Reaction as pdf instead of an an html overview

I am using AdobeForms for receiving forms from different sales agents. Everytime they fill in a form, I receive an e-mail with an overview of what they have filled in. However, this is sort of a html summary of what they have filled in. I would like to receive the entire form as a pdf. The one you can export from the list of reactions when you are logged in at FormsCentral. Is that possible?
Thanks in forward for your help.

FormsCentral PDFs are not dynamic.  What is your reference to Dynamic?  Are you thinking of forms created by Adobe LiveCycle (Dynamic XFA forms)?  FormsCentral creates "static" AcroForm type forms.
You can use a PDF designed in and generated from FormsCentral in a more traditional work flow where you add a Submit button with the submit method of your choice to the PDF and don't use FormsCentral to collect the responses.
One other options is to save your FormsCentral form as a Submission enabled PDF and then edit that PDF in Acrobat adding an additional Submit method to the existing Submit button that would open the default email client and attach the PDF to an email, it would also submit the data to FormsCentral, so if the user did complete sending the email you would recieve the PDF back as well as have the response data in your FormsCentral account.
This FAQ describes how to edit a FormsCentral PDF in Acrobat: http://forums.adobe.com/docs/DOC-3661
There are several tutorials online for adding the Emailo Submit method to a button, take care not to modify the existing actions on that button so you do not break the FormsCentral submit if you are trying to have both: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jql1wp5Gofs

Josh

  • Is it possible to import a pdf instead of a jpg to put in the base "photo layer?"

    Is it possible to import a pdf instead of a jpg to put in the base "photo layer?"
    I start with a pdf document convert it to a jpg
         mark it up in ideas
         then finish up with a marked up  jpg document
         then reconvert it back to a pdf
    I can only use jpgs in ideas. Converting the pdf to a jpg and them re convert it back after marking it up but this seems like an awfully round about way of doing things especially as it should all be inhouse adobe products .
    An alternative would be to use adobe reader to mark up the document, but this does not allow me enough control as compared with marking it up Ideas, particularly with layers and control of the tools.
    What I am trying to do is mark up and scribble over my architectual CAD drawings which are exported as a pdf document.
    Any one got any bright ideas?
    thanks

    Hi Brian,
    Saving as PDF it is not currently possible.I created the following feature request on your behalf. Please add your vote and any comments you would like see included
    http://forums.adobe.com/ideas/1973
    I also considered recommending Adobe Debut, it is currently only available on Android and might only work if you presenting the markup data from the tablet itself. You can import a multi-page PDF and add markups to the various pages and present the document to someone from the tablet, not sure if that would be useful for you or not?

  • Display report directly to PDF instead of when user selects that

    Hi, We have a requirement where we want to export report directly to PDF when user runs a report. We have a Java application where parameter screen for Crystal reports is displayed. When user clicks process button after selecting parameter then a new ReportViewer window appears. Right now after running report user selects export option to export to PDF. They want to open report directly to PDF instead of opening report / selecting export option.
    We have Crystal reports saved in BOXI R2 SP3 on IIS.  We are using .NET SDK to do this.
    Thanks,

    You can export and stream directly using RAS.

    Hi all,
    I have a urgent requirement in which I have to call a customize pdf instead of oracle standard pdf. Customize pdf is in .rtf format.
    when we choose "view .pdf" option from message choice than this calls the oracle standard pdf.
    Please help...
    Thanks
    Amit

    Hi Amit,
    You need to check how it is generating the pdf in seeded page then you need to customize.
    One simpel solution could be extend controller and in controller handle the event which generates the PDF, and write code in this event handller to generate cusomized pdf.

  • Set Adobe Reader iPad/iPhone app to just view pdf instead of downloading it?

    Hello,
    I work for a financial company and it seems that some of our user's were having trouble viewing a pdf document that contained editable text boxes.  The layout of the form itself would show, but none of the text within the text boxes would appear.  So I tested the pdf out on my phone as well and did the same exact thing (layout shows, but no text).   Since everyone was having trouble viewing the text within the document, I downloaded the Adobe Reader App and it worked perfectly.  The only issue that I have is that since we are a financial institution, we get audited quite often and having documents stored on your phone is a big 'no-no' to the auditors.  So I was wondering if it was possible to make the Adobe Reader App just view the pdf instead downloading the pdf to the application and storing it in the docs and the recent docs setting.  A little more info on our part:   We are running Exchange 2010, my iPhone is a 4S and it's running the ios7, and the iPad is running ios 6.1.03 (I think).  Also, I did a little bit of searching but I could find anything but is there some sort of list that will say what does/does not work in regards to pdf's on iPhones or iPads?  Any suggestions/help is very welcome and appreciated!
    Thanks,

    Hi Shradha and thank you for that information.  Now is that only in regards to the Adobe Reader app or does that copy expand to all current pdf viewer apps on iOS?  If it is only in regards to the Adobe Reader app, then do you know of an app that may have the functionality that I am looking for?  I have tried searching for one, but I have been unsuccessful in my searches.
    Thanks,

  • .pdf to .txt, .doc and .html

    Hi,
    I want to convert .pdf to .txt, .doc and .html. Any suggestions?
    WASIF

    For a PDF reader I did hear well from PDFBox, and less well from others.
    The problem with PDF is, that parts in the PDF are compressed with several methods and even with a minor encryption. The result is, that many versions of PDFs may exist.
    For Writing .doc I would defer to RTF (you can still name it .doc).
    There an Internet search will suffice.
    You might peek in src.zip javax/swing/text: Swing has its own minimal support for HTML and RTF.

    Can you post a link?
    IE usually does content sniffing to see which file is received, but Firefox require the correct MIME type and will display the file as text if the server sends the file as text/plain as many servers do in such a case.
    You can check the HTTP response headers with the Live Http Headers extension.

  • How can I make Adobe Reader 9 open for incoming PDFs instead of Acrobat 5.0?

    How can I make Adobe Reader 9 open for incoming PDFs instead of Acrobat 5.0?

    Hi,
    Assuming that you have Reader 9.3.4 already installed on your machine, you can try the following to make Reader 9.3.4 as the default PDF opening application:
    1. Right click on any PDF on your system and click on the "Open With" Option in the context menu that appears. In case you get another submenu, click on Chose Program in that menu. (In case you do not see any "Open With" option, then hold down the Shift key and right click on the file)
    2. Click on Browse button in the dialog that appears, and select Reader 9. Make sure that you select the checkbox for "Always use the selected program to open this kind of file"
    3. Click on OK.
    This will make Adobe Reader 9 as the default viewer for all PDFs on your system.

    I think that the plug-in adobe takes the focus and I can't take it after pdf file loaded. I try to take focus with javascript but it doesn't work.
    Is there anyway to put the focus on my html page ?

    I have not tested this in IE 6, but just so you know, The
    embed tag for a pdf will work for all browsers including IE7 except
    Opera.
    Ex. for a 800px x 100px header....
    <embed src="example.pdf" width="800px"
    height="110px"></embed>
    In Acrobat 8 select file>properties (shortcut ctrl-d)
    Select initial view, then check hide menu, hide toolbars, hide
    window controls. For magnification select fit width.
    The above example will still show a small background border
    which I could not get rid of, but may still work for you.

  • Using PDF instead of HTML

    To whom it may concern at Adobe,
    After careful consideration of the numerous present technologies for website content (including HTML, PHP, Java, JavaScript, MySQL, etc, and systems like Typo3, Joomla, etc), we decided to drop everything in favour of PDF, being both an ISO standard and the standard de facto for office documentation. Everybody has Acrobat Reader installed, the browser plugin is also installed, and therefore everybody is able to display an http://.../index.pdf. Problems that are common to other websites, such as SQL injection, the need to keep a backup of the SQL server, the demand for space (the bare installation of typo3 demands 1GB of server space), for example, they are problems that we simply do not want to have. Today, as a result of the initial considerations and subsequent development, a singe index.pdf file of 200K holds our entire website. Dynamic content is loaded by included swfs that read various .xml files. The website displays beautifully on a Mac with Safari and Acrobat X, or on Windows XP with any browser. There are a few problems, however, that are still pending. We describe them here.
    The call of index.pdf from index.html may result into a blank page, and the Acrobat Reader plugin makes no effort to inform and help the human client. It turns out that Acrobat Reader v10 is not available on all platforms. For example, linux (ubuntu v11) and solaris (v11) still have Acrobar Reader v9. On linux or solaris you see a "3d data parsing error'' each time you open a page with included swf. This does not happen all the times. It only happens if your installed version is different than version 9.2. Both 9.3 and 9.4 show the above error. This is a manyfold problem, because the latest version on those systems is version 9.4; version 10 is not available from Adobe and most people are not willing to downgrade to version 9.2, which is also not available from the system's default package manager. Other systems are not devoid of problems. On Apple OSX, for example, the plugin is only available for Safari. If your default browser is Firefox, or Chrome, or Opera, you cannot see the index.pdf. You are forced to use Safari. On Apple iOS, even Safari fails to run the index.pdf, because Acrobat Reader is not avilable for that platform. We solved most of these problems via an HTML+JavaScript loader that performs a compatibility check up. If all tests are successful, then the HTML calls the PDF. If the tests fail, then a courtesy message appears, explaining the problem(s) and describing the steps that the user must execute to solve the problem(s). If the user does not want to use the Acrobat plugin, then the user is redirected to the RSS feeds. The whole website is built upon RSS feeds, and thus the user has access to (most of) the website content. You can read this code at the following address: http://www.MadreAcqua.org/index.html. This is not sufficient, however. We had people with Acrobat Reader X installed on Adobe supported systems, but their browser plugin was still version 9; it turned out that the update of the Reader application failed to update the Reader plugin. On Windows 7+updates, with Firefox 4+updates and Acrobat Reader 10+ updates, the index.pdf does not display the included swfs. We remark that it works on Windows XP+updates and Adobe Reader 10 with any browser. The failure on Windows 7 is therefore a mistery. There are also people who are sick and tired of updating Acrobat Reader by hand, or do not have the skill or time to do it. This is also the source of recent security concerns.
    The following are additional problems.
    1. The index.pdf includes SWFs for its dynamic parts (RSS readers and video). Sometimes, randomly, the SWFs do either of the following: they disappear (the only way to make them appear again is to click on their area); they disappear and reappear like christmas lights (the only way to make them stop is to reload the page); they also disappear or reappear when resizing the browser's window.
    2. The mouse wheel flips the pages instead of scrolling. More precisely, each page of the website is displayed in full. If one scrolls, however, the engine should try scrolling, find that the page is displayed in full, and therefore nothing should happen. Instead, the engine shows the next page of the PDF. The PDF was built with the "single page view" flag, but the engine forces the "Enable Scrolling" mode. This seems to be a bug of Adobe Reader.
    In summary, dear Adobe, please ensure that all platforms have the same version of Acrobat Reader plugin, and that the plugin is automatically updated, similarly to Flash Player 10.3. A single plugin (pdf+swf) would also be useful to have. Please also make an official loader as part of the plugin, both to solve (most of) the above problems and rise your own awareness of them. Failure to do so implies your failure to offer sound competition to HTML++.
    Best regards,
    M.A.S.T.

    > At the time Reader nine was released, there was NO SUCH THING as Reader 10. It didn't exist.
    Where is the problem here? Adobe can release an update for version 9 that makes it aware of version 10, then perform the actual update to version 10.
    > I agree it should.... it should also inform about versions 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, ad infinitum until the end of time too.
    It would be easier to just release the source code, once.
    > You know that you are under no legal obligation to update anything. If you visithttp://oldversion.com/Acrobat%20Reader.html you can download Adobe Reader version 1 if you feel so inclined, and you will be able to view hardly any PDFs at all, including PDF websites. It's entirely up to you.
    The recent security attacks are all based upon people still using version 9, and Adobe did not gain in reputation because of it. There is also a loss in functionality, both because version 9.2 can display inline swf while 9.3 and 9.4 trigger a still unpatched "3d data parsing error", and version 10 is not available on all platforms.
    It is not clear whether you work for Adobe or its competitors.
    It is clear, however, that the present Reader is not good enough for our purpose.

  • FSG Outputting to PDF instead of Excel

    Hi All,
    I would like to publish my FSG reports in Excel format. I know XML Publisher can do this and have been trying various things, but the output is always PDF.
    Firstly;
    I am using the Concurrent Request ‘Program: Publish Basic FSG’. I have defined a Data Definition and template and associated them together. I have also updated the Concurrent Request Program in ‘System Administration’ with the template that I want to be the default. However when I try and submit the request ‘Program: Publish Basic FSG’ and select Format ‘Excel’ in the Layout option, the report always publishes and opens as a PDF. I also tried changing this to HTML to ensure excel wasn’t an incorrect option, yet it still comes out in PDF.
    Please Help?
    Secondly;
    What is the reason for the layout template option does not defaulting in, if the Concurrent Request ‘Program: Publish Basic FSG’ is set to Text instead of XML?
    Look forward to your replies.
    Lance

    Hi Lance
    You're on a late enough version I think. Log a TAR and ensure its routed to XMLP as the product. IT will get to our support team and on our radar. As much info as possible will be helpful ... screen shots, etc.

  • Submit a pdf instead of a picture How?

    When browsing with safari on a websight I'ts only possible to submit a picture instead of a pdf with My CV. WHY?.

    Did you set up iCab to use its own uploader.
    From its FAQ:
    iCab Support wrote:
    In the Settings of iCab Mobile ("Network" settings) you can configure if iCab should use the upload capabilities of the iOS or the one from iCab Mobile.
    Using the upload capabilities of the iOS will work on almost all web pages but is limited to photos and videos from the photo album and is only working under iOS 6 and later. Using iCab's own upload capability will allow to upload all file types, even under iOS 5, but it may not work on all web sites.

    And of course have moved the file into iCab.

  • AIR 3 Bug: PDF width is more than HTML width

    In AIR 3, I'm loading a PDF using the mx:HTML component. Here's some sample code:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
    <s:WindowedApplication xmlns:fx="http://ns.adobe.com/mxml/2009"
    xmlns:s="library://ns.adobe.com/flex/spark"
    xmlns:mx="library://ns.adobe.com/flex/mx"
    showStatusBar="false">
    <s:layout>
    <s:HorizontalLayout paddingBottom="8" paddingLeft="8" paddingRight="8" paddingTop="8"/>
    </s:layout>
    <s:VGroup width="100%" height="100%">
    <s:Button label="Open PDF" click="html.location = 'http://samplepdf.com/sample.pdf#toolbar=1&navpanes=0&view=FitH,top'"/>
    <s:DataGrid width="100%" height="100%"/>
    </s:VGroup>
    <s:BorderContainer width="100%" height="100%" backgroundColor="#EFEFEF">
    <mx:HTML id="html" width="100%" height="100%"/>
    </s:BorderContainer>
    </s:WindowedApplication>
    The HTML area has a width of 100% but only takes up half the screen due to another component which is also trying to use 100% of the screen. In AIR 2.x the PDF displays fine, but in AIR 3 the PDF displays as though it's using the.entire width of the runtime window instead of the HTML's width.
    If the runtime window is resized, minimized or maximized, the PDF width automatically changes and matches the HTML width, which displays fine. This is the only workaround I have found that doesn't involve removing software from the workstation. Another user has found that downgrading from Acrobat 10.x to 9.x also works, but for Windows 7 users that have Acrobat 8 Pro and Reader 9 (like me) this causes errors (that are fixed in Reader 10), so this isn't a suitable workaround for me.
    Here's the bug report: https://bugbase.adobe.com/index.cfm?event=bug&id=3000289
    Any chance this bug could be looked into urgently as it's preventing us from using AIR 3 or any Flex applications that use the AIR 3 SDK?

    POSSIBLE WORKAROUND:
    I think I've found the problem. The issue doesn't happen with Adobe Reader 10.0 full stop. However the issue occurs with version 10.0.1 or later when "Protected Mode" is enabled. Disabling Protected Mode resolves the problem, at least for me.
    This workaround has been tested with Reader 10.1.3.
    Could Adobe AIR 3.x be doing something that Reader interprets as malicious, thus why the issue only seems to occur when Protected Mode is enabled?
