-list but this only worked within the list and did not occur in the list view either.
I can't be the first that has come across it, either I am not performing my searches properly, no one has ever documented a fix for this or this is something we just can't fix with OOTB tools.  That's the other thing, the solution has to be accomplised
OOTB or with minor client side changes.  I can't fire up Visual Studio because they are piloting Office 365 and have put a "No custom code" mandate on for migration.
    Thank you all in advance.

Ok, I have come up with a solution.  I edited the XSLT for the web part on the page.  I did the following:
    1.    Create the variants in the Site Ccollection
    2.    Create the library outside of the variants.
    3.    Add all the columns you require for the library.  It is very important all the columns are there before you move on.
    4.    Create a French and English view.
    5.    Create the list view web part via designer.
    6.    Add the list view web part to each site selecting the appropriate view to use.
    7.      Edit the page in SharePoint Designer 2010.
    8.      Place cursor in the column you wish to modify.
    9.      Click Design in the List View Tools on the ribbon.
    10.     Then click Customize XSLT and select Customize Item.  Select this option otherwise you will generate a **LOT** of unnecessary XSL code.
    11.     You are looking for a piece that resembles the following:
            <xsl:with-param name="fieldtitle">
              <xsl:value-of select="@DisplayName"/>
            </xsl:with-param>
    12.      Modify it by typing in the actual column name you want.  You should end up with something like this:
            <xsl:with-param name="fieldtitle">
              New Column Name.
            </xsl:with-param>
    13.      Now, for this page only, the column will be renamed.
    There are some caveats:
    1.    Doesn’t appear to work in a publishing portal.  I think this has to do with how SP stores the pages in this case.  In a publishing portal you can only modify the page layout which won’t work as we need to modify the content.
    2.    If you add another column, you will need to repeat the XSLT modification
Anyways, I hope this helps out any others with the same issue or need as I had.

  • Can no longer view videos on Apple web site

I'd like to watch the new iPad videos on Apple's web site but my iMac no longer loads them. I can view You Tube videos, movies, Quicktime etc. But on the Apple web site the video never loads. Any ideas why this might be? OSX 10.7.3 3.06 GHz Core Duo, 4G RAM.

The following only applies to those running Tiger or Leopard:
If you are experiencing trouble viewing QuickTime movies with QuickTime Player or the QuickTime browser-plug-in follow the steps in the link below to ensure that QuickTime is properly installed on your Mac
    http://www.apple.com/quicktime/troubleshooting/
If you having problems watching WWDC Keynotes, tutorials or Trailers on the Apple website, check your Quicktime Player 7 settings in System Preferences:
Under Streaming, set for Automatic, enable Instant On and Play Immediately.
Under Advanced, click Mime Settings and ensure that Streaming (both kinds) are enabled.
Note that if you are running Snow Leopard you should be using Quicktime Player 7 and not Quicktime 10. Snow Leopard does not have a QuickTime System Preference pane. No MIME Settings options. No streaming settings. If a User has migrated from 10.5.8 then those settings have moved over (but no changes can be made). QuickTime Player 7 is in your Applications/Utilities folder (if you've got it installed). If not you can install it from the Snow Leopard DVD (Optional Installs).
