Read Iview component profile from Portal Service

Is there any way this can be done?

We have a situation where we need to define  application parameters that is to be accessed across different iviews and a portal service. These application parameters can be   modified by content administrators if it's at an iview level. We are trying to see if this can be done without  the use of system landscapes which is available only to System administrators.

  • Calling a abstract portal component from portal service

    Hi
    Can i access a abstract portal component from portal service?
    My requirement is i have a method called getsessionID in portal service. My portal service is enabled as a webservice. Who ever consumes my webservice they will call this method.
    This method in portal service should call a method in abstract portal component to return the session id of the user.
    is this possible.
    Thanks in advance
    Kishore

    Hi Kishore,
           This is impossible. The AbstractPortalComponent is a servlet and it can only be executed via URL. It is easy to execute the component via url but you have to pass the logon information. Also it will run under a user context that you have specified(while passing the logon information) when calling the url. I think you ought to consider a different approach.

  • Where to find  Portal WebService from Portal Service

    Hello,
    I've managed to create a portal service. i would now like to use it as a web service.
    I've found document describing the process, however when try to create a portal object I'm proposed with the choice for portal service, Portal Componant and KM Componant , but not the needed "Web Service from portal Service" .
    Does anyone know what you have to get/add/activate to have this option ?
    i'm on NWDS version 7.0.14
    regards
    Guillaume PATRY

    Hi Guillame,
    To expose your Portal Service as a Web Service, follow the steps :
    1). Select the project containing the Portal Service you wish to expose as a web service.Generate Portal Web Service with PDK Wizard by choosing Portal Web Service From Portal Service.
    2). Select the interface by clicking the browse button.You can only expose the interface that are defined in your Portal Service Project.
    3). Select the method you want to expose to the web service.WSDL files will be generated.
    4). The portalapp.xml will be automatically updated with the WSDL entries.
    5). Deploy the Portal Service on Portal.
    6). View the Web Service on Portal in the following path :
    System Administration --> Support --> Portal Runtime --> SOAP Admin --> Web Services
    7). The generated WSDL can be viewed with the URL :
    http://<server>/irj/servlet/prt/soap/com.sap.portal.prt.soap.<servicename>.
    Hope this does solves your problem.
    Do award points if found helpful.

  • Portal Webservice from Portal Service

    Hello community...
    I'm trying to build a Portal Webservice from a Portal Service, but the wizard doesn't appear in my Portal Application Object. There are only Portal Components, Portal Services and a RF Component Wizard. Are there any options configuring the NWDS to show the other wizards like the "Portal Webservice from Portal Service" one or do I have an old version of the nwds (7.0.14)?

    Hi Ozzie,
    in newer NWDS versions this wizard doesn't exist any more.
    [http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70/helpdata/en/1f/4554426dd13555e10000000a1550b0/frameset.htm|http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70/helpdata/en/1f/4554426dd13555e10000000a1550b0/frameset.htm] describes how to create a web service from a portal service.
    I personally didn't create a web service by this description however. I just created a normal Java class and created a Web Service out of this class (using EAR deployment).

  • Reading/Writing the "wpproperty" from portal LDAP

    Hi,
    We want to read/write the "wpproperty" from portal LDAP. I found the code for EP60.
    IUser user = request.getUser();
    String itar[] = user.getAttribute("com.sap.security.core.usermanagement","wpproperty");
    newUser.setAttribute("com.sap.security.core.usermanagement",
    "wpproperty", value);
    Does anybody have an example for <b>EP50</b> code?
    Kind regards,
    Onno

    I think the answers you got over [url http://forum.java.sun.com/thread.jsp?thread=524137&forum=54]here were excellent. You should now know that Java is a terrible language for this kind of thing. You would be much better off with some kind of a native language like C++. Even then, you are going to have to get heavily into the internal Windows system to get what you want from another application and I can't even imagine what you would have to go through to get it out of IE.
    Anyway, I doubt you are going to find what you are looking for in the 'New To Java Technology' forum. You might be able to find something like this if you found a 'Hacker Forum' with people on it who had spent the time to find out how to steal information from other programs (probably at least a couple of years) and didn't mind if they got invovled with someone who might be talking to the FBI shortly.
    Your only other option would be to spend the year or two it would take you to learn enough to do it yourself.
    Good Luck.

  • Session from Portal Service

    how can I get the HTTP session from within a portal service?
    - Frank

    You can't. You have to pass the request variable from another component to portal service and then grab http session from it.

  • Access component profile from AbstractCommand

    Hello
    I have created an AbstractCommand and I wonder if I can access the component profile properties of the iview that has called this command.
    I have tried this :
    IPortalComponentRequest request = (IPortalComponentRequest)                                         this.getProxy().getDynPage().getPageContext().getRequest();
    String StartUri = request.getComponentContext().getProfile().getProperty("StartUri");
    but doesn´t work.
    Thanks in advance.

    hello Praveen
    I get 'pcd:portal_content/every_user/general/eu_role/com.sap.km.home_ws/com.sap.km.hidden/com.sap.km.urlaccess/com.sap.km.Navigation'
    which is not the iview from where i´m calling this command.
    What am i doing is the following. I have programmed a command that redirects me to another iview and i would like to pass to this redirected iview a parameter so that it knows which iview has called and when it finishes it can go back.
    I know that i can put this parameter when the command is created, but I don´t like the idea. For example. If I have to call this iview from 3 different iviews i would need 3 different Command definitions and One Different Layout set for every command. The ideal solution would be that the iview could pass a parameter to the command so that I only have to define 1 command.
    I don´t know if i have explained myself very well.

  • Pass parameters to iView (VC Model) from Portal

    Hello All,
    In VC, we have a model that has a start point as input with few input parameters.
    As per the WIKI note https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/wiki?path=/display/vc/passing%2bvalues%2bvia%2burl
    We were able to make the VC model read the parameters from the URL. Once we got this working, we created a new page in Portal and we added the VC model as an iview to the page.
    Is there a way i could add the parameters as a part of configuration of the page or the iview in the portal?
    I would like to know if it's possible to pass the value of InputParameter to iView from portal ?
    We tried setting the isolation of the iview to URL, to utilize the parameters property. But we are not able to figure out how to pass parameters from here
    Any help would be highly appreciated!
    THanks,
    Naveen

    I am using a scenario where a VC form on the front page of our portal sends values to a separate page where the search results are displayed. The url is made up of the PCD id and the neccessary parameters. The target page is displayed as a popup. This works fine. The url looks like this:
    http://server:50000/irj/servlet/prt/portal/prteventname/Navigate/prtroot/pcd!3aportal_content!2fint.agra.f0000!2fint.agra.f0060!2fd0001!2fframeworkPages!2fint.agra.p0100!2fcom.sap.portal.innerpage!2fcom.sap.portal.contentarea?NavigationTarget=navurl%3A%2F%2F9c506d0cfa29ad6f8d27790117c4c622&_paramsXmlStr_=<Params><Row%20FSTNAME_M='henning'%20LASTNAME_M='strand'></Params>;
    Does this describe a similar scenario as you want?
