Reader 8.1.2 :  garbled / scrambled text when printing

After upgrading to version 8.1.2 from 7.1, our work place noticed that certain PDF documents will print garbled text if the Reader window is closed prior to the document being completely processed in the Print Queue. (Windows XP) These documents are PDF files that use an active script to import information from the user's log-in to fill in various fields (name, birth date, etc...). For example, if you print a document that is 10 pages and you close the Reader window prior to the 10th page being printed, every page printed after the closed window will be printed with garbled/scrambled text. This issue is not present before version 8. Its as if Adobe 8 maintains a link to spool/stream data from the Reader window to the print queue. Has anybody else experienced this or any suggestions for a fix? (other than rolling back to version 7) thnks

Hi,
I am having a similar issue with Ver 8.1.2 running over cirtix with a similar setup to Jans-Peter.
The difference is that Reader opens fine but when you try to edit preferences it crashes.
This only happens on an citrix session. If I run reader on the server directly it works OK.
However after reading above I can replicate the problem on the server by moving or deleting the ADMPlugin.apl file.
Any further ideas at all?

  • Pages 5.2 Table missing text when printed

I created a document with several tables.  These tables contain algebra formulas with superscript.  I read in another forum that the issue may be the use of the superscript.  However their problem only occurred when printing the document as a PDF.  I am having the problem printing from both Pages and as a PDF.  Some superscript appears as it should.  Not all missing text is superscript.
Any ideas?  I hate to have to recreate this document in Word.  I took me forever to create.
    Mavericks 10.9.3
    Pages 5.2

Known limitation with Pages v5.2. If you had Pages ’09 installed before the upgrade downgrade to Pages v5.2, it was moved to /Applications/iWork ’09.
You will need to export from Pages v5.2 as Pages ’09 in order to process your work in the older Pages version. You will also need to open the Pages ’09 document either through that Applications file chooser, or via the right-click, contextual menu Open with > Pages (4.3). Double-clicking with both Pages installed will default to using Pages v5.2.
LibreOffice is a free alternative to MS Word, and works better with Mavericks than does OpenOffice.

  • Not clear text when printing JTextField

I print (laser/inkjet printing) a panel with multiple JTextFields setting background of both panel and textfield to white and border to null. The problem is that the letters on paper do not apear clear but digitized. (I use Arial font). I have implemented a class to handle the print of a class of type of JPanel but not of JTextField. Is this the problem? Can you suggest a class that implements the print of JTextFIelds which are inside of a JPanel?
    Thank you in advance

Hi Dimitar, thanks for your replies. I'm using 2048M, when I do File -> Print, I can see I have 464 pages in my diagram, and I can see all boxes, relations, and text also, no problem, everything shows on the screen.
The issue comes when I either print to file or send to the printer, the text is missing in both cases, the printer here in the office has 4G of memory, there does not seem to be a problem or delay when printing, it just comes out with no text; the Mac laptop I'm using has 8G of memory. I was scaling the pages to get a smaller number of pages printed, but I followed your advice and did not scale down, left it at 100%, with same results. I'm wondering if this is something related to Mac OS X 10.6 ?
    Thanks.

  • Blocking Text When Printing

    Hi Adobe Gurus,
I have some forms that have prviously been set up within the organisation.
I now have a requirement to hide/blank out some of the text when the form is printed, as we do not want this information to be visible in hard copy format.
Is there an easy (or difficult) way to accomplish this?
    Many thanks.
    A

Then I think they should be here.
Are they using Acrobat form tool to LiveCycle Designer to create the forms?
In Acrobat one sets the form field's property for "Visible but does not print"
In LiveCycle Designer one changes the field's "Presence" to "Visible (Screen Only)".

  • Controlling the size of text when printing to PDF

In many applications you can print to Adobe PDF by selecting that as your printer.
Is there any way to control how the text size will appear when printing to PDF?  Is there any reason why a PDF created by using the print to PDF option would create different sized text on one computer as opposed to another computer?

The text size depends from the text size in the application.

  • LaserJet CM1312 MFP faded text when printing.

    Hi,
When using this CM1312 printer the text is faded in parts, mostly to the left hand side of the page but it is noticeable on the whole document when printing. It does this for all colours.
The ink toner cartridges have recently been changed and all are almost full. I have carried out all the cleaning checks and the diagnostic report check but this hasn't helped.
Any help with this problem would be great.
    many Thanks
    Leigh

    Hi Leigh,
Are you still seeing this issue?
If so, does it occur on copies as well as print jobs?
Did you see the problem on the Diagnostics Page you printed?
Also, please check the firmware update site for the CM1312 and make sure you're running the latest firmware.
Finally, it sounds like you've already tried many of these things, but this link provides some things to try to resolve print quality issues.

  • Unidentifiable text when printing PDF's

When printing PDF's from Adobe Reader XI with my HP Laserjet J410 printer I get a document filled with unreadable font which overlaps itself as shown below. I'm running Windows Server 2012 R2 and have checked the printer settings as far as I know they are all fine. I have looked for an option to restore the printer settings to there default but haven't found anything. Printing PDF's works fine with my other printer it is just this one which seemingly has an issue. Any suggestions?

Try Print as Image (Advanced button on Print panel).

  • Garbled/scrambled text with Air for Android & GPU mode

Please excuse the big image! Has anyone come across this? As you can  see the 'U' in 'Nebula' is scrambled and so are the digits below best  time.  It only happens within  the space a character would occupy. The line under 'game' is just a reflection.
I can't work out what's causing it, it's not always the same  characters that do it although the U in Nebula is always scrambled.  Sometimes digits are scrambled and sometimes the same ones are not. It  seems to occur with embedded fonts and with normal ones like Arial. I've  tried using both Classic and TLF text, and changing anti-aliasing  settings. It occurs on both dynamic and static text.
But it only happens  with GPU rendering, not CPU rendering.
I can't find any mention of this at all on Google, starting to wonder if perhaps it's just my phone? (Desire S).
    Any input is greatly appreciated!

Thanks for the fast reply! Switching to device fonts does fix the problem, but it means using some horrible default font rather than the one I want to, which I've embedded. I've tried a few more settings and Bitmap Text seems to fix it in some instances but not in others.

  • Scrambled text when sending images

This only happens with one person, but it's happened a few times. When she tries to send me images from apple mail, I get an email that looks like this:
And it goes on and on... I tried to copy and paste the text in here, but it just froze up Chrome each time.
The images she's trying to send aren't huge or anything... Just 4 photos...
Anyone know what's going on and how to avoid this?

I have seen the Yoyo thing several times before when someone tried to send me images in iChat. I dont have much of an idea what causes it though. Besides likely being network/firewall related. As sending picts involves making some sort of an extra connection between both users.
However, I often find when this happens, that sending an image in the other direction will often work fine. And once done, it then works with both users, as it should.
    Thats my experience anyway..
I also found a secondary problem with sending picts like this in iChat.. If the chat window with picts in is left unattended for a few minutes, messages sent later often stop being received at the other end, with no errors seen at either end. Sometimes this happens in both directions, and sometimes only one direction. Either way, at least one person thinks they have been ignored, as they stopped receiving messages.
Work around is to close both chat windows once finished with the picts, then open a new window/chat and carry on as normal. Still not ideal though, as you dont always know if someone is just busy, or didnt get your messages..
This never happens if no picts have been sent.
iChat in Leopard/10.5 looks to have had quite a makeover. So I hope it performs much better than the current offering. And not just for these gremlins, but the endless Error -8 issues etc etc too.

  • Jagged edges on text when printing from InDesign

When I print text from InDesign, it prints with rough edges. This happens with text created in InDesign or imported from Photoshop. I can export the same image to a PDF though and it prints perfectly from Acrobat.

Well, I'd say that you should just do your printing from Acrobat.
ID is not really all that good at printing direct to a printer, and it won't print properly at all to some common ones (mostly HP and Ricoh, but not all of either). Are you printing for proofs or final output? I strongly advise printing proofs from the same PDF files that you will be sending out, anyway, and PDFs tend to process faster in the printer than native InDesing files, so you often can shorten the time it takes to get output by exporting to PDF, even including the time it takes to export (plus, export is a background task so you can continue to work in ID, but printing direct ties up the application).

  • Small Text when printing

When I type a message in Mail in Arial 12pt regular font, it seems smaller than it should. I tested it by printing the message, and comparing it to the same font created in Word (also in Pages, FireFox, and iWeb) showed that the text from Mail is at least 2pt smaller than the other apps.
Tested with other fonts as well.
Everything works fine in other applications. Word used to have the same issue, but I deleted the font cache and restarting fixed that.
And, yes, I have restarted both Mail and the laptop (Mbp 17").
    No other apps are running.

First thing I would do is set every print job to have a preview. Go into the Windows menu, Printers folder, right click your printer icon, left click Printing Preferences, features tab, click Show preview before printing, left click Apply, finally left click Okay.
How long has this been printing small text? Did it start after updating something or installing something? If that is the case, then the change could have affected the print settings. Is it only from the web browser? Is it only from a few programs, or all programs that can print?
Printing from the internet can give mixed results. Pages can have their own encoding for printing functions, which can complicate things. I find that if I capture the portion that I want to print, and then paste it into Word (or WordPad), then it will print out much better. If there are images, several captures may be necessary to print the areas wanted properly.

  • Washed out text when printing from Acrobat Help?

When I print PDFs from Adobe Acrobat all the text is washed out. It is supposed to be black but I get gray text.
I have the print settings at rich text black.
The print settings on Acrobat are 600dpi.
It is not a printer issue as I get the same problem with 2 different printer that are different makes and models.
It is a high resolution PDF with no image compression.
The file prints fine from Indesign.
I am running Acrobat Professional 8.2.3
I am running CS 3 master suite
    any help is appreciated.
    thanks
    Trevor

IF, (and that is a big if) the pdf is create some some type of text (word open office, pages, etc)  then open PDF  in acrobat and click on Touch up text tool
(a Samll button with a capital "T" on it -without quote marks).
Click on select all. then  File menu look for Properties. click on properties
when window opens click on appearance tab.
choose color by clicking on colored block. choose black.
IF your document then your out of luck there are no fonts just a drawing of what appears to be fonts. You might use OCR on Document but then not all Characters might ocr so you would only be partially successful.

  • Why do I get "Fuzzy Text" when printing from the web?

A short time ago I was able to print text from Internet webpages and my school website. Now the text is coming out fuzzy when I try to print. I can print Word and PDF documents OK. But not PDF documents saved from the websites.

In Excel, right click and choose Format Chart Area. In the dialog at the left, choose Fonts. Change the font to Arial or something other than Calibri (Theme Body). Then copy/paste.

  • Windows XP - Missing text when printing to Xerox Docucolor

Currently printing Illustrator CS3 from a Windows XP to a CREO driver running a Xerox Ducucolor 240.
Sent a document and discovered some of the text was missing. It was a label set up 2-up on the page and the missing text occurred in the upper label, but was not missing on the lower label.
I went back to see if I had not duplicated all of the label and discovered that the document was complete.
Without changing the document, I sent it again. This time it printed correctly.
What could make the document lose some of the content?

Something likely happened during the transmission of the job to the printer. It could be a fluke but if it happens again, you should check all your connections, condition of your wires and cables, and your power protection.
Could also have been a blip with Illy and/or whatever other apps you had running at the same time; a slight conflict somewhere occurring at the exact wrong nanosecond.
    ETA:
In other cases (though not in this one), it could be a font issue. Corrupt font, duplicate font on your system or with the printer. It could also be an issue with the Illy file itself; not exactly a bad idea to copy everything and place it in a new file.

  • Why is text garbled and overlapped when I paste in Flash

Why is text garbled and overlapped when I paste in Flash from other sources. The documentations suggests you can paste and text will fill columns automatically but I just get a clump of text in a very small space.

Thanks a lot. It was the leading. It wasn't negative but it needed to be a lot higher. I really appreciate the help!!
