Read-only Collaborator can edit Contract Document properties

We have a master agreement with a read-only collaborator. The security profile for this collaborator role is identical to the stock "Document Reviewer" profile, i.e. only View is set.
However this supposedly read-only collaborator is able to edit Contract Document properties. They click on the Contract Documents tab, then drill into a Contract Document, and then click on the Edit button. From there, they have the ability to change fields such as Name, Descrpition, Effective Date, etc. They cannot change or delete the actual file attachment itself.
Is this an issue with CLM, or is there some security setting we are missing somewhere? Please tell me this is not working as designed ..
thanks.

Hi Terry,
According to your description, my understanding is that you don’t want the yollow bar notification to display when you open Access documents.
This issue seems to be about the client application. Please compare the followings with the things that you did:
 1.Open the documents
 2.Click File->Options->Trust Center->Trust Center Settings
3.Click Protected View, unselect ‘Enable Protected View for originating from the Internet’
4.Click Message Bar, select ‘Never show information about blocked content’
5.Click Macro Settings, select ‘Disable all macros without notification’
In addition, as this issue is about Office, I commend you create a new thread in Office forum, more experts will assist you with this issue.

  • How to disable the 'Read Only' notification on an Access document when it is opened from within a document library (SP 2010)

    Hello,
OK, so I am currently having issues with opening MS Access documents from SP 2010. I have taken an existing database and uploaded it into a document library. Now, when I open this document I get the prompt to open it in either 'Read Only' or 'Edit'.
When I select 'Read Only' I can view the document, however I get the 'Read Only - Save As' notification when the document opens up. I have configured the document both from the source (on the original file) and from within SP to disable notifications - (from
    within the Trusted Options selection)
Deleted the document and uploaded it again, and the 'yellow bar' notification is still appearing.
I want to disable the 'Save As' function, or even hide this when the document is opened. Is this at all possible??

  • Wiki "Read Only" users can read & write

I am looking to use the built in Wiki software on our Snow Leopard mac mini server. The wiki is meant to be private with one user able to read and write and another account that can read only. After selecting "read only" the user can still read & write. The read only account is not an administrator so I am not sure why they are not read only, could someone point me in the right direction?
    Thanks for your help!

    Hi,
According to your post, my understanding is that users with read only permissions can't see custom Master Page and Managed Metadata Navigation SharePoint 2013.
I suggest to customize the ClientObject model code to retrieve info with elevated privileges and then re-deployed the master page.
Here is a similar thread for you to take a look at:
    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/bd7aa817-114a-46ae-a08a-71d903227ce0/sharepoint-2010-custom-master-page-and-read-only-permission-issue?forum=sharepointadminprevious
If it doesn’t work, please check more information about the custom Master Page, such as whether it contain content like web parts that with permission limited, or whether you have any changes
    to the read permission group.
In addition, please check the SharePoint ULS log to find more information, , the ULS log file is in the location: C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web Server Extensions\15\LOGS
You can check the ULS log by the methods here:

  • Deleting Digital Signature and Read Only Features Become Edit-able fields again

I have set up a tiered exceptions for an Adobe PDF document.  The first person signs and certain fields become read only.  The next person to sign in the tier signs the document and if he/she Clears Signature then the document reverts back to all fields becoming EDIT-ABLE again--even after the first person in the tier signed and their signature is still present.  I need this NOT TO BE THE CASE.  The document is set so that the employee can fill the form out and upon signing all fields--except those I set with EXCEPTIONS--should become UN-EDIT-ABLE.  If the Supervisor gets the document, signs and then decides to CLEAR HIS SIGNATURE--the employee's sections become EDIT-ABLE again.  This defeats the purpose of the employees' signature.  I need the document to revert back to only the fields the Supervisor had access to if he/she CLEARS there signature.
    Thanks

I'm unsure. This is just a form that I downloaded from my department website:

I was just trying to fill in the form and electronically sign it, that's all.

  • Read only filesystem when editing files

I just installed installed arch linux and when i try to edit and save a config file   it says something like, "can't save file: read only filesystem". How do I change that?

Ok, I think I know what the problem is now, / is not in /etc/fstab. The new question is, how do i get it there w/o reinstalling everything?

  • I only create Read Only folders can't set permissions for any file but mine

My issue is I have 25 users and an X-Serve and it seems like all the users
do not have the same permissions. More specifically if a user creates a
folder on the server only that user can access it. This is the same if the
user creates the folder on there desktop and then copies the files to the
server. But if they copy a "read only" folder or file (this happens more
with files) to there desktop and then they open the file save it and place
it back on the server there is no problem.
I also, have a user that whenever she creates a folder it automatically
set's itself to read only. No matter whether she copies from her desktop to
the server or visa versa. Every folder she creates is protected this way
here settings are all the same as everyone else. So I'm not sure if she is
unique or if the settings for my users are incorrect.
I did not set up the server or the user's so I'm really trying to catch up
quick. We are really suffering in that it totally slow's things down almost
to a crawl in some cases. I really hope you can help me out with this I've
attached some screen shot's and the X-Serve system profiler for background.

  • How do I change permissions for West Dig USB HD, how said "read only" and can't use it.

I have a West Did Hard drive from my PC that want to use on my Macbook.  Looking at the permissions said "read only".  I tried to move files on the drive and could not when attached to my Macbook.  Where do I change these settings that will allow me to use this drive.  Thanks for any help.
This is my first Mac so do not know much about the Mac process, moving slow and steady.
    Donco

Was this drive in use with a windows machine previously?
If yes then I would guess that it is formatted as NTFS, Mac's can not write to NTFS discs.
If you have sufficient space on your Mac copy the disk contents to a folder on your desktop and reformat the drive for use with Mac and Windows, then put the files back.
Post back with some answers and I'll try to guide you through this

  • User with Read-Only permission can write

    Hi,
I have two Macs on a local network. I am sharing a folder on Mac-A and would like users to have read-only access to it. It is important that users cannot modify the data in this folder.
    On Mac-A:
Selecting System Preferences->Sharing->File Sharing, I added the folder to "Shared Folders". Next, I added the user account "bob" and assigned Read-Only access. User bob is not an admin and shows up as a "Sharing Only" account under Accounts.
    On Mac-B:
I connect to Mac-A as user bob and I can see the shared folder. I then am able to create and delete files in the "Read-Only" share. I've verified using File->Get Info that user bob does indeed have only read access.
What am I doing wrong and what can I do to enforce read-only access?
    Thanks!

Maybe your Mac-B user account has the same (short) user name
as your Mac-A user account. Matching user names or short user names
could make the Mac-B account able to Read & Write to your shared folder.
Because I think you can log in with short user names to a server
as well. I guess passwords should be matching as well,
and perhaps the user ID's (System Preferences -> Accounts
    -> right-click on user) also?
    Cheers,
    Vincent Verheyen.

  • Backup drive read only. Can I copy onto new backup drive?

It looks like my 500GB Maxtor drive Time Machine uses to back up has given up the ghost.  It has become a "read only" and disk utility can't repair it.  The error message said there's an invalid node structure.  Then it tells me to back up as many files as possiible, reformat the disk and restore the backed up files.
I will buy a new backup drive but I can't enter Time Machine.  Is there a way to get the old Time Machine files onto a new backup drive or are they gone forever?
I don't fancy reformating the the failed external hard drive and using that again because it's obviously clapped out.
Any and all advice much appreciated.

    Jane Garcia wrote:
I am able to access the folders but it has nothing past 2008, which I think must have been when I bought it.  It's as though everything since then has gone.
Is there any chance Data Rescue could pull up more recent files?  I haven't tried running Disk Repair from the startup disk.
please bear in mind that time machine automatically deletes old data if there is not enought free space to back up new data. i think buying a recovery software cannot fix this.
can you check how much free space is left on the disk?

  • Folders on NAS read-only. Can't change

I have a buffalo linkstation pro duo NAS. It is formatted in XFS.
It seems that randomly some folders have been changed to read-only, when they were previously read-write. I have one folder that is stuck in a read-only state. The folder contains some files from my XP machine. I wrote these files from the mac to the nas.
I am trying to delete the folder and cannot. I shutdown the mac, and accessed the NAS though my Windows laptop, and it wont let me take ownership. Any ideas on how to fix?

I had the same issue and figured out a solution.
    1. Create a folder in your user profile on the mac to mount a network share to. (Example: /chris/mount)
    2. Mount the network share to that folder you just created using this command in Terminal: mount -t smbfs//guest@<BUFFALONAS>/<SHAREDFOLDER> mount (replace <BUFFALONAS> with the IP address or hostname of your buffalo and replace <SHAREDFOLDER> with the smb share on the buffalo)
    3. In Terminal, change into the now locally mounted network share. (Example: cd /chris/mount)
    4. Run the following command in Terminal: chmod -R 777 ./
**Note: You will get an access denied error on any file that was created by a PC but all the files with "broken" permissions created by a Mac will be fixed.**
Hope this helps someone out there. I searched for a solution for months before figuring this out.

    Regards, Hitesh
Saving the file as read-only does not mean you cannot make changes, it merely means it is recommended that you open this file as read-only. Also using 'xlWorkbookNormal' is incorrect since this is basically the macro-free xml format. Use the 'xlOpenXMLWorkbookMacroEnabled'
instead. Now as far as not allowing the user to make changes you will need to protect each worksheet, as well as protect the workbook. So something like
    Sub ProtectWorkbook()
    ThisWorkbook.Protect Structure:=True, Password:="test123"
    Dim sh As Worksheet
    For Each sh In ThisWorkbook.Worksheets
    sh.Protect Password:="Test1234"
    Next sh
    End Sub

  • External drive now Read Only? Can't change after Lion installed.

I have several extenal drives attached. One has two partitions. One of the partitions is used as a SuperDuper Backup drive. SuperDuper couldln't find it now that I upgraded to Lion. I found that all my drives were changed to "Read Only" after the Lion update. I changed them back to "Read/Write" without a problem expect for the SD partition. It doesn't let me change from Read Only. Any ideas on correcting this?  Thanks.

Select that partition. Press COMMAND-I to open the Get Info window. At the bottom see if there is a checkbox labeled, "Ignore permissions on this volume." If the box is checked then first uncheck the box. Open the Terminal application in the Utilities folder. Enter the following at the prompt:
    sudo chown root:admin
Place a space after "admin" then drag the Desktop icon of the partition into the Terminal window. Press RETURN. Enter your admin password when prompted (it will not be echoed) and press RETURN again.

  • Strange read-only status upon opening a document

I have a MS Excel spreadsheet on the network. No one has it opened. Despite that when a person, who has all the rights for this file is trying to open it using Star Office 8 calc, it gets opened as read-only.
    What could cause that?

I've seen that before on Windows machines accessing SMB shares. Haven't found the root cause yet, but a reboot of the Windows box always seems to make the problem go away for awhile...

  • Can I catch "Document Properties" editing events?

My PDF files are all programmatically generated and I add some custom attributes at creation time. The end users, however, can always use the "Control-D | Custom" command to modify those attributes and/or add new ones. This is perfectly legitimate and allowed EXCEPT that they may input dates, and that's when there can be trouble.
My system always displays PDF dates in the typical standard US format:
    mm/dd/yyyy
However, following Adobe conventions the dates are internally stored as follows:
    CreationDate: D:20050412204711-05'00'
So... What I would like to do is catch the event in which the user types a date, and change it to the D:nnn-'nn' format before it gets written to disk.
Can that sort of event be caught by a plugin??
I guess I will need to place some sort of hook in the "Add" and "Change" buttons?
    TIA,
    -Ramon

    > Are you talking about the Advanced or Custom panels?
I am talking about the "Custom" panel.
AFAIK, anything that the user types in that panel, ends up being inserted in the PDF file literally, as a string.
I would hate having to tell my users:
"Oh guys, BTW, whenever you type a date, you have to type it like this:
    D:20050424100720-04'30'
In my apps, I have my own interfaces to enter metadata dates into my PDF files:
    (1) Programmatically, at file creation, the obscure format is irrelevant.
    (2) During GUI interaction, I use a date picker.
In fact, what I really would prefer to do is adding a date picker to the Acrobat "Custom Panel".
    Thanks,
    -Ramon
