  • Panning with a non-Apple mouse

I'm using a Razer Orochi, and I want to be able to pan (horizontal and/or vertical scrolling, the same way as a two-finger drag on a touchpad) by moving it. Is there a button config or keyboard shortcut for this?

I mentioned the model & driver for completeness and macro programmability, not because I expected the pan functionality to be provided by a 3rd party driver.
There is no way that I can see to setup any non-apple mouse to be able to pan, 3rd party drivers or not.
Something as simple as hold control while dragging would be perfect.
AFAICT there is no support for panning with a mouse is OSX.
I can't even find a way to pan with the keyboard.

  • Bluetooth problem with OSX Yosemite: Magic Mouse and Keyboard

    Hello everyone,
I've a problem on my MacBook Pro with Retina Display 13" (late 2013).
I've always used it plugged with an external monitor (I love double screen), magic mouse and bluetooth keyboard. On Mavericks everything was perfect with this setup.
Yesterday I installed OSX Yosemite and I've found a boring problem: my Magic Mouse and my Bluetooth Keyboard have a 0.5 second of latency, lag. This happen when the Macbook is not plugged with battery charger. When he is on charge, the problem don't exist.
I noticed this bug also on the public beta of this summer and submit the feedback.
I hoped that they fixed this before release but the bug is still here.
How can i solve this boring problem?

I also reported this issue again and again during each beta release.
This makes the MacBook basically unusable in battery power for doing any kind of design and coding work.
I don't have any bluetooth addons or third party utilities. I also tried clearing PRAMs, and reinstalling Yosemite, to no avail.
Here are some threads about the issue, which, I'm noticing, is common.

    http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=1802838
Note that while the issue is kind of tolerable using the mouse, it's tragic with the keyboard.
Does this prevent you from using OS X Yosemite?
The issue makes it very difficult for me to use OS X Yosemite

  • Problem with a non-apple-mouse

    Hi,
I don't like the one button mouse, so I use a USB mouse on my Power Mac G5. But the mouse is extremly imprecise but on a windows computer it works fine.
Can somebody recomend a mouse which works fine on a mac?
    Thanks

I presume you've set the cursor speed and suchlike in System Preferences/Keyboard and Mouse?
Did the mouse come with driver software or software for it's own Control Panel?
Generally most mice should work fine, but if you still have a problem, Logitech are a good choice..

  • MACbook Pro/Bluetooth?Disconnect issues with an Apple mouse and keyboard

    Well Folks-
The disconnect issue I have with my Macbook Pro using a wireless Apple Keyboard and mouse is BACK.    I wiped the hard drive clean and I reinstalled and I updated the O.S. system including purchasiing Lion via the ineternet one by one and the disconnect issue has retuned on Day 4.    What else is there left to do?   Anyone?

    Hi....
Might be corrupted Bluetooth preferences (.plist)
    Go to /Library/Preferences
Move the com.apple.Bluetooth.plist file from the Preferences folder to the Trash.
See if that helped. You may need to re, "pair" your devices and the Mac OS X will re geneate a new .plist file for you.
Make sure the batteries are fresh also.

  • Mac mini loses mouse and keyboard after sleep.

    Hi Everyone:
I recently bought my Mom one of the new Mac mini (I'm a PowerBook user myself), and she's running into some puzzling problems which, while minor, are sufficiently annoying as to confuse poor old Mom.
The system egnrally runs fine after you turn it on, until it goes to sleep. After some undefined period in sleep mode, the Mac mini appears to "lose" the USB keyboard and mouse which is plugged into it. If you press a mouse button or a keyboard key a few minutes within the system going to sleep, the system will wake up and both will work. If you wait a longer period of time (say, 20 minutes or longer, although I haven't sat and timed it at all), pressing any key or mouse button does nothing, and you have to wake it from sleep by using the power button. Once awake, the keyboard and mouse do nothing. The only way to get them back is to unplug both of them (the mouse is chained through the keyboard as the other Mac mini USB slot is used by Mom's UPS), and plug them back in so the Mac mini can re-detect them on the bus, after which everything is happy again until the system has been asleep for too long.
Has anyone experienced this? Both the mouse and keyboard are genuine IBM (as in: made by International Business Machines), although are several years old (I bought them when I worked for IBM, and IIRC they were amongst the first models of USB keyboards and mice that IBM offered, if not the first).
In the interm, I've lent Mom my Apple Bluetooth mouse and keyboard, which has (as you would expect) worked flawlessly. This problem may "solve" itself -- I'm hoping to take Mom out later this week to buy her own Apple Bluetooth mouse and keyboard at the Apple Store.
The other problem, however, isn't as easy (or necessarily as cheap) to fix. Again after the system has been asleep for some time, it often (but not always) changing the resolution of the monitor when it wakes up. I have the mini set to use a reasonable 1024*768, but sometimes when it awakes it will suddenly be set to 800*600 or 832*624. Sure, you can change it back, but that's major surgury for Mom (and I'm moving cross-country next week, and won't be able to just "drop by" to fix system problems). The monitor is an Ambra SVGA model (Ambra was a brand-name of inexpensive PCs that IBM sold some years ago), and never had any such problems on her last (Intel-based) system the mini is replacing.
The whole purpose of the Mac mini is to "bring your own" Keyboard, Mouse, and Monitor -- but in our case the keyboard and mouse don't work at all after sleep, and the monitors resolution gets dynamically changed after sleep. Has anyone else encountered this situations, or any solutions? TIA!
    Brad BARCLAY

    Hey Jan:
I've seen quite a few posts in this regard with non-Apple mice and keyboard.
Well, the mouse and keyboard are quite old -- it could be that they're having a problem dealing with identifying themselves on the USB bus during sleep, or aren't identifying themselves fast enough at wake time. I'll just have to replace them I guess.
I've never seen a sleep resolution switching problem except on a VGA adapter to DVI connection to an old tube monitor.
Well, this is a pretty vanilla CRT monitor circa about 1999, so yeah -- it could once again be an age issue, and the fact that there is a DVI -> VGA adapter involved in the middle.
For worrying about fixing Mom's Mac, setup her remote VNC software (Apple Remote Desktop Client) and use the free Chicken of the VNC admin program.
I am quite familiar with VNC. As much admin as possible will be done by SSH, but I will have VNC in place before I leave. The big problem is going to be the fact that I'm going to be several timezones (and over 4000 km) away, so I won't necessarily be available at a moments notice to help her with this sort of thing.
The CRT issue we might just have to deal with by having her always run it at 800*600 (I don't think she'd really notice the difference, and as her eyes aren't what they once used to be, the slight size increase may be more confortable for her in the long run) until such time they she can afford to buy a nicer display (I did my duty as a son buying her the Mac mini and an iSight camera -- she has to take care of the rest ).
    Yaz.

  • Can't use non apple mouse with hard drive test?

Having trouble reading an installation CD for a new scanner. Laptop with Tiger fine. Not iMac. So, was trying to run Hardware Test. Inserted disk, restarted with option key down. Image comes up. Can't select anything because Macally mouse won't work in harddrive test mode. Mouse plugged into port on back of computer, not in keyboard. Do I have to find the original apple mouse?
    Thanks for help! Judy

It should work, I have a non-Apple mouse that I use for that and it works just fine. Perhaps Macally mouses require special software to run, maybe you should check their web site. I know my Wacom, what I usually use, is completely dead until my login window opens.
So, yeah, I think you need to find the original Apple one.

  • Apple TV, monitor use and lag time with mouse and keyboard

I purchased an Apple TV so that I could use one monitor to switch between my Mac Mini and my MacbookPro. The monitor is hardwired to the Mini, but the MacbookPro uses airplay. My wireless mouse and keyboard lag with this setup. Is there a way to fix this?

My contacts in Pyongyang and Interlaken tell me you have fallen in the abyss that "The Great Successor,” Kim Jong-un refers to when he goes to DisneyWorld. One is either ‘right’ or ‘wrong,’ never ‘helpful.’ However due to your Stalinist screen name, you’ve been awarded some slack.
I didn’t see a reference to even a clue on the Apple TV site regarding my traumatic technological problem. I’ll be contacting the Grack Granny Smythe force at Apple’s underground facility at La Junta, CO.
There will be a one way, non-stop, sleeper class Lockheed SR-71 waiting for you at Nantucket International if Tech Support for Apple TV denies that Apple TV exists any longer.

  • HT1369 Ipod touch not being recognized by itunes (but is registering as an external drive by the computer itself) have updated and reinstalled itunes, stopped/started apple mobile device and removed and mobile programs associated with my non apple cellpho

Ipod touch not being recognized by itunes (but is registering as an external drive by the computer itself) have updated and reinstalled itunes, stopped/started apple mobile device and removed any mobile programs associated with my non apple cellphone. This seems to have started happening after the last Itunes update I did as I was able to put music on my ipod touch a month or so ago. Is there some way to go back to an older version of itunes? I really have no idea what else to do since I followed every step on the trouble shooting page for windows 8.

I had this problem too and my roommate solved it!
    Go to 'Settings'
    'Music'
Scroll to the bottom and enter your password to log onto your home sharing
Then connect to iTunes and sync!

  • Using an AE with a non-Apple network

    Hello,
I have a new 802.11n airport express that I would like to use solely for streaming music from an ipod touch to my stereo (airtunes). The problem is that I am sharing wireless with my neighbor (yes sharing, not stealing, he gave me his password), and I would like to get the AE on that network, which is a non-apple network. Since I don't want to use the AE for internet I could just set it up with it's own network without internet and run airtunes that way. Unfortunately, in order to connect to it I believe I would have to disconnect from my neighbor's wireless network which would take me offline. This would be fine if I was playing music stored on my ipod touch, but I mostly play music through Spotify which requires an internet connection. So instead I would like to figure out how to join the AE to my neigbor's non-apple network using his network pretection info he gave me. Is this straightforward or do I have to change the settings to a different mode, like ProxySTA? Will it even work at all with a non-apple network?
This is a ski house I am renting for the winter and I am currently not up there, so I am trying to figure this out before the season starts.
Thanks so much for any help.
    Sam

I would like to figure out how to join the AE to my neigbor's non-apple network using his network pretection info he gave me.
To join the wireless network, you would choose the option during setup of the AirPort Express (AX) to "Join a wireless network" and follow the guided step by step configuration process.
You will need to know the exact type of wireless security that is being used on the wireless network and the password for the network. You probably already know the password, but you will need to tell the AX what type of security settings it should use during the setup.
Unfortunately, there is just no way to set up the AX for the task that you want in advance because it needs to "see" the wireless signal before you can begin to configure the device.

  • Problems with Apple Wireless Mouse and Keyboard

Last week my keyboard started repeating letters and not responding and the mouse started acting like an old mouse with a dirty trackball. I searched many message boards and got no help for my specific problem. I'm on a PowerPC G5 running OS 10.3.9.
Batteries are good. I have run both a hardware test and disk utility with no problems found. The problem seems to have shown up after an apple software update. Don't know if that could have caused some sort of system incompatibility problem.
Since both mouse and keyboard work with my powerbook, I don't know what else to do. I have re-paired both mouse and keyboard and had some problems with them showing up. I also have shut down the system, unpluged everything and started up again but nothing has worked.
If anyone has an answer I would be really greatful. Please help. thanks

    Hi again,
No, I had not even thought of that. I just unplugged it and plugged it back in and the problem may be fixed!!!!!
Since the problem is intermittent, I'm not sure yet. The worst trouble I've been having has been in trying to drag things across the screen and I have just been able to do that with several windows.
Yeah!!! I think you may have done it. I will keep this thread open for a while but I think that was it. You my friend are a genius! I'm a bit embarassed to have not thought of that. I didn't even remember that that antenna existed.
    thanks sooooooo much.

  • Apple Wireless mouse and keyboard with Windows on iMac Intel

    Hi there!
Is it possible to use the Apple Wireless mouse and keyboard on the iMac Intel running Windows XP?
My bluetooth setup assistant can't find any of them.
    Thanks!

Actually if You Use the wireless mouse during the setup for windows it works fine the only drawback it that using the wireless mouse on windows is that it drains the battery more quickly than Mac OS X does. So make sure you have extra batteries around

  • Someones hacking my apple account. I now have a non apple phone and I would like to cancel my account?

Twice in the last month someone has been logging in to my apple account. I have changed the password but it doesnt seem to help. I wrecked my old iphone and now have a non apple phone and would like to eliminate my apple account. How do I do this?

I am puzzled by this. The laptop doesn't need the Apple ID - but iTunes does. I could be missing something but ....
Why would you not be able to use your existing Apple ID and iTunes account on a new laptop? If you authorized the computer - you should be able to use your existing account - unless you already had 5 computers authorized with the existing ID - and that was why iTunes would not accept the ID. However, I'm sure that you would have received a popup message from iTunes telling you that you had reached the limit.
I just received a new MBP and my daughter did as well. My entire family shares an Apple ID and we had no issues at all with my Apple ID and iTunes on our new computers and I did not have to sign up for a new account. Did you even try the old ID?

  • Airport interfering with mouse and keyboard?

This afternoon I moved our Airport and cable modem from our bedroom into my home office, where it now sits right next to my computer. Ever since I've had nothing but buggy problems with my mouse and keyboard. My mouse is wireless but the keyboard is connected via USB. Sometimes the keyboard won't work at all, sometimes the mouse won't work at all, and sometimes the mouse does funny things. For instance, when I click on an app icon in the dock instead of opening the app it opens a Finder window with the app selected, or it acts as if it's doing an option-click and gives me funny menus. Sometimes it just scrolls funny - once my Safari windows started flickering when I tried to scroll. The weirdest thing is my keyboard, which doesn't work at all 70% of the time. It's just a USB connection, not bluetooth, so I can't figure out why it would suddenly start misbehaving.
I'm really stumped, and getting very frustrated. I assumed that an Apple keyboard and mouse would play nice with an Apple Aiport base station, but maybe not. Is it possible the Airport is causing interference?

yes, it may be. If you can, try using a wired mouse, and change the channel on your
Airport, and the frequency, maybe check for interference robustness.  I have found that BluTooth on the Mac pro is not so good, so I went out and bought a usb plugin for BT, which sits at the front of my tower and helps with that.  Also, see if moving your Airport and modem further away helps things.  Oh, and try running disk Utilities, repair permissions and check for updates (it's worth a try). If you are using an aluminum keyboard, I think there was an update released just for that alone.....
see also if there is an update for your mouse's software, or what the buttons are set to open by default
    hopefully this helps
