Re: Windows login screen integration

In your AD resource schema, you will have to add below entry
expirePassword  boolean WS_PasswordExpired and while creating a user on AD, set this attriubte as
  <set name='userView.accounts[Active Directory].expirePassword'>
                <s>TRUE</s>
</set>This will make user to change his "password on next window logon"

HI,
If this issue occur to all windows 7 clients, this would be a compatibility issue between application and windows system.
but you can try to run the windows 7 startup repair to check if it could detect something or run the SFC command in command prompt to check if there is any system file modified:

  • Installing yosemite on windows login screen

Hi, after something went totaly wrong with my mac, I found myself stuck on the windows login screen (My mac also operated with windows). I didnt remember my windows password and I cant change it via mail or something. So I was really stuck in there and I think I should buy os x yosemite so I can install os x again. But my question is: If I put the stick in my mac, can I reinstall os x again or will nothing happen? Because if I buy it and nothing is gonna happen Ive bought that stick for nothing,
    Thank you!

You don't buy a USB drive with Yosemite on it. You download Yosemite from the App Store. To reinstall OS X:
Install or Reinstall OS X from Scratch
Be sure you backup your files to an external drive or second internal drive because the following procedure will remove everything from the hard drive.
    Boot to the Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
    Erase the hard drive:
      1. Select Disk Utility from the main menu and click on the Continue button.
      2. After DU loads select your startup volume (usually Macintosh HD) from the
left side list. Click on the Erase tab in the DU main window.
      3. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Optionally, click on
the Security button and set the Zero Data option to one-pass. Click on
the Erase button and wait until the process has completed.
      4. Quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall OS X: Select Reinstall OS X and click on the Install button.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible
because it is three times faster than wireless.

    please help!
    thanks in advance

    1. I have tried copying the Keyboard/Trackpad/Mouse drivers to the $WinPEDriver$ directory with mixed success on a 2012 MBP.
    2. My experience is based on a 2013 rMBP. You may be able to use an Apple USB Keypad/Mouse to better success.
    3. See http://www.macworld.com/article/2460820/macbook-pro-mid-2014-review-minor-update -offers-slightly-better-cpu-performance.html for HW differences between the two machines.
    4. If you have access to a 2013 rMBP, I can suggest trying to build the USB on that and working with the USB to see if you can make it install Windows. the rMBP 2014 and rMBP 2013 have the same HW, except some CPU changes. You can also try building the USB at the nearest Apple store, if possible.
    5. There is a section in AutoUnattend.xml, which is supposed to install all drivers in $WinPEDriver$ (see this http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2686316 )

  • Windows login screen buttons not working (sort of!?!?)

    Okay,
It seems I'm plagued with the weird and strange issues, so the gist is...
Have a Dell Latitude E6330 with Windows 7 Ult.  When I boot up and get to where you login, when I click on ANY of the on desktop 'buttons' (i.e. the 'login' arrow after putting in creds, Switch User, red Shut Down or up arrow for other options, etc.),
the button shows as being 'clicked' (the button press/depress reaction shows), but NOTHING happens.
I've uninstalled/re-installed drivers - plugged in an actual mouse - nothing works.
The ONLY workaround that seems to give it a 'kick' is to put in your creds in and click 'Enter', then log out and the buttons work, BUT if you're a different user, where you would usually just click on Switch User, you have to leave the current user password
blank and just click Enter, so the 'The user name or password is incorrect' error comes up - THEN when you can click on the buttons, they 'work' now?????
So other than re-installing the OS (which we DON'T REALLY want to do, has anyone EVER seen this before???
    Thanks for any ideas
    Cheers

I've never seen it before. Once you finally log in, I'd open cmd as administrator and run a sfc /scannow to see if any errors come up.
When did this issue start? Does it coincide with any updates or program installations?

  • Windows Login Screen doesn't show "eye" symbol for Password Reveal and right arrow (Enter)

When logging in to Windows 8.1 the eye symbol and right arrow symbol have been displayed until (I guess so) after an automatic Windows Update . As I was planning to migrate to Windows 10 I didn't invest much investigation into this problem. Now, after successful migration to Windows 10 Home the problem still exists. After typing the password I can't verify it because the eye symbol is still missing and for entering I have to press "Enter" due to the missing clickable right arrow. All this happens with a Microsoft online Account. I established a local account and with this, the eye symbol but not the right arrow reappeared. Many thanks for helping.

    Hi there
Welcome to the HP Support Forums! It is a great place to find the help you need, both from other users, HP experts and other support personnel. I understand that you wish to enable the reveal password icon for your system. I am happy to help. It really depends on which version of the Operating system you are running, because this sort of thing is normally controlled using the Group Policy Editor. That tool is not a part of a Home edition, you would need the Pro version or higher to have that. Assuming that you do have a pro edition or higher, then these may be of help to you:5 Ways to Access Local Group Policy Editor on Windows 10 - isunshare.comDisable or Enable the new Password Reveal Button feature in Windows 8 - windowsclub.com Unfortunately the version of Windows 10 I have installed beside me is the home edition as well, so I cannot access this, to verify, so let me know if that works for you.

  • How to Bypass Windows 7 Login Screen When Forgot Admin Password

When forgot Windows 7 administrator login password and be stuck at the login screen what can you do? Believe that many people have encountered such a situation where they are locked out of their own computer for forgotten Windows administrator password. So today I would like to talk about several tricks on how to bypass Windows 7 login screen when forgot administrator login password. Trick 1: Reset Windows 7 admin password with password reset diskIf you have ever created a Windows password reset disk for that administrator account before you forgot its password it is easy to use it to reset or remove its password. Just insert the disk into your locked Windows 7 computer and click ¡°Reset Password¡± link on the login screen. Then follow the password reset wizard to perform password reset. This is the easiest way to bypass a Windows login screen when forgot administrator password. Trick 2: Change Windows 7 admin password in Safe ModeIf you have no password reset disk you have to look for other tricks to bypass your Windows 7 administrator password. So if you have enabled the built-in administrator account you can enter Safe Mode by pressing F8 when your computer is booting. And access that built-in administrator account to change other user password. Trick 3: Bypass Windows 7 Login screen with Windows Password RescuerIf the forward 2 tricks don't work, it is necessary for you to use an effective Windows Password Recovery tool like Daossoft Windows Password Rescuer. Steps are as below.Step 1: Download and install Daossoft Windows Password Rescuer into another accessible computer.Step 2: Launch this tool and follow its instruction to burn it to a USB/CD/DVD flash drive.Step 3: Boot your locked Windows 7 computer from the flash drive.Step 4: Follow its instruction to reset/remove your Windows administrator password. Detailed video tutorial :How to Remove or Bypass Windows 7 Administrator Password - Forgot Windows 7 Administrator Password

The methods above don't work at all. Eventually I used a paid tool - PCUnlocker Live CD, and it successfully bypassed my lost admin password.

  • Cannot enter password into Windows 8.1 login screen

I hve  brand new Pavilion 15-P016AX notebook, runnign Windows 8.1.
I have not used it, simply gone through the user setup and connected to th internet. I assume some HP and/or Windows updtes have probably installed themselves in the meantime, but that would be the only change from the factory settings.
On power-up, the first screen which comes up is the standard scren with a clock and the date. I click on this screen and a second screen appears, asking for my login password.
I can click in to the password box, but any typing on the keyboard does not result in any entry to the password box. No asterisks appear at all.
All other icons on this page are active, however. Even the icon (the right facing arrow) to submit the password is active.  I can submit the password, and I am told I have entered the wrong password. Other icons like the on/off icon are also active.
Now, if I put the notebook into sleep mode, then awaken it, the same startup routine happens, but this time I can enter the password and log on.
The onyl solution I can find is to disable passwords on my account, however I would prefer to have password protection.
    Any ideas?

I unplug the keyboard from it's USB  socket, then re-plug it into the same, or another USB socket. This always works for me. The problem only occurs during approx20% of my login attempts seemingly at random.  I  bought new keyboard but this made no difference. I have a "power on" password set (in the BIOS) on my computer. There is never a problem typing this. The problem only occurs at the Windows login screen. I understand that this problem has been around since Windows XP. Maybe Windows 10 will fix it - or maybe it won't.
I have an HP computer running Windows 8.1 that is set up to install updates automatically.

  • Fingerprint Reader not working upon waking from sleep for windows login

    Hello,
I have a brand new T540P with a Validity fingerprint reader.
Rougly 80% of the time, the Fingerprint reader is unresponsive at the windows login screen after waking the computer from sleep. It works 100% of the time when booting from an off position, however. Once logged in, it also works 100% of the time. The issue only arises when logging into windows.
    Things I have tried
-uninstalling/installing device in device manager and finger print manager pro software
-setting fingerprints through both fingerprint manager pro software (lenovo) OR through the built in windows fingerprint control panel options
-disabling "allow windows to turn off this device to save power" in device manager.
I should note as well that I have another T540P that I ordered as a replacement. Both models experience the same issue.
Is this a platform wide issue affecting all T540P models? This is frusterating.

Your report is the first we have ever heard of this issue on T/W.  It does not happen on my T/W systems here (with or without 30 Day Standby enabled).  The other reports I heard of this problem came from X240.
I just want to confirm with you - the problem happens after coming out of Sleep (and not Hibernate), right?
Can you tell me exactly what you are doing?  e.g.
    1.  Use the computer normally (is AC attached or not?)
    2.  Close the lid - the computer goes to sleep  (or do you go to sleep some other way?)
    3.  Open the lid 2 hours later (or how long)?
    4.  are you using a dock?
The more info you can provide, the better.  Thanks for your help.
Also please let me know what BIOS version you have.

  • [Solved] GS60 - Windows 8 - Screen Goes Blank But Sound Continues

Typically about 1-2 seconds after the windows signup screen, the screen goes blank but you can still hear beeps of the pc loading. Then, only sometimes, white lines flash horizontally across the screen.  My only choice at this point is to do a hard shutdown. The "MSI" logo pops up on reboot and process continues. Eventually (like after 5-10 mins. and several restarts/shutdowns from the windows login screen), the screen will work again. The screen will continue working for hours uninterrupted but may encounter the same issue. Then, it takes 5-10 mins to get the screen operational again!

    Hey lbman14,
Try updating your VBIOS if yours are not 80.04.EF.00.21, and use the latest graphics driver from MSI website first.

  • HP pavilion dv7 skewed login screen then turns black

My HP pavilion dv7 laptop turns on, but the login screen is skewed down and to the right. I can see the windows logo while logging in. Once I log in, the screen turns completely black. • U410 hangs at login screen with no password box or username box

So I received some virus quarantines yesterday and removed then but then when through my program files and researched/removed suspicious folders mostly. Went to restart my computer and it now hangs at the login screen with just the Windows login screen background. On startup it runs a memory check and then asks if I want to start in safe mode. Both modes hang at the login screen. So I downloaded the recovery disk because I didn't do the one click backup. I connect my external drive and change the boot order, then restart and it doesn't take me to my external blu ray drive to boot my CD from. Any suggestions here? Highly appreciated.... I am not under warranty.

    LenBlazer wrote:
A  cd or usb flash drive will do. You have to go to bios and change the boot order. However, usually you don't see the cd/Dvd in the boot option so that is why I suggest using the flash drive. BTW, don't forget to disable secure boot when running the program.
@ the OP: did you disable secure boot?

  • Login screen will not accept special characters in password

So, I have a domain account that has a password that contains the character created by pressing ctrl and Backspace key. I have found that if you attempt to type that character at the windows login screen, it will not recognize that. If you remote desktop
to the pc from any version of windows, it will allow you to type in that character and logs in fine. If you went to change a local users password by using the Computer management mmc, it will allow you to enter that character.
How is it possible that this was overlooked, and is there a likelihood of it being fixed?
I'd like to point out that this occurs in windows 8.1 also. I have a large base of bilingual users that have Spanish and other characters in their passwords that have worked up until now.

    Hi,
If i understand you correctly, you could not type the special character at the windows login screen in windows 8.1, but remote desktop could. Am i right?
According to my test, the same result.
So i think you could remote to the pc and change the password:

  • Stuck on Login screen

Hello, I would greatly apriciate any help with this problem.  Yesterday my landlord calls me and tells me he needs to flip the power in my pad to check some things.  i told him to wait a min while i shut down my computers.  i shut them down and now one is having issues when i started it back up.  its my touchsmart 600t.  When it gets to the windows login screen the mouse and keyboard are non responsive.  i called hp support but that was just sad.  pretty much ran every setup there was while the computer was booting.  no luck.  even in safe mode the mouse and keyboard are unresponsive.  so i cant get past the login screen.  tried startup repair.  last known good config.  i dunno what else to try.  im going to pick up an external hd to back up my files this weekend and do a system recovery.  interestingly enough when you are in the boot setup stuff the keyboard works fine and when ur in the HP setup (F11 i think) the mouse works fine too.  just seems like the computer looses all perifrials once you get to that login screen. HELP!

Hello: Did you check your blue tooth receiver that plugs in the back bottom of the computer? When you turn on your computer the blue light should come on near the blue tooth receiver. You can automatically put your computer in safe mode. With out key board or mouse. 1st. Turn it on. 2nd Pull out the wire from the black box that connects to power source while computer is still on. 3rd Reconnect the wire then turn on your computer. The computer will comback on in safemode selection screen. Seeing you are unable to use mouse or key board yet. Press safemode with networking. Ounce you are in safe mode use your touch and go to accessories and open up your on board screen key pad. You want to run check disk. This will fix and repair driver software issues. You will also be able to do a back restore as well. You can also do dynastic checks as well. Save mode with networking will allow to go on line if need to. Just decress your Internet Explorer page to size that you can see every thing clearly. I used this method when my keyboard went bad contacted HP Support they sent me a new keyboard and mouse. After they ran dynastic test with me as well double checking all the steps I took.
Most likely you had a dump files or some one moved your touch screen computer and your booth receiver came loose.
Try these steps before you go to all that troubles you mentioned above. Also replace your batterys in key board and mouse. See if that does the trick.

  • Windows 7 Laptop Freezes Upon Waking Up To Login Screen

    Hello,
I just started a new job and have a laptop that was supplied to me by the company. Before I go to IT I want to see if I can fix this issue myself. Sometimes (maybe 10 or 15% of the time) when I open my laptop or wake it up from sleep mode, when
I go to the login screen it will freeze. This usually happens a few seconds after the screen appears, and will freeze whether or not I've hit CTRL+ALT+DEL or began to enter my login creds. My keyboard (integrated) and mouse (USB) both freeze and are
unresponsive, so I must manually restart the computer.
I asked the question on the Windows 7 community and since my PC is domain joined I was directed here. See the thread here: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_7-hardware/windows-7-laptop-freezes-upon-waking-up-to-login/715bcb8a-ee9b-43f8-a34a-fd105602e2cf
Would love some help on this issue if anyone has any insight.
    Thanks!
