Re: What happened this morning, albeit briefly?

The same thing happened to me, only with apple equipment. Imac wouldn't open pages, nor my iphone and then as if by magice everything started working again, I live in Worcestershire, could it be a localised problem?

  • What happened this morning, albeit briefly?

Being a newbie to BT BB, since July 12th I wondered what happened this morning when I was on the interne,t when suddenly I could no longer access any websites. My wireless connection was still there or so I thought but then noticed a yellow exclamation mark over my taskbar's connectionsymbol and when I opened the network centre saw that there was a red cross between my hub's icon and the internet's one.
I went into the other room where the hub is and all three lights were on, blue and stable. I restarted the hub and then in fact turned it off and on again and after a few minutes all lights were blue again and I had WiFi connection. During the period it was not working I also tried my smartphone to connect and this, similarly, couldn't find a WiFi signal.
    Solved!

  • LG Revere "What happened this day"...can it be disabled?

My wife has an LG Revere without data, since she doesn't use it.  Every day (or so), she'll get a pop-up of "What happened this day" that she can look at if she wants.
    She doesn't want it.
Is there any way to disable/remove this?

    @bigjuancrd
It's very annoying to receive a daily message or a pop up that you don't want on your device. Let's get this removed quickly.
Was this something that was downloaded to the device from the Media Center? Please check Menu>Media Center>Browse & Download. Do you see any applications about history?
It also may be a premium text message that has been signed up on the device. Does it comes in under messaging> Inbox? If so please reply with "STOP".
Let me know how that message shows up, so we can get this removed.
    Thank you

  • Something strange happened this morning, Have I been hacked?

Here we go, This morning i woke up by checking safari browser on my iphone. I saw that somehow Yahoo Search has been searching for my domicile? A little scary. Becasue last night i cleared all my history and closed the phone and i wake up to this. Well, I have not jailbreak my phone and its about 2 month old. Are the a risk that my iphone 4 has been hacked? (My yahoo account got hacked lately)

If your phone is not jailbroken, it is not hacked...you have nothing to worry about. There is no way to hack a non-jailbroken iPhone.
Your Yahoo account may have been hacked, but not your phone.

  • TS1398 Despite trying the recommended options listed above, my Ipad will not connect to our home Wi-Fi. The problem has  only started happening this morning. The ipad recognises the wi-fi network but will not connect.

Despite trying the recommended trouble shooting options, my I pad will not connect to our home Wi-Fi network. The problem only started occurring this morning, and although it will recognise the Wi-Fi network, it will not connect.
Any other options I can try????

Try rebooting the router. Just pull the power for a few seconds. No settings are lost.

  • When I touch the sift key a noise is made and sometimes it will capitalize my letter and sometimes it will capitalize all the letters.  This just started happening this morning after upgrading last night.

When I try to use the sift key to capitalize a letter if makes a sift type noise.  If I hold it down too long it makes the sift noise 3 times and then it doesn't capitalize but leaves the letter in lower form, ex: i instead of I.  This just started this morning after downloading mountain lion last night.  I had snow leopard previously.  How do I turn this off?

Take your MBP to your local AS or AASP.  Diagnostic testing is FREE!  However, the repairs will be your responsibility as Apple warranty does not cover accidental damage.  If you do decide to get your MBP repaired, send the bill to your ex-boyfriend.
My mom thinks that it's my fault somehow because it got kicked off my bed a long time ago, but other then that I haven't done anything to it.
    Mom is always right!

  • Some strange things happened this morning.

    Hi,
just wanted to ask if anybody expirienced comparable things in the last time:
Yesterday i hat no /bin/shutdown, so i couldnt shutdown... it was like *gone*. So i killed my PC the hard way. Today i was booting again, and the nvidia module couldn't be loaded for some reason... so i had to remove and reinstall it. Then, my centerim was gone, totally! Reinstalled it - no problems. Whats up with me?

/ isnt full, there is like 4gb free space...
and i made a mistake, /sbin/shutdown was there, but when i typed "shutdown -h now" it says that "shutdown" is an unknown command. (i just had that error again!). root uses bash as default shell... it didnt work in tty, it didnt work in urxvt, this time i typed /sbin/shutdown -h now and that worked... but its still not like it should be. And it doesnt explain the random corruption of packages...
    EDIT:
Same problem with any other files out of /sbin...  the strange thing is, in /etc/profile, $PATH looks like this:
    /bin:/usr/bin:/sbin:/usr/sbin:/usr/X11R6/bin:/opt/bin:/home/jan/bin:/usr/local/bin
    but echo $PATH gives me:
    ./:/bin:/usr/bin:/usr/local/bin:/usr/bin

  • Why is Time Warner Cable webmail now a gray triangle unsecure site? It was fine last night; just happened this morning. TWC was no help.

Getting gray triangle warning on webmail.maine.rr.com; other sites I use are secure. Is this a Mozilla issue or TWC?

By the way, the gray ! triangle indicates that although the main page was loaded over a secure connection, some content in the page, typically an image, was loaded over a regular connection.
Do you notice any unusual content in the page? Sometimes a bad add-on will insert extra ads into a page and can trigger the mixed content warning. To investigate a possible bad add-on, here is the process I suggest:
    (1) Open the Windows '''Control Panel''', Uninstall a Program. After the list loads, click the "Installed on" column heading to group the infections, I mean, additions, by date. This can help in smoking out undisclosed bundle items that snuck in with some software you agreed to install. Take out as much trash as possible here.
    (2) Open Firefox's '''Add-ons page''' using either:
    * Ctrl+Shift+a
    * "3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons
In the left column, click '''Plugins'''. Set nonessential and unrecognized plugins to "Never Activate".
In the left column, click '''Extensions'''. Then, if in doubt, disable (or Remove, if possible) unrecognized and unwanted extensions.
Often a link will appear above at least one disabled extension to restart Firefox. You can complete your work on the tab and click one of the links as the last step.
    Any improvement?
    (3) You can search for remaining issues with the '''scanning/cleaning tools''' listed in our support article: [[Troubleshoot Firefox issues caused by malware]]. These on-demand scanners are free and take considerable time to run. If they finish quickly and especially if they require payment, you may have a serious infection. I suggest the specialized forums listed in the article in that case.

  • Panic.log - What is this?

I was looking at my Console logs and found this panic.log shown below. I had walked away from my iBook G4 running 10.3.9 and when I came back everything was dark: not sleeping and not "display off"
I pressed the power switch and it rebooted OK. I went to Console to see if there were any hints. There was a panic.log file:

    Hi Roberto,
    > Don't want to leave this question just hanging...
... but you did. You haven't added any new information. You won't learn any more about the panic from the panic log alone. William is by far the best at reading panic logs of anyone ever to have graced this list. He has actually contributed code to Darwin's kernel. I was thrilled that he posted on this thread because he is probably familiar with the code that throws a Machine Check error. He has indicated the it probably came from your USB driver or the memory controller.
You should be able to test your RAM with the hardware test disk that came with your computer. If that test shows no problems then you've probably connected a device to your computer via USB that is misbehaving. If a panic occurs every time you plug in a particular device then the culprit is obvious but if the panic hasn't reoccurred then it's unlikely that you'll ever find out exactly what happen this time.

My wife's ipod nano was plugged into the machine overnight.
When she went running with it, there were no songs on it.  She checked the computer and was horrified to see that the playlists had disappeared and most of the songs had disappeared.
    QUESTIONS:
    1. What could it be?
    2. How can I fix it?

It boggles the mind.  The Verizon store on L Street downtown Washington, D.C. cannot access my Verizon account.  They can only sell cellphones then it's up to me to contact Verizon on my own to get the hook up. I even asked "Are you Verizon employes?  Is this a vendor store or is it really a Verizon owned and operated store?"  The answer "Yes, we are Verizon employes, yes this is a Verizon owned and operated store" ...
Yes, it indeed boggles the mind.  I'm of course referring to the fact that your post concerns Verizon Wireless products and services.  This forum is dedicated exclusively to Verizon Communications services.   As you probably know, Verizon Wireless and Verizon Communications operate as separate companies.
If you need help for a Verizon wireless product or service, it's best to direct questions to the Verizon Wireless forums.  You can reach them by clicking on "Wireless" (either here or at the top of the page).
Good luck and I sincerely hope you get your issue resolved.

  • My Firefox updated this morning. What happened to my In-Private browsing in the Menu Bar? it's gone!

My Firefox updated this morning. What happened to my In-Private browsing in the Menu Bar? it's gone!

Yes, they made it able to start a "private Window"...
    But does it WORK?
I noticed that in v20, Firefox send cookies that were set before the "private Window" was opened.
    This means NO PRIVACY !!!
A site you visit in your "New Private Window" will ID you by the cookies it has set in the past.
Privacy is gone... bye bye ...
Of course one can manually delete the cookies for a certain domain.... but why would i want to go through all this work...
    I hope it's fixed.
And if it's not fixed.. it will be bye bye Firefox ... terrible choice.

  • This morning I cannot open the mail Icon. It worked last night. What happened?

This morning I cannot open the mail Icon. It worked last night.

I'd first recommend restarting your computer before taking the steps below.
Click the Finder icon on the left side of the Dock to open a new Finder window (if no new window appears, select New Finder Window from Finder's File menu).
Select Applications from the left sidebar.
Locate Mail inside of Applications and double-click the icon to launch Mail.
If this doesn't work, could you provide some more information as to how you're opening the application and what you're seeing?
