"Read" Triggers

Are there such things as Read Triggers in Oracle 8i?
My requirement is to write an entry to a transaction table every time a user views a row in a billable table (i.e. a pay-per-view system).
It occurs to me that a row-level trigger based on the user reading an entry in the transaction table would satisfy the requirement, but the last time I used triggers was four years ago and I don't remember "Read" being an option then.
Can anyone help?
null

a way to accomplish that is to create so called procedural interface - user can access (including, select, delete, insert and update) a table only via procedures.
Then in Your procedures You can log everything You want

    Thanks Fred. The nearest Apple store is about two hours away, so we did the next best thing & took it to Best Buy. It stumped the "Apple Guy" there. Apparently when an Apple product is turned on it works. Period. I'm impressed that the products are normally so dependable--it just stinks that I got the one in a million that's not. Anyway, now we wait for a service call Tuesday morning. Thanks again!

  • Adobe Reader triggers application errors

    Hello, everyone.
    Every time I launch Adobe Reader, it first tells me that it cannot open Protected Mode due to a problem with the environment and asks me to choose how to open the file. The file does open, but after that, *regardless* of what I chose, I start triggering application errors.
    Every time I try to launch an .exe file - basically, everything on a Windows system - I get application error 0xc0000142, saying that the application was unable to start correctly. I can't launch anything new until I restart my computer.
    Any programs that were running at the moment don't stop running, so I'm guessing something happens with launch algorithms. Adobe is the only program that triggers this error chain.
    The entire ordeal started when I tried to write a VBA script in MS Excel to automatically save spreadsheets as PDF files. The script was nothing special, I just recorded saving as PDF and replayed it. Excel created the file, but when it opened, the Protected Mode error showed up first and this error triggering started happening.
    I've tried deleting Adobe's products and reinstalling them (including registry files).
    I'm running a Windows 7 64-bit system.
    This error is making studying for my exams very annoying (I have to use Google Drive each time), so any help will be much, much appreciated.

    It's Adobe Reader XI, v11.0.10.
    I could open the reader itself, but once I was prompted for Protected Mode, the chain would start.
    I managed to enter preferences and mess around a bit - disabled protected mode, javascript (just in case), disabled "enhanced security". And that all worked - I can now freely open Reader and the errors don't start. I think it was Protected Mode - no idea why, though.
    Works fine now.

  • Adobe Reader triggers discrete graphics when 'signing' Mac OS X

    G'day,
    When I launch Adobe Reader on my MacBook Pro and load a document, then click on 'Sign' it triggers the discrete graphics chip.  It then remains active even after closing the document. If I kill the Adobe Reader application, the graphics defaults back to Integrated.
    As I typically load and sign and then close the document but keep Reader running.  In battery mode, this is likely to drain the power faster and I'd appreciate any advice on how to avoid it, or workaround it - rather than just killing the application every time.

    Have you checked the Apple forums for this as well? LOADS of people are reporting battery issues with Mavericks over there, though unrelated to this, I'm sure. I honestly don't know what would cause the switch with Reader. Perhaps one of the hardware gurus at Apple would.

  • Why "Will Close" action is not triggered?

    Hello
    I've created a simple pdf file that should show an alert box before the document is closed. But it does not work as expected, the message is not shown.

  • Acrobat XI for Mac crashes my HP Laserjet 1536dnf MFP

    Every time I try to print from Acrobat XI for Mac I get a fatal error code 79 on my HP Laserjet 1536dnf MFP.  The printer works fine with all other software.  Please help.

    To expand on Michael Kazlow's response on behalf of Adobe …
    There is absolutely nothing that Adobe software in its print process to directly cause this type of error. What may differentiate Acrobat XI printing from whatever other applications you are using might be the graphical complexity of the output from Acrobat (or Reader) triggering a firmware bug or a hardware error, possibly even a printer memory error if the file being printed is accessing memory that simpler jobs would never access.

  • How to detect the occasion on which my file format plugin has been called

    Howdi!
    I got following problem. I've implemented a file filter plugin, which merely overrides the native psd fileformat reads the psd structure and acts on it. Additionally I need the user to provide some additional information during this process, but only during a file read triggered by an actual open event. Now to the problem: When opening the file chooser and selecting a psd (even without opening it, just selecting it) my fileformat plugin gets invocation.
    Is there a way to distinguish the context of invocation of my plugin? I reckon there is a preview flag in the data structure passed to the file format plugin, but this one is always set to false regardlass of the context.
    Any ideas?
    Regards,
    Mike

    Hi thanks for the advice, but I don't even have this types registered. Here's my list:
    EnableInfo { "true" },
    FmtFileType { '8BPS', '8BIM' },
    FilteredTypes { { '8BPS', '8BIM' } },
    FilteredExtensions { { 'PSD ' } },
    Is there maybe anything else I can do detect if I'm not called during document open?

  • Need to paste on/off button in its own event structure?

    I am studying the CLD exam car wash vi attached.
    First question, I noticed the Start button is pasted inside its own event structure. Is this absolutely necessary, can I just paste somewhere else?
    I guess it was paste there because the Start button has no wiring so it looks neater to paste in its own event structure, am I right?
    Second question, I noticed the Stop button is already wired to the red while loop stop, so pressing it would stop the vi already. But there is also the Stop value change event, this looks redundant, no? Or is it something really necessary??

    Both are necessary.
    1. The boolean's terminal while be read when the event is triggered. This read triggers the latch operation (so the button snaps back).
    2. The event structure would wait for an event and nothing would happen until another event is triggered. Only after the event structure is 'run', the stop value is read.

  • Simple Bridge script will not read metadata and triggers Adobe Stock Photos

    I have been trying to learn to write scripts for bridge but can't get past the most basic tasks. When I run the script on an open window in bridge it throws an "Uncaught exception metadata" error. The most bizarre thing is it sometimes causes an Adobe Stock Photo script to launch in the extendscript toolkit and throw and the "Uncaught exception metadata" error in that script. My script is as follows:
    #target "bridge"
    if (BridgeTalk.appName == "bridge")
    var items = app.document.visibleThumbnails
    for (i=0; i< items.length; i++)
    item = items[i]
    md=item.metadata
    md.namespace = "http://ns.adobe.com/photoshop/1.0/";
    Window.alert(md.Title)
    Window.alert(i + " "+ " Files Finished")
    Basically I was asking to extract the title of each thumbnail from the metadata and show it in a window. I figured if I could do something as basic as that then I could move on and tackle the more complicated tasks that I need to do.
    Any ideas of what is going on? Has anyone else accidentally triggered Adobe Stock Photos?

    Another bit of info....   As I looked at this further, it seems to be occuring only on those photos where I previously ran camera raw from CS3. I've upgraded to CS5 but have not rerun camera raw since. I understand the camera raw engine in CS3 was different. Could this be involved? Could Lightroom be changing the metadata because the engine is updating the information and I have to save TO file to get this to synch?
    update about this camera raw engine possibilty..... it would not appear to be the answer. I have some files that synch even tho lightroom develop says they are using the 2003 process version. I have some files that are on the new version that won't synch.

  • Enter event not triggering for read-only checkbox

    I have some objects in a form that get "locked" when the user signs the form.  I'm not using the digital signatures.  Instead, when the user types their name into the signature text field, a script runs on the change event that makes all of the fields in the form read only.  It also unlocks the fields if the signature is deleted.
    I was worried that we would get a lot of phone calls with users that didn't understand that the form had locked ("Why doesn't this form work?!"), so I added some code to the enter event for all of the fields that would pop up a messagebox to explain to people trying to edit a signed form that the form was locked and that they would need to delete the signature to edit the form.
    This plan works perfect for my text fields and decimal fields.  It does NOT work at all for my checkboxes.  For some reason, the enter event is never triggered for read-only checkboxes.  I don't see any other events that would obviously work for me though.  Any ideas?
    Thanks

    Thanks, those are reasonable suggestions.
    In the first suggestion, I'm unclear about one aspect of how I would accomplish this.  I assume I would allow people to modify fields in the form, but that when they did, a msgbox would pop up that would inform them that, if they continued with this modification to a signed form, the signature would be removed.  I'm all good to that point.  But if they answered that they do not want to continue modifying that field and removing the signature, how can I code it to set the value back to what it was before the change?  Is there some method that will give me access to the value of the field BEFORE the attempted modification?  I went looking for something like $.previousvalue, but found nothing.
    I'd suggest that I could use a two-stage solution, in which I store the previous value on the enter event, and save it just in case they do not want to change the field when prompted by the msgbox, but since the enter event does not exist for checkboxes (my original problem), that seems like it won't work.
    As far as radio button suggestion, I like radio buttons very much except for one fatal flaw: they aren't (as far as I can tell) clearable.  That is a shame.  Clearly some people (like me) want both exclusivity AND clearability.  And we'd like the controls to have an enter event.  But I know I'm demanding   Anyway, as it is, I just end up having to use checkboxes and create a boatload of silly code to make them exclusive.

  • Need  file adapter polling with read operation to be triggered by a BPEL without using synchronous read

    The scenario is:-
    Web Service Client -->input-->BPEL-->if input valid-->trigger file adapter with read operation--> receive file
    i am not able to stop the polling until it is required to trigger the polling.
    As soon as i deploy the composite the file adapter starts polling without waiting for input.
    Since i am using two receive activities, the second one which is suppose to receive file from file adapter is always showing pending state. (asynchronous callback)

    Hi there,
    IMHO the traditional read is used only as inbound operation, that means
    that it starts polling the input folder as soon as the composite gets
    deployed - which is the same you are experiencing.
    In your case you need an outbound operation that needs to be invoked at
    a certain moment. I don't know what are the reasons not to use sync
    read, but this is the only outbound read operation supported by the
    adapter. If you can not use the sync read, then you would have to design
    some custom solution where you call a web service or EJB for instance
    that reads the desired files.
    Another option I can think of, though have not use personally is using
    the adapters programatically in Java - take a look at this blog post as
    it seems related to this topic -
    https://technology.amis.nl/2012/01/22/using-the-oracle-weblogic-technology-adapters-with-custom-java-message-driven-bean-mdb-triggered-by-file-adapter-part-of-the-story/.
    Hope this helps,

  • Adobe Reader X triggers high speed fan in Qosmio F750

    Has anybody experienced this? When certain .pdf files are opened it triggers the fan to start blowing air inside the laptop. Will not stop until reboot or close down. Not all .pdf files do this - think it is about 50%. This laptop has done this since bought in June 2012.
    Anybody got any ideas?

    Ive never heard about that. Is this issue related to pdf files and Adobe Reader only or you have noticed that some specific actions or when more different applications are open this happen.
    Before you open it next time try to close some useless processes in task manager and check please if this will happen again.
    Please post some feedback.

    Hi,
    Grant select all will give select privileges to all schema level objects except procedures,function,packages and triggers. But I need to grant read privileges on these objects to newly created user.

  • 11g fileadapter - read operation triggered by file

    Hi,
    I have practiced with the new file adapter feature to trigger a read operation by an endfile. The read operation that is triggered by a file is useful in specific scenario's, but I have a question about it.
    There is no correlation between a file and a trigger file. What will happen when multiple files are written at once with multiple corresponding trigger files. How does the engine knows which trigger file belongs to which fle so that the correct completely written file is processed? I do not have a clear answer on this question yet.
    I know that the current 11g tech preview is not complete and some features that are in the preview will not survive in the final release, but I am curious about your thoughts about this issue.
    Regards,
    -Tom

    Hi tom,
    The documentation for triggering mechanism is here: http://otndnld.oracle.co.jp/document/products/as10g/101310/doc_cd/integrate.1013/b28994/adptr_file.htm#CIAJCBGI
    In a nutshell, the trigger file is associated with an endpoint and not with individual files for the endpoint directory. Consider a scenario wherein a third party application writes files in some folder and your BPEL process needs to process all the files when a certain marker file appears somewhere in the file system. In such a case, you will define the wsdl as:
    <jca:operation
    PhysicalDirectory="C:\ORAHOME\integration\jdev\jdev\mywork\triggers_proj\inputDir"
    ActivationSpec="oracle.tip.adapter.file.inbound.FileActivationSpec"
    IncludeFiles="Order.*\.xml"
    PollingFrequency="30"
    TriggerFilePhysicalDirectory="C:\foo"
    TriggerFile="Purchaseorder.trg"
    </jca:operation>
    In this example, adapter will start processing the Order*.xml files only when it finds the marker file "Purchaseorder.trg" in "C:\foo"
    Hope this answers your question.

  • Triggering and reading on two HP/Agilent 34401A DMMs at same time

    Hi folks,
    I'm VERY new to LabVIEW and need some help with a measurement.  I'm using LV 8.2 with all equipment on GPIB.  I have two 34401A multimeters, triggered externally using an HP 33120A function generator.   I've downloaded the example vi's and drivers and everything works fine.  My problem is with the speed of the triggering and the synchronization between the two multimeters on the same trigger.  I've read the manual and for this multimeter, it claims it can be triggered and read over GPIB at 1kHz (display off, auto range off, delay= 0, 4.5 digits).  I'm finding it is nowhere near this speed.  The fastest I have successfully triggered and recorded the data was at 100 Hz, anything higher and it no longer stays in sync with the trigger (i.e. for 200 measurements at 100 Hz, I'm getting all 200 measurements, but over 3-5 seconds).  The trigger speed is the first problem.  The second problem is getting the two meters to take a reading at the same time.  One meter always lags the other (or vice versa) by 1 to 3 readings.  My goal is to continuously (for about 60 seconds) read both multimeters as fast as possible and at the same time (250-500 Hz would be fantastic) and write it to a file.  Can anyone give me some advice on this?  Is a software trigger the way to go?  Is there some limitation with GPIB that it cannot read/write to two devices this fast?
    Thanks!
    P.S. I've been experimenting mostly with the example code provided by NI and a .vi posted in this forum thread (http://sine.ni.com/niforum/niforumforumDU=http://forums.ni.com/ni/board/messageboard.id=170&message....) hp34401a_-_testing.vi from Kunal.  If anyone could share some other example vi's it would be very helpful!

    Hi plasma420,
    I should have read your post more carefully - was thinking it was a 1 sec acquisition, not 1 minute!
    Getting your LabVIEW app to reliably respond to a measurement (detect/read) every 2 to 4 ms is going to be tough - especially if in a multi-tasking OS environment.  On a 2GHz box running a normal Windows XP or 2K install,  I suspect you could see an occasional "hiccup" even at 100Hz.  A bit of searching the forum turned up this old-but-still-valuable (even entertaining) post related to improving determinism of DAQ applications on a PC.
    Observation: The listed max measurement-rate of the 34401 (1000Hz) may assume the GPIB-bus is dedicated to one instrument - the requirement to read from two instruments sequentially, may necessarily increase time spent servicing each trigger - decreasing maximum theoretical throughput.
    The first rule for "high-speed" multi-sample DAQ - especially under Windows - is to make it a hardware task instead of a software loop;  the 34401 doesn't seem well suited here.  I hate to suggest this, but... have you considered purchasing one of NIs multi-channel DAQ devices?  With a $360 PCI 6010 + cable and break-out box, you could have one of the LabVIEW DAQ examples running in ~ 30 min.  The 6010 was the cheapest 16-bit board I could find, ask your sales-rep for other alternatives if you go this route...
    Cheers!
