Reader 9 plug-in woes

Howdy, folks, and happy spring!
I produced a PDF with embedded sound files (small MP3s) and have tested it in various versions of Reader (6, 7, 8, 9) for Mac OS X. Earlier versions of Reader work just fine, but Reader 9 won't play the sounds. I've noticed in Reader 9 that when I check "About Adobe Plug-Ins" none of the plug-ins, with the exception of the commenting plug-in, show up as "loaded." In the earlier versions of Reader, this wasn't an issue and the sounds play as expected. I've uninstalled Reader 9.3 to the best of my ability and reinstalled it, but still get the same result. Has anyone else had this plug-in problem with Reader 9? Or, better yet, know how to solve it?
Many thanks,
Victoria

check to see how these items are set in Preferences:
If neither is set to quicktime do so.
Acrobat 9 is the first version that doesn't use Quicktime for prefered method to show Content.
(I'll be glad when Adobe returns the use of Attachments to the forums, sure can't show decent detail.)

  • Control Adobe Reader browser plug-in programmatically

Is it possible to control the size of the
    Adobe Reader Browser plug-in programmitically?
I would like to be able to:
    1) Reduce the size of the plugin, so that I can use the
botton half of the browser to display other information.
    2) Change/Reload/Specify a different document to display.
    3) Programmitically zoom or chnage pages.
I would like to do this with ASP.NET, if possible.
I've seen thrid party ASP.NET controls that do this.
I would prefer to use the Adobe plug-in.
    Thanks

    Try reinstalling Lion:
    Reinstalling Lion Without the Installer
Boot to the Recovery HD: Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alterhatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions: Upon startup select Disk Utility from the main menu. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions as follows.
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall Lion: Select Reinstall Lion and click on the Continue button.
Note: You can also re-download the Lion installer by opening the App Store application. Hold down the OPTION key and click on the Purchases icon in the toolbar. You should now see an active Install button to the right of your Lion purchase entry. There are situations in which this will not work. For example, if you are already booted into the Lion you originally purchased with your Apple ID or if an instance of the Lion installer is located anywhere on your computer.

  • Reader enabling plug-in on Mac OS X

    Hi,
I have successfully created and reader-enabled a plug-in on a Windows platform (prooving that the KeyPair and certificate I have are correct).
The same plug-in works fine too with Acrobat on Mac OS X.
But I could not manage to reader-enable it on Mac OS.
In the Release notes / Issues for Acrobat XI SDK, I've found this :
    MakeKey Reader-enabling Tool
At this time, the MakeKey tool for Reader-enabling does not generate keys if you are using Mac OS 10.x on MacIntel or Windows Vista on 64-bit machines. Please check www.adobe.com/go/acrobat_developer periodically for future updates to this tool.
And in the Tools folder for mac in the SDK in empty... I've tried with similar tools provided with 9.1 SDK but... even it SignPlugin says the plugin has successfully been enabled... it does not load...
So... How is it possible toe reader-enable a plug-in for MacOS X ?
    TIA,
    J.

  • Adobe reader "missing plug-in"

Since upgrading (downgrading?) to Lion, several places where pages previously would load and appear no longer do so, but instead greet me with "missing plug-in".  When I check to see which plug-in is indeed missing, I'm told "To view this content, I need Adobe Reader" and instructs me to go to Adobe to get the plug-in.  After downloading and installing Reader, I still get this message.  I must confess I'm not well versed in the world of Mac commands so any assistance would be appreciated.  What am I doing wrong?

  • My iPhone isn't being read when plugged into my pc

Before this occurrence my iPhone was read through iTunes and when manually photos and videos being imported to my pc.
I plugged another iPhone into my pc and imported photos off it and removed the phone before it synced to my itunes, after that when I plug my iPhone into my pc it can't be read when importing photos and videos manually its being read as the other iPhone I plugged in before but my iPhone is still being read by iTunes.
When I import the photos they're my photos, with a different iPhone name and I cannot change the image position through photo gallery only manually through paint and I want to know how my iPhone can be read properly again!?

When I connect it to my iMac (with up-to-date OS X Yosemite 10.9.5) - it doesn't work.
Specifically - iTunes automatically launches, but then quickly shows a dialog window that says, "iTunes could not connect to the iPhone. This device is no longer connected."
Meanwhile - on my iPhone - in the upper right-hand corner (where the battery life is displayed) - you can see the "plugged in" icon (lightening bolt) rapidly blinking on and off.
In other words - it seems like, when it's plugged in - it's rapidly connecting and disconnecting (several times per second).
If I click "OK" on that dialog window on iTunes - it instantly pops back up, and continues to do so as long as I keep the iPhone plugged in.
I have tried all and stile did not resolve my problem. I tried to restart both devices, try different cable (I have original cable). Both devices are new and software's are update it on latest versions.
Thanks in advance for any help!

  • Adobe Reader XI - plug-ins

I cannot get my plugin(api) to show up in the tools menu, it works in the previous versions on Adobe Reader.
Do I need to get my plug-in certified to work?

Adobe Reader XI is not yet available to the public. If you are using a prerelease copy you must only discuss issues within the program, not on a public forum.

Have read but hoping for second opinion.

    Hi G,
Lets try this. Install the LV71NPlugin file, in the attached image, in the /Library/Internet Plug-Ins directory. I had to save the image with a different extension to be able to upload it to the forum so...
    1) Download the file
    2) Change the file extension from "abc" to "dmg"
    3) Copy LV71NPlugin to /Library/Internet Plug-Ins
Please let me know if this works for you.
    Thanks

  • Adobe reader missing plug-ins

Having read that Adobe Flash had been hacked two days ago I "uninstalled" everything I could find in Finder to do with Adobe to try to clean up my IMac and start fresh when I upgraded to Mountain Lion on August 26.  Then re-downloaded Adobe Reader.  Now some of my documents won't open because it states: "There was an error opening this document.  The file is damaged and could not be repaired."  If I go back in Time Machine to before I did the uninstall will this allow the files to be displayed in the original, undamaged format?  Also, if I go back in Time Machine will I lose my emails, documents and other data since that date?  (two days ago)  System Preferences still shows Adobe Flash in the "Other" section along with Flip4Mac and Perian even though I tried to delete Flash Player from here.
The second issue is that when I go to Charlie Rose it states "Blocked Plugin" .  Additionaly, I am unable to open movies and clips that come to me via email due to the same message.  Is this a security feature of Mountain Lion or have I removed necessary plugins?
    Thanks for any help.

The Flash Player icon still appears in SYSTEM PREFERENCES pane marked "OTHER".  When I view the tabs (Advanced tab specifically)  it shows that Plug-in version 11.3.300.257 in installed.  HOWEVER, since I can not find any program named Adobe Flash anywhere else including under Applications or Devices it appears that I must have successfully uninstalled Flash. If this is correct, why does the icon still appear in System Preferences?  If this indicates that it is not uninstalled then I am back to the problem of how to do it and that is not addressed in the article referred to above since I don't have either the application or the device to uninstall.
Meanwhile any help regarding the Adobe Reader issue would be welcome.
    Thanks.

  • Disabling Adobe Reader X Plug-In

I have always enjoyed Safari's ability to open PDFs natively without requiring a plug-in. I recently installed Abobe Reader X, and now it is the default plug-in for PDFs. I have tried to disable this in Reader's preferences, but the checkbox is grayed out. Is there a preference, or Terminal trick I can use, or should I downgrade my version of Reader back to 9.4?

  • Getting Logic Express 7.2 to read AU Plug-ins

    Hi all,
I'm running Logic Express 7.2 on a Macbook Pro. I haven't had any problems so far, but recently a friend bought me Amplitube for my birthday and I can't get Logic to acknowledge its presence.
I installed the AU file, which is sitting in the library/audio/plug-ins folder. I've also used Logic's AU finder to scan my drives for it, but Logic never finds it.
Anyone have any idea why this is and how to get it to work? Thanks!

Is Amplitube a Universal Binary? If it's the PPC version it won't be able to work with Logic Express on your MacBook Pro. I don't know if Apple plans on doing anything about this, but unfortunately PPC plug-ins won't run in Rosetta in LE 7.2, although I believe that Logic 7.1 could be run in Rosetta and would support using PPC plug-ins.

  • Adobe Reader XI plug-ins for IE8

I am updated to Adobe Reader XI 11.0.02 according to "Help/About Adobe Reader XI," and my "Add or Remove programs" on XP- SP3 says 11.0.02.  Also, my plug-in for Chrome says 11.0.02. But, my IE8 plug-ins still say 11.0.01.36 for Adobe PDF Reader and 11.0.0.379 for Adobe PDF Link Helper.  I uninstalled reader and reinstalled and still the same thing.  Why won't the IE8 Reader plug-ins update?
    Thanks.

I see the same in IE10; maybe the IE add-on was not updated (i.e. not affected by the security fixes that went into 11.0.1 & 11.0.2)?

  • Motherboard hangs on POST when USB card reader is plugged in

Hi there, I am using the MSI Z77A-GD65 GAMING motherboard. I am using the following USB card reader which I bought from a local store: Amazon.com: Epraizer Universal Flash & SIM Card Reader/Writer, USB 2.0: Computers & Accessories
However, whenever I boot with this device, my BIOS is stuck at error code 'C6'. A check on AMI's website shows that this related is probably related to boot devices. I am able to boot fine with other USB devices plugged in, such as USB thumbdrive and USB hard disk.
At first, I thought it was a problem with my device but I can boot fine with the memory card reader plugged in on all my other computers. This makes me wonder if there is a firmware fault? I have tried disabling legacy USB and removing USB devices from boot order, but nothing helps. I have seen that in the forums some BIOS updates for some motherboards fix this issue, for example: **Official MSI Z77 Mpower Discussion Thread** - Overclockers UK Forums , where in one of the BIOS update the changes reads: Fix the issue that the system will hang 0xB4 or 0x99 when use customer usb cable or usb cardreaders.(USB cardreader: KAMA reader Tr, Akasa card reader).
So I was wondering if it's a common issue with MSI motherboards? Will there be a fix or my motherboard is now too old to be supported? I purchased this motherboard two months ago btw
P.S it works fine when I plug it in in Windows. I have tried both the ports in front and at the back, USB 2 or 3.

It is then obviously a compatibility issue with that particular card reader and that particular board model. As your board is long time EOL ("End-of-life") and has been replaced by two generations already there will be no further updates. What bios versions did you try already?

  • Adobe Reader X Plug-In

I am using Windows 7 Home Premium with Internet Explorer 9.0.4 and I am unable to open pdf in the browser.   I have tried going to the manage add-ons but it is not listed in any of the fields.  I really need to be able to open pdf's in the browser for my job.
Can someone tell me if they have had a similar issue and how they resolved it.

The Reader add-on does not work on 64-bit browsers; you need to use the 32-bit IE edition in order to view online documents in the browser.

  • I'm checking my plug-ins & I have an outdated Adobe Reader PDF Plug-In For Firefox and Netscape vers 10.1.13.16. Updating doesn't help, just says up to date.

    Running Windows Vista

Unfortunately, Adobe doesn't support the current Reader XI on Windows Vista.
If the Help > Check for Updates inside Adobe Reader X says you are good, you'll have to trust Adobe on that. The Mozilla plugin checker isn't designed to have multiple current versions for different flavors of Windows (at least, the last time I checked it wasn't).
