Read from formsweb.cfg
Hello,
Is it possible to read a parameter from formsweb.cfg file? What I want to do is to read the width and height for the Applet so I'll be able to center the "canvases and LOV"
Any ideas please?
Thanks!
Hi,
you could do this easily using a JavaBean in Forms. If you don'tg want to use Java, then you could create user parameters in Forms e.g. app_width, app_height and use it in the "otherparams" argument like follows:
otherparams=app_width=%width% app_height=%height%
Make sure that you set the otharparams argument after defining the width and height for the applet.

How can read/write FORMSWEB.CFG & DEFAULT.ENV file entries programatically?I guess you cannot. There is an enhancement request to get the name of the config-section as a GET_APPLICATION_PROPERTY.
What you could do is add extra parameter(s) to your form and pass the necessary formsweb.cfg parameters in this form parameter. See Get formsweb.cfg section name in Forms for more info and an example. -
How to make firefox use adobe reader from mozila.cfg
Hello,
I'm using FF 24.4 (enterprise version). I need to configure FF to open PDF files with Adobe Reader and not from plugin. I need to do it for very large number of users. So I suppose it should be done from mozila.cfg, but I can't find the right configuration. Please help.You would at least disable the built-in PDF Viewer (pdfjs.disabled pref)
If you do not want to use a plugin in Firefox the you need plugin.disable_full_page_plugin_for_types to include application/pdf as well.<br />
*https://support.mozilla.org/kb/disable-built-pdf-viewer-and-use-another-viewer<br />
You can also disable the Adobe PDF plugin (plugin.state.nppdf = 0)
Should users be able to change this choice?
<pre><nowiki>//
lockPref("pdfjs.disabled", true);
lockPref("plugin.disable_full_page_plugin_for_types", "application/pdf");
lockPref("plugin.state.nppdf", 0);</nowiki></pre> -

Thanks!Is get_application_property(display_width/height) any use ?
If not, you could read the file using TEXT_IO. I don't know whether using pl/sql to loop through the file to find the relevant line would be very efficient. It might be better to do a host('grep -i ... > another_file) first (assuming unix). It might also be rather difficult to find the correct entry if your formsweb.cfg has named config sections. The file path might also be a problem if Oracle decide to move it in a later version. -
How to Alias of formsweb.cfg file from Forms runtime
Hi Guru
I m using Forms10g Developer. To run the forms we use an Alias in the configaration file formsweb.cfg. Can I get this alias name programmatically from the forms runtime? If it its possible then please tell me How?
Thanks in advance.
MokaremI afraid. I think it can't be possible as far as form built in's are concerned.
Because whenn you launch your form form in your browser, then at that stage only you specify the alias.
or what you can do, search for the alias name in formsweb.cfg during form runtime.
You have do do some pl/sql coding for that :)
1) Call your formsweb.cfg from application server using webutil.transferhost_to_client.
2) serach for the string (use text_io package,read and search in the file.)
Hope this will help !! -
Application Server not reading formsweb.cfg
Hi all,
I've installed Apps Fusion middleware Version 12.1 on RHEL 3.3.
I'm able to access forms through direct path like
http://appshr:7778/forms/frmservlet?form=Holiday_master.fmx
but when i try to access using alias like below it gives me error FRM :40010 can not read Form abcd
http://appshr:7778/forms/frmservlet?form=abcd
I've set most of the environmental Veriable but still error persists...
I've had setup same Environment for same machine but OS was Windows Server 2003 R2 and it is worked/ing fine.
But not getting any idea where i messed up here in Linux?
any ideas will be appreciated.
Regards!Thanks for the reply.
We tried the other what you told *<DOMAIN_DIR>/servers/WLS_FORMS/stage/formsapp/11.1.1/formsapp/config.* but we didn't find any file there.

How to set image source path in formsweb.cfg file in forms 11g
Hi,
I had written HTML code in the formsweb.cfg file in forms 11g. In the below code i am unable to retrive image file(i.e., .gif, .jpeg) from the server or local machine.
In the below HTML code i set image source in the image tag as below:
<img src="E:\Oracle\Middleware\Oracle_FRHome1\tools\web\html\agilis-life-new11_04.GIF"
Is this correct path to fetch the images from the server or local machine .
Please help me out how to set path for image in html or is there any alternate process to retrive images.

We call the working directory as context, so inside the context root along with WEB-INF, maintain a folder with name img and put all the images in that directory.
You can use either .\<image_folder> or the optimum way would be (if you are using JSPs) to use getContext() method and traverse accordingly.
FYI,,, using getContext() will give you context root directory, from there it is as simple as accessing any other folder.
Hope this answers your question.

Only display first form URL in formsweb.cfg . mutiple URL does not work
Hi Friends,
I have 4 form application with 4 URL.
app. server as 10g in window 2003.
URL like as:
http://salerpt.com/forms/frmservlet?config=emis-srmenu
fmx file Location as C:\OraMid\forms\salerpt-Forms fmx name as srmenu.fmx in same directory
fmb file location as C:\OraMid\forms\salerpt-Forms_source fmx name as srmenu.fmb in same directory
# Single Sign-On OID configuration parameter
oracle_home=C:\OraMid
in formweb.cfg file
baseHTMLjinitiator=basejini.htm
workingDirector : workingDirectory= blank. but C:\OraMid\forms\salerpt-Forms right now
# Forms runtime argument: which form module to run
##form=test.fmx
## i moved bottom section of form section in here and before
##line as Forms runtime argument: database connection details
comment two line
#jinit_exename=jinit.exe
#jinit_mimetype=application/x-jinit-applet;version=1.3.1.22
I create 4 sections as
form=srmenu.fmx
width=1200
height=700
pageTitle=Sale Information System (SIS)
form=regsale.fmx
form=salefinincial.fmx
form=rptinfo.fmx
However it only display first srmenu form interface that i put in( 4 different URL. only display first URL)
It seems that one formsweb.cfg, it doesn not support multip form setting application.

What should I need to do? I think that i miss some set up in configuration.
I am waiting for your help!

# formsweb.cfg defines parameter values used by the FormsServlet (frmservlet)
# This section defines the Default settings. Any of them may be overridden in the

9i default TNS/DB in formsweb.cfg
I can't seem to make any use of "userid" work on the iAS middletier.
It's as if I can't override the basic userid setting: I can't do it in a named config and I can't do it if I put it in the URL. No matter what I do I'm forced to enter username, password and database. It's as if the use of userid just gets ignored. I can easily change userid when I run forms directly from 9iDS, it's just on the iAS it doesn't work.
Basically I need to be able to specify a 9i equivalent of putting "set LOCAL=MY_DB.WORLD" in a .bat file in the 6i fat client mode, ie. specify only the default database to be used so that the users don't have to enter that explicitly at logon. However, I can't find any documentation how this is done - all examples just say "userid=user/pass@<your_db>".
So I also need some sort of documentation that lists ALL possible commands in the formsweb.cfg, but I've been unable to find the complete reference guide for that.
Sincerely,
Jesper Vad Kristensen

all parameters that are understood by the formsweb.cfg file are listed un the System and user section. In Oracle10g Forms we also added comments to describe their individual meanings.
1. create a named configuration for your application and add
# assuming orcl is your database tnsnames name)
userid=@orcl
2. In your Forms application, using an on-logon trigger
BEGIN
LOGON_SCREEN;
message(get_application_property(username||'@'||get_application_property(connect_string));
LOGON(get_application_property(username ||'@'||get_application_property(connect_string),get_application_property(password),true);
END;
If you want to also specify teh username so that he only needs to enter the password, you can pass userid=scott@orcl in the URL
Note that Oracle9iDS had a bug on Windows2000 that prevented the servlet from reading URL parameters. This problem is solved within Patch1.

FRM-40010 error: Cannot read from .... .fmx
FRM-40010 error: Cannot read from ......... .fmx
Hi everyone,
In my formsweb.cfg file, i have an entry
[iapp]
userid=login/login@db
form=Invlogin.fmx
I attempted to launch my application from the desktop by clicking an icon that points to the URL
http://myapp:8888/forms90/f90servlet?config=iapp
and i received a FRM-40010: "Cannot read from Invlogin.fmx" error.
When i moved the file Invlogin.fmx from my development folder to the
C:\Ora9iDS\forms90 folder, the form is displayed.
What's going on and how do i get the f90servlet to look in a particular location and not just C:\Ora9iDS\forms90 as it appears to be doing.
I have included the path to my development folder in the FORMS90_PATH setting both in the registry and in the default.env file but no luck.
Thanks.Stephen,
does your development folder has a name with a blank in it (or one of the parent directories?). If yes then locate it in a path with no blanks. There is a know problem with blanks in path names.

Formsweb.cfg - background resets following form navigation
I'm running Forms 10g Release 2 on Windows.
I have set up background in the formsweb.cfg file to use a lightgray.gif file. When I open my application the background is light gray as expected however as soon as I navigate away from the first form the background changes to the default dark gray and stays that colour. I'm using jinitiator and seperateFrame=false
Any ideas what's going on ?Try clearing the browser cache, or force a read every time.

Otherparams in Url and in formsweb.cfg
Hello.
There is a way to use the otherparams in url without substitute the one defined in formsweb.cfg?
For estance I have in formswebcfg defined the "term" parameter. If I need to user otherparams=myparam=myvalue this one also cancel the "term" param
Thanks in advanceYour statement is unclear. However, you can only pass one value for any one parameter. If you have a parameter with a value preset in formsweb.cfg (i.e. myparam=myvalue), you can override it by changing it in the URL. The url entry will take precedence over the value in the formsweb.cfg
If you are suggesting that by passing in your own custom param/value for otherparams is ignore the presets, this can be corrected. Do the following:
1. In formsweb.cfg, locate where "otherparams" is configured.
2. Add your custom parameter to the list. For example (I have removed a few from the default just to make it more readable):
otherparams=query_only=%query_only% quiet=%quiet% record=%record% tracegroup=%tracegroup% log=%log% term=%term% myparam=%myparam%Note how your parameter has been added to the end.
3. To pass your new param and value on the url, simply add it without the "otherparams=" part. For example:
http://server:port/forms/frmservlet?form=myForm&myparam=123
You can see other examples of this in the formsweb.cfg. Look for the comments labeled, " +Sub argument for otherparams+ " -
Howto quote percent (%) in formsweb.cfg/HTMLbeforeForm
Hello,
I would like to embed an iframe in basejini.htm/basejpi.htm. Doing this by setting
HTMLbeforeForm=<iframe src="frame.html" name="frame" width="100%"></iframe>
works almost perfectly, but "width=100%" doesn't work, since any occurrences of "%" are substituted when delivering basejini.htm/basejpi.htm to the browser.
I tried a lot to escape the %, doubling it and quoting it with ' an " - nothing works.
Is there any way to escape the % so that the resulting iframe is sized relative to the width of the parent window?Jesper,

Any changes in formsweb.cfg ?
Hi all,
if I use Sun java plugin instead of Jinit,
is there any changes in formsweb.cfg ?
Please help
thanks in advanceCraig,
It is a wide-spread misunderstanding in the Forms world how to configure the SUN plug-in. This is due to SUN changing the specs very often.
The following is to say about jpi_classid and jpi_mimetype:
jpi_classid:
is ignored by Mozilla-like browsers (e.g. Firefox), and is only relevant for IE.
For IE you can specify an exact version in the classid or a version family (as shown in your example, using the FFFF). However, the latter notation only works for SUN plug-in 1.6.0.10 or higher. Specifying an exact version, however, always starts the latest available version (behaviour from version 1.5.0.9 on), so even if you specify a 1.4 version (the default config) it will start 1.6.0.x if you have installed that. With the FFFF notation you can force the latest installed version of the 1.4 or 1.5 family, as long as you also have installed a 1.6 version.
Note that SUN plug-in version is NOT SUN JRE version. From the SUN plug-in you can still run on JREs of other versions. This must, however, be specified in property JAVA_VERSION (which is not in the supplied base_jpi.htm of Oracle).
jpi_mimetype:
The attribute jpi-version is NOT supported anymore from version 1.5.0.9 on. You should omit it according to SUN documentation. It should certainly be omitted when your users use Firefox, because otherwise they need to have the exact version you specify here, which is highly undesirable, because Java auto-update would then break the application (SUN hates suppliers certifying for only a specific patch version, they work hard to guarantee backward compatibility, and those suppliers are just denying this nice feature).
So, always specify: jpi_mimetype=application/x-java-applet
(without the jpi-version attribute). -
