Read URL using URLReader

I am trying to read a specific URL using URLReader, as described in
http://java.sun.com/docs/books/tutorial/networking/urls/readingURL.html
The code is the following:
import java.net.*;
import java.io.*;
public class URLReader {
public static void main(String[] args) throws Exception {
     URL yahoo = new URL("http://www.yahoo.com/");
     BufferedReader in = new BufferedReader(
                    new InputStreamReader(
                    yahoo.openStream()));
     String inputLine;
     while ((inputLine = in.readLine()) != null)
     System.out.println(inputLine);
     in.close();
The code is working fine with 90% of the URL's I am using.
Still it doesn't work for the URL I need it for.
Specifically, I need to open URLs from www.imdb.com like the following:
http://us.imdb.com/M/title-exact?Kika%20(1993)
which means that I should replace the corresponding line from the code above with:
URL yahoo = new URL("http://us.imdb.com/M/title-exact?Kika%20(1993)")
When I run the program though, after I make that change, it just hangs without doing anything.
Some people in the past, advised me to set the proxy correctly.
prop.put("http.proxyHost","myproxy.someplace.com");
prop.put("http.proxyPort","80");
Nevertheless, the system administrator here assured me that we are not using a proxy.
So, is there another way to read the specific URL I need to, using the URLReader code?
If so, how can it be done?
Again, the URL I am trying to handle is:
http://us.imdb.com/M/title-exact?Kika%20(1993)
Thanks,
manolis

Still, I am pretty sure that the problem is not with the way I am writting the URL itself
I even tried hardcoding the URL as suggested, and as it could have been encoded by using URLEncode, ie
http://us.imdb.com/M/title-exact?Kika%20%281993%29
and still it didnt work. The program would just hang there and not do anything.
It wont even read a much simple, but similar URL, like
http://www.imdb.com/
So, any more suggestions would be more than welcome.
Thanks,
Manolis

  • Read url from text file

    I am new to Adobe Air. I was able to load a web browser as an Air app with the following line:
    <mx:HTML id="myBrowser" width="100%" height="100%" location="http://www.google.com"/>
    My  question is this: is it possible to add a text file to the project (to  be stored locally) that can be read by the application so that the  location attribute (URL) can be dynamically populated?
    I want the user to be able to change the starting URL by manually editing this text file.
    Any help I can get is appreciated!
    Note:  I am aware that a URL bar can simply be added to the app, but that is  really not the solution that I'm looking for. I don't want the user to  be able to change the url using the GUI.

    Great, thank you for your response!
    Could you give me a sugestion on how to aproch the code. Specifically how to read the file itself. Would it require a specific format?
    Thanks you.

  • Attaching URL using GOS with 2 key fields

    I found a program to attach URL using GOS. I tried the program using his sample Business object (BUS2012) and supplied a valid PO and the program works.
    When I use the program using business object BUS1505 (Real Estate Contract) and put a valid contract number, the program didn't attached the URL. When I check the business object, I found out that the key fields are 2, Company Code and Contract Number. With this, how can attach it to the program.
    Please help me on this. Thanks in advance.

    HI
    You can look at object VBAP as an example.  It'sthe sales order item and has two keys - sales order number and item number.
    the key was created:
    BEGIN OF KEY,
         SALESDOCUMENTNO LIKE VBAP-VBELN,
         ITEMNO LIKE VBAP-POSNR,
    END OF KEY,
         MATERIAL TYPE SWC_OBJECT,
         SALESDOCUMENT TYPE SWC_OBJECT,
         _VBAP LIKE VBAP.
    ND_DATA OBJECT. " Do not change.. DATA is generated
    Here is a object instantiation - just build the key with the two fields - then when you call the macro - you pass the one field that already has both keys in it.
    GET_PROPERTY SALESDOCUMENT CHANGING CONTAINER.
      SWC_CREATE_OBJECT
        OBJECT-SALESDOCUMENT 'VBAK' OBJECT-KEY-SALESDOCUMENTNO.
      SWC_SET_ELEMENT CONTAINER 'SalesDocument' OBJECT-SALESDOCUMENT.
    END_PROPERTY.

  • I want to allow only specific url using class-map

    i have two  dir on server like abc and  xyz  on the web server , but i have blocked the url using class-map like *xyz*
    is there any way to allow specific url  like in dir /abc/login.html and block all the files from /abc dir

    Thanks.  Actually, I posted my query because I haven't been able to make Parental Controls in OS X do what I want. I've been trying that tool for a while.  It seems that there are sort of three options:
    1. Allow everything with no exceptions
    2. Block sites that fail an automated filter for "adult" content, and then add back allowable sites.
    3. Block everything, and then add a white list of allowed sites
    In my case, option 2 doesn't work, because frankly, I don't care if my kids choose to look at content that somebody has evaluated as "adult."  Generally, the web log says that they don't, and if that does become an issue, then I will deal with it when it arises.
    What I want to be able to do is the direct opposite of option 3 listed above:  Allow everything except an admin-specified black list defined per user, and be able to modify that list from time to time when I have a specific issue with a specific user.
    I just want to be able - from time to time, like when I know they are behind on school work - to be able block a short list of "innocuous" persistent time-sucking sites as Youtube, Facebook, Twitter etc., even though there is not necessarily any objection content per se on the sites I want to block for that specific user (the "user-specific, admin-defined blacklist").   It is the lost (mis-allocated) time, not the risk of loose morals that concerns me.
    Network-level solutions exist, but these do not allow me to discriminate among user accounts as far as I can tell.  If anybody knows of a good solution that works in OS X across various platforms - freeware or commercial - I will appreciate a lead.   Or, if there is a hack that will allow me to accomplish this in Parental Controls, I would appreciate a pointer in that direction, as well.

  • Post an XML on HTTPS URL using XI

    Hi All,
    My scenario is SAP SRM - XI - HTTP, where I am posting an XML message from XI to HTTPS URL using HTTP receiver adapter.
    Can you tell me what all step needs to be done to configure HTTP receiver adapter in this case. Also, since I have to post an XML message on HTTPS URL (Which is outside the domain), do I need to apply SSL certificates as well?
    Appreciate your help!!!
    Thanks & Regards,
    Amit

    Hi Amit
    regarding HTTP URl  just check these
    You can use the HTTP adapter. Refer to following SDN TV demo of the HHTP adapter for details steps involved into it.

  • Correct JDBC url using IPC protocol

    What is correct url to connect to db with orcl SID using IPC protocol? Couldn't find this in documentation....
    jdbc:oracle:oci:@[WHAT GOES HERE?]

    If you are having problems with TCP then you should find and fix those problems. Many thousands of others use TCP with, and without, Glassfish and it works just fine for them. That indicates you have an issue with one, or more of those four things I ask you to provide but chose not to.
    Fix would be to upgrade DB to 12.1.0.2 or downgrade to 11, where I haven't got any problems with connection pool.
    SHOW US (don't just tell us):
    1. WHAT you are doing - that means posting the code and ALL relevant info about TNSNAMES and other properties/settings being used such as connection pool settings.
    2. HOW you are doing it - that means showing a copy of the console that shows the LAUNCH and EXECUTION of the code
    3. WHAT results you get - that means showing a copy of the console showing any results or exceptions you are getting
    4. WHAT results you expected to get
    You should also do basic troublshooting:
    1. confirm that you can connect to the DB without using JDBC
    2. confirm that you can connect and work properly WITHOUT using a connection pool
    That other link you provided shows pool settings that are pretty much guaranteed to cause the pool to close connections. An idle timeout of only 60 seconds greatly increases the possibility that a connection that is checked out of the pool and still in use may get closed if it isn't returned to the pool properly.
    This link describes the attirbutes  and their defaults:
    https://docs.oracle.com/cd/E19316-01/820-4338/abhcy/index.html
    You are using SEVERAL non-default settings - and you are having a problem. That suggests you should go back to the defaults and test again.
    We can NOT see your computer screen or SEE what you are doing. We can NOT debug code that we can't see.
    Are you a bot? Or are you using some replay templates? Have you read my first post? Do I ask for help in debug any code? What code you are taking about? I ask for proper url using OCI driver over IPC protocol.
    This is my tnsnames.ora
    ORCL_IPC =
      (DESCRIPTION =
        (ENABLE = BROKEN)
        (ADDRESS_LIST =
          (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = IPC)(Key = ORCL))
          (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = localhost)(PORT = 1521))
        (CONNECT_DATA =
          (SERVER = DEDICATED)
          (SERVICE_NAME = ORCL)
    and jdbc config
    <jdbc-connection-pool validation-table-name="DUAL" datasource-classname="oracle.jdbc.pool.OracleDataSource" max-pool-size="50" res-type="javax.sql.DataSource" steady-pool-size="10" statement-cache-size="100" name="c2onlinePool" statement-timeout-in-seconds="30" is-connection-validation-required="true" idle-timeout-in-seconds="7200" max-wait-time-in-millis="10000" validate-atmost-once-period-in-seconds="60">
          <property name="driverClass" value="oracle.jdbc.OracleDriver"></property>
          <property name="user" value="***"></property>
          <property name="url" value="jdbc:oracle:thin:@127.0.0.1:1521/orcl"></property>
          <property name="password" value="***"></property>
          <property name="portNumber" value="1521"></property>
          <property name="databaseName" value="orcl"></property>
          <property name="serverName" value="127.0.0.1"></property>
    </jdbc-connection-pool>
    which is working (I'm testing with ping from glassfish web console), I just want to switch to IPC protocol.
    I tried with
    jdbc:oracle:oci:@(DESCRIPTION=(ADDRESS=(PROTOCOL=IPC)(KEY = LISTENER))(CONNECT_DATA=(SERVICE_NAME=orcl)))
    jdbc:oracle:oci:@(DESCRIPTION=(ADDRESS=(PROTOCOL=IPC)(KEY=ORCL)))
    but every time JVM crashes with stackoverflow, as soon as I click on ping in console.
    Maybe it's just another driver bug. I have similar situation with thin driver - version 12.1.0.1 didn't work, but version 12.1.0.2 worked ok.

    Hi,
    Using GET_HEADER_FIELD() / GET_HEADER_FIELDS(), the HTTP request handler can access all attributes of the HTTP header (name/value pairs).
    Refer Accessing Header Fields (SAP Library - Components of SAP Communication Technology)

I can use Webcenter PS3 worklist taskflow. But i'm not able to customize that taskflow. So, i'm going for Worklist client api.

    Can you tell me what could be the reason for the exception?
