Reader 11- Shrink oversized pages

Adobe reader 11 "Shrink oversized pages" does not work
Some Adobe documents created at 8.5 X 11 are created with too small of a margin for printer causing right side to be cut off. Selecting "Shrink oversized pages"  does not work to scale page to fit on 8.5  x 11 paper.  Scaling document down enough to fit causes huge margin on right side.
Try it with IRS Form 1023  to see what I mean.
Margin settings are greyed out in printer settings.  They are currently set at "1"
I only have this problem with Adobe documents.
Using Win XP Pro.  Printer is Xerox 6200 DN

I am on a Mac 10.8.5 using a Xerox Phaser 3320 laser printer as well as an HP Photosmart C5580 inkjet printer. When printing an oversized document (let's say 12 x 17" or any size larger than letter size) from Acrobat Pro X, if I use either the "fit" or the "shrink oversize pages" buttons, the document still prints out full size, meaning only a small portion of it ends up on the 8.5 x 11" paper both of these printers use. The preview of what should print works just fine and appears that the whole document will print out in a reduced size to fit on the paper. In actuality though, just a portion of the of the document prints out because it is printing at full size rather than reducing to fit the paper.

  • Have just reinstalled Acrobat Pro XI and the Fit and shrink to page size options are not working - Any ideas?

    When printing to a laser device my Acrobat Pro XI all of a sudden was not shrinking oversized pages to fit on paper. The Fit and Shrink to page options did not work. Could still output file reduced by using the percentage box but wondered if anyone else has encountered this problem before? Reinstalled Acrobat but problem still there.

    I suddenly have started having this same problem. Anyone have an answer?

  • Trouble printing converted document - no "Shink Oversized Pages" option in Word

    Hi gurus
    I have a document which was originally created in Word, apparently to print as A2.  I now have it in PDF format only.  It prints fine in A4 size due to the selection Shink Oversized Pages defaulting on in Adobe Reader.
    Of course, I need to edit the document, so I converted it to Word.  I now have problems printing, as there is apparently no such equivalent option and I have to either resize everything (not feasible - it would be quicker to create the document from scratch) or save back to PDF then print from PDF rather than Word.
    There must be an easier way?  Can't the PDF conversion/export software be set to A4?
    Thanks
    Lynton

    If the conversion software exported as A4, Word would reflow the layout in the same way it would when you do Page Setup in Word - the layout would be utterly destroyed. What ExportPDF won't do is shrink as it exports to A4. (Perhaps a useful option, but certainly not what everyone would want or need).
    You could always reconvert your Word back to PDF for printing.

  • Reading XML data from .pages file

    Hi All!
    I've been trying to get a script up and running, but frankly I'm lost. The script should read the date, lesson no, and name fields from a .pages file and then use that information to send an e-mail.
    What I'm having a problem with is reading the data from the .pages file and I don't know what the best way to do it is because I'm still a novice at this.
    So there are two ways I can think of:
    1. Read directly from the Pages document when it is open. The problem with this is that it's a Pages template and it contains tables. Perhaps the easiest thing would be just to select certain cells directly from pages, but I have no idea how they're labeled or how to access them so I came up with a second idea. If you happen to know how to do this, I would greatly appreciate it.
    2. Pages documents can be unzipped and one of the files is an xml file with a lot of tags and the data I need. I found the following post that talks about how to parse XML via an XSL stylesheet. After going through some tutorials, I got stuck because the xml itself in the Pages file is just a mess to me and I'm confused about which node to choose. In other xml docs you can see a clear, nicely laid out tabbed structure so you can at least figure out the path to the node you want. I stumbled across a nice script for TextWrangler which cleans up XML, but it just barks at the Pages file.
    3. On top of that, I will need to use the name field and match that with an Address Book e-mail address. Should I change the template and make it into an address book field?
    Thanks in advance,
    Paul

    The script should read the date, lesson no, and name fields from a .pages file and then use that information to send an e-mail.
    Maybe you might want to try the following script:
    tell application "Pages"
        activate
        tell foreground layer of page 1 of front document
            select (text box 1 whose vertical position < 0.5)
            tell application "System Events"
                keystroke "c" using {command down} -- ⌘C
                keystroke "a" using {shift down, command down} -- ⇧⌘A
            end tell
            set theText to the clipboard
        end tell
    end tell
    set TID to AppleScript's text item delimiters
    set AppleScript's text item delimiters to tab
    set theTextFields to text items of theText
    set AppleScript's text item delimiters to TID
    set {theDate, theLessonNo, theStudent} to {item 2, item 4, item 6} of theTextFields

    You can only use the US store if you are in the US with a US billing address on your account - the US store's terms of use (and they will be similar for all countries) :
    The iTunes Service is available to you only in the United States, its territories, and possessions. You agree not to use or attempt to use the iTunes Service from outside these locations. Apple may use technologies to verify your compliance.

    Hi snoreaustralia,
    It sounds like you just need to associate the PDF filename extension with Acrobat, rather than Preview. Please see this document from the Microsoft Help for instructions on choosing the default program for opening a particular file type (in your case, PDF): Change which programs Windows uses by default - Windows Help

  • When I save a Word 2010 doc as a pdf file, it opens up in Adobe Reader as a blank page, no text, no background etc.

    When I save a Word 2010 doc as a pdf file, it opens up in Adobe Reader as a blank page, no text, no background etc.  I am logged on as the Administrator, running Windows 7, using Microsoft Home and Business 2010.

    You were right, it was a Microsoft problem.
    I got it...I am now able to save a Word 2010 document as a pdf file.  Here is what I did/found:
    In Word, go to File, Options, Display and make sure that "Print drawing created in word" is CHECKED.
    Mine was unchecked and when I checked it everything came back and is working as it did before.  The only thing I can think of is that a Microsoft Update may have changed this selection...I know I DID NOT make any changes in the options.
    One other thing I noticed in my saved documents folders was that a lot of my files showed up as PDF's and would still not open until I selected one and told it to default to open as a word document and then they all changed back and I was able to open them in word again.
    I hope this helps others out there.

  • How do I link pages similar to my e-edition newspaper? I subscribe to an app version of my complete local newspaper. When reading an article on page 1a I can click a link to continue to read on page 4a. Then it flips through the paper to page 4a.

When reading an article on page 1a I can click a link to continue to read on page 4a. Then it flips through the paper to page 4a. Once done reading 4a I can click a link back to page 1a. I would like to embed these links in a 100+ page document in order to flip back and forth throughout it for quick reference.

    You can do this on your computer using Adobe Acrobat. Buy the program and learn how to create complex PDFs.

  • Running H/F to read Header from Previous Page?

    Hopefully someone has figured this one out and can share the solution with me.
    I'm using Framemaker 7.1
    I have a Heading (Call it HeadingX) with body text below it.
    That body text carries over to the next page. On that same carry over page I also have another HeadingX.
    I would like to have a running H/F that reads the Header from the prevous page ( and displays as: HeadingX continued).
    I'm aware of using the +, - feature in the building block and tried the -
    <paratext[-, HeadingX]
    but that still reads from the current page.
    is there any way to use the - with some sort of command to read back to the previous page only... to ignore instances if the HeaderX on the current page and beyond?
    It seems like it should be so simple but I'm stumped.

    OK, I still haven't had any luck with the markers (thank you though for trying to help me).
    Here's what I have:
    A Heading X (with a marker) and then body that flows to a second page. On that second page, I have the Running H/F reading the marker from the previous page (displaying as: HeadingX continued)
    But further down that second page, I have a new Heading X (with a marker) and body that flows to a third page.
    This creates the problem because the Runing H/F picks up the new HeadingX marker on the current page.
    My solution seems simple but perhaps does not exist:
    I need a Running H/F that will ignore content on the current page and ONLY READ BACKWARDS to previous pages.
    Is there a way for someone to program such a thing? Is there an API for Framemaker out there to do this?
    This format is a requirement for MIL-STD-40051 and I can't believe I'm the only/first one to ever face this dilemma!

  • Acrobat reader plugin displays last page in IExplorer

    For some reason, when I open a PDF using IExplorer, the acrobat reader displays the last page of the PDF document (instead of the first page). Not sure why this is happening, because it works ok when I use other browsers (like firefox, chrome and opera). Is this a plugin error?
    The PDF version is 1.2 (it seems not all the PDF documents behave this way). I tried to change the document version using a third party java library and Adobe professional, but it didn't work.

    IF that were entirely true, then the whole purpose of this thread is moot (automating printing server side). It is possible to load the file via URLs using the following html code:
    "<"body>
    "<"OBJECT id="pdf"
    type="application/pdf"
    width=800
    height=600 >
    "<"param name="src" value="http://localhost/pdfs/vorder_nc.pdf"/>
    "<"/OBJECT>
    "<"script language="JavaScript">
    function waitLoad()
    setTimeout("printFile()",2000);
    function printFile()
    var objPdf = document.getElementById('pdf');
    objPdf.PrintAllFit(1);
    "<"/script>
    "<"/body>
    So, if I used php or some other scripting language on the server to fill in the name of the pdf, I can load it via a URL, wait a couple of seconds for it to load, and then print it without user interaction. I wish that the LoadFile method would load a URL so that when it returns, I know it is loaded and I don't have to put faith in a timer that may not be enough for a large file.
    This is the situation I'm in. This way works but I don't like the timer. I'd rather have the plugin let me know when it's loaded. Is there another method that can help me do what I want?
    Thank again.

  • Add a page still visible under the gear even Read permissions for the Pages Library

    Hi,
    Some of the employees have Read permissions on the Pages Library. The permissions have been broken for this Library.
    They still see the 'Add a page' action under the gear. So if they want to create a page, SP asks for a page name and then they received the request to get access.
    Is it a bug or is it standard?
    Thanks,
    Christophe

    Hi,
    I have done a test in my SharePoint 2013 to reproduce your issue, but I can't reproduce the issue.
    If the users only have read permission on the Pages Library. They can't see the 'Add a page' action under the gear.
    I suggest you use check permission to check the permission for the users, make sure they only have read permission on the Pages library.
    Then you can do a test in another library and compare whether the issue is exists. if not, remove the user from the Page library and set read permission for him again.
    If the issue still exists, Please offer a screenshot about the issue.
    I am looking forward to your reply back.

    When printing some emails on Xerox 7225 the print is too small to read even with page shrink on 30%. latest email is from an AOL account and header lines do wrap. This problem is new.

    Select the email
    'File' > 'Print Preview'
    You can change the size of the font by changing the 'Scale'.
    increase the Scale to increase the font.
    so start by selecting: Scale = 100%
    When all looks ok, click on 'Print' button

    I opened up a PDF and it opened in Preview and i need to print the page of the pdf but shrink it so it takes up 1/4 of the page and it has to be in the corner. What do I do?

    Use Adobe Reader
    File > Print...
    > Pages: (page number)
    > Multiple > Pages per sheet 2 x 2
    You need to print one page at a time.
