Reader 10.1.5 ignores default zoom setting

I'm running Windows 8.  Set the default zoom to 125% and always get 67%.

You can set the default page layout and zoom by changing your preferences: Edit > Preferences > Page Display > Default Layout and Zoom
A document can explicitly set the initial page layout and zoom (magnification), which overrides your preferences. But there's another preference setting overrides that: Edit > Preferences > Accessibility > Always use Zoom Setting

  • Mail & Safari ignoring default keychain setting on 10.9 Mavericks

    Regardless of which keychain is set as default Apple Mail and Safari seem to always store saved passwords in the "local items" keychain instead of the one selected as default. Even worse, Mail is not even able to use account passwords stored in another keychain.
    What's the point in having a default keychain setting if it is ignored by two major applications using keychains? Does anyone know why there are some applications respecting the default setting and some that are not?

    SSD drives have no moving parts so are generally much more reliable than ordinary hard disks so the need for RAID1 is less. However Mail is nowadays regarded as a business critical service so you still want to minimise downtime.
    Unfortunately Apple don't make it practical to implement a server cluster using their software which would be the best approach. Other than using a different product like Microsoft Exchange which can be used in a cluster but would cost enormously more, I would use an external hardware RAID solution, perhaps the Promise Pegasus R4.
    See http://www.promise.com/storage/raid_series.aspx?m=192&region=en-global&rsn1=40&r sn3=47
    I did also find recently the following which is a FireWire external RAID enclosure for 2.5" drives but also includes hardware RAID1 support. You could use two 1TB 2.5" drives in it. It can be powered via FireWire so does not even have a power supply to possibly fail.
    See http://eshop.macsales.com/shop/firewire/EliteALmini/RAID/eSATA_FW800_FW400_USB
    As Simon mentioned you could also use a hosted mail solution, there is even the option of Office365 with the add-on of MS Exchange.

  • Default zoom setting gone?

    Just updated our iWork '09 to the latest version. In Pages 5.0 I haven't been able to find a way to change the default zoom value.
    In Pages 09' it used to be in Preferences but I can't find it anymore in the new version. I'd like to set it to 150% as text otherwise is too small and it's a pain having to set it each time.
    Is this setting now gone or is it just hiding somewhere?
    Many thanks in advance.

    Hello Rob76,
    Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
    For more information on this, take a look at:
    Pages '09: Zoom Levels
    http://support.apple.com/kb/PH10201
    To use a certain zoom level every time you open a document, choose Pages > Preferences, click Rulers, and then choose a zoom level from the Default Zoom pop-up menu.
    Best of luck,
    Mario

  • Excel 2010 - Set default zoom setting

    Hi
    All my Excel worksheets seem to be set at 60% magnification, I want to change the default to 80&, is this possible?
    Thanks
    Viv
    Viv Haig

    Hi,
    Maybe try creating an Excel addin(.xlam) with the following code:
    Public RunWhen As Double
    Private Sub Workbook_Open()
    MsgBox "The Zoom will be changed to 80%."
    cRunIntervalSeconds = 5 ' Update value every five seconds
    cRunWhat = "ThisWorkbook.TheSub" ' the name of the procedure to run
    RunWhen = Now + TimeSerial(0, 0, cRunIntervalSeconds)
    Application.OnTime EarliestTime:=RunWhen, Procedure:=cRunWhat, _
    Schedule:=True
    End Sub
    Sub TheSub()
    Dim ws As Worksheet
    For Each ws In ActiveWorkbook.Worksheets
    ws.Select
    ActiveWindow.Zoom = 80
    Next ws
    MsgBox "Zoom has been changed."
    End Sub
    Paste the code into Thisworkbook section in VBE:
    Save the workbook as .xlam file and then add this Excel addin file by:
    File > Add-Ins > Go... > Browse... > locate the .xlam file and then double click on it to add.
    Enable the macro setting in Excel.
    Next time after you open an existing workbook the code will be run to change the Zoom value to 80%.

  • Google Map default Zoom setting

    Hi.. is there a way to change the default setting in the Google map so it appears at suburb level rather than as it currently does (almost state level). Thanks DC

    Come here good people, gather around, fresh community solution coming up!
    Eat it while it's hot!
    <script>
    CMS.Maps.map.setZoom(1);
    </script>
    Add it after the webappsmap module tag.
    Adjust zoom level from 0-10 by changing the number.

  • How can I save zoom setting for a DOCUMENT so it opens at that setting?

    I find an optimal zoom setting for a document I'd like to use (say 42%) and want the document to open at that setting.  I save the document with File>Save Copy.  However when I open the document, it opens at the DEFAULT zoom setting set in the Preferences for program.  If I change the zoom level here to what I desire for that document, obviously all documents will open at that default setting.
    How can I save my desired zoom level for a document, which will most likely be different for EACH document, and have the saved document open at that setting?
    This seems like a trivial exercise / feature that should be easy to implement BOTH by the programmers of the software and the user setting the zoom level.
    Also, I want to suppress the bookmarks sidebar.  I save without the bookmarks but the documents opens with the side bar.  Can't THIS be set for each document?
    Why is it so difficult to tailor the viewing of a document to exactly what the viewer wants?

    OK.  Sorry for the mistake in posting the question here.
    Again it seems like it should be trivial to save a document in the Reader with a viewer's desired zoom setting.  I find this very helpful as I like to use a zoom setting that when scrolling down the document only one full page of the document is viewed (like turning the pages of a book).  Without this feature, partial pages are displayed when scrolling unless one experiments to find the correct zoom setting (often it is 60%).  One must do this every time one opens the same document, unless one remembers the zoom setting.
    Oh well ....

  • Is there a way to set a default zoom factor?

    I am running firefox on a media center PC attached to a HD flat-panel TV. Due to the high spatial resolution of the display device, and the relatively large viewing distance, opening web pages with a zoom factor of 1 is inadequate. It would be great if I could set a default zoom factor to use when a new web page is opened for the first time. I used 'about:config' to set 'zoom.minPercent' and 'zoom.maxPercent' to larger values. However, these parameters apparently only take effect when the zoom factor is changed for a page, and seem to be ignored when a new page is openened. And, of course, what I really want to set is not a range of allowed values, but a default value instead.

    If it is only in firefox that you have problems the ''layout.css.devPixelsPerPx ''can be changed. (That at least works in Windows systems see [https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/questions/772884#answer-126017 this thread ]; changing the interface as well as the content )
    There are also addons that may help, but unfortunately possibly not Linux compatible types.
    If it is all of your GUI including when you are using the machine offline then you may need to look at Linux, but I assume that is bound to have methods for changing screen appearance and resolution.

  • How can I set a default zoom for the browser (freeze it)?

    Hello, there's an option of using the Ctrl + + to zoom the Web page, but it reverts to the Firefox default zoom in the midst which is very annoying. Generally, I'd like to be able to set a certain default zoom level and then only if needed use the CTRL +/- zoom in and out options. So my optimal zoom level is used for all my browsing unless I change it.

    I have listed 2 add-ons below for you to consider. I have not used NoSquint, but I use and rely on Default FullZoom Level.
    *You can set a default zoom level in DFZL Options
    *You can use the mouse scroll wheel on the Add-on Bar DFZL icon to increase or decrease the zoom or click the icon and choose from the available zoom percentages.
    *In NoSquint, it says it saves the zoom level by web site/page.

  • Want to set a default zoom level for safari?  Here's how you do it.

    If you like to set a default zoom level for safari so you don't have to hit Ctrl+ (or Ctrl-) every time you start Safari and open a new tab, here's how you can do that. This should work on Safari for mac, too:
    1) create a file named defaultzoom.css (or any name you like, just make sure it has a css extension.)
    2) copy and paste in the following:
    body {
    zoom: 130%;
    change 130 to whatever number suits you. >100 means zoom in, <100 means zoom out. Don't forget the % percent sign!
    3) in safari, go to Preferences > Advanced. Under style sheet, select Other... and point to the file you created.
    4) you may need to restart safari for the change to take effect.
    Voila. Hope that helps someone.

    Yes you are right!
    This CSS zooming is a crude hack. I think it basically treats a web page like a pdf document where you just enlarges everything.
    When you zoom manually, safari does a smarter sort of zoom where it enlarges but tries to keep widths of the elements the same size, reflowing text where needed and scrolling only when necessary.
    If the web page has a fixed size that is smaller than your browser window, like this forum, css zoom works ok. But with a page like gmail, which has no width constraint, you get into trouble.
    Hmm, wait, I just checked out wiki, which also uses up all available screen real estate, but does NOT have this problem.
    Notice in gmail, even if you zoom way out below what should be 100%, the login is still off the screen. The font gets real small but the width of the page stays the same. The css zoom basically "sticks" and isn't completely reversible.
    Bottom line: you have to decide which is more annoying: having to hit Ctrl+ for every tab you open, or running into some problematic pages.
    On Windows, I use autohotkey (a kdb and mouse macro scripting program) to switch off the CSS on the fly when I need to. I think Mac has similar capability built in, right? If I were really clever, I guess I could program autohotkey to send a few ctrl+ whenever it detects a new window or tab in safari, but I'm not there yet.
    Bottom bottom line: Apple needs to add this feature. It's a pretty basic accessibility feature. Doesn't Apple have like an accessibility guru/advocate?

  • Hierarchy Viewer: Setting default zoom level and levelFetchSize

    I have couple of questions on Hierarchy Viewer:
    (1) Is it possible to set the zoom level to say 50% by default when the HV is rendered first time. By default the nodes are rendered at 100%, but I would like to render them at 50% by default - and on hover show the 100%. Is this doable ? User can then decide to zoom to 100% if desired.
    (2) Is it possible to change the levelFetchSize based on zoom level ? For example if the zoom level is 100%, levelFetchSize could be 4 but at 50%, it would be increased to 8 (since more real estate is available) ?

    It seems like the DVT by default zooms to fit the available real estate. But is it possible to set a fixed zoom level (say 75%) even if the node does have 100% zoom level. We would like to show the 100% zoom level only on hover to the node. But by default, wanted to to set the viewer to always show 75% or 50% zoom level.

  • Setting default zoom level for creating bookmarks

    I am creating a PDF file in a couple of steps.  The main text is created from Word, which gives me bookmarks automatically set to "Inherit Zoom."  I also create subsets of tables and figures by "combining files in Acrobat" from Windows Explorer.  That step creates bookmarks automatically that are set to "Fit Width."  I then add the pages from the tables and figures into the PDF created from the Word document.  The bookmarks come in the proper location, but the zoom level stays "Fit Width."  I'd like it to be either "Inherit Zoom" or "Fit Page."  Is there a way to set the default zoom for bookmark creation so I don't have to manually change each bookmark?

  • Can Firefox be set to a default zoom that doesn't change back to small each time a new website is accessed? Downloaded add-on did not solve

    I have a new iMac with a large 27" monitor. I'd like to set a 225% default zoom on Firefox-- currently, each newly accessed website must be manually enlarged because the 225% size won't remain the default size for all websites; this is very frustrating. NoSquint add-on did not solve this problem for me. Am I doing something wrong?
    I'd greatly appreciate any help you could provide because I've had to switch to Safari for web browsing and I much prefer Firefox.
    Thank you

    Hi palmetto2008, <br>
    check this article: [[Font size and zoom - increase the size of web pages]]
    <br>
    Shortly, you can configure Firefox to display all text at a minimum font size. If a web page contains text that is smaller than your defined minimum size, Firefox increases the font size of the text to this minimum. To set a minimum text size:
    * On the menu bar, click on the Firefox menu and select Preferences...
    * Select the Content panel.
    * In the Fonts & Colors pane, click Advanced....
    * In the Minimum Font Size drop-down, select the minimum size in pixels in which all text must be displayed.
    <br>
    Regarding NoSquint addon, you should be able to override the default zoom options and keep your settings between Firefox restarts. <br>
    See also here: [https://urandom.ca/nosquint/help.php NoSquint Help Page]
    <br>
    Apparently, there are many addons offering your desired feature like:
    * Default FullZoom Level
    * Zoom Page
    <br>
    Hope that helped you! Please report back!
