  • Error when Read only permission set when filtering data before loading with Excel 2013 Addin

    Good afternoon :)
I have an MDS issue that is making me lose my mind.
I have some permission set to an Entity. It is a read only permission in the entity but I tried to put inside every field and same thing happen.
Every time an Entity has any kind of read only permission assigned to it or its fields, Excel Addin show an error when we try to load it. When Entity has more rows than the maximum rows in the Settings pane, it will show you an option to filter data. When
you try to use this filter, Excel show an error message but you can press OK and everything works fine.
    There is the message:
The thing user, my user do not want it :( And I don't know how to get rid of it.
Do anyone have an ideia on how to fix it ?
In the debug set of the addin, there is this message:

  • Could not save as - The file may be read-only or is already open in another application

Can anyone think of a reason why if I'm working locally on a CS3 Flash .fla on my C: drive that I would get the error:
Could not save as: C:\Users\John\Desktop\Project_File\ANNUAL REPORT RELEASE\01-19-11\report_stragegy.fla
The file may be read-only or is already open in another application. Save using a different name, or close the document and try again.
    I'm running Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit.
It happens sporadically. I haven't been able to find a reason why this error pops up when saving some of my .fla files!!
The files are not set to "read only" when I right click on them and choose 'Properties' in the Windows 7.
I found some somewhat similar situations with saving errors:

Sometimes I can save with a different file name. But sometimes I can't and start a new blank document and cut and paste from the one that won't save to the new untitled document.

  • New external harddrive already formatted as FAT32 for OSX

I have decided to purchase a new external harddrive already formatted as FAT32 for OSX for me to move files between my pc amd macbook. what would you recommend that is functional and not expensive-less than 150 bucks? 50 gigs would be sufficient for me. please advise.

    thanks guys!
which of these 3 would you recommend for my
purpose?as a photographer my purpose is moving back
and forth high rez photos (none in the 4g range
though) between my pc at work(dell XP intel 4 ) and
my new macbook at home. i have to pay for the EHD out
of my pocket. the advantage of the best buy options
would be i save on delivery since there is one close
    to home.
if i buy one of these could i just plug and play it
or do i have to do something more to make it Fat 32
and speak to my pc and mac?

This one needs an external power supply. I don't think you want to lug that back and forth to work with you.

Pricey for 40GB's but looks portable. Wish I knew if it was a 3.5" or 2.5" drive. If its a 3.5" it too will need an external power supply.
With Erik's comment in mind, this might be your best bet (my pick, budget in mind):

You might have to format any of the drives you purchase, but its no biggie

  • Getting my External HD out of "Read-Only" permission...

Ok, I just recently purchased my Mac used from my school, and because it has a marginally small Harddrive, I purchased an external drive to suppliment. But, after installing the device drivers, the HardDrive claims to be "Read Only" meaning that I can't store anything on it, defeating the purpose...Can anyone help me figure out how to change my permission settings on the Hard Drive so that I can use it? Thanks.
eMac   Mac OS X (10.3.9)   External Hard Drive

Select the disk in the Finder and choose Get Info from the File menu; next, check the disk's format.
If the disk's format is Windows NT Filesystem, use the Disk Utility in the /Applications/Utilities/ folder to erase the disk.
If the disk's format is MS-DOS, FAT32, or Mac OS Standard, look on the drive for a physical switch which might control the ability to write to the disk.
If the disk's format is UNIX File System or any Mac OS Extended variant, change the permissions in the Ownership & Permissions section of the Get Info window so you can write to the drive.

  • Read-only textbox and/or disable buttons in Infopath 2013

In a InfoPath 2013 custom list form, my requirement is to make textboxes read-only, disable buttons, and/or create new buttons so users can not update fields in a custom list once the user has updated data in the list. Basically after the user hits the 'save'
button so that the data is saved.
The requirement is not to set up custom permissions since my SharePoint administrator said I should find another option. This administrator said he does not see a reason for only an 'add' permission.
Thus can you tell me how to meet my requirements? Can you show me screen prints, pictures, or urls on how to solve the problem?

    Hi,
According to your description, you might want to prevent users from editing the existing items.
There are two workarounds I can provide as below:
As the first workaround, you can remove Ribbon from SharePoint InfoPath List Form via modifying the OOTB settings of InfoPath Web Part.
Here is a link about more details, you can use it as a reference:
    http://the-north.com/sharepoint/post/Remove-Ribbon-from-SharePoint-InfoPath-List-Form
As the second workaround, you can apply the CSS code below to your page, it will hide the “Edit Item” button in the Ribbon:
    <style type="text/css">
    #Ribbon\.ListItem\.Manage\.EditProperties-Large{display: none !important;}
    </style>

  • Read Only Permission on project site (PS 2013)

In Project Server 2010, if someone could see all projects, and had the “View Project Site” permission (basically the Executives group), you would end up with only Read rights on a project site.  You could view stuff, but not edit anything.
In Project Server 2013 we are having an issue with giving read only access to project sites. After comparing our customized groups/categories with the ‘out of the box’ Portfolio Viewers security permissions we have actually given our groups less permissions.
We want these users to be able to see all projects, but only have read only permissions on the project sites.  That is not happening.  The executives end up with contribute permissions similar to what a team member with assignments on a project
    would get.
    any feedback will be appreciated.

  • Strange behavior when Popup LOVs has read-only condition and Bug Report

    Hi,
I observed an inconsistent behavior of Popup LOVs when the read-only condition is true. In that case the defined lov query is used to map the internal value of the page item to the display value defined in the lov query.
What is the reason for this behavior? Because if the Popup LOV is in "edit mode" the page item value is just displayed without looking up the display value. The display value is just used for the popup lov. Mapping the value is normally a behavior of the popup key lov.
-> The result is that different values are displayed if the page item is in edit or read-only mode. That's not really the behavior someone would expect.
BTW, there seems to be a bug with "Display Extra Values" set to "Yes" in the case read-only is true. If the lookup doesn't return a value it just displays [ ], but because the property is set to yes it should display the value. The Popup Key Lov has the same bug.
Thanks for bringing some light into that behavior

I've added your comments to a task already in our queue to examine all item types for correct behavior in read-only mode. I've noticed the quirks with display extra values also.

  • Grant read only permission on my stored procedure.

I have a requirement like give reaonly access on my stored procedure to another user , not even execute permission on that steored procedure.
Could you please let us know the command ?

    Marwim wrote:
You can read the source of any PL/SQL code in dba_sourceBut that requires a priv such as select any dictionary to be granted. Why would you want to give a schema access to reading any and all source code in the database?
This is why I think it is important that the OP provides the reasons behind the question of granting read-only source code access.
Security is a critical component of software engineering. The basic security principle is to grant the absolute minimum privileges required to s/w and users to get the job done. Granting access to a schema read access to a dictionary view like DBA_SOURCE violates it.
If userB wants to see userA's source code - then why not have userA simply mail it to userB, or check the code into a common source code repository?

  • I am not able to use Firefox with Sharepoint - I can only open a file in read-only mode and cannot checkout the document and edit.

I would like to use Firefox with Sharepoint.
However, I am only able to open a file in "read only" mode whch means I cannot edit the document and save it. I am also not able to "check-out" a document in Sharepoint and edit it at the same time.

This may not work for everyone, but I solved this problem by clicking on the file name in sharepoint, not the document icon to the left of the name. This then brought up the various options, including checking out, editing, version history etc. It seems obvious but I have only just realised this!

  • Shared Computer over Ethernet is creating read-only files and folders

    Hi,
I have set up a ssecond mac connected to my G4 via ethernet connection. We are both using my mac as the main computter and both working from one folder on it. BUT when the second computer creates a folder or saves a job into this folder the permissions are set for them to 'read only'.
How do you make it so whatever they create is all read and write.
The second mac is logining is not as the administrator but as a normal user. I do not want them to have full access.

    Hello DH-Studio
Hi, this is still causing me problems, is there another way?
Sharepoints does work howerver the other way to do this that does not involve using UNIX commands is to run Server Software such as Mac OSX Server.
The 10 User licenced version is affordable and it has an excellent GUI called the Workgroup Manager which can setup sharepoints, users & groups permissions very easily. It has many other benefits.
Other than that their are UNIX commands such as umask. However I have no experience using umask and I understand it make global changes to your system. I would avoid using it.
You also could setup a crontab rule that changes the permissions on the shared folder every minute. In your terminal use the following commands
    sudo nano /etc/crontab
    You will then see
using your arrow key move the cursor down to area indicated in my example then enter the following information
    */1 <press tab twice> * <tab> * <tab> * <tab> * <tab> root <tab> chmod -R 777 /shared
it should look like the following
replace "/share" with the actual path to your sharedfolder
Then close the file with "control +O", then "return" then "control X"
Now any file that is saved to your share folder will be readwrite to everyone every minute. This is a clumsy method but it works.

  • Newly created folders give "staff" read-only permission

When I create a new folder in my home directory it has the following permissions:
    Me: Read & Write
    staff: Read only
    everyone: No Access
Other (non-admin) accounts seem to belong to staff and thus have read access to any non-standard folders in my main (admin) home directory.
    1) How can I change the staff permissions on these folders (Finder gives me an error)? Is this only possible using sudo chmod?
    2) How can I change the default permissions to stop giving default access to all users through the staff group?
    Thx,
    Chris

Other (non-admin) accounts seem to belong to staff and thus have read access
to any non-standard folders in my main (admin) home directory.
The easiest solution is just not to keep confidential folders that you create yourself at the top level of Home. You could instead create a single enclosing folder to hold that all that extra material, call it, say, "My Other Stuff", and put it in your Documents folder where it would be protected from all other users. You could then create descriptive subfolders within in it, which would also be protected.
If you still instead want to alter the permissions of folders that you create yourself and you don't want to use Terminal, take a look at [BatChmod|http://www.macchampion.com/arbysoft/BatchMod/Welcome.html].
