My environment is Vista with VS 2008 Pro with CR and I'm just learning VB and CR so I'm not very proficient yet.
The situation I am trying to correct is that VS hangs whenever I try to add a Formula Field to a report. Microsoft has directed me to get setup help from BusinessObjects.
I've tried to install SP1 and SP2 but get the following BusinessObjects XI 3.0 Error on each:
"The upgrade cannot be install by the Windows Installer service because the program to be upgraded may be missing, or the upgrade may update a different version of the program. Verify that the program to be upgraded exists on your computer and that you have the correct upgrade."
I hope this is the right forum to get this resolved. Any help you could provide would be greatly appreciated. I'm frustrated and falling behind because of this.

As for your issue, installing the Service Packs depends which version of Crystal Reports you are using. It sounds like you are probably using the version of Crystal Reports that comes with .NET 2008, which is version 10.5, is that correct?
If so, the service pack for that version is:

The SMC is responsible for controlling various system functions. None of your data will be deleted by resetting the SMC.

Plug in the MagSafe power adapter into a power source and then connect it to your Mac if you have not already done so.
On the built-in keyboard, press the (left side) Shift (⇧), Control (⌃), and Option (⌥) keys and the Power Button at the same time.

IPhoto freezes whenever I try to add faces...

I am running the latest version of iPhoto (iLife 11, all updates, etc.) on 10.6.7. I have a top of the line MacBook Pro i7 (purchased in March 2011) with 8 GB RAM and 512 SSD. For whatever reason whenever I try to add faces to my photos (either confirm or define a face or add a face) iPhoto decides to freeze up and spins the beach ball forever. I go to Force Quit, iPhoto is "Not Responding" and I have to force quit iPhoto. I can do this 5 times in a row, same thing every time.
Is anyone else experiencing this? It's REALLY annoying and I'm worried that every time I force quit iPhoto I'm corrupting a file or the database, etc.
Any help would be appreciated!

Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Rebuild iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup.
If that fails:
Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one. .

Welcome to the Apple Community.
In order to change your Apple ID or password for your iCloud account on your iOS device, you need to delete the account from your iOS device first, then add it back using your updated details. (Settings > iCloud, scroll down and hit "Delete Account")
Providing you are simply updating your existing details and not changing to another account, when you delete your account, all the data that is synced with iCloud will also be deleted from the device (but not from iCloud), but will be synced back to your device when you login again.
In order to change your Apple ID or password for your iCloud account on your computer, you need to sign out of the account from your computer first, then sign back in using your updated details. (System Preferences > iCloud, click the sign out button)
In order to change your Apple ID or password for your iTunes account on your iOS device, you need to sign out from your iOS device first, then sign back in using your updated details. (Settings > iTunes & App store, scroll down and tap your ID)
If you are using iMessages or FaceTime, you will also need to log out and into your ID there too.

My mac hangs whenever I try to upload a file

Hello everyone. Do anyone have any idea of how I have to fix this?
I do not have a problem with uploading file or image to the internet. Since last week, I am not able to upload anything to the internet. My mac would hang( you have to force quit the application and restart) whenever I try to upload a file.
Please can you guys help me here. I need my mac to submit my coursework. : (

You can authorise your account via the Store drop-down menu at the top of the iTunes screen - if you have iTunes11 then control-B should get the menus to show.

Robohelp hangs when I try to add baggage files to projects

I have two RoboHelp projects using source control (Visual Studio/Team Foundation Server) in Robohelp HTML version 8. Both service packs are installed.
When I right click the Baggage Files folder and select 'Add to baggage files' the program hangs, and I have to crash out of it. This started happening in both projects at the same time, possibly as a result of me adding image files to the baggage files folder. I've reverted to the project as it was before I made these changes, but the problem persists.
I've started a new test project, not connected to version control, and Robohelp hangs in exactly the same way when I try to
Is there anything you could recommend? I'd be extremely grateful for any ideas. I searched the forum and couldn't find any references to anything like this issue.
Would you recommend resintalling Robohelp, for instance?

It's a good thought, but I've verified that the rhbag.apj file isn't set to read only. In fact, I tried editing it after the problem started in an attempt to add baggae files manually. That didn't work (I was able to trick Robohelp but not the server...).
Do you have any other suggestions?

Installed ITunes 8 - entire music library lost - hangs if I try to add fold

I just installed iTunes 8 after having been prompted to do so.
When I first opened it the app started to render my album covers, and then stopped.
I was curious about the genius feature, so I enabled that, and it said it was active, but then nothing showed in my music library at all -- no covers, not a single track.
I tried re-adding the folder where I store my music, I get a processing message, but then it just hangs.
I ended the task, tried adding a single song -- that song added successfully, so I added one more -- also OK, and they could play. So I tried adding the whole folder again - hangs.
End task again.
Re-open - the songs I added manually aren't there anymore. Every time I add a song, it shows temporarily, then when I exit and go back in the whole list is erased again.
At the file system level the folder where it stores all the info about music is COMPLETELY EMPTY: \\server\users\myusername\my documents\my music\itunes\itunes music\
That folder used to have hundreds of folders and files? What the heck happened? Where are my files?
Is this a bug or just some weird issue on the x64 version of Vista that happens when you have my documents folder re-direction turned on? This wasn't a problem with v7.x

Copying the old iTunes Library (from the "Previous iTunes Libraries" folder) didn't work for me. iTunes went through its typical "Updating iTunes Library" routine the next time I launched, and any attempt to add a folder of files to my library still returns Error 13014.

Mail hangs whenever I try to open it.

I've been using Mail for a couple of years with no trouble, but now I can't launch it. When I try to launch, my most recent e-mails start popping up. After about 20 of them open, the program hangs and I have to force quit.
Has anyone experienced this? Does anyone know what I need to do?

If that didn't work, you'll have to re-create the preferences file.
Verify/repair your disk first (not just permissions), as described here:

After having fixed all filesystem issues, if any, try this:
1. Quit Mail if it's running.
2. Make a backup copy of the ~/Library/Mail folder, just in case something goes wrong. You can do this in the Finder by dragging the folder to the Desktop while holding the Option (Alt) key down, for example. This is where all your mail is stored.
3. In the Finder, go to ~/Library/Preferences/. Locate com.apple.mail.plist and move it to the Desktop (to be deleted if this fixes the problem).
You'll have to set up your non-Mac accounts from scratch all over again. If given the option to import existing mailboxes or something like that, don't. Just enter the account information and Mail will automagically rediscover the data in ~/Library/Mail/ when done.
You'll also have to re-configure most of your settings in Mail > Preferences. For spam-related security reasons, the first thing you should do is go to Preferences > Viewing and disable Display remote images in HTML messages if it's enabled.
Note: For those not familiarized with the ~/ notation, it refers to the user's home folder. You can easily locate any of the folders referred to in this post by copying the file path here, doing Go > Go to Folder in the Finder, and pasting the file path there.

I'm getting a "hang" whenever I try to download videos

I notice this mostly when on Facebook---but every time I try to view a video, the program hangs. Not sure if the below Crash ID pertains to this or not...it was just the most recent.

getting something similar after having switched over to iTunes to attempt to download iOS 6.... wasnt working via WiFi for me.
No idea what's going on... grrrr

System hangs up when trying to add a folder in "shared folders"

I'm able to access all my files through a PC when I use the IP of my mac. (After I enable SMB). But instead of giving access to all folders, I would like to share only a couple of them. And whenever I try to add the required folder(s) the MAC hangs up (The menu bar disappears, right click doesn't work.finder doesn't open when clicked). And I have to hard shut down it. Happens everytime I try to add a folder.

Investigate whether the target topic is actually in the project when you look using Windows Explorer. If these broken links are attributable to the folder bug, then right clicking and selecting Restore does fix the problem. I think there is more to the problem in this case.

IWeb freezes every time I try to add media

I have used iWeb before without any problems, but whenever I try to add media in the pages, iweb freezes. Normally, I have to force restart my computer. Any ideas?

Error box when I try and add songs

whenever I try to add new songs to my Ipod shuffle... a box comes up saying, "Ipod cannot be read or written to" and it won't add or delete any new songs. What should I do?

Tried to restore, but it doesn't work : I get another error box from iTunes ("unknown error (1418)").
So I cannot restore my brand new Shuffle...

4) Click on plus icon near 'add new adress' field

Actual result: 'Contacts' applcation unexpectedly close, app crash

The reset link for the security question will send the email to your rescue email account : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5312 - that is the email account that you are checking, and you've checked the spam folder on it as well as the inbox, and tried clicking the reset link again ?
If you aren't receivineg the email then you will need to contact Support in your country to get the questions reset.
