hello friends
i m new in labview . can any body advised me how to read and write with printer that have USB interface . because latest printer connection are usb based not parallel port based.
any example or material.

Hi,
It depends on what type of driver you are using, and how that driver communicates with you printer.
There are lost of different ways LabVIEW can interface with external hardware, either using all libary function node, ActiveX, .NET, etc. It all depends on what type of driver you are using.

I have heard that an external hard drive formatted in FAT32 from a windows machine will work with a mac. Is it a seemless read and write while using an application. i have both a pc and a mac and want both to use the same harddrive.

Hi,
as brianking said, you won't be able to boot from it, but for an external drive fat32 works like a charm. I share three 250 GB external drives with my colleagues at work and we only once had a problem of destroyed FAT which might have been caused by the Mac, but was never examined since it did not happen again.

When using the Database Connectivity Toolset, reads and writes with long binary fields are incompatible.

I am trying to write LabVIEW Variants to long binary fields in a .mdb file using the Database Connectivity Toolset. I get errors when trying to convert the field back to a variant after reading it back from the database.
I next tried flattening the variant before writing it and ultimately wound up doing the following experiments:
1) If I use DB Tools Insert Data to write an ordinary string and read it back using a DB Tools Select Data, the string is converted from ASCII to Unicode.
2) If I use DB Tools Create Parameterized Query to do an INSERT INTO or an UPDATE operation, specifying that the data is BINARY, then read it back using a DB Tools Select Data,
the length of the string is prepended to the string itself as a big-endian four-byte integer.
I can't think of any way to do a parameterized read, although the mechanism exists to return data via parameters.
Presuming that this same problem affects Variants when they are written to the database and read back, I could see why I get an error. At least with flattened strings I have the option of discarding the length bytes from the beginning of the string.
Am I missing something here?

You've missed the point. When a data item is flattened to a string, the first four bytes of the string are expected to be the total length of the string in big-endian binary format. What is happening here is that preceding this four-byte length code is another copy of the same four bytes. If an ordinary string, "abcdefg" is used in place of the flattened data item, it will come back as <00><00><00><07>abcdefg. Here I've used to represent a byte in hexadecimal notation. This problem has nothing to do with flattening and unflattening data items. It has only to do with the data channel consisting of writing to and reading from the database.

How To Read and Write with Listbox

Looking for a simple example on how to write data into a Listbox via my Block Diagram.
That indicates to me that my Listbox needs to be an Indicator (so I can write to it).
But, if my operator selects one of the items from the Listbox, I want to be able to read what they selected - so it also needs to be a Control.
Is there an example on how to do something basic like this?

For implementation in LabVIEW, just search for OPC on ni.com. There are a lot of documents explaining how to implement this communication protocol.

Ideapad s410p usb 3 cannot read and write

i have an ideapad s410p with windows 8.1
when i plug in external harddisk into usb3 port, windows detect the drive and i can view the file.
but when i want to copy some file into my disk, it just stuck there, harddisk do not write anything in.
but if i plug into usb 2 port it act normal, i can read and write to my disk anytime.
does any one experience this also?

If you are going to be installing the driver by dragging it to the /Library/CFM/ folder, you can do it without changing the permissions; drag it into the folder, click Authenticate from the dialog box, and type in your administrator password.
To change the permissions on that folder, open the Get Info window for it and click on the padlock next to the owner's name in the Ownership & Permissions section; next, type in your administrator password. Change it to yourself to release the group access menu. Change the group access to Read & Write, and then change the owner back to system. Close the window.

Reinstall MacFuse with the one from http://www.tuxera.com/mac/macfuse-core-10.5-2.1.9.dmg. If that doesn't work, you can use Paragon NTFS for Mac 9.0 which has been designed to work with Lion.

Windows 2008 R2 Folder assign permission "Read and Write" problem with *.doc file

I am a new one here,
I am sorry for any mistakes and also my english is so poor.
M Brother company runing Windows 2008 R2 as Active Directory...
We have folder Name: Admin
and in this folder, there are alot documents files as : *.doc, *.dwg, *.txt etc.....
All user accesing to these files and they can open to edit and save...
One day my brother want me to set Admin folder for all users just"Read and Write.." mean they still can open files to edit and save... but can't delete..
I did success with this..
But only one thing happen.. when they open *.doc file to edit and attempting to save, the message alert" access denide " and they can only "SAVE AS"...We don't want "Save as"
Could you show me how can we fix error with *.doc file while they trying to save? because it allow only save as.. but other files as *.text file or *.dwg they can save without problem..
Could expert here ever face this issues and fix by yourself, please share me with this..

Hi,
Office programs are specific. They will create a temp file when edit, then the temp file will be deleted when close. So Delete permission is needed for users to saving Office files like Excel/Word.

How to read and write Unicode text with MS Access?

Hi all, I'm new to Java, so please forgive me if my question is too ... ^_^
I'm writing a small program that read and write data with MS Access. However, when I insert Unicode text into the database, it has wrong encoding like this "h?y l? n?m".
Please tell me how to fix this.

I myself do not use MS Access, but a PreparedStatement is in general the best option.
You can set parameters in the SQL which then get converted and even protected against SQL injection hacking.

How do I make Read and Write 10 Gold work with Firefox? I have the latest Firefox 10.0.1 but it keeps saying "Please upgrade your version of Mozilla Firefox. The minimum version supported by Read&Write is version 3.0."

Hi,
You must suffer from buffer busy waits.
When a buffer is updated, the buffer will be latched, and other sessions can not read it or write it.
You must have multiple sessions reading and writing that one block.
Recommendation 2 results in fewer records per block, so less chance multiple sessions are modifying and reading 1 block. It will also result in a bigger table.
The recommendation doesn't make sense for tablespaces with segment storage management auto, as for those tablespaces pctfree does not apply.
Buffer busy waits will also occur if the blocksize of your database is set too high.

Read and Write iDVD trouble with backed up iDVD project

Hey guys, I need to open an iDVD project file within my time machine backups for a previously existing user on an external backup hard drive.
When I click it to open I get this message: "An error occurred while loading the project. This project seems to be write-protected and can't be opened."
I've tried right clicking on the file, selecting 'Get info' and changing administrators and 'everyone' to read and write but no luck. Any ideas, suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Now I see I missed the wording of the "file not writeable" message, which doesn't sound like a permissions issue. That sounds like it's either not compatible (ie, not for the same version of iDVD), or corrupted.
If you haven't changed versions, try a +*Verify Disk+* on your internal HD, per #A5 in [Time Machine - Troubleshooting|http://web.me.com/pondini/Time_Machine/Troubleshooting.html] (or use the link in *User Tips* at the top of this forum).
