Reader 11 / Windows Trusted Sites
Hello everyone
I'm trying to configure Adobe Reader to recognize my Windows Trusted Sites so I can enable the protected view for all documents. In the internet options security zone "trusted sites" I already added my fileserver. (file://fs001)
I can't get Adobe Reader to deal with this setting and I don't know why. The "automatically trust sites from my Win OS security zones" checkbox is activated but it won't work at all. It works if I add de location (\\fs001) through the GUI of Adobe Reader. Without this entry I always get the yellow bar on the top.
Can someone help me with this Problem?
Thank you
Hi Team,

Unable to view external webcam content. I'm using IE11 with Windows 7 64 bit. I've tried deactivating Activex control, tried different browsers etc, tweeked the tools for trusted sites etc, but am totally stuck. I know the cams are working as i can view them on mobile phone via puffin browser. I can play Youtube videos etc just fine. So why not the webcam?
First, confirm that ActiveX Filtering is configured to allow Flash content:
https://forums.adobe.com/thread/867968
Internet Explorer 11 introduces a number of changes both to how the browser identifies itself to remote web servers, and to how it processes JavaScript intended to target behaviors specific to Internet Explorer. Unfortunately, this means that content on some sites will be broken until the content provider changes their site to conform to the new development approach required by modern versions of IE.
You can try to work around these issues by using Compatibility View:
http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/internet-explorer/use-compatibility-view#ie=ie-11
If that is too inconvenient, using Google Chrome may be a preferable alternative. -

Trusted Sites Not appearing in Windows 7 & IE10
We have GPO setup to configure IE10. This has been working great until recently (We cant find what has changed to cause this) . When checking IE10 Internet Security settings the trusted sites list is now empty. It used to be there . We have done some investigation
work and this only happens to users creating a new local profile on a workstation. So users with existing profiles do not experience this issue. GPO is being applied - have run RSOP and all looks good from that. Any help would be very greatful. How are you setting the trusted sites with Group Policy? Check out this guide - it might help:

Also - do you see any errors in event viewer?

How can I add a trusted site in Safari to access our secure Sharepoint site from the internet?
My company has a secure sharepoint site that we access from the internet that requires our Active Directory logon. The Safari on the iPad does not allow you to add the URL as a trusted site and thus it prompts you for your username and password multiple times when navigating to various content. The solution for full blown browsers is to just add the URL as a trusted site in your browser security settings. Is there a work around for this or will Apple perhaps add this capability to add trusted sites to the mobile version of Safari?
Non-Windows browsers do not have a concept of a "trusted" site. In Windows, IE and Chrome do not repeatedly prompt for credentials because they use the user's login credentials on the desktop. Other devices do not have this capability. Instead,
you need to use something like ADFS to authenticate users.

I have an issue where a user is prompted with an "Allow or Block" dialog everytime she clicks a link within a company created PDF. The links all go to intranet sites, which are defined in the intranet section, and even placed in tnhe Trusted Sites as well. How can I stop this dialog from popping up each time?
Software versions in play are:
Acrobat X
Windows 7
IE 9
TIA for any assistance. Please be more specific.
How are the servers defined in the Trust Manager and the OS Internet Options Control Panel?
http://mycompanyserver.mycompanyname.com
But does the link in the PDF file look something like this:
http://mycompanyserver/pathtothePDFfile/thePDFfile.pdf
If so, then Acrobat and Windows are probably not seeing it as the same server. The FQDN (Fully Qualified Domain Name) is not defined as the same server.
The same would be said for a server that had "https://" in front of the URL. It's not considered the same server because it exists on a different port number. Usually 443 for https. -
Trusted Sites GPO only works for administrators
I've got a major problem and was hoping somebody could help me. I've got a hundred users or so that connect to an RDS Farm. The RDS farm is made up of several Windows Server 2008 R2 servers. One with IE 10 and the other with IE 8.
The problem that I'm having is if add sites to zone assignment in group policy and add sites to the trusted zone it will only work for users that are administrators. I found a reference to this problem and the issue being IE Enhanced Security, but
Enhanced Security is turned off.
If I'm a normal user with Remote Desktop User rights and I go into IE and check Trusted Sites, there is nothing there. If I login as administrator and check I can see all the trusted sites.
Anyone know how I can fix this?Hi Cyprus,
Please check if you have the computers or users needing the policy are in a group that is specified. Remember that domain users includes all users, domain computers includes all computer, and authenticated users includes both users and computer. By
default, a GPO will be scoped to Authenticated Users.
Also please run gpresult command on non-administrator user to check if it sync to client successfully.
In addition, I suggest you ask Group Policy forum for more professional help:
https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/windowsserver/en-US/home?forum=winserverGP
The reason why we recommend posting appropriately is you will get the most qualified pool of respondents, and other partners who read the forums regularly can either share their knowledge or learn from your interaction with us. Thank you for your understanding.

How to add trusted sites to group policy?
I found this:
Trusted sites policies can be set at the computer or user level and are located at the relative path of administrative templates: \Windows Components\Internet Explorer\Internet Control Panel\Security Page\Trusted Sites Zone.
But in the right side of the Trusted Sites Zone, I did not see any option to enter the sites. I'm using IE7.
Help is appreciated.I have added sites to this exact location, I set them to apply to USERS Settings. They never apply. Now I know the policy is being applied since other settings in the GPO are applied and when I run a gpresult /z it shows that my policy was applied.
How come adding sites to the Site Zone Assign does not work? I've tried on both XP and Windows 7 workstations too.
Here are some notes I had made on this topic (the steps are based around using Local GP Editor, gpedit.msc, but, apply almost exactly to Domain GP)
You can examine the registry keys & values on a machine, to see if the GP settings are applying or not.
Also, note that if the browser is already running in memory when the GP is applied, the browser UI may not reflect the GP settings until all browser sessions are closed.
Local GP Editor
[Path within gpedit.msc:]
\User Configuration\Administrative Templates\Windows Components\Internet Explorer\Internet Control Panel\Security Page\
or
\Computer Configuration\Administrative Templates\Windows Components\Internet Explorer\Internet Control Panel\Security Page\
[Setting Name:] Site to Zone Assignment List
[Steps to enable the setting:]
Double-click the setting name, to open the setting dialog.
Click <Enabled> radio button
In the <Comment> field, type in a meaningful comment, e.g. <add site URLs to the Trusted Sites zone>
Click <Show> button
In the <Value name> field, type in the URL pattern you want to *add* to the zone, e.g. <http://*.contoso.com>
In the <Value> field, type in the number which represents the browser zone you want this URL to be related to, e.g. <2>
Click <OK> button [to save and exit the table]
Click <OK> button [to save the GP settings]
Because this method uses the "classic" admin templates GP, any existing sites in the specified zone will be removed, and, the GP values will be applied, and,
*the user will be unable to modify the values via the Internet Explorer user interface*
If you need to add sites into zones, but wish to leave the user the ability to further modify the site-to-zone values, you cannot use "classic" GP, but may use another method such as GPP or IEAK.
Relevant Registry keys (when configured by the user, via IE tools, options dialog):
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\ZoneMap\Domains\microsoft.com\support
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\ZoneMap\EscDomains\microsoft.com\*.update
[EscDomains refers to the enhanced security config upon WindowsServerOS]
Relevant Registry keys (when configured by admin templates):
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\ZoneMap\Domains\contoso.org
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\ZoneMap\Domains\blah.org

Including Trusted sites for flash
In flex help documentation it is mentioned that if swf file
is loaded from a website which is listed trusted in browser, then
it acts as if file in local trusted sandbox.
But it does not work. Has anyone tried it?
Here is the help quote:
"Trusted sites and directories
The browser security model includes levels of trust applied
to specific websites. Flash Player interacts with this model by
assigning a sandbox based on whether the browser declared the site
of the SWF file's origin trusted.
If Flash Player loads a SWF file from a trusted website, the
SWF file is put in the local-trusted sandbox. The SWF file can read
from local data sources and communicate with the Internet."
http://livedocs.adobe.com/flex/3/html/help.html?content=security2_03.html
find 'Trusted sites and directories'.Thanks laurent.
But the scenario is a sfollows. I have two web server running
on a host. one is apache and another is wsman(Windows remote mgmt
service).
I place swf file under apache root. Now this swf has to
access data from same host but from wsman server.
swf url is
http://host:apacheport/my.swf
wsman url is
http://host:wsmanport/wsman.
Ws man server does not allow any kind of file to place at its
root and accept just the POST request.
So I could not use cross domain file under wsman.
Now as per flex documentation if I include host in the
trusted list of the browser, it does not need cros domain.
But it does not work. Did they changed the policy for new
flash versions. -
Group Policy Preferences - Internet Settings - Trusted Sites
hi all
I can't set Trusted Zone (Site) with GPO Preferences - Internet Settings because it is grey?
ChrisHi Chris,
The Trusted Sites cannot be added using Group Policy Preferences. But you can add it by native group policy.
The group policy settings are here:
User Configuration\Administrative Templates\Windows Components\Internet Explorer\Internet Control Panel\Security Page\Trusted Sites Zone
If you really want to use the GPP, please manually add the registry keys through GPP.

Miya

In Internet Explorer I can set Trusted Sites, how do I do this in Firefox?
MS Internet Explorer browser, in the security settings, has the ability to set "Trusted Sites". Sites that I trust that will not harm my computer and are thus allowed to open pop-ups and other features that are needed to interact with the website.
I am unable to get data feeds when using Firefox and the help desk supporting my application requested me to add their url's as Trusted Sites in my browser. I am able to do this with the MS Browser but I cannot find an equivalent function in Firefox. There is actually a setting in the prefs.js file that you can set that will add "trusted sites" to Firefox. Open a windows explorer window, browse to your local appdata directory via "%APPDATA%\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles". There you should find a subfolder with a ".default" title. Look inside for a "prefs.js" file.
In prefs.js, look for this line:
user_pref("network.automatic-ntlm-auth.trusted-uris"); then simply add the site you want to trust. i.e.
user_pref("network.automatic-ntlm-auth.trusted-uris", "http://www.msn.com");
Open Firefox and viola, trusted site is good to go.
You can also do this in Firefox. Type about:config in the address bar, tell it "I'll be careful, I promise", then look for the entry:
network.automatic-ntlm-auth.trusted-uris
Double click it and then add your site using http://<site url here> -

So I want to add reg key
Are the reg keys below me for 1 trusted site or 2?

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\ZoneMap\EscDomains\mytest.org\pacs] "https"=dword:00000002The keys are for one trusted site only (mytest.org as per the entry).
The four keys are to be created for each website.

How come sometimes I can load FB and other times I get the "this is a not trusted site?"
Sometimes I can get right into FB, this also happens on Internet explorer. And sometimes I get the not a trusted site message. If it is happening on Firefox it will also be on IE and Goggle at the same time. Sometimes I get into FB then cannot contact to Farmville. Yet 5 minutes later I can get in. Very,Very frustrating. Any answers out there?
There are two things to check.
* Check your system clock.
Sometimes the clock / date is wrong, and causes problems like this. Open
your clock (normally you right click its icon). Go thru its menus to check for
the correct time, and time zone. Also, make sure that the option to
'''Synchronizing with an Internet time server''' is turned on.
Sometimes a problem with Firefox may be a result of malware installed on your computer, that you may not be aware of.
You can try these free programs to scan for malware, which work with your existing antivirus software:
* [http://www.microsoft.com/security/scanner/default.aspx Microsoft Safety Scanner]
* [http://www.malwarebytes.org/products/malwarebytes_free/ MalwareBytes' Anti-Malware]
* [http://support.kaspersky.com/faq/?qid=208283363 TDSSKiller - AntiRootkit Utility]
* [http://www.surfright.nl/en/hitmanpro/ Hitman Pro]
* [http://www.eset.com/us/online-scanner/ ESET Online Scanner]
[http://windows.microsoft.com/MSE Microsoft Security Essentials] is a good permanent antivirus for Windows 7/Vista/XP if you don't already have one.
Further information can be found in the [[Troubleshoot Firefox issues caused by malware]] article.

When I go to "checkout" on Borders.com, I get an error message. The message is as follows:

I have tried refreshing, clearing cookies, and everything I can think of. Customer service told me it had to do with security settings, and that I had to add it to my trusted sites. I have never had to do this before, so I'm jsut wondering if this was true, and how to do it.Are they multi-function units? Do they include a scanner? Most people call these multi-function copiers, not printers. Printers don't have a scanner in them.
