Read only responsibility

Hi
I would like to create Read Only responsibility for administration purpose. As i have seen in this forum that, there are some read only resposibilities for AR, HR, AP etc. Like wise responsibility for administration purpose. I do not want to create new with new menu etc.
Regards

You can set "HR: Query Only" Profile option to Yes at responsibility level for HRMS.
Another way is you can create a responsibility with a data group that is attached to a read only database user. You might find the folliowing link helpful in creating the readonly apps database user and responsiility

  • Form personalization for a read only responsibility for a custom form

    Hi,
I have a read only responsibility. My requirement is to make a custom form updatable through this responsibility but wth a condition that only the specific custom form should be updatable and rest all other form accessed through read only responsibility be read only. How can i achieve this using form personalization?
Pls give me detailed steps if possible.
    Thanks

I tried override Query Only values through Forms Personalization but it did not work for me. With a bit of determination I might have been able to work around it but no luck on that front.
You can do it this way, although it's a bit cumbersome:
    1. Clone every function and menu in the Responsibility
    2. In all but your custom function set the Function parameter QUERY_ONLY=YES

  • Create "Sysadmin Read only" Responsibility and add to Application user.

    Hi
I am using 11.5.10.2 (Single node installation) on RedHat LinuxAS4 OS. I have couple of requests from the users.
    Issue 1:
The user has requested to "Sysadmin Read Only" Responsibility and attach that responsibility to his user. Please find below the request raised by the user.
Can u add query only access for Sysadmin responsibility as I need an option to check the values assigned to each profile option and other relevant functionalities in sys_admin responsibility.
    Issue 2:
The user is unable to open two forms simuntaniously. I was asked to set a profile option for that, please let me know which profile option is that.

  • Workflow Admin read only responsibility in EBS 11.5.10.2

    Hi All,
I have a requirement to create a read only workflow administrator. For that I have done the below steps.
    1. Created one permission set with Monitor Data.
    2. Created one role and one grant for that role with the above selected permission set.
    3. Then I have assigned the responsibility Workflow Administrator Web (New) to a user.
    4. Assigned the above created role to to that user.
Then I tried to access the WF pages from that user, but still he is able to do all the activities that is possible by the Workflow Administrator Web Applications responsibility.
When I navigated to Workflow Administrator Web Applications-->Administration, Workflow System Administrator LOV is having value '*'. I changed that to 'Workflow Administrator Web Applications', and tried to access Workflow Administrator Web (New) from the above user.
Now no buttons are enabled for him. But in the Status Monitor, the user will be able to view only the Workflows owned by him.
But my requirement is to view all users workflow.
Can anyone guide me on how to achieve that.?
Also, I found that there is no significance for assigning Monitor Data permission. Please suggest me on that aspect also.
    Hoping for youe valuable comments.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Charls,
The note is also telling the same thing.:(
Then is there anyway to achieve my requirement.
Should be able to query everything as the admin does. But won't be able to perform any actions.
Looking forward for your valuable comments.I did manage to create the same using (How to Restrict Access to Data in the Workflow Monitor based on Item Types? [ID 559072.1]) but for specific item type (omit this step if you want to have access to all item types).
If you could share the steps you followed (in details) to implement the above, it would be helpful.
Please also review (How to enable Workflow Owned By LOV in Workflow Status Monitor for a User other than SYSADMIN [ID 1328447.1]) and see if it helps.
    Thanks,

  • System Administrator Read-Only responsibility.

    Dear All
Is there a way that i can assign a Read-Only responsibilities of system administrator.
    Thanks,

Yes. It is possible to create a new responsibility 'System Administrator - View Only', which will have all the functions in Query only mode. To achieve this, Create a new customTop menu, consisting of sub-menus and functions. The functions should have the 'Parameters' field as 'QUERY_ONLY = "YES"'. Attach this top menu to the 'System Administrator - View Only' custom responsibility. This responsibility can then be assigned to the users, who will then only be able to query the records, not do any update.

  • Learning History Read Only responsibility

    Hi All,
I need to create a resp with access to only Learning History tab. Can i do this quickly, i.e. is there a specific role I can assign via User Management which gives only access to Learning History tab?
If not, I will check the menu / functions on Learning Administrator resp and then personalizing any update buttons out. Are there any other threads on this or guides i can use for quick assistance?
    Thanks.

    Hi,
Am so sorry, even i checked Query mode is not working in JSP pages,
You can try out simple solution to get your requirement done
    1.     Create custom responsibility with standard seeded menu.
    2.     Exclude following menu in custom responsibility
    a.     OTA Catalog Tab for Learning Administrator
    b.     OTA Content Tab for Learning Administrator
    c.     OTA Setup Tab for Learning Administrator
    d.     OTA Resource Tab for Learning Administrator
    hope this helps

  • Make all the forms at a user level or responsibility level to be read only

    Hi,
Please suggest me to make all the forms at a user level or responsibility level to be read only. So that when a particular user logs in, he gets all the form in read only mode or at a particular responsibility all the forms are read only so that we can attach this responsibility to the user for the same purpose.
Any ideas will be highly appreciated.

  • Attachment converting to Read Only

    Hello,
I've created a form in livecycle that has signature fields.  The actual pdf has a microsoft word document (.doc) attached to it so people can add links to the form.  When I open the form and fill it out, then open the attachment and add links everything works fine.  However, when I sign the pdf form using the signature field, someone else who opens the pdf form and then the word document attachment can only see the attachment in Read Only mode.  Is there a way to stop the addition of a signature from making the attachment Read Only?

Pl post details of OS, database and EBS versions.
Menus cannot be made READ_ONLY - this attribute applies only to functions. You will have to build a custom menu with custom functions that are READ_ONLY, then assign the custom menu to a custom responsibility.

  • Is it possible to create read-only users in OM

We have several tasks where creating Read-Only access for non-OM users who require information from specific data fields in OM on a regular basis would be helpful. Currently those users must interrupt the daily work of those Oracle users with OM access in order to get their queries answered; obviously this can be quite disruptive.
Have been told by our IT dept/OM users that creating read-only users is not possible and have not found any general information about the topic via Internet search, so I am posting this general query.
Are there license issues that would prevent this?
    Security issues?
    Customized OM?
Or is it just too complex to do without creating headaches for a firm's IT department?
    Thanks
    Lisa

You will have to create new functions with parameter query-only = Yes.
And then create a new menu with those new functions.
And then attach the new menu to the Read only responsibility.

  • Purchase Order Read only/inquiry Responsibility

    HI,
We are using R12.04, I want to create a new responsibility for purchase order inquiry/view only. User can only view purchase order details and but can't update details.

Can anyone explain, how can i achieve this goal, Which function should i exclude to restrict responsibility to read only/inquiry ?

    HI,
Thanks for the update, there is no standard way achieve this goal, as we have to define custom function, menu, responsibility to restrict PO form in inquiry mode.

  • How to make OM responsibility as read-only in oracle applications R12

Hi there - We want to make read-only access in a staggered approach. We are a manufacturing company and are going live with R12 in different countries at different times. So once we go live with UK, we would like to have the UK only responsibilities be made read-only. So, I like the idea of identifying all the functions associated for the top menu of each responsibility and run an update on the fnd_form_functions, but can this somehow be linked to the Profile Options table, so it can also be filtered out by OU? Or are there any other suggestions out there that might work? As we have over 600 responsibilities in 11.5.10 that we would need to go through and determine which ones need to be made read-only at specific times. This is not so much a problem on the Financials side as we have some existing read only responsibilities to use, but more so on the manufacturing side. Thank You

The thread subject mentioned OM responsibility. As Hussein said earlier, you will have to create new menu(s).
    Sandeep GandhiThanks Sandeep..
we just want the same menus which are available for OM super user resp..so in that case...what should be the approach??bcz we want to attach inquiry resp to users..who are not allowed to do any transactions...
so what we did is basically created a new OM resp with same menu...this is where we stopped..don't know what to do next

  • Define read-only authorization for specific field(s) on a form for 11.5.9

    Dear all,
Can you pls let me know how is it possible to define read-only authorization access for specific field(s) per responsibility / user on a form in 11.5.9?
For example I want to protect the item master file by assigning for example to users with responsibility buyer authorization to modify the buyer information but to have read-only only authorization on other sensitive fields such as make/buy flag, expense accounts, etc
Through UI Modeller I have only managed to make specific fields on specific forms invisible, or whole tabs invisible, to specific responsibilities but this does not cover my needs as I want them to be able to view the data of the fields but to not be able to update them

    Arun,
Almost but not quite.. The example you've given has the person VO at the top level which includes all the id's (City, State etc). My use case is slightly different.
    query 1
         select org_id, OrgName from x;
    query 2
         select emp_id, emp_name from y where org_id = x.org_id
    query 3
multi-table join (approx 9 tables) to retrieve depts associated to employee
         where org_id = x.org_id
         and emp_id = y.emp_id
Rather than using LOV's would it be better to create VO's and pass in the bind parameters at run time?

  • SQL Server 2005 replaced with SQL Server 2014 trying to connect front end Access as guest (read only ODBC)

We have replaced a SQL Server 2005 with a SQL Server 2014 (new physical server.)  Have the new server set up to use SQL Server login OR Windows user login. Had old server connecting (for a particular DB) to front end Access (2010 or 2013) as guest for
anyone logged into the Windows NT Network with a read only ODBC connection. Have the DB in the new server set to include guest as db_datareader (with only SELECT permission for the securables of each table and view being linked) but when any Windows user not
specifically listed as a SQL DB user tries to use the front end they get an error of:
    Microsoft SQL Server Login
    Connection failed:
    SQL State: '28000'
    SQL Server Error: 18456
[Microsoft][OCBC SQL Server Driver][SQL Server] Login failed for user {domain\user}.
After closing that pop-up window a server login window appears. Of course, since the guest user is not specifically listed as a user in the DB that fails also. It seems like there should be a very simple solution to this, but I can't seem to find it. I want
to allow anyone logged in on the Windows system (locally) to be able to open the MS Access file (on their work station machine) and run their own (read only; select) queries on the SQL Server database. Any suggestions?
Thanks a billion in advance ----

Thanks for the response Olaf. I have now spent weeks researching this. I realize that using the guest account in most situations is not advised. As mentioned, I have restricted the guest account to allow the db_datareader role only, and have explicitly denied
all other roles, as well as allowing select only, and still have no access for the guest account.
The suggested fix in the second link you provided, of using Windows groups is not plausible for my situation either. We are a scientific field research institution, with a few long term users and lots of users that may have Windows accounts for a few months,
and then they are gone. It would be a nightmare for the network tech to try to keep a group account up to date, and we need to give access (read only, of course) to anyone logged into the system. Realize that the ONLY access of any kind to this database is
thru MS Access ACCDB, using a (by default) read only OCDB connection.
This type of access is used particularly because researchers need to be able to set up their own queries, and the MS Access query interface is particularly convenient for people who are not themselves SQL experts, yet are trying to get some very advanced
levels of output. Putting the database online is not practical because then we are back to the need for a comprehensive query interface, and just picking up general subsets of the data online (from a basic web page search feature) would be out of the question,
since the result set would involve hundreds of thousands if not millions of records.
So - that said - what exactly would you suggest, assuming we don't have the funds to buy a whole new system, and have spent plenty of money with Microsoft's Enterprise level MS Office so that all work stations have MS Access, and Microsoft's SQL Server,
as well as running our network on Microsoft's network software.
