Read ibooks in itunes in macbook pro

Hi! I'm an happy user of macbook pro and I enjoy itunes very much.
As most of mac users, i prefer to have one app that does most of the things instead than 200 apps unlinked doing part of the job.
Indeed i was very happy to see that it's possible to buy and organize books in itunes since i clicked on them and... discovered that i can't read on my macbook pro!
Will apple release an update or a plugin? I know that there are specific pads for reading books but i will enjoy being able to use also my macbook!
(p.s. i downloaded stanza and there is no practical book collection, i downloaded calibre and it creates too many files for each book you add and book reading is with only one column very unpleasant view and nor the 1st nor the 2nd can sync with itunes library.........)
help °_ °

It certainly seems that iTunes on the Mac is technologically very capable of reading an e-book purchased from the iTunes store. I mean if you click a purchased e-book from he iTunes store the preview will show up and if you double-click the preview you can clearly read one page of the content. You can click the play button and if this were an unprotected e-book an application like Preview would allow you to page thru the content. But for purchased e-books on iTunes nothing will happen. You can try to open the .epub file on Stanza and it will open up with gibberish.
So as long as you use iTunes to manage and organize any ebook format that not purchased from the iTunes store that is also not DRM protected, then all works well.
So it seems pretty clear that it's either a legal restriction or a business strategy of Apple's to restrict reading of iTunes store purchased e-books to only iphones, ipads and ipods. The more I look into DRM protected e-books in general versus plain old printed books, something starts to taste very bad. Take a look at the following links:
http://pogue.blogs.nytimes.com/2009/07/17/some-e-books-are-more-equal-than-other s/
http://www.eff.org/wp/digital-books-and-your-rights
This suggests that Apple like other ebook publishers may also retain the right to delete your e-book at any time without advanced notice, and that they may have the right to spy on what page you are reading, what your are highlighting, your bookmarks and notes.

  • Reading books in iTunes on MacBook Pro

Is there a program that plays books downloaded to iTunes Books folder that may have origionallly downloaded on an iPad?

no.  iBooks are only for iDevices..iPad, iTouch..use the Amazon Kindle App from now on.  Read "more like this"--------> for more info.

I am confused about something.  How do I read a book on my MacBook Pro?  I can't find the iBook app anywhere, which is what I use on my iPad.  The book I want to read is in my iTunes but I can't click on it.  Some of my iBooks show up in my iTunes but they are "grayed" out.  The only books that respond in iTunes are audiobooks and that's not what I'm looking for.  Is this a stupid question?

Nevermind - I answered my own question, which is I CAN"T READ ANY BOOKS I purchased in iBooks on my MacBook Pro.  If I want to read on my mac I have to use Kindle or Nook.  Which means any book I've already purchased through iBooks has to be read on my iPad.  Kind of a drag because there are times when it's more convenient for me to read while I'm sitting with my Mac.

    Copy the entire itunes folder.

Why can't I read a book purchased through iPhone ibook app on my MacBook Pro? Also, is there any way to print pages from book?

In general if you want to read paid-for ebooks on your Mac, you need to buy them from one of the other sources like Kindle, Nook, Kobo, or Googlebooks and use the free OS X and iOS reader apps which they provide instead of iBooks.

The sound input going to the mic is not going to pipe through the speakers like that.  It doesn't do it because it would cause a feedback loop on itself.  The mic input will take sound and output it to a program or to another pathway (like a VoIP or Facetime call, etc.) but it won't behave like a Karaoke machine if that's what you're thinking.

    Hey Justin-O,
Thanks for the question, and welcome to Apple Support Communities.
If iTunes in the Cloud is available in your country, you can remove the music and re-download from your purchase history:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store

  • When I am listening to the radio (streaming through itunes) my macbook pro will log me out, quitting all the applications I have running (often firefox, word processing, itunes, etc). Why?

When I am listening to the radio (streaming through itunes) my macbook pro will log me out, quitting all the applications I have running (often firefox, word processing, itunes, etc). Why?
It's very frustrating and I don't understand why it happens. It might happen other times, but I notice it the most when I'm streaming the radio through itunes, though I think it's also happened when I'm streaming music or shows from NPR, so I don't actually know if it's an itunes thing, or an internet thing? Or just my computer being stupid?  But how can I fix it?
    Thanks!

My best guess at this point is a problem wwith 10.5.8
It seems clear to me that sometimes, seemingly randomly, software will access the video card (flash player, quicktime, Safari's HTML5 video player, etc) and it will cause a freeze and then log out.
However - it could just be video card + processor under load.
This didnt happen before 10.5.8 and I'm thinking it's not the new 27" display causing the issue.
I'm going to attempt to find time to revert back to 10.5.0 and then combo update back up to 10.5.7 which may be difficult as our IT is remote and we don't have access to Snow Leopard discs.
I may just have to bring my own in.

  • HT1386 selected itunes on macbook pro will not sync to iPad

selected itunes on macbook pro will not sync to ipad

Might there be an ownership issue --- such as:
Might the tunes that do not sync to the iPad have been purchased using a different Apple ID and password than are either used on the iPad or authorized on the computer's iTunes?
Remember, purchased music is protected.  It cannot be indiscriminately shared.

  • Everything is updated!!  iPhone, iPad, iTunes and MacBook Pro...  All I am trying to do is drag content from my iTunes Library to the devices.  iTunes gets stuck EVERY single time!  What usually triggers the Non-Sense is when I am adding a 2nd file!

    Why does iTunes SUCK??
    1) Many items greyed out in the menu bar, for well over 2 years, maybe more!
    2) I Can't drag more than one piece of content from your iTunes library to any device (iPhone, iPad)
If you do it gets stuck for HOURS and HOURS in "Preparing To Update" and the little activity circle never completes, ever!!
I used to be able to drag over 1000 tunes, movies, etc. go have breakfast come back and it would all be on my device!!
Can't do it anymore, one song at a time, maybe an album at a time, or one movie, and that is it!!
If you do a 2nd item the other items stop loading and never continue!!
This is so BAD, I don't understand how they don't have this fixed yet!!
Please tell me I am not the only one!!
...and If I am tell me how to fix it!
    Very appreciated,
    Joe

  • I have read that new purchases of macbook pro will get free upgrade to LION OS. When and how do I go about this?

I have read that new purchases of macbook pro will get free upgrade to LION OS. When and how do I go about this?

    http://www.apple.com/pr/library/2011/06/06lion.html
The Mac OS X Lion Up-To-Date upgrade is available at no additional charge via the Mac App Store to all customers who purchased a qualifying new Mac system from Apple or an Apple Authorized Reseller on or after June 6, 2011. Users must request their Up-To-Date upgrade within 30 days of purchase of their Mac computer. Customers who purchase a qualifying Mac between June 6, 2011 and the date when Lion is available in the Mac App Store will have 30 days from Lion’s official release date to make a request.
Currently that's the only information available. I suspect more will be posted as we get closer to launch.

  • USB-3 card reader that is compatible with MacBook Pro (Retina) and Mountain Lion

Can anybody recommend a USB-3 based CompactFlash memory card reader that works with the MacBook Pro (Retina) and Mountain Lion (or, at least, Lion)?
    Thanks in advance...

Thanks for your reply, Clinton. But I already have two readers that are USB-2 compatible. Now I need the one like I described above. I am using only the fastest CF cards available.
I have read some user reports (on Amazon) on two readers relevant to my needs - SanDisk and Lexar - but I'm still not sure whether they are fully compatible with the Retina MacBook and Mountain Lion. As a matter of fact, I doubt it...

  • Cloning Leopard iBook G4 onto new MAcBook Pro

Is there some way to transfer everything on a Leopard iBook onto a new MacBook Pro in one quick operation? I heard about a feature which does this through a firewire connection but didn't catch the nomenclature, so my searches have been fruitless so far. Would appreciate it if someone could point me in the right direction.

Hi! You can use the migration assistant.
Using Migration Assistant to transfer files
If you need to transfer all your files and important settings from an older Mac to a new one, and both computers are using Mac OS X, you can use Migration Assistant.
Before using Migration Assistant, make sure that both computers have Mac OS X installed and that you have a FireWire cable to connect the two computers.
To transfer files using Migration Assistant:
From the Finder on your new computer, open Migration Assistant, located in the Utilities folder in your Applications folder.
Follow the onscreen instructions to connect a FireWire cable and choose the files you want to transfer.
Applications sometimes fail to work properly using the migration assistant and have to be re-installed.
