Reader 11 doesn't like LiveScribe files
Trying to open any LiveScribe pdf file with Adobe Reader 11.0.02 in Safari 5.0.5 gives a message that the file may contain malicious content, and that Reader must close. Upon acknowledging the message, Safari itself then closes. The LiveScribe files are known to be free of malicious content. I had to uninstall v.11 and go back to v.10.1.5
Hi - this thread is a year old and it doesn't seem to be resolved. I have the same problem using Acrobat Reader XI on Windows 8.1. When I try and load the pdf file into Reader it crashes straightaway. Dear Adobe - please fix.

Adobe Reader doesn't open .pdf files anymore. Error: 213:11.
Adobe Reader doesn't open .pdf files anymore. It's written Error: 213:11. Details: laptop with Windows XP, Adobe Reader X
Are these local or online documents? If online, in what browser? If local, does the documents folder and docs themselves have sufficient permissions?
Is there anything else beside the number 213:11? -
Reader doesnˋt save edited files
Hello Community,
Iˋve huge issues with my Adobe Reader.
I always add my class notes directly into the PDF-files. Last semester it has been working perfectly fine.
This semester the Reader doesnˋt save the edited document. Instead it saves other version (_1, _2,...) each time pdf is viewed.
Iˋve already updated the App, reset the tablet as well as reinstalled the App.
How can I solve this issue?
Thank you,
VeronikaHi Veronika
Sorry that this is causing trouble. Actually, the problem has arisen because you opened the file from the "folder" each time with Mobile Link - on. Mobile Link auto uploads your local document to the cloud and shows it in Recents. The best way to use this feature is to open files from Acrobat.com.
I ran your exact steps and found the problem. We will work towards fixing it in our next release. For now, you can follow these steps to recover the changes in your document:
1. The local file in your file manager, "Vertriebsmanagement" should contain all the changes you made to it whenever you opened it from that location. From your email below, it seems you started opening the file from Recents too. Those change would not be in the local file, but step 2 will help you retrieve those changes too.
2. To get rid of the multiple versions of the documents created on the cloud, follow these steps:
Visit files.acrobat.com from a computer/browser.
Login to Acrobat.com account and click on Files.
Click on Recent Files tab.
The files will be sorted by Date Viewed. Open the topmost version of your file. Note that it must have been renamed to "abc (y)". Ensure it has all the changes that you made. It will have the changes that you made when you kept opening the file from local file storage.
Close the file. Select all other versions of this file from the list and delete them. Note that these file versions will begin with the filename and followed by numbers.
Rename the file that you didn't delete to the original file name.
3. Going forward, to use Mobile Link - ensure that after opening a new file from local file storage, it is always opened from Recents on your mobile device. Since the local file was uploaded to the cloud, it is best to always open the cloud file to ensure all your changes are sync'd back to the cloud as well.
Hope this helps resolve your issue. Please let me know if it doesn't
Thanks

Why Acrobat Reader doesn't open pdf-files from Safari?
I'm new Mac user and cannot find answer why I cannot open pdf-files directly from Safari. My Macbook OS X 10.9.3 and Safari is 7.0.4. Only way to open pdf-files is to download the content first and then open it. If I try to open it directly Acrobat says "Before proceeding you must first launch Adobe Acrobat and accept the end user license agreement". I have downloaded Acrobat Reader several times already and cannot understand what I'm doing wrong.
Back up all data before making any changes. Please take each of the following steps until the problem is resolved.
Step 1
If Adobe Reader or Acrobat is installed, and the problem is just that you can't print or save PDF's displayed in Safari, you may be able to do so by moving the cursor to the the bottom edge of the page, somewhere near the middle. A black toolbar should appear under the cursor. Click the printer or disk icon.
Step 2
There should be a setting in its preferences of the Adobe application such as Display PDF in Browser. I don't use those applications myself, so I can't be more precise. Deselect that setting, if it's selected.
Step 3
If you get a message such as ""Adobe Reader blocked for this website," then from the Safari menu bar, select
Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Security
and check the box marked
Allow Plug-ins
Then click
Manage Website Settings...
and make any required changes to the security settings for the Adobe PDF plugin.
Step 4
Triple-click anywhere in the line of text below on this page to select it, the copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C:
/Library/Internet Plug-ins
In the Finder, select
Go ▹ Go to Folder
from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-G. Paste into the text box that opens by pressing command-V, then press return.
From the folder that opens, move to the Trash any items that have "Adobe" or “PDF” in the name. You may be prompted for your login password. Then quit and relaunch Safari.
Step 5
The "Silverlight" web plugin distributed by Microsoft can interfere with PDF display in Safari, so you may need to remove it, if it's present. The same goes for a plugin called "iGetter," and perhaps others—I don't have a complete list. Don't remove Silverlight if you use the "Netflix" video-streaming service.
Step 6
Do as in Step 4 with this line:
~/Library/Internet Plug-ins
If you don’t like the results of this procedure, restore the items from the backup you made before you started. Relaunch Safari. -
Adobe reader doesn't open PDF files, get windows media player
When I go to downloads page in Firefox and try to open a PDF file which has been saved on the Downloads page, Windows media player opens instead of Adobe reader.

Updated Firefox doesn't like to use Adobe Acrobat reader to read pdf files. Why
Since I have upgraded to a newer version of Firefox, I can no longer read or print most pdf files found on the internet with Adobe Acrobat reader. This is very frustrating. It has been happening for the past 3 weeks.

Create desktop quietly fails - doesn't like my ".portal" file
Guys,
Since SP2, we're having trouble creating a desktop to "import" our ".portal" file.
After going through the sequence of clicks, it just comes back quietly but the
desktop is not there. It only does this if I "Choose a Template". It seems that
it doesn't like something in my template file but gives no indication of what.
If I revert back to an old template file, it works. However, I also re-created
a new template file from scratch and it won't read that one either.
Any clues?
Is there some debug/logging options for Admin Portal?
Thanks,
PhilJeff,
Thanks for the reply.
The .portal file was created in workshop and workshop reads it fine.
I discovered that after deleting all my books and pages from the Admin Portal
library, it imported my .portal file successfully. I'm thinking it finds some
"Definition Label" conflict between those in the .portal file and what's in the
library.

Hi Phil - was there no error message on the console? If not, please
check the
portalServer.log file and/or wl-domain.log file for that server session.
There
should be an error message listed there. It sounds like it's most likely
bad
xml in the .portal file. Did you create the new .portal file in Workshop?
Does
it open correctly there?

Encore CS4 Flash output - server doesn't like file names
Apparently my ftp server for my web site does not like files with spaces in the names, but Encore seems to use spaces in some of the file names for the png files in the menus. Is there any way around this? Can I force it to replace spaces with underscores? Can I go in and manually change the links and the file names (there aren't too many). this is very annoying - how could this happen?
Thanks,
ScottIf your server doesn't like spaces in file names, it's likely due to HTML address rules. However, these files won't be linked via HTML, but through the AuthoredContent.xml file directly into the SWF playing in the Flash player, which doesn't have the same limitations as HTML.
If your server is kicking a fuss up about this, replace the single space character in the PNG filename with an underscore character (do this at file system level), then edit the AuthoredContent.xml file and replace the space character in the PNG filename with an underscore character. Save everything, and then upload the files in the same hierarchy that Encore exports.
That should do it. -
I upgraded to Lion and now can't print PDF files and Acrobat reader doesn't work anymore. What can I do to get it working?
If you upgraded and were using a version of Acrobat Reader that was legacy, that is PPC compatible, then you will have to upgrade to a version compatible with Lion as Lion no longer has Rosetta to interface with the legacy software.
I know that Acrobat, full version, 10 works with Lion...use it myself. -
Why doesn't my text file get read properly with BufferedReader??
Here is my code:
File props = new File("c:\\jdk13\\props.spm");
FileReader in = new FileReader(props);
BufferedReader br = new BufferedReader(in);
String line= new String("");
while(br.readLine() != null){
line = (br.readLine());
System.out.println(line);
I also tried InputStreamReader but that didn't work right either. Basically, I want to read the lines of a text file which looks like this:
excite.com
hotmail.com
yahoo.com
with the code above, all it sems to read is "hotmail.com" and then a null. what is going on here? anybody have working examples of a BufferedReader reading lines from a text file?
thanks in advance,
chuckIt's happening because you say this:
read the first line
put the next line in the variable line
print it
read the next line
put the next line in the variable line
print it
read the next line - null so I'm done
.readln does just what it says - reads the line. That said, you can do this:
while ( (line = br.readLine() ) != null ) {
System.out.println( line );

LR 4.2RC and ACR 7.2 RC won't read SONY RX 100 ARW files
I was at a wedding yesterday and had two cameras with me - a Nikon D800 and my little SONY RX 100. I was using an Eye-Fi Pro card for the Sony. I'm uninterested in the Wi-Fi capabilities when I'm away from home, but like the camera to upload pictures when I'm close to my big processing machine. Long story short. This was the first time I've used the LR 4.2RC and ACR 7.2RC with the Sony RX 100. I plugged the card into both the regular Eye-Fi USB reader, and into my Hoodman USB 3.0 reader. Of course, LR doesn't like the Eye-Fi reader, but it loves the Hoodman. Finally, it recognized the Hoodman and the Eye-Fi card. I have previews set to minimal and I was attempting to import all the raw (ARW) files into Lightroom. When the initial previews come up as I start the import process, it shows about 1/3 of the previews and then tells me it can't read the rest, including MP4 files. When I actually begin the import, it simply times out and reports that it was unable to import ANY of the ARW files, nor the MP4 files. I have no trouble reading 63 files into Raw Photo Processor so I know there is nothing wrong with any of the files. I can only conclude that there is something wrong with LR 4.2 and/or ACR 7.2.
Anyone else reporting this problem? I'm puzzled because this is the ONLY time I have ever had trouble importing files from supported cameras.
Thanks for feedback.Well. After some experimentation, I discovered what the problem seems to be. For reasons completely opaque to me, Lightroom expects not only that the Eye-Fi card will be read from its own reader, but it also expects that the Eye-Fi helper application be installed and running. Of course, this means that I end up with duplicate copies of every file - once to the Eye Fi directory, and again to the appropriate Lightroom Folder on a completely different set of drives. I guess the conclusion I can draw from this is that without the helper application, the Eye Fi card is dumb and the images only partly visibible. The Eye-Fi helper can import the .ARW files, but it doesn't display them because Apple hasn't updated its camera list to include the RX100. Until they do, I think I'll just use regular cards and consign the Eye-Fi card to the hall of unhelpful cards. Yikes, the darned thing is as expensive as the Lightroom upgrade.

File(FTP) Adapter doesn't pick any file from FTP server
Hi All,
This is a strange problem. I am trying to pick all the file from a FTP server using File Name: . . But the file adapter doesn't pick any file from the directory. When I change it to a specific file name eg. ABC.txt then it picks up the file ABC.txt only.
My requirement is to pick up all files in the directory and I just do not seem to understand what is wrong. I have used this wildcard option several times earlier and it always worked fine. But in this case, this does not work.
I changed the FTP server to point to an internal FTP server and it works fine.
I have checked all my parameters and everything looks okay. Like I mentioned earlier, if you specify exact file name, it picks up the file.
Any guess as to what is going on here?Transport Protocol: FTP

I have made a movie in "Final Cut Pro X" saved it as a .mov file and "QuickTime" won't open it. It keeps saying that it doesn't recognize the file. Ironically there is another .mov file right next to it on the flash drive that opens just fine. I do notice that the one it does open looks like a little black box with a 'play' arrow button in it when I run the curser over it, but the one it doesn't open has a 'Quicktime' 'Q' in it.
I try to eject the flash drive and it says "Final Cut Pro X" is still using it, then it shows me a window that shows 6% progress. I am thinking maybe the movie is still loading. I really don't know.Try VLC.
