Read receipts in iCloud email?
Hi there
I would desperately like to get access to read receipts on my iPad. I have a yahoo email and an iCloud email (new this morning) but none seem to have the option of gaining a read receipt?
Anyone have any ideas how I can do this please?
Cheers in advance
Sam
Read receipts aren't provided by IMAP and POP email accounts. They are usually only available in Microsoft's proprietary Exchange system, and even then, only if the email recipient has them turned on, and their email client supports them.

Read receipt on icloud... does it work?
I was on icloud today and someone sent me an email and I mistakenly clicked on it without thinking first. I don't want this person to know I've seen their email at all as well, long story short, I'm not wanting them to contact me anymore.
If they send me an email from their work (presumably done through MS Outlook) with a read receipt on it, will it show that I've read it if I've done it through icloud?
Nothing popped up as well for a read receipt notification but I think they're being sneaky anyways, I just wanted to know if they could tell if I opened this email.
TIA,
DaleAre you sure this is the case?
I have recently had a situation where a company is sighting the fact that I opened an e-mail sent by them at a specific time in May 2013. I opened the e-mail in iCloud on my mother's computer.
The fact that I opened the e-mail is not anything I would have denied anyway, but this has left me with a feeling of invasion of privacy.
How can ensure that my reading or not of my e-mails is something that is private to me ? -

musheer sheikhali <[email protected]>;
these are 2 read receipt for the same emailHi,
May I know how you could tell where the read receipts are generated from? What is your Outlook version?
Sometimes Cached Mode may cause the duplicate read receipts issue, this is because the cached file is corrupted, please run Scanpst.exe to repair the .ost file to test the result:

You may also remove the delegates for this account to try again.

Read Receipts generated for emails sent. ( SOST / SOSG )
Hi,
With the current settings, whenever the email sent is read , "<b>Read Receipt</b>" is sent to the user. Looks like the SOST / SOSG needs to be set accordingly. Could any one has info, how to set this, to avoid this happening.
I could also see, SU01 has parameter SOST.
Thanks,
SamThere is a setting in SCOT --> confirmation of receipts --> set as receipt not expected.
This will resolve the issue.
Thanks,

HT5361 how to put a read receipt to my email im sending
Hi, I am trying to send a email and I want to make sure they receive it and read it. Is there a way to get a return email when they open the email I send them?
Thanks FelicityYou can always add a message to the end of the email. Something like:
While it is completely none of my business what you do with my email, my life would not be complete until you informed me that you read my email.
Also note that the read receipt is not responded to when actually read (however the email client interprets that). If you do any pre-processing on a message, like automatically sending all email with a read receipt to the trash, it will generate the response. So, it doesn't tell you anything like what you expect even if you do get a response. -
Can't POP-read my non-iCloud email account anymore
It was working ever since Mountain Lion was released (I installed on the first day). Just last night it stopped accessing my email accounts. Looking at the Activity window it just shows "fetching new mail" constantly. Mail also crashes if I try and send email. BTW, I don't use iCloud mail. I have that forwarding to one of my other accounts.

Read Receipt for Email using Java Mail
hi,
i am trying to implement requesting the read receipts for the email sent out.
for that i got some information that by setting header "Disposition-Notification-To" and the value should be "<Destination email address>"
should i need to make any changes in the mailing server or i can handle it in my code to save it in the database.
can some one please guide me so that i can implement this.
Thank YouHi Bshannon,
From your response, I understand that setting Disposition-Notification does not give a complete result for the read-receipts (We do not receive notifications from all domains, I tried gmail, yahoo, and other domains as well).
Since your reply was sent 2 years ago, I would like to know any new solution found to get a complete read-receipt notifications from all domains?.
Your response would be highly appreciated.
Thanks,

Read Receipt pop-up for email going out of CRM
Hi All,
Could any one let me know how do I enable read receipt for every email sent out of the ERMS system. Once the receiver tries to open the email, there should be an pop-up for read receipt.
Regards,
RonitHi Ronit
Basis can enable read receipts for email sent out of the ERMS system:
Go to SCOT. From menu select Settings > Confirmation of Receipt , here you have option to enable or disable read receipt.

"Not Read" receipt received from sender for all emails sent.
We recently migrated from Exchange 2010 to Exchange 2013 and I've got one user that started having a strange problem after the migration. She has Outlook set to request a read receipt for all emails that she sends and that works fine except that
for every email she sends, she gets a "Not Read" receipt back and this not read receipt comes from her as if she sent the email to herself and didn't read it. She also get the not read receipt if she deletes emails that are in her sent box
and again, the not read receipt comes from her.
This user is using Outlook 2007 SP3 with all available updates installed. We've tried a new profile and we've also tried on a different computer with the same results. She doesn't have any rules set up except for the one for clearing categories
that I believe is a default rule. I've checked the settings of the rule and there is nothing there that would be causing this. The other strange thing is that these not read receipts seem to come in batches. If she sends one email the the
not read receipt doesn't show up or at least not immediately. If she sends 2 or 3 messages then she'll get all of the not read receipts for those 2 or 3 messages at the same time.Hi
Please check this thread
http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/2dbf0122-8d63-4375-91b4-6ba2cf52ed2e/not-read-receipt-to-senders
Tell the senders to stop sending messages with read receipts and it wont be a problem
And to To determine the problem, Please test the feature on local side to check whether the symptom occurs. Meanwhile, you can let the sender in remote domain send message to other domain to
check the result.

Until about a week ago I could read all my iCloud email. Lately some subscription items come in with the email header but the body is blank. When I checked the same messages on my iPhone via iCloud email the full body text is available. Any ideas how I can get my Mac Pro to see the text? I've rebooted the Mac Pro and closed the iCloud and reconnected but no change.
Thanks
PaulI think you need mountain lion. I am having the same issue. Here is the system requirements for iCloud to work properly. I hope this helps.

Is there a way of having a read receipt on the email i send out?
RobI wouldn't take it with a grain of salt. I would, however, do more testing. Here is what I came up with.
I sent out two more test messages to the same five emails. Those emails were a veriety of email types accessed from a variety of modalities. Some of the emails were sent to mail on a private hosts like 1and1, some were sent to gmail accounts, and some were sent to @me.com accounts. The two messages we sent were one HTML email and one plain text email.
In all cases, where we sent plain text emails, no tracking was accomplished.
In all cases where HTML messages were sent, tracking was accomplished regardless of client, local or web, or account type. The tracking was genuine and in fact tracked true opens and not just server downloads. In fact the tracking was so fine-tuned, we could track how many times a particular account opened that particular message... in real time.
So, it is either something clever embedded in the HTML, or it is a picture being counted by the server as somebody else mentioned. But, how would the server know what email account is pinging the picture file? I would love for it to be something in the code of the message itself. If that's the case - that a script in the message itself it sending a 'read' tag or something back to some other component, regardless of client - that means we could set up the same thing without using HTML... maybe? Any thoughts? Should I post the script of a message here?
I know people are very particular about their privacy, but to answer to that: 1) let's all get over the idea that anything we do online, ever, is private - especially email, and 2) I'm at a school where we're dealing with students with particularly bad habits. Being able to say to them, "Well, Stewart, I see that you did in fact read the email. Actually, you looked at it three times. So, I know you knew about the work." will put to bed that excuse real quick and help them succeed more often more efficiently. -
How can I activate "read receipt" as with Outlook?

I misread your post so ignore all below the next sentance. Mail does not include read receipt functionality, for good reason.
--- Ignore what follows. It does not address what the poster asked ; ---
In my Outlook 2007 the settings for read receipts are here: In Outlook > Tools > Options > Email Options > Tracking Options
But read receipts, either requesting or responding to are never a good idea. It is totally up to the recipient if they provide a read receipt. Most email clients, your Outlook included, allow you to set the client to never respond to a read receipt. This is for security and privacy reasons. As to requesting a receipt. It is of little value for you to request a receipt given that most email users have set their clients to never respond. So even if you request a receipt you still won't know in most cases if the recipient read the email or just ignored your request.
From a personal perspective, it is no one's business other than mine if or when I read my email. So don't send me a read receipt request because it will be ignored. -
