Reader 9.0 - runtime error when launching from pdf

Reader 9.0 does not like to launch from an associated pdf. It will occasionally open but 98% of the time it returns a Visual C++ Runtime Library error: "This application has requested the Runtime to terminate in an unusual way. Please contact the Application's support team for more information"
If you open Reader 9.0 directly and drag a pdf into it, there is no problem. Everything works the way it is supposed to. It is only an associated launch that causes the problem. No other apps are experiencing launch problems on this comuter.
System is running XP-SP3. System resources are not being taxed. Of course I have already tried uninstalling, reinstalling, rebooting.

Yup, same here, OS and all.
BUT, I can't even get Reader 9.0 directly without that error!
When will I learn to stop trusting major X.0 releases from ANY software company?
As always, I have a 8.1.2 full install saved and reverting back to it for now.
BTW, Adobe initially looks like they will let you download 8.1.2, but then they switch you back up to 9.0. Gotta watch 'em.

Javascript error when launching XFA pdf from browser

Hi all,
I am trying to use my XFA PDF from a browser. On my local system I have set up a web server and am launching my PDF from there. However, I am getting a ReferenceError with regards to one of my Javascript functions.
My PDF has dependency on a javascript file that resides in the Acrobat path as follows:
C:\Program Files\Adobe\Acrobat 9.0\Acrobat\Javascripts\
When I use my PDF directly from an Acrobat instance, everything works fine. The issue comes up only when launching from server. How do I link the javascript file to my PDF?
Edit: The user is going to be launching the PDF from the server via a web browser. In such a case where do I place the javascripts?

My JS code contains a readFileIntoStream which I learnt is also to be run under privileged context. (still learning the ropes here.. ). I have been trying to incorporate the JS code directly into the PDF to get around this privileged context.. but I am unable to find a non-privileged equivalent for readFileIntoStream..
Basically my users would be accessing the PDF from the server direct via the browser. For my testing purposes I am able to run the PDF directly from my desktop via an Acrobat instance without any hitch as the scripts are folder level like you mentioned. Is it possible for the users to be able to access the javascripts from anywhere on the server rather than directly from the PDF? Please note, users will not be saving copies of the PDF on to their local machines (in which case we could have pushed the JS file along to their machines) . I need to ultimately run the PDF from browser.

Runtime Error when launching Flash CS5 in Windows Vista 32bit

I installed Flash CS5 as a Trial and when i tried to launch it the error message appears on the screen:

I already tried to re-install Vista again and even tried to install flash in XP with the same unsucess result.

It would be great if we have the installation log files. However you can try these.
1.Check whether your system meets the minimum requirements.
2. Install the current Windows Service Pack and other updates.

Runtime Error when launching Itunes

Hi all! I've tried reparing the program and it worked once, but now it's not working anymore. When I try to open Itunes I get this error message:

I've had Itunes installed for about a year and it's been working fine and then all of a sudden it started doing this. I haven't installed any new software or anything either. Anyone have any ideas how I can fix this?

I am experiencing the same thing I have uninstalled itunes and redownloaded it but whenever I open itunes I still see the same runtime error message and have to close itunes. I hope someone can help us.

Runtime error when Upgrading from 8.81 pl05 to 8.81 pl08

Hello experts,
When upgrading 8.81 PL05 to 8.81 PL08, I encounter a runtime error concerning a Microsoft C++ Runtime Library. the text in the error box is "Runtime Error ! Program : D... R6025 -pure virtual function call. "
This error occured after the database check, the server tools and the common data base upgrades have already succeded. So at the end of the production database upgrade after each the databases have been upgraded, at the precise moment of Cost Center upgrades the upon descipted error occurs.
What could be the origin of this error ? What should I do in order to upgrades in PL08 ?

I received the same Error (Run Time Error program R-6025 pre virtual
function call.) At the moment it appears only when i make a search e.g. for the todays Outgoing Payments (around 60 registers) on the OVPM table.
But i'm affraid that could be appear more often or inside another transaction like invoices or sales order which are very important to us.

Runtime error when launching Acrobat 9 or Reader 9

Reference: KB404597
According to the information in the referenced KB article, this is a known problem with Adobe Systems. The suggested "workaround" didn't work. As it is now, I cannot open any PDF files, whether from Adobe Reader, within e-mails, or form a web page. This is causing me some problems since I frequently get reports in PDF form, and I have a need to open PDF forms within web pages.

I've been researching this problem for a while, never found a solution. Tried the workarounds I've seen, don't work, running XP pro, no acrobat. This has happened on at least 6 different computers that I've seen. Several users refuse to use adobe acrobat anymore.

Is the pernr assigned correctly?

has correct information like It0105 etc, also the rules are

Portal Runtime Error when communicating from JSPDynPage to JSP Using Bean

I am pursuing this problem for quite sometime now. Even opened a high priority message with SAP. We are using a bean to communicate value between a JSPDynPage and a JSP. When trying to access the bean in the doProcessAfterInput of the JSPDynpage, sometimesi get a nullpointer exception ..as if the bean was released ..
I have tried ComponentProfile, ComponentSession... but in vain. If i try to use HTTPSession, the initialization of the bean in the JSP fails since its scope is applicationIt also fails if i try and reduce the scope of the bean.
Pls advice. I can post the code on request.

Error when launching promoted app from RemoteAPP

We are receiving this error when launching any application from RemoteAPP, we tried promoting Calculator, Notepad, etc. and received the same error as well.

If you launch the app directly from the session hosts using the same account that your using with remoteapp what are you getting? Try and RDP to the session host when you attempt it. I would also check rsop.msc to see if you have any GPO or scripts that
are manipulating themes.

When will Reader 9's Runtime error for redirected Application Data be fixed??

Has anyone heard when Adobe will fix Reader 9's Runtime error for redirected Application Data?? It's still happening with 9.1.3 for only users who have their Application Data folder redirected via Group Policy.

I haven't read through all of the posts, but the general consensus I have is that the issue is in fact related to the redir
ection of the Application Data folder. The main issue being that the use of a UNC path causes the error described, with some mention to explicit user permissions on the root of the folder path.
I was just recently made aware of this issue in our environment. Apparently we've held off upgrading to Adobe 9.x because of this issue. After a little research, it was apparent that simply modifying the default Folder Redirection policies is not possible because the use of a mapped drive is not supported.
I haven't had a chance to test this yet, and may not be able to for some time, so I thought I would share this in case someone else might be able to test. The idea being to simply use a custom ADM file to force the redirection of certain profile folders. Again, I haven't tested this using a mapped drive in the path, but I have successfully used the same settings below to redirect other folders not available by default in Group Policy.
1) Copy the text between ----- Start of ADM ------ and ----- End of ADM ------ and paste it into a text file.
2) Rename the .txt to .adm.
3) Load the ADM template into a GPO.
4) Right click "USER Custom Settings", select "View", select "Filtering" and uncheck the option "Only show policy settings that can be fully managed".
5) Configure the "Redirect Application Data" option as enabled, and enter a mapped drive path.
6) Test.
I'm interested to hear if this is a viable solution or not.

Runtime Error when starting Lightroom

I'm currently on day 12 or so of my trial with Lightroom. I've spent quite a few hours getting to know LR by retouching and cataloging over 8 years of photos. So far, aside from a few in-program bugs that I found a way to work around, I've been super-happy with it (especially the powerful keywording/metatagging system: amazing!) and have been really seriously coughing up the huge wad of $$ when the trial's done. But....
For no reason, LR started giving me a Runtime Error when I tried to start it. Something along the lines of "This application requested Runtime to terminate it unusually."
So off to Google I went, where I knew I could probably search that error and fix it like I've done with countless other programs. Unfortunately nothing is working.
Here are the facts:
--I'm running a fully patched Vista machine.
--LR worked fine earlier this morning. I had 1.4 and didn't perform any upgrades or maintenance to it (that I know of) when it just gave me the error out of the blue today when I tried to start it.
--I tried holding CTRL when I start it, and it still gives the error.
--I tried deleting a .lock file (which did exist) but it still wouldn't start.
--I tried running the "repair" tool in the install...no good.
--I uninstalled LR, d/led it again, and re-installed it. IT WORKED!....one time. I was able to run it, checked to make sure my cataloging was still intact (it was - phew!) and even deleted a folder I didn't want in it. Then I closed it. I tried re-opening it a few hours later and I got the SAME ERROR!
I sure hope someone can help because I'm at my wit's end.

The short of the story: if I put lightroom.exe into Windows XP compatibility mode" it will work. (To do that, for anyone else who comes across this, you just right-click your lightroom icon, click PROPERTIES, and go to the Compatibility tab and check the box next to "Run this program in compatibility mode for:" and select "Windows XP (Service Pack 2)")
I've loaded it up half a dozen times and it's still working perfectly as far as I can tell. Hopefully it won't hurt anything keeping it in that mode.
I'm glad this happened early enough into my trial that I'll have ample opportunity to see if it repeats itself. I'm not keen on sinking $300 into software that will give me ulcers as I troubleshoot problems like this.

getting portal runtime error when trying to create a new iView in portal. I am unable to create a single iView in portal.
It was working before please see this error message

AM Iworking on NW2004s sp11. I was able to create iViews on this system before
let me know where to check the log file also. Points will be awarded

logs can be read from nwa, if you hv the relevant access or get portal admin to pass the defaulttrace file to you. Login to nwa, navigate to Monitoring-Logs and traces and select (either default trace or last 24hrs) to view the logs. hope this helps
