Now I tried a clean reinstall of my Nvidia display
drivers already It does sound like a video card or video driver problem. You said "my Nvidia display drivers" . Have you gone to [url nvidia.com]Nvidia's website and downloaded the latest Nvidia driver. Also if you haven't already install the latest Microsoft DirectX software.
After installing the latest drivers you may want to turn off direct draw:
java -Dsun.java2d.noddraw=true
There are other java2d flags you can try. See http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.5.0/docs/guide/2d/flags.html

  • How do you tell if ZAM 7.5 is running?

I just need a simple test to see quick if it is installed properly in Windows XP. For example, what's the name of the task (process)? Should there be a taskbar tray icon? etc. I can't seem to find this information (but then again I'm terrible at searching).
    Thanks all!
    Paul Benjamin

There are several tasks you can check, but the simplest way is to open the Manager and look at the Process Control Panel at the bottom of the main Manager screen. You'll note a "Collection Servers" tab and a "Task Servers" tab. Click on either of those tabs, then press the F5 key to refresh the display there. You'll see the current status of your Collection Server(s) and Task Server(s). You can further check on the current status of a Client running on the same machine by clicking the "Collection Servers" tab, right-clicking on the name of the Collection Server to which this machine's Client reports, and selecting "View Detailed Status" from the dropdown menu.
If you like, you can also check on ZAM's processes using Windows Task Manager. Look for six processes:
    ColSvr.Exe (the Collection Server itself)
    ColSvrCore.Exe (the Collection Server's "watchdog")
    CClient.Exe (The Client itself)
    CClientSvc.Exe (The Client's "Service" wrapper)
    TaskServer.Exe (The Task Server itself)
    TaskServerCore.Exe (The Task Server's "watchdog")
Note that you will only find those pieces you've installed on this machine. That is to say, for example, that if you've installed a Collection Server but not a Task Server on this machine (you've installed a Task Server on another machine), you won't see the two Task Server processes on this machine.
You may also, at certain times, see additional ZAM processes running in the Windows Task Manager.

anyone aware if something like this really comes with ZAM?

  • Link to Specific Record in ZAM

My organization would like to create a web page (or an API) that when you
type in an asset tag, it takes you to the zen asset record of that
machine. For example, it would bring up the same data as when I use the
zen asset management web interface and search for a specific machine. If
this doesn't make sense, please let me know.

    This should be very possible.
A DB schema was posted for ZAM 7.0 and 7.5, but I am not aware of one
for ZCM. The schema though is basically the same. So it should help.
Are you running ZCM on a ms SQL db or sybase? ms SQL will be a lot
    easier to query.
Look here under the reference section.

  • ZAM 7. Collection Server unable to be started in ZAM Manager

    Hey all,
Having problems getting my Domain Collection Server running in our ZAM Enterprise environment.
Domain server has been rebuilt and by itself appears to be working fine.
I have it communicating back to the central ZAM server and both my "Collection Server" and "Task Server" services are up and running.
However when I log into the ZAM Manager and look for the status of the 2 services, the "Collection Server" status is "stopped" and the "Task Servers" status is "Started"
When I try and start the "Collection Server" nothing happens, the status stays steady as "Stopped". It doesn't appear to even try to start.
From my domain server, if i restart the "Collection Server" service, i see the status in the ZAM Manager Console change from "Stopped" to "Unavailable" then back to "Stopped" again.
Same process on the "Task Server" service results in the ZAM Manager status changing from "Started" to "Unavailable" back to "Started" again.
Does anyone have any ideas as to where i should start to troubleshoot this?
Server was working a year back when i first configured it, I left the company for ~1 year and have returned to the server in this broken state. No one knows what happened. I have since rebuilt the server and am still getting the same issues.
I have confirmed with the Central IT Team that other Domain "Collection Servers" are functioning correctly.

Check the accounts being used to run the collection server service and make sure they have admin rights on the collection server.

  • ZAM support for Debian and CentOS

I'm planning to install Zenworks Asset Management and I would like to know if it would release a support for Debian and CentOS. We have a heterogenous network environment and there are servers that are running Debian and CentOS. Is it possible for ZAM to release a support for these operating systems?

    Vindveif,
The version of Asset Management (7.5) that this forum covers, runs on
top of windows only. ZLM (7.3) only supports SLES and RedHat.

  • Integrating existing third party dataset with ZAM

We're new to Zen Asset Management, but we've figured out how to add custom fields. We'd like to be able to populate these custom fields with data from a home grown database of hardware. For instance, a capital year of purchase or a fiscal-assigned capital asset identifier. I'm sure we can key off of TCP/IP address and write the SQL UPDATE statements, if necessary. I searched documentation and the web for an answer or direction, but keywords like: 'migrate', 'import', and similar keywords have a specific technical meaning within the application.
Is there a method to integrate existing hardware information into the ZAM framework? If so, can you point me in the right direction?

  • Can ZAM capture local Administrators from client?

Hi, my first time posting here. My organization uses Zenworks 11 SP1 (ZCM and ZAM). Can ZAM be configured to capture members of the local administrators group off of the client? Our client machines are Windows XP SP3, and local administrators can be found at My Computer-Manage-Local Users and Groups-Groups-Administrators on the client.
Our client services guys know ZAM much better than I do and they have never been able to find how to do this. I'm writing a custom app that needs requires this data. We have a workaround process in place, but it's a little clunky and it would really be ideal if we had a way to just capture this directly into ZAM since the large majority of the other data I need is already coming from ZAM. Was just wondering if any Zenworks gurus out there could shed a little light. Thank you in advance for any replies.

  • Does ZAM Client work with Windows 7 and/or OS X Snow Leopard

Or will there be support for either of those environments? Installer seems to work OK, but client does not report to the Collector.

I've been advised by our Novell Account Manager that support for Windows 7 will not be incorporated into ZAM 7.5, however, the ZAM 10/ZCM 10 client will support Windows 7. I imagine they will take the same stance with Snow Leopard.

  • ZAM collector failed to get WIF path message

This irritating message constantly appears in C:\Program Files\Novell\ZENworks\Asset Management\bin\colw32.log on many PC's. On some PC's it appears every time the collector service tries to start but on some it only appears infrequently. I need to know how to troubleshoot this message as many of our workstations are not producing an inventory and it's down to this message.
I have done some tests today on several PC's all logged on as me. Some work, some don't, so it can't be anything to do with policies and rights to the registry. Using ZAM 7.5 IR16 with latest product updates.
    Thanks

Diag.Exe and DoRes.DLL already exist in the client directory. This has created and populated a file called CClientEvent20081201.log in the client logs directory. However it contains no useful information at all as to why this "Failed to get WIF path" message appears.
On the particular PC I am using here, there are 2 .WIF files dated 27th November in the InboxCC directory then nothing since so it did work until last week so why it has stopped working now I have no idea.

I had the same problem. It turns out the Windows firewall was blocking port 7461. Once port 7461 was opened everything started to work.

  • ZAM client not scanning on Mac osx

I am having a problem with osx computers not showing up in the database. When I right click the server and view detailed status the machines show up as ready and idle. I have posted the log from one of the machines with diagnostic=1 and an attempted manual scan while logging. No files are created in the InboxCC folder.
