When I click gadgets either by right clicking desktop or under control panel, absolutely nothing happens! I have read the forums for hours and tried many things but doesn't seem to be any solution.
I have windows 8.1 64 bit. I just tried uninstalling gadgets but I don't think that will work as I've tried it before.

Where did you get the Gadgets? As I known, there is no official version of gadgets in Windows 8 and 8.1.
I'm not sure why your gadgets doesn't work since it wasn't on behalf of Microsoft/Windows, maybe the incompatible issue or permission issue.
You can try to install it under compatible mode and run it as administrator.
To better solve your issue, you should contact the provider support to know whether this app is compatible with Windows 8.

Have you tried: click Firefox button > New Tab > New Window '''''OR''''' CTRL+N '''''OR''''' File > New Window (if using the Menu Bar)
Once open, Firefox locks the Profile that is in use and you can not open another window with that Firefox version and Profile combination using the Windows Desktop icon or the Windows Programs list.

When I double-click the Tab Bar, FF 4.0 just resizes the window but does not open a new tab. It happens when Menu Bar is disabled (not ticked).

Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of your add-ons is causing your problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes). 
See [[Troubleshooting extensions and themes]] and [[Troubleshooting plugins]] 
 
If it does work in Safe-mode then disable all your extensions and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one at a time until the problem reappears. 
You can use "Disable all add-ons" on the [[Safe mode]] start window to disable all extensions. 
You have to close and restart Firefox after each change via "File > Exit" (Mac: "Firefox > Quit"; Linux: "File > Quit")

Firefox does not want to open popup or when I do "file new window" it does not open it too.

When I click on a link that opens a popup, firefox does not open it. Same for "File> New Window." Then, often after Firefox starts to malfunction and no longer wants to open my bookmarks. I uninstalled and reinstalled firefox, removed all extensions .. But this does not solve my problem. can you help me please?

Your above posted troubleshooting list shows quite a few extensions.
Did you really disable all of them and still had the problem?

Which security software (firewall) do you have?
Some can block pop-ups as well.

New window popup does not open on Windows

hi,
when I open an new window in a Premiere HTML5 extension on Mac, it works,
but no window opens on Windows.
newwindow = window.open('www.adobe.com','name','height=200,width=150');
Trying to apply moveTo() or focus() after open() returns Cannot call ... method of undefined.
I wonder what causes this, probably it just gets blocked. By Windows? Premiere on Windows? Chrome in the extension on Windows?
Is there something I can do about this?
I cannot open it in the default browser because ultimately the window popup is a Paypal popup
opened by a webpage loaded in an iframe- which gives the same result as trying to open a window directly from within the extension as described above,

This is a known issue of CEP; we disabled these methods (with window.open() or <a href=url >) to open a new page. A work around is using API CSInterface.openURLInDefaultBrowser(url) to open it in system default browser. I am afraid that CEP does not provide other work around methods if openURLInDefaultBrowser() cannot suit your requirements.

ITunes 10.4 Windows 7 Does not Open

After updating itunes to 10.4 on my Windows 7 (Sp1) 64 bit system, iTunes will not open. I have dug deeply into the Community suggests and followed recommended advnice including the 7/14/11 "Removing and Reinstalling iTunes." I did uninstall ALL Apple programs (iTunes, QT, SOftware update, Mobile Device Support, Bonjour, and Apple Application Support. Removed all program references as well. (Computer literate, CompTIA A+ certified so fairly knowledgeable although we all know a little knowledge is a dangerous thing!)
As a work around until an update fixes the problem, I did discover that using Windows 7 "Troubleshoot Compatibility" opten WILL open iTunes 10.4 so at least for now I have a workaround.
Looking forward to the "old days" when it starts in Win7.

Using the Windows 7 Troubleshooting Capability and it did try to start iTunes (a black window flashed briefly) but was unsuccessful.

Window safari does not open...

hi, usually when the os starts it opens a few apps
but recently one of those appas ,SAFARI, opens but without opening a window!
I must each morning tip a "cmd n" to open a safari windows,
I do not understand what's wrong?

Just talked with support... two options...
Opton 1 (turns off the new "Resume" feature which is new to Lion...) Under System Prefs, click OFF the check box for Restore windows when quitting and re-openingn apps....
Option 2... when you quit Safari, include the option key... so option-command-Q to quit... this quits and discards the windows you have open...
Made my protest to this silly change known... it should be a check box in Safari to load last page, not effect another programs functionability... You're slipping Apple... that's a Microsoft move!

When I click on a link Mozilla populates another window but it never loads anything. I end up having to open Internet Explorer to view anything that has a link that I need to click on.

What version of iPhoto? Assumung 09 or 11...
Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Repair Database. If that doesn't help, then try again, this time using Rebuild Database.
If that fails:
Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. (In early versions of Library Manager it's the File -> Rebuild command. In later versions it's under the Library menu.)
This will create an entirely new library. It will then copy (or try to) your photos and all the associated metadata and versions to this new Library, and arrange it as close as it can to what you had in the damaged Library. It does this based on information it finds in the iPhoto sharing mechanism - but that means that things not shared won't be there, so no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your events, albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

It used to do that, and it does for other desktops on computer, just not mine.

My Firefox window browser does not open at all. Tried everything. No window at all.

A few days back now, a message kept appearing that certificate had expired as 31/5/2011. I just cancelled that and went on to use the browser, Now the browser will not load any page at all.
Tried as many things as I dare.

In any case, you may be having a problem with some Firefox add-on that is hindering your Firefox's normal behavior. Have you tried disabling all add-ons (just to check), to see if Firefox goes back to normal?

Black screen after login. Windows 8 is not opening

After login, I only have a black screen with a cursor.
Windows 8 does not open. Cannot get to "System Restore" or Control Panel.
HP hardware self- diagnostic tests were negative & didn't help.
Please offer possible solutions for recovery.

In upper 1/4 of window, mouse will not open items

In firefox window mouse does not open items in top 1/3 of window. Normally arrow changes to pointer hand. This does not happen in upper 1/3 of opened window. In lines above the page items do open.

That problem can be caused by the Yahoo! Toolbar or the Babylon extension that extents too much downwards and covers the top part of the browser window and thus makes links and buttons in that part of the screen not clickable.

I received an e-mail notification that I am accepted to the Skype Translator Beta.
However, the button to view the app on the Windows Store does not open when clicked. (Windows 8.1, x64)
Also, I prefer to use Skype PC in Desktop Mode. I use Win8.1 almost exclusively in Desktop Mode (using StarDock's Start since my PC does not have a touch screen. Is the Skype Translator Beta available for Desktop Mode, preferably x64?

I have the same problem. I got the email on April 22 when I click on get started the Windows Store doesnt connect the app and there is no clear message saying what the problem is.

Illustrator CC(2014) does not open or create new file in Window 8.1 Pro

My illustrator can launch but once I tried to create a new file it would freeze and will not respond anymore.
I also tried to open existing illustrator files it just create a blank white illustrator window and does not respond afterwards as well.
I tried to reinstall the illustrator for times to fix to issue but it doesnt work.
All the other applications (photoshop/indesign...) work perfectly, but obviously there is a bug in illustrator...
Have any other people experienced similar issue and know how to fix it??

Did you uninstall then used the Cleaner tool before reinstalling?
Is a printer connected? Is the driver up to date? Printer turned on?
Do you have any third party plugins installed?
A graphic tablet?
Any other hardware?
Font management? Which one?
Have you already tried setting up a new user account (Admin) and launching from that one?
