Reader 9.3 problem

I too have been unable to load adobe reader.   Adobe reader 9 worked fine.  I followed recommendations and installed 9.3 upgrade.  Now the program will not load and I cannot open any documents.  Error message says encountered a problem and need to close.  I removed adobe reader from my computer and reinstalled it and got the same response.  I hope someone can help us.  wepnmp

Sounds like you have some other issues yes.
If you get everything else fixed and still have issues with installing Reader, you can download the installer cleanup utility at http://www.softpedia.com/get/Security/Secure-cleaning/Windows-Installer-CleanUp-Utility.sh tml

    Hi guidolal,
    Are you facing the issue with any pdf's on the Mac.
    Have you tried downloading a sample pdf like any Adobe help file from the website and then check if you are able to launch it fine via Reader?
    Regards,
    Rave

  • Reader X scaling problems

    Ever since installing Reader X, I am having problems printing out portrait PDF's. They are changed to Landscape and only use 1/2 the sheet of paper. They look as if I could get 2 actual layouts on 1 sheet of paper. It worked fine using Reader 9 before the update. I have looked at all preferences and haven't found one to make a difference. Any help would be appreciated. I am using Win 7 on this PC. Thanks

    I went to the pull-down menu, selected "Print" and then at the bottom of the print window, there were 4 buttons (in addition to "OK" and "Cancel"):  "Print Tips" "Page Setup" "Advanced" and "Summarize Comments."  Under "Advanced" there is a "Print as Image" box near the bottom of the new "Advanced Print Setup" window that opens.  Once you check the  "Print as Image" box, you should be ok for any Adobe documents you open in the future.

    I've encountered the same problem but it seemed to start after my latest WIndows upgrade.  (I have Vista - what Window program are you running?)
    I have not been able to find your "print as image" solution so I'm still stuck at the moment.   How did you find the "print as image" choice?

  • Read only filesystem problem

    Hi,
    I have a strange problem. After some time of running archlinux the root filesystem suddenly becomes read-only. It happened 3 times yet. I'm using LVM and the root volume is /dev/mapper/VG0-archlinux2 and filesystem type is reiserfs.
    If i tried to remount it read-write using command
    mount -o remount,rw /
    i got this:
    sudo: unable to open /var/db/sudo/uiii/3: Read-only file system
    mount: /dev/mapper/VG0-archlinux2: can't read superblock
    Only reboot helps.

  • Reading into ArrayList problem - what is wrong?

    Hi, I am trying to read a list of strings into an ArrayList and am having some problems. I have created a main() which at the moment does nothing, its just to make sure that the array's content is genuine (meaning consistent with the string in the text file) so I am having it simply printed out to screen. The error I am getting is "cannot resolve symbol, variable array" by my compiler (Jcreator). I will paste the code below:
    import java.io.*;
    import java.util.*;
    public class hostList{
    public hostList()
    try
    File input = new File("hosts.txt");
    BufferedReader in=new BufferedReader(
         new InputStreamReader(new FileInputStream(input)));
         ArrayList list=new ArrayList();
         String line;
         while((line=in.readLine())!=null)
              list.add(line);
         String[] array=new String[list.size()];
         list.toArray(array);
         in.close();
    catch(FileNotFoundException e)
    System.err.println("File not found...");
    catch(IOException e)
    System.err.println("IO Problem");
    }//hostLst()
         public static void main (String [] args){
              System.out.println("Array content:");
              System.out.println("array " + array[0]);
              for (int i=0; array[i] !=null; i++)
                   System.out.println(array);
         }//main
    }//class
    Also, how would I use the array objects in another class, say class B. How can I access the arrays in class B so that i can use its methods? eg. array[i].doSomething(); where doSomething() is a method in class B. What libraries would i need to import (if any) ?
    Help is appreciated, thanks.

    this code wont compile bcas in main method u r not creating the object of this class also the var array is not globally declared hence wont be accesibile outside
    u can try this modified code
    import java.io.*;
    import java.util.*;
    public class hostList{
    String[] array=null;
    public hostList()
    try
    File input = new File("hosts.txt");
    BufferedReader in=new BufferedReader(
    new InputStreamReader(new FileInputStream(input)));
    ArrayList list=new ArrayList();
    String line;
    while((line=in.readLine())!=null)
    list.add(line);
    array=new String[list.size()];
    list.toArray(array);
    in.close();
    catch(FileNotFoundException e)
    System.err.println("File not found...");
    catch(IOException e)
    System.err.println("IO Problem");
    }//hostLst()
    public static void main (String [] args){
    hostList h=new hostList();
    System.out.println("Array content:");
    System.out.println("array " + h.array[0]);
    }//main
    }//class

  • VISA Read over USB Problem: After a while the xBFFF0015 Timeout Error occurred

    Hi,
    I have trouble using labview with my non-NI USB device:
    The device is an analog input DAQ board. I was able to setup communication with the board using a VISA driver specifically created for this board and direct FW calls using the product's firmware specification provided by the manufacturer.
    This method has been working pretty good so far, but when I try to get large amount of data (64k samples @100ksps), the VISA Read returns the 'VISA: (Hex 0xBFFF0015) Timeout expired before operation completed.' error.
    Please see the attached screenshot of the block diagram for details.
    First, an 'analog input scan start' command is sent to the DAQ device, and then the vi tries to read all collected data from the device, once the right amount of data retrieved, or no more data is available the data collecting process (the while loop) ends and an 'analog input scan stop' command is sent to the DAQ device.
    The data collection starts with no problem, but after a while, in loop# 400, the VISA Read hangs and then returns the error mentioned above.
    I tried to increase the time out value, but it didn't help, the error occurred after the same number of loops, the VISA Read got hosed and the error occurred after the longer timeout expired.
    I also tried to add some delays in the loop, but it didn't help either.
    I am not sure what do I miss here and I would highly appreciate if anyone could give me some guidance how to solve this issue.
    Thanks,
    John

    I just wanted to specify that this is not an NI board avoiding to make people think this is a hardware issue. And I think that the rest of the code is irrelevant in this case.
    I believe that I don't use the VISA functions correctly. I assumed that someone who used these functions before would be able to point out the obvious steps missing in the data collecting process using the VISA functions.

  • Correcting 'Read only' file problem ...

    I while ago I had an HD problem. I installed a new HD, upgraded to Leopard and then brought all my old files in from an external backup.
    My problem is that they're all now 'Read only'. Is there a way I can solve this problem at a stroke, without having to convert individual files to 'read & write'. Doing that is starting to drive me mad ...
    Thanks!

    Hey there,
    One solution is to repair disk permissions, which can be done through Disk Utility. The article below provides step-by-step instructions for using this feature to repair permissions. It is a better idea to use Disk Utility from your Mac Installation disc for this procedure. More on using disk utility can be found in the Apple document below. Hope this helps.

  • Read only / save problem when multiple user accessing PDF

    When accessing a PDF-file from a network location (where multiple users might have the file open simultaneously) I have noticed a problem.
    First of all you will not get notified when opening the file that it is open elsewhere, there is no "read only" mode in this case.
    Secondly (and worse) is the fact that the person having opened the file first is prompted to save it under a new name when she/he is saving changes since "file is open elsewhere".
    This works quite the opposite of what most Windows applications do.
    Is it a problem in version 7 and 8 of Acrobat only?
    I have heard from the support previously that it might be unsupported functionality to use network drives for editing. Is that true?
    If you are doing updates after a review but want to share the outcomes of the review this quite annoying...

    I agree, and I have seen the same points as well, but...
    During the update process after the review many reviewers are looking at their comments and how they were handled during the review meeting and at the same time the authors (yes, for documents such as a requirement specification there will be more than one author) are doing the updates to the original document.
    We are also updating the PDF with the changes made by adding new replies to the comments and also changing the status of the comments once more.
    The logical approach when opening a file is not to display a text box, but to add the information in the title bar of the program. That way you do not add an extra step to the people who only want "read only" access.

  • Adobe Reader X creates problems w/coldfusion pdf forms

    Ever since I upgraded to Adobe Reader X, I can not open any of my odf forms on my webapp.  these forms were designed with Acrobat Pro 8.0 and are prepopulated by coldfusion server.  When I browse to one since upgrade, I get the following message:
    To view the full contents of this document, you need a later version of the PDF viewer. You can upgrade
    to the latest version of Adobe Reader from www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2.html
    Obviously, I have the latest version and Acrobat 8 and Acrobat 9 readers both worked.  Is there an easy work around or a way to get rid of Acrobat X and go back?

    Could you please try turning off reader X protected mode and check if you continue to see the problem?
    You could turn off protected mode using following steps:
    1. Launch Reader X and select Edit->Preferences...
    2. Select General from left navigation
    3. Under application startup uncheck "Enable Protected Mode at Startup"
    Note: You should switch "ON" protected mode after verifying the problem. Purpose of Reader X Protected Mode is to keep your system safe from PDF based exploits and keeping protected mode OFF will leave your system vulnerable.

  • Adobe Reader is causing problems in Windows 7

    Good morning all,
    I have been doing some digging on this one and have had no joy so far. We are deploying Windows 7 in our office and I have one user, and only one who is having problems.
    They had Adobe Reader X installed and they began to have problems with it after they were upgraded to WIN 7. When they went to print a PDF it started to lock their PC for 3-5 minutes after which they were able to continue with their work.
    This behavior is internmittent in that it does not happen with every PDF and typically only happens once a day. Some times  it is the first PDF of the day, sometimes in the middle of the day, but once it happens it does not happen again in the same day. Sometimes the user does not experience the problem for several days. We have been unsuccessful in determining any pattern or any particular in which this users machine is environmentally different from any other users machine.
    No other users are experiencing this problem.
    The user has a laptop and shuts it down to take home each night and starts the box fresh in the office each day.
    Lately this behavior has extended to when the user just opens a PDF. Their laptop will freeze for 3-5 minutes and then they can continue with their work.
    Based upon a very few articles we have found on the subject, we have tried a couple of things without success:
    We have tried clearing the Adobe Reader cache
    We have uninstalled Reader X and replaced it with Reader 9x
    We are hoping that someone out there who has seen something like this before and can suggest some environmental or proceedural thing that we have missed. This one is driving us crazy.
    Thanks in advance for any help.
    Steve

  • Reader Extension rights problem in Adobe Reader 9.x

    Hi Experts,
    I was working on ADLC 8.2.3 version shipped by SAP.
    I am using reader 9.X
    My Development have one data source being used by 2 different dynamic forms where forms content enable and disable dynamically based on user inputs.
    Every time I save the form with data changes it saves as a new version. no problem with this.
    When I create for the 1st time v 0001 is created.
    now I open 0001 edit and save V 0002 is created.
    Again when I open V0002 to edit the following message is displayed.
    "This document contained certain rights to enable special features in Adobe Reader. The document has been changed since it was created and these rights are no longer valid. Please contact the author for the original version of this document."
    This is been happening very recently and only with form 2,  form 1 works fine.
    Also when I searched this error i found that it was bug in reader 8.1.. and a patch is relased on top of it, but i am using 9.X.
    Couple of Adobe fourms says this happens if the ADS server and the client with adobe reader are in different timestamp and zones this causes the problem, but i check with our basis both are in same location and time stamps.
    Can somebody help me what was the reason behind.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Sai Krishna.

    Hi Chinta,
    This the development in CRM 7.0 using webrequest which uses ZCI layout.
    Towards this web request I have form 1 and form 2 which are basically request category views of Adobe form layout.
    In CRM UI we have a button on click of it, form1 is poped up in a window with edit mode and in version 0001.
    in init method of the badi impl we fetch data for application object and set values to the webrequest fields.
    Based on these fields value form enable and disable subforms on form ready event.
    User fills in the form he then either saves it as draft or final submit (for this I have a flag field based on this value I make the entire form sections as protected). in either of the events form1 is saved with this version 0001.
    Now user will have dropdowns with versions and form names.
    Here he can see only one version 0001 in version Dropdown and 2 different forms in view dropdowns.
    He selects the version 0001 and form2.
    click on edit, the form2 is opened in edit mode, some of the fields data come from form1 and init methods, these values again make the form content visibility dynamically. Also we have couple of dynamic rods added etc as we do normally in adobe forms.
    again he saves it draft or final submit (again here based on a flag value we make the form content protected), so here say he saves it as draft. Now this is saved as version 0002.
    Note: version is on web request structure so for every change to the data it will create a new version and every version is linked to these defined forms.
    So now in CRm UI user can see 2 versions and 2 forms for each version.
    User selects version 0002 & form2 and clicks on edit.
    Screen refreshes and should open the form2 in edit mode to continue, but here i get a popup message as detailed in this theread early post.
    I tried to put the explanation as detailed as possible,
    Please let me know if you need more info.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Sai
