Reader 9 PDF printing problem with Canon printers

If you get no job output but only a blinking LED on various Canon network printers this might help:
1. Open Acrobat or Adobe Reader.
2. Choose File > Print.
3. Click the Advanced button.
4. Check "let printer determine colors"
Additionally you might need to set the "Font and Resource Policy" dropdown to "Send for Each Page" as described in http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?externalId=kb408015&sliceId=1
Good luck!

Abhigyan,
The Java Script hasn't changed in 2 years. It was developed by an Adobe Partner. Adobe Reader and Acrobat have changed.
I'll try to step through the script but haven't had much luck in past.
Here are the lines that Reader likely is throwing the error:
oDoc.print(pp);
if ( bCloseNoSave )  oDoc.closeDoc({bNoSave:true});
As I stated, it works in previous versions of Reader (9.0 through version 9.3.2). The issue began when Adobe released version 9.3.3.

I'm having an issue with our Canon Color Imagerunner C3220.
When I send a PDF from Acrobat Professional 7.0 from a Mac to the
Canon I get a rule that overprints an image. The image should be
knocking out the rule. When I print from a Windows machine it
prints fine. The PDF also looks fine on screen. Our printer was
just upgraded to a C2 rip which I believe may be the culprit but am
not sure. Canon did some troubleshooting and says the problem lies
with the way the Mac interprets the PDF output going to the Canon.
These PDFs were made from InDesign CS2 and Distiller 7.0. Other
then sending from a Windows machine, does anyone have an idea for a

I am seeing the same magenta cast (primarily in areas of yellow tones) when printing to an ip4000 on Photo Paper Glossy II using any of the Canon profiles (I've tried them all, one by one).

  • PDF Print Problems with OS 10.6.7

Since installing the most recent OS update 10.6.7 on my Macbook, I have been having trouble printing PDF documents on two printers--a Brother HL-5370 DW and an HP PSC 1600. Black vertical lines print across the page. On another Mac with OS 10.5, PDFs still print fine. In all cases, print preview shows normal print output.

10.7.7 is causing problems with pdf and printing - please see http://db.tidbits.com/article/12078 for a better explanation. I have the same and can't print to either of our Canon office printers or print to pdfs any longer - but can you contact Apple to advise them they have a problem ... no!

  • Printing problems with Canon Pixma IP4700

I used to use a PC, photoshop and my Canon pixma IP4700. With this i could achieve perfect results on an A4 image. I have embedded the correct paper profile and my colour management system was set up just right. I have now upgraded to a mac(running Snow Leopard OS) , but i am now getting problems with my prints. I opened up the exact same .psd file without changing anything and sent it off to print on my canon. The result has came out far too bright?. When i used my PC I would have a lot more controls within my printer driver screen, but now with the mac the printer driver screen dosnt have very many controls at all. Even when i soft proof the print on the print screen it dose not show it any ware near as bright as the end result print.
I am a student of photography and i have asked a few of my class mates and they say that they have had the same problem. They tend to use a professional printers, but as i had received such perfect prints before I know this result is obtainable.
Is there anything anyone can suggest to help??
If there is any more information i can provide to help just let me know.
    Thanks a lot in advance

    Hi there,
In reading your post I'd be curious to see the cups error log. Given that the Gutenprint drivers would not print also, I would say that something is wrong with the core printing system. The log would show which filter is causing the spooler to stop.
Thinking that it is CUPS related, I would try resetting printing system (if you haven't done so already). Then I would add the queue again using the Gutenprint driver for starters. If this doesn't work then no need to try the Canon driver.
Note that the Canon test print is not an actual print but an instruction to output the inbuilt data. But the test print via the Gutenprint printer queue is a page generated by CUPS. So this would suggest that the CUPS usb backend is okay and something further up the spool creation process is failing. Again, the cups error log would give some clues as to what is going wrong. As to why both driver sets are failing is interesting...

  • PDF Printing Problem with HP UPD Printer

    Hi,
in our Company we use the HP UPD Driver PCL5 in Version 5.9.0.18326. The Printermodells are HP LaserJet Pro 400 M401, HP LaserJet Pro 400 Color M451, HP LaserJet Enterprise Flow M830z, HP LaserJet Enterprise 500 MFP M525dn, HP LaserJet Enterprise M630dn, HP LaserJet Enterprise Flow M680z and HP LaserJet Enterprise Flow M880z with newest Firmware.
If a PDF file is printed using Adobe Reader, it takes a long time until the file is printed on the printer. Partially individual pages are printed in one-minute intervals. But if I use another PDF viewer such as Foxit Reader, PDF documents can be printed at normal speed.
Other documents, such as Word or Excel files are printed normally. Only PDF documents that are printed with Acrobat Reader or Adobe Acrobat are affected. We use the Acrobat Reader version 11.0.10. With version 11.0.6, the problem also occurs.
Sometimes it also happens that the PDF document fills up the memory of the printer when it was printed with Adobe Reader. With Foxit Reader this does not happen with the same document.
Does anyone know this problem and knows what to do?

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
    Select
    /var/log ▹ cups ▹ error_log
from the hierarchical list on the left side of the Console window. If you don't see that list, select
    View ▹ Show Log List
from the menu bar. Then select the messages from the time of the last failed printing attempt. Copy them to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Paste into a reply to this message (command-V).
If there are runs of repeated messages, post only one example of each. Don’t post many repetitions of the same message.
When posting a log extract, be selective. In most cases, a few dozen lines are more than enough.
Please do not indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.

  • Printing problem with Canon LBP3370

I'm having an issue relating to the Canon LBP3370.
I also notice that Canon Europe seem to have removed all trace of any MacOSX drivers from the support page for this printer.
    I have an 'early' MBP running 10.6.6 w/ Suitcase3, QXP8.5 and CS5.
Just bought a MacMini updated to 10.6.7. Same software. Same files. Same fonts.
I have one file which gets printed weekly from a template in QXP. It prints fine on the MBP on a Canon LBP3370 using the last 'auto updated' driver. Not sure how to check the version number of the driver, but it works. I looked in 'About this Mac' and looked up the printer, and it says driver version is 2.0 - then again, it says the same for the version on the MacMini, which was installed today using an installer marked 2.24.
On the MacMini, the same file, on the same software yields an output error to the printer and requests the printer be switched to 'raster' mode in 'Quality' settings in order to print, which I understand yields diminished quality on more complex files.
I experimented with the file, removing elements and isolating them in another document to test if they print OK on the MacMini. 99% of all the page elements print just fine including a complex EPS without switching to 'raster' mode. All except for... wait for it... a SINGLE weight of the Adobe Helvetica Neue LT Std OpenType font. The document has about seven separate weights of the same font in use, and it is only one of them that triggers this problem.
I've scanned the font completely for errors and corruption and it gets a clean bill of health. The exact same font, on the MBP, using the same software and the same printer, but used on 10.6.6 prints perfectly without having to switch to raster mode.
    Bizarre.
What actually is the difference between UFR and Raster modes anyway? How do I fix this? It seems more likely to be a 10.6.7 issue than a Canon driver issue specifically... I notice the webs full of people commenting on 10.6.7 causing problems with OpenType fonts.
    Any ideas?

    sig
Not really, thanks anyway. I'm already on a later driver than that.
    PAHU
Thanks for the input. I'm still somewhat confused by the aparrent existence of two different problems - first the sheer number of complaints that 10.6.7 in itself has broken a good deal of OpenType font functionality, particularly in the PostScript flavour, and second that users have been having similar specific problems with this exact printer which appears to be a result of a driver in need of fixing.
I'm not sure which option to place my bet on, or whether indeed the two are, in fact, connected and the development of the 2.24 and later drivers are in essence 'fixes' for the 'breakage' introduced by 10.6.7 in general.
The part that confuses me most is that it is a single weight out of five weights of the same font used in the same document which causes the problem. Part of me says that the solution is to just abandon that specific weight, but then another part of me says that I'm managing some three thousand faces on this system, any of which could need to be used, and I cannot test all of them to disable or deactivate the weights (or families) which might cause issues.
Can you point me in the direction of a clean, pure source of 2.24 for UK English, which I cannot find on the Canon Europe website at all (certainly on the UK site, all Mac drivers for this model appear to have been discontinued and removed from the site, even though the vestigial tech notes for the printer still on display on the product page state that MacOSX is supported). I'm prepared to try a reinstall from a fresh source to see if it shifts the problem. Otherwise, as you say, it would appear that another 'bug' has been found which the attempted fix has not cleared.

  • Photoshop CS 4 Print problem with Canon copiers via IP

Try to print from Photoshop CS 4 to two Canon color copiers and we get this error message, "Before you can perform printer-related tasks such as page setup or printing a document, you need to install a printer"
    Fifteen Macs:
Mac Pro towers, MacBook Pro, PowerMac G5 towers, iMac Intel, PowerBook G4. Many of each.
Mac OS 10.5.7 or .8  and one Mac with 10.4.11 just to eliminate the 10.5 question.
Canon Color Copier iPR Server, Canon Color Copier iR C3220, HP LaserJet 5000, HP LaserJet Color 5550 and ColorBurst RIP to an Epson Stylus Pro 9800.
Adobe CS3 Design Standard & Premium, Office 2004, Safari, Firefox Entourage and Filemaker Pro 9.
All the above Macs and applications can print to all printers with no issues.
Installed Adobe CS4 Standard & Premium on the Mac Pro towers, MacBook Pro, PowerMac G5 towers.
Photoshop CS4 will not print to the two Canon copiers. It will print to the other printers. Photoshop CS3 on these same Macs WILL print to the Canon copiers. All the other apps will print to the Canon copiers.
Adobe has a tech note on this, ID KB409119 did not help.
Deleted all prefs, created new users, deleted and reinstalled Adobe CS4, deleted all printers, downloaded latest drivers and installed printers fresh.
None of this worked. Not to mention this problem is different from that tech note because Photoshop CS 4 will print just fine to the other HP printers.
Tried setting up the one Canon Color Copier iPR Server using Appletalk. That worked.
Why is there a problem with Photoshop CS4 and Canon IP printers?
Just to recap for you all that just skim thru this:
All Macs did this at once. So no fluke corrupt file, plus all the other apps print just fine to these printers. Adobe has problems with CS4.

Try running a reset printing system. Open System Preferences > Print & Fax. Then hold down the Control key and click your mouse in the Printers list. A menu showing Reset printing system should appear. Click this.
Now restart your Mac and then add the Canon driver again. Hopefully this gets things working for you again.

  • 10.6.7 update printing problem with canon ipf700

After the last os x update i can't print with canon ipf700
No new drivers in canon site
    Any suggestions?
    thanks

    Welcome to Apple Discussions!
Sometimes what you need to do is clear the print queue in the Printer System Preferences, sometimes what you need to do is reinstall the latest printer drivers.  Sometimes open source drivers work*:

I don't have an ipf700, but my MX700 works in 10.6.7 if it is any consolation.

  • PDF Printing problems with networked HP Laserjet C5020N

    Hello,
I'm having problems printing documents that I've created with the PDF creator of Office 2007. When I try to print only the first page, the printer correctly prints, but when I try any other job (printing the whole document, only the 2nd page, page 1 and 2, and so on) the printer refuses and prints one sheet that says:
    Error Name: /undefined
    Offending Command: --file--
    Operand Stack:
    I use Adobe Reader 8.1.0.

Also having other "permission" based problems as well. Other people cannot open my PDFs even though I have not used any security. I'm thinking about getting a previous version of Accrobat Pro and installing that.

  • Printing Problems with Canon Pixma MP830 under 10.5.5.

    Hi All.
Strange one here. I'll try to keep it short.
A client just bought a 24" iMac (running Leopard 10.5.5) and all was great until they tried to connect their Canon Pixma MP830 to it. The client installed connected the printer to the USB port in back, installed the software from the Canon CD, and soon discovered they could not print from any application -- however, they could do a test print (cleanings, alignments, test, etc.) without issue.
They ended up calling both Apple and Canon for several sessions and no one could figure it out.
So I get the call. I remove the printer completely from the system, emtpied the trash, repair permissions, blew out the user and system cache, restart and installed the fresh Leopard-friendly drivers from Canon. I also ran the firmware upgrade for the printer, which took just fine. When I did a test print -- no problem. When I tried to print from Safari -- nothing.
So I then I thought I would try the Gutenprint v5.1.3 drivers for that printer. Nada.
I downloaded the GutenPrint 5.2.0-beta4 drivers, still nada.
At a last ditch effort I tried a new USB cable, still nada.
Curious if anyone has seen this problem and perhaps as a solution? Aside from buying a new printer that is (they are already shopping, but not happy about it).
    Thanks!

    Hi there,
In reading your post I'd be curious to see the cups error log. Given that the Gutenprint drivers would not print also, I would say that something is wrong with the core printing system. The log would show which filter is causing the spooler to stop.

  • Wireless printing problems with Canon iP4300, but USB printing ok

My MacBook Pro is setup for wireless printing with a printer(Canon Pixma iP4300) connected to my other PC Desktop. The only problem is that when I print anything all the text and images are miniaturized and squished about a quarter of a page large into the upper left corner of an 8.5x11 paper. I installed all the programs that came with the printer installation disk and when I connect my MacBook directly to the printer via USB everything prints out just fine.
I suspect the problem is with the selection of printer model when you go to "Printer Setup" in System Preferences. The existing list of Canon printer models given to me by the computer does not contain anything specific for my iP4300. I simply chose the option "BJC 4300 Gimp-Print v.5.0.0-beta 2". Does anyone know of a way where I could add to that list of printer models or is there another way to get my wireless printing to work normally? Thanks to anyone who can help.

I have the same printer and network printing is a pain. Canon decided not to include a network specific driver for this printer.
You can try getting the latest version of the gimp-print drivers. The latest version has better support for ip4300. If it's worth it to you, PrintFab drivers have been working for me but PrintFab isn't free.
The latest Gimp-print (Gutenprint) drivers are here: http://gimp-print.sourceforge.net/MacOSX.php3
    Hope that helps.

    Hi Pedro,
How far away is your printer from your wireless access pont?  If you move the printer closer, are you able to receive a full page printout?

  • Printing problems with Canon MP600R (and zathura)

Hi, I've been trying to get my printer working properly. I've installed cups according to the wiki article, and adding the printer worked as expected. This is where I'm at: When printing from zathura, the resulting page is really low resolution. When printing to cups-pdf from zathura, the resulting PDF is of very low resolution. However, when using
    lp -d Virtual_PDF_Printer test.pdf
the resulting PDF is just fine. When printing with
    lp -d Canon_MP600R test.pdf
the page is much better in resolution, but still not ideal. Also, it seems that the font comes out too bold?!
However, the cups test page I've printed looks fine to me.
Not sure if this is related, but sometimes the printer does not react to a print job, and /var/log/cups/error_log contains lines like this:
Got USB transaction timeout during write.
    Thanks in advance
