Read out loud feature in Adobe Reader

Hello all,
I'm interested in the read aloud feature in Adobe Reader and, specifically, in the ability to transfer a document read aloud into a format that can be burned to a CD.  This for members of our company who travel frequently. Any ideas or insights?
Thanks,
J

Thanks for the response.
Yes, this is mostly pie in the sky.  We're interested in taking the
audio from a document read aloud by Adobe Reader and converting it into
a format that can be burned to CD. I'm assuming that we would simply have to record the aloud reading--but I was wondering if Reader gurus might have a better approach.

  • I'm looking for the read out loud feature for my Adobe the iPad

I'm trying to find a read out loud feature for Adobe that is installed on my iPad

I think the feature is called Voice Over, and I think it's now compatible with Reader:

  • Adobe Read Out Loud feature not working

Anyone else run into this.  We activate it, it scans the document looking for tags, then does not read it.  Any ideas?

    Hey there hdilios,
Just been trying to sort this one out myself, I noticed that you tried re-installing Adobe Reader with the same result.
Could it be that, when you installed the first time / updated and then re-installed, Adobe Reader Protected Mode was automatically re-applied by default. Read Out Loud will not function while in Protected Mode.
You must disable it to hear Read Out Loud document reader, it is quite safe to disable this additional security function, and the only way to make it work.
To disable Adobe Reader XI Protected Mode
    - Open Adobe Reader
    - Click menu item Edit
    - Select Preferences
    - Preference panel opens
    - Select Security (Enhanced) in Categories list
    - Uncheck Enable Protected Mode at Startup
    - Dialog opens Click Yes
    - Close Preferences
    - Close/Restart Adobe Reader
    - Open a document you wish to read
    - Activate Read Out Loud
    - Choose Option to read Page or Whole Document
    - or setup for Reading with the Accessability Assistant.
Hope this is the answer you are looking for, my Read Out Loud feature is functioning fine now it had me baffled for a while, thought my sound card was malfunctioning.

  • Adobe Reader - Windows 8 - Read Out Loud Feature

I have been trying to access the Read Out Loud feature in the most recent version of Adobe Reader for Windows.  Making it for Windows 8 has lost most of the useful things about Adobe Reader.  Is there a version of Adobe that in in a window with menus and features other than show page, navigate, and save?
Currently I have to email PDFs to an email associated with a Macbook that I have access to, and listen to the PDF on the Mac.

Not so far as I know. Creating a voice for reading is not about
recording samples, but about creating a kind of robotic voice,
something which is an enormous amout of highly skilled work. (Though I
don't work in the area and may have it wrong).

  • Adobe Reader- Read Out Loud Feature

When using the Read Out Loud Feature I've noticed that there are only two mechanical sounding voices to chose from, one male and one female. Is there an option setting where I can use my own voice?

  • Read out loud feature

I recently purchase a Satellite P755-S5263. I am not sure if the issue is with Adobe Reader X or my new Satellite laptop. I can not play a pdf CD. I know the speakers and sounds work as music CDs work, but not when I try to play my book on a pdf file. I put the same CD on my older Toshiba laptop and it is working just fine. Any ideas? Is this an Adobe issue?

You said it yourself. Neither the laptop nor Windows is the problem. Maybe you should post in the Adobe forums.

  • Read Out Loud

When I try to use the "Read out loud" feature in Adobe Reader reads out that I do not have the correct verification file and that I need to contact the Adobe Sales team to receive one,
I work in a school where we use volume licensing but I thought this was free feature in Adobe reader??

    Hey ashi95779507,
You are absolutely correct that Adobe Reader is available for free along with free accessibility of its features.
Try using 'read out loud' feature in any other PDF file and check. What version of Reader do you use?
Please share the screenshot of the error message that appears on your screen.
    Hope to get your response.

  • Read out loud does not work on Adobe Reader XI.  Does anyone know how to fix this problem?

Does anyone know how to repair the Read Out Loud problem with Adobe Reader XI?

    Hi thomash,
Are you running into this problem with all PDFs, or just a select few? If the PDF was created from a scan, and OCR wasn't performed (so there's no "live" text), then there wouldn't be anything to read aloud.
If the issue occurs regardless of the PDF you have open, has anything changed on your system since Read Out Loud worked for you?
    Best,
    Sara

  • Read out loud speech rate

The "read out loud" feature in Adobe Acrobat Pro XI for mac does not work.  I have tried adjusting the settings in accessibility and in the reader preferences with no luck.  This feature works great on my mac for other applications (preview, text edit, etc.) using the system voice over settings and selecting speech > start speaking.  Acrobat uses my default voice selection but I'm not able to adjust the rate of speech no matter what number I put in.  It's stuck on "painfully slow" and I can't figure out how to change it.
Can someone help?  Alternatively, is there a way to use mac OS system speech > start speaking feature in Acrobat?
    Mac OS X 10.9.1
    Acrobat Pro 11.0.06
    Thanks!

Take a look at the "Screen Reader options" in Preferences>Reading.

  • Cannot use Read Out Loud function in MS Vista

I have not be able to use the Read Out Loud function of Adobe Reader since I got Vista.  I have recently written a book and I want others to be able listen to the book in PDF format but they cannot.  A good friend of my sister is legally blind and wanted to know if I had an audio version for her so I asked her if she had Adobe Reader and she said she did.  So I then asked if she had MS Vista OS but she is not sure.  If she does she and other who have Vista and any version of Adobe Readerwill not be able to use the Read Out Loud function as far as I know.  Any ideas as what the issue can be?  I have had Vista tell me it was some kind of security violation and I tried to exempt it but Vista would not let me.  Here is the error output from today "Faulting application AcroRd32.exe, version 9.3.3.177, time stamp 0x4c1d77af, faulting module lhcom02W.dll, version 2.13.0.0, time stamp 0x3cfc8155, exception code 0xc0000005, fault offset 0x00018818, process id 0xeac, application start time 0x01cb4798dc61d030."  I have 9.3.3.4 but previous version still did not work either.  I was hoping the latest update would have worked.  signed: Frustrated and Disappointed in Indiana

By changing my preferences in Adobe Reader (Edit/Preferences/ Reading) from the default, it seemed to kick the function into action!  The volume is still very low, though, even though all the volume slide controls are on max.
    But progress anyway!

  • Read Out Loud License Error

Whenever I try to use Read Out Loud in either Adobe Reader XI or Acrobat X, I get an error message about having an expired license or not having a valid license verification file.  How can I fix this error message?
    Thanks.

    Hi amarcyniuk,
Please try updating Acrobat/ Reader to the latest version and check.
Was it working fine for you before?
Try repairing Acrobat and Reader and check.

  • "Read Out Loud" Function

I am trying to activate the "Read Out Loud" function in Adobe Reader 8.1.1. The instructions say to do the following. The problem I have is that I do not see a 'read out loud' option under 'view'.
    Instructions from Help-------------------------
    To activate the read function
Click view on the toolbar along the top of the page
    Click read out loud
    Click activate read out loud
    To read
    Click view
    Click read out loud
Click read this page only or read to end of document according to your
    preference
    To stop the reader
    Click view
    Click read out loud
    Click stop

Can you select the text in your files? The ROL function only works if the file contains "real" text, ie not just an image or a scan with text in it.

  • How do I get my Adobe Digital book read out loud.

I am disabled and need to use text to speech. I purchased an ebook which is an Adobe Digital Edition. I have really enjoyed using Adobe Reader with the Read Out Loud feature and was shocked when I discovered I could not use this feature on the Digital Editions. If I knew Adobe cared so little about the disabled I would sought the book in a different format.
Does anyone out there have any ideas on how to be able to get this expensive book read for me?

I do not know quite what you mean by "paid for them to transfer all my data and programs over"...  I'm hoping you are not implying that you simply copied (had copied) programs from your application folder to your new computer.
You still need to go through the installation process to install Photoshop, Illustrator, etc.
