Reader 9.1 won't print Sticky Notes/Comments

I had recently updated my organization to version 9.1 of Adobe Acrobat Reader from 7. I had to perform the reg hack on 7 to be able to let my users print the Sticky notes, but that does not work in 9 and I don't see a setting. How do I get around this? We can view the notes just fine, via screen, but who would have thought, we actually need to print these comments on our proofs from our customers.
Anyway, hope someone has an answer so we can continue on 9 and don't have to roll back.
Thanks.

I'm still getting emails relating to this issue, so I thought I would post an update here...
I've now created a tool for Reader that allows you to print the contents of sticky notes as a part of the original document, without needing the expensive File Attachment right. All you need are the standard Commenting rights, which can be added in Acrobat.

  • Printing Sticky notes content

How do I get my sticky notes content to print? I am already using the "SUmmarize COntent button. I have Windows 7 and a Lexmark Pro200 Series printer.  I am using  Adobe Reader 11.0.02. To clarify: they print on the page but overlapping each other and obscuring the text. OR they print as a separate page.  Are these the options, or am I doing something wrong? Am I limited to one sticky per page? If so, where should I place it?

So the only way to print sticky notes in 9.0 is a manual registry change below.
For Reader 8 and later you may need to add the key manually.
    Add the following Reg key:
    [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Adobe\Acrobat Reader\[acrobat version]\Annots\cPrefs]
    "bprintCommentPopups"=dword:00000001
Which I did and it worked but where is the preference check under commenting for sticky notes in versin 9.0?
If it was just my computer not having the category, commenting I would think it was a bad install but none of the computers in our office have that choice either. I hate to think I have to make a registry changes on each computer to print Sticky notes.
I do appreciate the registry work around though!

  • Problem Printing Sticky Notes

Although the entire comment in the sticky note is visible on the computer screen, only part of the comment appears on the printed page.

In the PDF, for the Sticky Note, do you have to use the Pop-up's scroll bar to view the text? If so, that may be why what is printed to paper does not have all the text.
I find it 'cleaner' to just make a Comment report to PDF. Then print to hardcopy when needed.
If annotations other than Sticky Note are present but not desired filtering of the comments (via the Comments list/pane) can hide these prior to making the comments report.
    Be well...

  • Disappearing Sticky Note Comments in Acrobat 9 PDF Reviews

I'm using Acrobat 9 Pro (version 9.3.2) and the reviewers are using Reader 9, and all of us are on Windows XP SP3. I'm distributing PDFs for online review using a SharePoint site (SharePoint Server 2007).
We've observed the following behaviour if you Show Comments List and enter comments for a sticky note using the comment field in this list:
If your cursor is still in the comment field when you publish, you'll get a message saying that a new comment was published, but the contents of the sticky note are missing from the other reviewers' views. They can accept the new comment and the metadata for the sticky note will appear, but the comment will be missing.
If you publish again, you'll get a message saying that a comment was updated, and then the other reviewers will see the contents of the sticky note.
If you enter comments in another sticky note (and leave the cursor in the comment field) before you publish for the 2nd time, you get a message saying 1 comment has been updated and 3 new comments have been added when you hit Publish. Why 3 new instead of 1?
If your cursor is in the comment field, and you haven't published yet, and you do any other activity (such as sorting, filtering, collapsing the discussion), then whatever you had typed in the comment field disappears.
This same behaviour has been observed for replies to sticky notes.
Comments do not go missing if you type in the sticky note pop-up, or reply in the pop-up.
The obvious workarounds are to enter sticky notes in the pop-ups instead of the Comments List, or click elsewhere on the List before doing anything else, or hit Publish twice. However, I don't think we should have to work around this. So, before I ask Adobe to fix this behaviour, has anyone else seen it? Or is there something about how to use the interface that I'm missing?

  • Sticky notes/comments

I'm having no luck trying to add comments/sticky notes to a large pdf file in a trial version of Acrobat 9.3. I'm assured I have document rights enabled. I can't access the Navigation toolbar. I can't access the sticky note cursor. My email is [email address deleted by host]   Thank you. Adrian

    Yes,
Adobe Reader does not provided comment & mark up functionality by itself.
    It is simply a "viewer".
If a PDF is "enabled" or "extended" with Acrobat Professional (8 or 9) then Adobe Reader can permit a user to make comments.

  • Deleting sticky notes / comments

    Hi!
I am having trouble deleting sticky notes. have tried to by delete, unlock, etc. (all the obvious/usual solutions)
    Thanks!

Can you select them? Do you see them in the Comments List? Is the file secured or digitally signed?

  • Reader PDFs won't print; "pages not selected"

PDFs on Reader will not print.  I get a message "Pages not selected" but there is no way to select them.

Met with IT. tried to install a native driver (as opposed to a generic postscript).  Same problem.  There's a solution that sits outside of Acrobat... Mac OS X "Prevew", prints the doc flawlessly.  I'm not sure what else to do. I've even tried some advanced settings to print as image, where it takes a long time to flatten each page, then print.. no pages will print. I'm inclined to say it's a memory issue between the Mac and this printer, but perplexed because there is no issue with "Preview"...

  • Reader 9.2 won't print PDF Files (data execution prevention)

I just downloaded updates to reader 9.2 and now pdf files will not print. message of data execution prevention stops the printing process. Help me mister wizard!!!!!

Seems an awful lot of us are having the same problem. When I updated toV9.2 I got the DEP error. Never had a problem with V9.1.3 Try uninstalling 9.2 and installing V9.1.3. If that doesn't work try what some other users have done go back to V8.1.3. I wonder when the Adobe people are going to attend to this problem?

  • HP3015dn and Reader 10: PDF won't print

I installed an HP3015dn.  It prints MSWord documents in simplex and automatically in duplex.  It will not print PDF files.
    System:  Windows 7, 32-bit.
Driver: P3010 Series PCL 6.  The HP Universal PS driver also works for Word documents.
I upgraded Adobe from Reader 9.4 (?) to Reader X (10.0.1).  No improvement.
Fix attempted:  Adobe > File > Print > Advanced > Print as Image selected.  No improvement.
Advice sincerely welcome.  I have a wonderful new duplex printer yet can't print simple PDF's.  Kinda miss my old HP1100.  :-o
    Thank you.

Wow.  I didn't realize the Adobe failure to print was so widespread.  A few other posts made it clear that many others are having the same problem.
I installed foxit reader but was still unable to print.
This is a global problem which really calls for a fix.
I'll keep searching for an answer, but I welcome any help you can give.
    Thanks.
BTW - - my printer is USB-connected; no network.

  • When I try to printe a photo from my Pictures library it says printer won't print, is not connected Etc. Yet if I ask it to print a document it does fine. What is the problem?

I have a number of photos in my picture library. The printer is a Dell V510 series and was purchased last June with a new computer. It tells me to connect USB, it is and several other things which are all connected. In my picture library are some printed documents. When I ask it to print them it does. Also when I received a picture by email or download my camera I never know where it is going to put the picture. I never had a problem with my Windows XP however Windows 7 doesn't seem to do what I want it to. The instructions that came with it are almost useless. I am not a technical person, but neither am I new to the computer. Thanks

Yes, as long as it is words, but when I want to do a picture it refuses. The pictures library is part of Window 7. The help program just said to be sure it was connected, power was on to it, unplug and replug, then restart my computer. I did all that. I prints photos that are in other programs. When I first started with 7 I didn't understand how it worked and some pictures were posted in documents. Those pictures print. Windows 7 seems to put the pictures where ever it wants them. I have Picasso on my computer and it doesn't pick up any of the pictures in the pictures library. So I still can't get Firefox to print pictures.
    Thanks for the reply. Iva

  • Reader 9.0 - sticky notes

How do you print sticky notes. I found in knowledge base to set comment preferences but I cannot find preferences -> comments -> Print Notes And Pop-ups.

Try file>Print>Comments and forms>Document and markups.

  • Acrobat Reader won't print

I installed OS 10.6 and now 10.6.1. Acrobat Reader 8 wouldn't print. Installed Acrobat Reader 9. Won't print. Canon MP530 printer gives this error message: "Unable to open raster stream. No such file or directory." No problem previously, with 10.5 and Acrobat Reader 8.

Solved my own problem; read the solution here:

Hope it works for all of you with different printers. The issue seems to be in the printer drivers, though.

  • Sticky Note (Text annotation)

    Hello,
I decided to add some sticky notes (text annotation) in my pdf document and I was surprised to see that the sticky notes were not printed. I used the "Document and Markups" option for the print and even in the print preview the Sticky Notes were not present.
Regarding the PDF Reference a sticky note is a Markup so it has to be printed.
Is it a bug? A normal behavior?
While I select the "Print notes and pop-ups" option in the Preferences - Commenting then the Sticky is printed (but also all notes and pop-ups

The Preferences > Commenting > Print notes and popups option takes priority when printing sticky notes - if it's deselected, they don't print at all. If it's selected, sticky notes will print in whatever state they're in (collapsed or open) provided they don't have a non-print attribute set against them.
Most people don't want stickies to print, as by their nature they are either collapsed (hence meaningless on paper) or will obscure some other part of the page. Text markups, stamps etc. can be printed without such issues, hence the above preference defaults to off.

  • Adobe Acrobat Pro 9.4.6 Sticky Note Icons are huge and can not resize

My coworker is having a problem with the size of the Sticky Note (comments) Icon.  It is huge and we can not resize.
When you open the icon, it takes up the whole page.  We can change the Font size, but the actual icon will not resize.
The same document opened up from someone else, the icon views normal. We all have Adobe Acrobat Pro V9.4.6.  Any suggestions on a fix?
    Thank You.

    JimJSC,
Your reply also helped fix a problem I had with not being able to resize sticky notes. My original display resolution meant that the resize symbols in the lower corners of the sticky note weren't accessible. In Acrobat X, the setting is under Acrobat, Preferences, Page Display, Resolution.

  • PDF's sticky notes batch sync

    Hello!
Is there any way to syncronize sticky notes (comments) betwen two copies of the same pdf file?
I know, it is possible to do it using 'expot/import comments' function, but i need to do it in batch mode, i.e. i have 100 pairs of pdfs and i want to join comments in each pair to one file.
I think it is posible to do it programically with some Acrobat API manupalation...
    Have you any suggestions?
    Thanks in advance, Ben

So, you think I have to post this question at Adobe Acrobat forum?
